Brule Cabin offers unbelievable waterfront and mountain views. Brule is a winterized cabin offering a wood burning stove, radiant and electric baseboard heat. This 2 bedroom cottage is open concept, has a small kitchen that is full equipped, with a cute breakfast dinning area, 3 piece bath and a comfy queen pull out. Walk out into the seasonal enclosed porch where you will find an additional dining table and chairs, and a comfy couch. There is also a separate small size deck with BBQ for grilling your favourite foods. Cardinal fans may recognize this cabin as the one Kevin used in the “Blackfly” season” of the show “Cardinal. Located beside the cabin you will find an infra-red sauna for two and a large shared bonfire site. Rustic by design. Please note that the porch is not winterized.

Experience the peace of off-grid life at our diminutive pine-clad bunkie privately nestled between the trees on our 15 acre off-grid homestead. Enjoy the cozy quarters warmed by the Cubic wood stove while you cuddle up on the sofa. Take a walk and marvel at the spectacular scenery surrounding Antoine Mountain. Chill by the fire and stargaze before you retire to the comfy queen loft. Cook on the grill or let us serve you farm-to-table gourmet food: wood-oven pizza, sourdough cinnamon buns & more!

The space
The off-grid bunkie is located in a private area on the 15 acre rural property which is partially cleared and partially wooded. It features a fire pit (facing Antoine Mountain), a covered porch with chairs, a BBQ area, and a large private mowed yard area. Guests are free to explore the property and adjacent woods.

The fully insulated bunkie features a main level with a sofa, console/prep table, two small tables for eating, and a wood burning stove. Above is a sleeping loft with a comfortable memory foam queen bed, complete with duvet, flannel sheets extra blankets and plenty of pillows. The loft is accessed by ladder - care should be taken ascending/descending.

There is no electricity however we do provide a battery pack to run the lamp, the TV/DVD player and for charging your devices. In addition to this, there are battery powered ceiling lights on the main level which provide relaxing accent lighting. We also provide 2 battery operated LED lanterns and LED headlamps. Lastly, there are solar powered outdoor spotlights and Edison string lights in the BBQ area in front of the porch.

A super-clean, comfortable and fresh outhouse with a compostable toilet is behind the bunkie. Note - there is no running water however we do provide jugs of spring water sourced from the spring across the street from the property. We also have an outdoor solar shower complete with fresh towels and natural shampoo & body wash for when you need to freshen-up (May-Oct). There are basins and dish soap provided if you need to wash dishes however it’s not required on checkout - relax, we’ll take care of it!

Other things to note
OFF-GRID POWER, HEAT & WATER

The property is off-grid so there is no electricity (a portable battery pack is provided). There is no running water. Heat is furnished via the wood burning stove which also provides great ambience. There’s also a propane wall heater which provides secondary heat.

The loft sleeping area is significantly warmer than the main level when running the wood stove (Makes for a cozy sleep!). The fire in the stove does require stoking periodically, and possibly during the night during very cold times. During cold weather, slippers are recommended for the main level. While we have lots of blankets, we do recommend bringing layers of clothing so you can adjust to what is most comfortable for you.

WILD LIFE

The rural property is pretty much in the bush which means wild animals may be present. This is a beautiful thing and you may be treated to seeing some cool things only nature can offer! It is important to take care with food and garbage. Store food inside, ideally in a cooler. Garbage should be secured in the bin behind the outhouse with the lid shut tightly.

Our off-grid A-frame style house and hobby farm is well up the drive and not clearly visible from the bunkie. We do have a livestock guardian dog - our Nash- who very occasionally will bark to ward off predators (a good thing!). He’s friendly to people and won’t otherwise bother with you. We also have a miniature poodle, chickens and a jersey cow on the property so you may hear some magical sounds of the farm from time-to-time during the day.

GOURMET FARM-TO-TABLE FOOD

Roslyn is a Nutritionist/Author and Chris is a former executive with Loblaw - both are hugely passionate about great food! A key feature of our homestead property is that we grow and produce a significant amount of our own food and we’d love to share our farm-to-table experience with you. Relax and enjoy the option to have catered wood-fired gourmet pizza for dinner, sourdough cinnamon buns for breakfast or other seasonal options which change daily. We’ll let you know the available menu before check in. * Note * food is not available to order Friday evenings or Saturday mornings May 15 - Oct 15. We do however have a farm stand at the front of the property where you can get fresh eggs and freshly-baked sourdough baguettes weekend mornings (while supplies last). And of course, the BBQ with side burner is always available to cook yourself!

