- "Very good place for families with kids" - "We had a fantastic time. There was so much to do for the kids. We loved the restaurants on site and the fact that there were different room types to chose from for our different extended family members. The staff were so nice and accommodating. They offer free bagged ice and will take you around the resort in a golf cart as needed. (One night they took the 13 of us to and from the golf course for dinner) They have candy / chocolate / freezies in the reception building. Plus daily activities like games night / movie night. And of course check out the pickleball / basketball / volleyball courts and second pool by the smaller lake. We also went to Chef Henrie restaurant in MacTier - It was outstanding. If you get a chance you should stop in for lunch or dinner. But make a reservation! "

Hopefully next time (and there will be a next time) the hot tub will be open. The continental breakfast was pretty standard. Nothing out of the ordinary, but everything was tasty. I do want to highlight the coffee, though. Most places I’ve stayed, the coffee is abysmal, but this was a decent cup of joe. The location is perfect, close to the highway, which is nice if you’re on a schedule, but also deep enough in the woods that the air smells fantastic and you can hear the crickets. Overall the building just looks really nice too."

Beautifully fully furnished vacation home with a office / study area that can accommodate up to 8 adults and 6 children, located in the town of Port Loring overlooking Wilson Lake. Four extra large bedrooms with room for 8 adults and 6 children. Three of the bedrooms have great views of the lake. Two complete bathrooms. Spacious, fully stocked kitchen with enough space for big family dinners. Large living room with plenty of comfy couches to sit and enjoy conversation or to watch your favorite shows or movies on the 65`` Smart TV with Netflix and YouTube included. Full size laundry facilities are located on the main floor close to the back entrance and mudroom. Small room adjacent to the laundry room can be used as an office if you need to connect to work. Games, books and puzzles are also available and located in this room.

There is ample parking for large groups with trailers. Large back yard for the kids to play in with a fire-pit (wood included)for night time marshmallow roasts. Please note that there is no day-time burning and check for fire bans in this area. You will have access to Wi-Fi and there is a key less entry. Lock Box is available if required.
A boat launch is available at the lake to launch your boat and explore the 40 miles of the Pickerel river system or enjoy the many other surrounding lakes, all with great boating and fishing. The government dock is a two minute walk from the house for your use.
The OFSC trail passes in front of the house for easy access. Enjoy all the trails going in a different direction each day or go ice fishing into the back lakes. Large driveway can accommodate snowmobile trailers.
Spend a day or two exploring the lovely town of Port Loring. Visit the three restaurants, gift shops and variety/grocery stores located in the surrounding area. There are two gas stations in the area with one right in the town.
House is equipped with carbon dioxide/smoke detectors throughout. Fire extinguisher and first aid kit are also on premises.

- "We had a fantastic stay in Port Loring. The cabin (house, really) was spotlessly clean, spacious and was nicer in person than the photos showed. Beds were clean and comfortable and it was perfect for a family traveling with kids. Loved having a dishwasher. Close to the lake for easy swimming, but not so close that you felt like it was a drowning hazard for little kids. They could still go outside to play in the back yard. The yard games were a hoot. Nestled beneath towering pine trees on stunning secluded Lake Dube, a rain-fed, non motorized lake. Newly renovated, with a perfect mix of modern finishes and traditional cozy log cabin feel. Enjoy serene views from our hot tub overlooking the lake and our 2km groomed trail on the property with natural rivers, bridges and a beaver dam; and also a fun addition of a rustic smokehouse along the trail to enjoy sunset fires!

The cottage is fully loaded with a games room loft (Pool table, Darts and Foosball) video games, ample board games, lakeside fire pit and fun non-motorized toys for the lake (canoe, kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boat, row boat, etc). Our lakeside deck and dock is perfect for sun lounging, dining or a morning yoga class overlooking the lake. The property is also sprayed once every two weeks for mosquitos.

The deck wraps around the house, making the morning wake with your coffee just a little easier. Lounge in one of several Muskoka chairs or take refuge under the gazebo, either option includes a breathtaking western view of Lake Wilson.

The house has activities for all ages. Starting outside, the field is groomed and equipped to enjoy many favourites including, volleyball, badminton, soccer, hockey, dodgeball, bocce, frisbee, and more. If you want to take your fun down to the water, the house includes 2 canoes, a pedal boat, life jackets, and other water toys. We are only steps to the beach at Port Shores, the Government Dock, or the boat launch. The beach is beautifully graded with a shallow gradual entry. The dock is great for diving and jumping off, with easy ladder access to start all over. The lake is clean and invites a weed-free swim. If you are bringing your own boat, there is docking available with seasonal and weekly rental rates.

For the Winter months, explore the frozen waters by foot or snowmobile. Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (District 11 area route map), has trimmed trails to enjoy.

Sometimes Mother-Nature forces us to play inside - not to worry - the games room is furnished with a pool table, satellite TV, DVDs, board games, books, and more.

- "Three generations enjoyed our annual family get away at Hilltop Cottage. From booking to arrival to departure Melanie was responsive and easy to deal with. She went out of her way to make it really special for our granddaughters with the purchase of a wading pool for the deck. The cottage was absolutely spotless! No issues letting the 8 month old crawl everywhere (except the dog bowl; also a nice touch to have 2 provided). The small beach is just a short walk. Sand for the kids to play and calm, clear water with sandy bottom for everyone to enjoy. But the cottage is the highlight of the trip. Comfy beds, great layout for extended family sans dog, clean bathrooms and well appointed kitchen. If they don't have it, you don't need it. Fridge/freezer combo were empty and ready for us to fill. Also a chest freezer (empty) for our use was appreciated. A huge, clean BBQ on the deck really impressed the men in the group and they used it, a lot!! The loft with TV (movies galore and XBox games), pool table, loads of board games and bar fridge made our one rain day very enjoyable. We highly recommend Hilltop Cottage whether you're looking for a week of tranquility or a week of fishing, fun and games (or a bit of both). It's there and it's fabulous!!! The recreation room has a wood burning stove and games area with ping pong table, dart boards etc. On the Main Floor there is a huge Family/Media Room with breathtaking views of the lake through massive windows plus 24 foot cathedral ceilings, a 4 piece washroom, plus two guest bedrooms, 1 with a Double bed & a twin bed and the other with a queen bed .The open concept Kitchen has modern stainless steel appliances plus a large indoor dining area gathered around hand-made wooden table that seats up to 9. From the kitchen walk out to the balcony with a shade structure for comfortable outdoor dining overlooking the lake. On the upper level the master features a Queen bed plus a Sofa bedand a 4 piece washroom.

We also have a treadmill for your use. Plus the cottage comes with 2 x 3 person canoes as well as a sit upon kayak and 4 adult life jackets. There is also a billiard table for your use.

Walking distance to anything you need. On site parking for two cars, and plenty of other overnight space very near by. Owner was great with communications, and check in process was so effortless. Would definitely stay here again!"
