- "Very good place for families with kids" - "We had a fantastic time. There was so much to do for the kids. We loved the restaurants on site and the fact that there were different room types to chose from for our different extended family members. The staff were so nice and accommodating. They offer free bagged ice and will take you around the resort in a golf cart as needed. (One night they took the 13 of us to and from the golf course for dinner) They have candy / chocolate / freezies in the reception building. Plus daily activities like games night / movie night. And of course check out the pickleball / basketball / volleyball courts and second pool by the smaller lake. We also went to Chef Henrie restaurant in MacTier - It was outstanding. If you get a chance you should stop in for lunch or dinner. But make a reservation! "

I do want to highlight the coffee, though. Most places I’ve stayed, the coffee is abysmal, but this was a decent cup of joe. The location is perfect, close to the highway, which is nice if you’re on a schedule, but also deep enough in the woods that the air smells fantastic and you can hear the crickets. Overall the building just looks really nice too."

A boat launch is available at the lake to launch your boat and explore the 40 miles of the Pickerel river system or enjoy the many other surrounding lakes, all with great boating and fishing. The government dock is a two minute walk from the house for your use.
The OFSC trail passes in front of the house for easy access. Enjoy all the trails going in a different direction each day or go ice fishing into the back lakes. Large driveway can accommodate snowmobile trailers.
Spend a day or two exploring the lovely town of Port Loring. Visit the three restaurants, gift shops and variety/grocery stores located in the surrounding area. There are two gas stations in the area with one right in the town.
House is equipped with carbon dioxide/smoke detectors throughout. Fire extinguisher and first aid kit are also on premises.

Beds were clean and comfortable and it was perfect for a family traveling with kids. Loved having a dishwasher. Close to the lake for easy swimming, but not so close that you felt like it was a drowning hazard for little kids. They could still go outside to play in the back yard. The yard games were a hoot. The deck wraps around the house, making the morning wake with your coffee just a little easier. Lounge in one of several Muskoka chairs or take refuge under the gazebo, either option includes a breathtaking western view of Lake Wilson.

The house has activities for all ages. Starting outside, the field is groomed and equipped to enjoy many favourites including, volleyball, badminton, soccer, hockey, dodgeball, bocce, frisbee, and more. If you want to take your fun down to the water, the house includes 2 canoes, a pedal boat, life jackets, and other water toys. We are only steps to the beach at Port Shores, the Government Dock, or the boat launch. The beach is beautifully graded with a shallow gradual entry. The dock is great for diving and jumping off, with easy ladder access to start all over. The lake is clean and invites a weed-free swim. If you are bringing your own boat, there is docking available with seasonal and weekly rental rates.

For the Winter months, explore the frozen waters by foot or snowmobile. Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (District 11 area route map), has trimmed trails to enjoy.

Sometimes Mother-Nature forces us to play inside - not to worry - the games room is furnished with a pool table, satellite TV, DVDs, board games, books, and more.

- "Three generations enjoyed our annual family get away at Hilltop Cottage. From booking to arrival to departure Melanie was responsive and easy to deal with. She went out of her way to make it really special for our granddaughters with the purchase of a wading pool for the deck. The cottage was absolutely spotless! No issues letting the 8 month old crawl everywhere (except the dog bowl; also a nice touch to have 2 provided). The small beach is just a short walk. Sand for the kids to play and calm, clear water with sandy bottom for everyone to enjoy. But the cottage is the highlight of the trip. Comfy beds, great layout for extended family sans dog, clean bathrooms and well appointed kitchen. If they don't have it, you don't need it. Fridge/freezer combo were empty and ready for us to fill. Also a chest freezer (empty) for our use was appreciated. A huge, clean BBQ on the deck really impressed the men in the group and they used it, a lot!! The loft with TV (movies galore and XBox games), pool table, loads of board games and bar fridge made our one rain day very enjoyable. We highly recommend Hilltop Cottage whether you're looking for a week of tranquility or a week of fishing, fun and games (or a bit of both). It's there and it's fabulous!!! There are two entrances, one on the lower level and another at the rear enters into the Main Floor level which features a Family/Media Room with breathtaking views of the lake through massive windows with 24 foot cathedral ceilings.

