- "We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Balsam Resort and plan to go back! Our room was on the second floor of the main (old) building and had a terrace with a beautiful view of the lake. The terrace faced away from all the cottages and was wonderfully quiet and private. The room was a little shabby but was clean and had a well-equipped kitchen with everything we needed for a long weekend stay. The beach was steps away with plenty of lounge chairs and picnic tables and lots of room to relax in the shade when the sun gets too hot. Our Canada Day long weekend visit included a performance by a live band (!) and a terrific fireworks display. I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a getaway within 2 hours of the city - and no Hwy 400 traffic!"

Michael was a terrific host and gave excellent directions for the final portion of getting to the cottage. The cottage was much larger than expected. Lots of bathrooms and enough beds to sleep six comfortably. Lots of extra goodies left if wanted. Beautiful lake and mostly peaceful but it is the time of year for cleanup for winter so some activity. Met Michael and his son and his lively dog who had a stare off with our cat. Our cat won that and loved being outdoors and walking along the edge looking into the water. Was her first experience at a cottage. Internet reception was great also. One suggestion would be to make sure to only come during daylight hours as a bit tricky on the twisting gravel roads and easy to get turned around. Used Google maps on phone and it was spot on to find the cottage. Would definitely book it again. One other suggestion would be to put something under the mattresses to add a bit more support. Otherwise the amenities in the cottage and outside lacked for nothing."

Close to Burleigh falls and petroglyphs.

During winter months the area and property get significant snow falls. We cannot guarantee that the driveway will be freshly plowed.