At the water front (SEASONAL) you will find a small beautiful sandy beach, sitting areas, a deck, dock, canoe and a wonderful little cabin. The water level fluctuates daily and the small PRIVATE beach is usually at its fullest during the late afternoon until sunset. The shoreline offers a combination of both sandy and rocky areas so water shoes are handy. There are a variety of adult PFD’s: sized small through XL - best to bring your own life jackets for that perfect fit !

Valhalla is out of cell service area, wifi calling works great and can be set up easily with Apple devices. If you have an Android, due to their settings, it’s best to set up PRIOR to arrival as data is required with “android” devices.

Welcome to the Laurentian Highlands, the arrival of summer brings warmer and longer days filled with more light and joy ! It’s Truly a magical time to witness the massive influx of migratory birds that return yearly to their summer home. Enjoy the many song birds and water fowl in large numbers, including the beautiful LOON and its sweetest cry along with the sweet, beautiful, acrobaticand magical HUMMINGBIRDS… zip zip zoom zoom OH so spectacular and quite entertaining!

The beauty of spring season, emerging buds and leaves that follow, represent renewal and growth. With the bloom comes some summer BUGS and that's all part of the cycle. Seeing a honey bee pollinate an early-blooming flower is quite a heart-warming sight along with watching a literal explosion of leaf growth.

Light weight and coloured clothing, NO perfume scents, long sleeves, a hat or hoody and bug spray are all very helpful when the black flies, mosquitoes and other bug species appear.

While enjoying the spectacular mountain river views from the large picturesque windows and for some INDOOR FUN activities: there are many board games and the dining table converts to a card or bumper-pool table! The top is very heavy solid wood and requires two adults to remove so please let us know if you need assistance. Bring your own POKER chips !

We reside in a quiet, secluded, private and small neighbourhood. We ask you to please respect our neighbours privacy and property and refrain from trespassing during your nature walks !

We are dog friendly and welcome your furry loved ones. No cats please due to allergies. Please clean up after your dog and crate it when left alone. A large crate, clean dog dishes, pet towels and a blanket are available for your convenience. A modest fee applies so be sure to include your pet at time of booking.

Valhalla is situated on a hilltop with several walking paths to the large lookout firepit and waterfront, The lookout fire pit opens May long weekend until November and is a shared space. The gardens are cared for and the hosts will notified the guests in advance when they are hosting a fire. Guests are welcomed to join them or have their own, no expectations ! A small fire pit with spectacular views is only a few steps from your entrance and is available exclusively for guests year round !

There are large rock walls around the property and guests are asked to refrain from climbing onto any of the rocks.

Please note the water level FLUCTUATES daily and so does the beach area. The small beach is usually at it fullest during the late afternoon. The shoreline is both sandy and rocky so water shoes are ideal. There is a great drop off about 15 feet from the shore and excellent for swimming.

The hosts ‘personal’ pontoon boat is docked at the waterfront. The waterfront is identified as shared space!

SOFTUB
By using the softub you agree to follow the same rules as the host in order to keep it spotless with crystal clear water. It is not a bathtub !
An instruction sheet is found on the coffee table and also posted outside near the softub. Very important : Please shower before entering, use the skimmer net after each use and add a 1/2 scoop of bromine ONCE daily(if used) — The hosts will test the water once daily and service when necessary. PLEASE DRY OFF OUTSIDE- before reentering the unit.

The Shamayim Cabin is a cozy, off-grid log cabin tucked deep in the forest on its own private clearing—Nature’s Harmony’s most secluded stay. It's the perfect place to slow down, disconnect, and immerse yourself in nature.

The cabin comfortably sleeps 2–6 with a large queen bedroom, a separate bunkie room (double + single bunks), and a bright open-concept kitchen/living space. The fully screened-in deck includes a patio set for al fresco meals. Hammocks hang just outside for warm-weather lounging.

The space is self-sufficient and ready for off-grid living:

Most activities are free and on-site. No additional fees for summer water equipment.

Other things to note
This is an off-grid retreat designed for those who want to truly unplug. There’s no electricity, no running water, and no Wi-Fi — just simplicity, silence, and stars.

-Propane stove, BBQ & fire pit for cooking
-USB light + power bank included

this cottage is a 2 story + basement home it has 3 bedrooms (3 queen beds) 1 full bath and 1.5 bath, a tv, wifi is included. also has AC and heat. Within walking distance to: boat docks, ottawa/mattawa river, town centre, conservation area (beach) Outdoor activities available: snowmobiling, quading/atv, skiing , swiming, fishing and hunting. it is still a work in progress with renos in mind to plan, but is very cozy and a great getaway!

Other things to note
This home is an older home that has not yet been renovated with an open back yard (no fence ) however we are working on things little by little. If you are looking for a higher end renovated place this is not for you. we would also like to note that we do not live in the area as this is our cottage and getaway place.