Open concept Kitchen with modern appliances, wine fridge. The large indoor dining area gathered around hand-made wooden table seats up 9 people comfortably. From the kitchen there is a walkout to the balcony for comfortable outdoor dining overlooking the lake. A washroom and laundry are available on this level as well. 3 separate living areas make this cottage ideal for 2 families or a multi-generational gathering. On the lower level there is a guest bedroom set up hotel style with one double bed and can sleep 2 people. There is also a 3 pc washroom on this level. The recreation room has a wood burning stove and games area with ping pong table, dart boards etc. On the Main Floor there is a huge Family/Media Room with breathtaking views of the lake through massive windows plus 24 foot cathedral ceilings, a 4 piece washroom, plus two guest bedrooms, 1 with a Double bed & a twin bed and the other with a queen bed .The open concept Kitchen has modern stainless steel appliances plus a large indoor dining area gathered around hand-made wooden table that seats up to 9. The vrbo property is a bit out of cellular range, and the cottage doesn’t have wifi so very good to truly disconnect from the electronic world. We caught fish everyday, enjoyed some bbq and were able to enjoy our long weekend away thoroughly. The neighbours both have dogs, and the one dog was friendly enough to come over and say hello to our pup! Just a heads up if you have a dog who isn’t good with other dogs to be aware that you may have a visitor! The overall property is beautiful and very secluded, the only dock on the lake for a mile either way, and star night skies that take your breath away! The master bedroom's entry is off the kitchen, the front bedroom off the living room.

Guests will have complete access to the deck, the apartment and the adjacent laundry room. If they wish to explore the 12 acres, directions will be given as to access and route to follow.

It is a very large three story home with medium sized guest rooms on the second and third floor. Your cabin is equipped with a door lock and key, quality linens, two pillows for the bed, one towel per person, toiletries, small fan, mirror, dresser, hangers. Your hosts live on the main floor of the guest house with their pet dog. As a train town, we are close to the busy rail system. We offer ear plugs in each room. While your host will likely meet you on arrival, this is not always possible. You will be given the key code for the guest house. Entrance to Waubeek House is via a set of exterior stairs. The two shared large bathrooms are located on the second floor. One is off the main hall and the other is off the kitchen. The cabin is ideal for a single guest but can accommodate two. If you have interest in a long stay, we are able to accommodate this. High speed WIFI is available and works well in all areas. The guest area is equipped with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers are located on the second floor hall, kitchenette and closet, second and third floor landings. There is no A/C. We are located close to restaurants, downtown, great beaches, library and hospital. You can easily walk, bike or drive to local events. We are a short drive to many municipal and provincial parks. Parry Sound offers great flying, boating, swimming, kayaking and canoe opportunities. It is a great four season location with so many activities. Kitchen is closed at 800pm.

During your stay
The cabin is located in the rear fenced yard/garden of the large guest house. Entry is through the gate near the driveway and up a full flight of stairs. The kitchenette, and two baths are on the second floor. Guest rooms are located on the second and third floor.

Other things to note
While your cabin offers full privacy, you may hear, meet, greet and see the hosts and guests when you leave your cabin or attend the guest house amenities. Remember - there is train noise.

Note that there is electricity and water station from a hose (after the May long wknd), yet no running water in the Cabin or Outhouse. Feel free to use the free filling Station at the Dunchurch Community Centre for additional drinking water.

This stylish place to stay is perfect for touring Parry Sound, visiting with family for special events, and as a stopover for traveling. The area to be used by guests is in the lower basement level of the bungalow. Stairs are involved. The entrance is through the main front door, and there is access to the outside sitting area deck also available in the summertime. We have strict cleaning protocols between guests. there is a workout area with a weight machine, free weights, a stationary bike, yoga mat, and a workbench. your 3-piece bath is private for your use only. All linens, towels, and toilet paper are supplied. There are yogurts, breakfast cereals, coffee, tea, milk, and sugar supplied. There is a mini fridge, microwave, Keurig machine, glasses, wine glasses, plates, bowls, and cutlery supplied. Space does not include use of host's personal kitchen.

Entrance is through common area used by hosts as well. Parking available in the long driveway in front of the home and can easily accommodate guest vehicles.

Other things to note
We are a pet-free zone, so no allergy concerns. The town of Parry Sound is criss-crossed with railroad tracks and trains run regularly through and can be heard from our home both day and night... in fact, there's not a home in town that can't hear the trains! It's just a fact of life in this small town.
There is ample room to park two cars in the driveway - please park on the right side of the drive, but do take care to stay off the grass as there is an inground sprinkler system.
We do have a security video system focused on the outside of the front door and the back door. There are no other devices within the household.

Outdoor enthusiasts dream get away- ***paddle to the cabin with a small portage on the way. You “MUST” have at minimum, basic experience in handling a canoe to get to the cabin!!!
The cabin is on a quiet lake adjoining Massassauga Provincial Park. Enjoy our all day sun, South facing, off the grid cabin. Sleeps 4 comfortably. Only 7 cottages on the lake. Stunning views of the water from the loft or deck.

The space
Half of our lake is located in Massassauga Provincial Park - our cabin is a great starting point for canoe trips into the park,. To get to the cabin by canoe, it is about a 1 to 1-1/2 hour paddle, (depending on your paddling speed) with a 100 m (or less) portage on the way. Our cabin is completely private, and the deck is overlooking the lake. There is a short 30 m steep walk up to the cabin from the lake.
A king sized, bed and a floor mattress are in the loft, and the view is beautiful. A small bedroom adjacent to the kitchen has a double bed. There are a few flashlights there but best to bring some lights with you. There is a small kitchen equipped with hot and cold running water and a small side tap for filtered water. It has a propane cook top, dishes and cutlery, pots and pans and all the necessities to let you enjoy "upscale glamping”.
We have recently added an outdoor shower, also with hot and cold running water.
There is a small propane fridge for your fresh food and drinks
Outside on the deck you have a table and chairs (in the cabin as well) and a small propane BBQ. Propane is provided for all of our amenities. Camping chairs are available to take to the dock or sit on shore by the lake and watch the beavers. We have a nice, clean little outhouse for your business needs, equipped with toilet paper, wet wipes and hand sanitizer.

Room 5 is on the second floor. We offer EV charging. This room has two single beds. Waubeek House offers pricing based on guests travelling alone. Additional fee for second guest. Our sparkling clean historic guest house offers private rooms with WIFI, 2 shared baths/kitchenette. A busy train track is near. The guest has their own private bedroom with a door, shared bath, shared common space (kitchen), the private room is not a shared room. There is no A/C offered in house.

Waubeek House is a large red brick guest house that was built in 1908 and has been restored. It is a very large three level home with medium sized guest rooms on the second and third floor. Walls are painted white, the tall windows have coverings, floors are hardwood or vinyl. There are high ceilings on the second floor while the third floor rooms, which were originally attic space, have slanted ceilings and they can be warm on a really hot night. Each room is equipped with a door lock and key, quality linens, two pillows per bed, one towel per person, toiletries, small fan, mirror, dresser, hangers. Your hosts live on the main floor with their pet dog. As a train town, we are close to the busy rail system. We offer ear plugs in each room. While your host will likely meet you on arrival, this is not always possible. You will be given the key pad code. Entrance to Waubeek House is via a set of exterior stairs. Your room number corresponds to the number within your booking name such as WaubeekHouse1 is room 1 and so on. Rooms are located on the second and third floor. They have two or three large windows that open. The two shared large bathrooms are located on the second floor. One is off the main hall and the other is off the kitchen. Children and one pet dog are welcome to stay in your room, but a cash fee of $25 per night per dog is assessed. Speak to us if you would like to bring a leashed pet. They cannot be left unattended at any point. The rooms are ideal for a single guest but can accommodate two. Unfortunately we do not supply cribs or cots or highchairs. If you have interest in a long stay, we are able to accommodate this. High speed WIFI is available and works well in all areas. The guest area is equipped with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, 6 fire extinguishers are located on the second floor hall, kitchenette and closet, second and third floor landings and the cabin. There is no A/C offered in house. We are located close to restaurants, downtown, great beaches, library and hospital. You can easily walk, bike or drive to local events. We are a short drive to many municipal and provincial parks. Parry Sound offers great flying, boating, swimming, kayaking and canoe opportunities.
