Also the main road is very close to the cottages so quite noisy and not great if you want to let your dog or children run free. Lastly, there was no warning about wild animals at night, they ate our food outside and if people leave their dog outside to sleep that wouldn’t be good at all ! "

- "I needed a quiet place to get some work done and this place was perfect. Even though it's close to the highway, there are trees to block its view so it was easy for me to ignore. I had my own private area with a fire pit and a BBQ to grill up some steaks. Inside, it felt so cozy with a full kitchen, living room area and a separate room for the bedroom. As soon as I stepped through the door, I took a deep breath and smiled.... And the bed was so comfortable that I ended up sleeping a little longer than I wanted but that was definitely OK with me. I obviously needed it. There was also lots of space out back for walks. I noticed various sporting areas and the complementary paddle boats and kayaks. I wasn't able to take advantage of this option but I may take another trip out that way so I can explore the lake. I have to say that I was totally impressed with the fact that they are so eco friendly. They even have solar panels set up. A storm hit the area, the power went out for 2 seconds or less and that was the end of it. No more power issues at all. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you. :)"

The bad: The rooms have toilets and sinks, but no showers. To shower you have to use a communal bathroom. Not what I was expecting when booking a hotel room! There is no AC. I did find a window fan in a drawer but thankfully had received a welcome text from the property earlier in the day advising my room number (which was not the room I was given) and in the text it noted there was no AC so I picked up a fan at a shop on my way there. I hope business goes well for the property and they can invest in ac units for the summer. I would definitely not go here without ac in the summer. "

- "We loved it. Have already rebooked another stay for this fall. Proprieters were very kind, rates are very reasonable, and the views are spectacular. Wifi hot spot really easy to access vis your smartphone. Firewood for woodstove and fire pit was free and plentiful, kitchens and washroom well-equipped. Beds were a little hard for our bodies, and it was a little chilly in the mornings (cottages are not insulated), but it's a cottage in the woods, so you have to accept that going into this. - "This cabin provided a true escape. Swimming in the clear pond water was amazing. If you want peace and privacy then this spot is for you." - "I surprised my girlfriend for her 30th birthday by taking her here and man did it not disappoint. My girlfriend was in tears when we first arrived as the pictures are amazing, but seeing this place in person is a different story. The cabin is simply stunning with incredible architecture inside and out. There are so many designated areas to hang and we lived them all. From the swing, couches/ chairs on patio, upstairs bedroom patio, gazebo, and lit up fire pit, we really made this place our home for 3 nights! The outside environment is something next level. It is super peaceful and beautiful here and has some of best views and sounds of nature you’ll ever find so bring your camera (we saw turtles, a stork, and many birds). We went out for my girlfriends birthday to a nearby winery called the Roost and that was awesome so I highly recommend doing the blind wine tasting there (ask for Don). The cabin is very clean and equipped, but just make sure to bring extra pods for coffee, own spices, containers for food and parchment paper/ tinfoil and clear wrap. We also swam in the pond a few times which was super refreshing so bring your bathing suit if you want a quick dip. Can’t say enough about this getaway as it was super relaxing, romantic, beautiful, and exceeded our expectations. John is also an unreal host and helped us from start to finish making our stay super comfortable. Highly recommend this to any couple and we will be back someday! Shawn & Kate"

A great country property nestled up against a forested area. This was once a barn that has been converted into the wonderful space that it is today. A small screened in patio off the back to enjoy the mornings. Wonderful hiking trails located just a 2 minute walk away. A common draw to the area is the world famous Stratford festival just a short 15 minute drive away. This is a great retreat from the city. The Country Nook is right beside our house. But offers a ton of privacy. If you have any questions or need something please don't hesitate to knock or send us a message. There is no cellphone service but wifi calling allows your cellphone to work normally. With your opening message will send you how to use it.
Please note we have 2 large dogs who are confined to our property via an Invisible Fence System. They do roam our property but are not permitted in the retreat unit. If you wish to meet them please let us know. Finally, we have security cameras that face the drive way and nook entrance. They do not look into the unit itself and are there to monitor the property only.

For a perfect night's sleep, we provide a cozy deluxe queen size bed. Guests would only need to bring their own personal queen size sheet set (or sleeping bag), pillows, blankets, and towels.

You can safely dive off the T shaped dock (c/w canoe). Its 40 ft in length with a recently added 8 ft x16 ft. pontoon deck section. The dock is conveniently located only 300 ft away from the Yurt and only 40 ft. from the cabin.

During the cooler seasons, you will be kept snuggly warm even during the coldest of wintery nights inside Yurt's wool lined interior and our new high-functioning wood stove. Its large 17' diameter and 4' skylight makes it the perfect size for a couples getaway!

GREAT time of the grid! We came here for peace, relaxation, and the great outdoors. This property met those requirements and more. The yurt was well-equipped, cozy (thanks to the woodstove) and secluded enough that you felt away from everything, yet because it was only a short hike and 10 minute drive into town it was still convenient for us to get around and explore Huntsville. We had a wonderful time. The winter experience was truly a memorable one. It's definitely something that we can cross off our list now. We took advantage of the Arrowhead pass and explored the park. We particularly enjoyed skating through the forest. Meeting Doug and Orla was a complete pleasure as well. They were so sweet and welcoming, it made the experience more special.
We were pleased with the two nights and the urge of accomplishing something new was satisfied. Doug was generous enough to extend the third night to the next time we visit at which we were pleasantly surprised by. On our way home Emily and I discussed coming back. Hopefully in October to take advantage of the leaves changing.Thank you for everything and look forward to booking more adventures with you, Carla

Hi Doug and Orla: Stephanie and I had an absolutely amazing time at the yurt. We could not have imagined a better location and trip over all. As far as feedback I can honestly say I would not change a single thing. From the very first contact to the moment we drove away was perfect. Meeting Doug to show us the place was very nice and of course the property speaks for itself. We have many pictures and memories that will last a lifetime. Parking up to three vehicles; in winter, we recommend 4-wheel drive and snow tires.

Guests have access to the cabin and all outdoor areas. The basement is used for storage — please don’t open the hatch under the stairs.

Getting Here

We’re about 2 hours from Toronto. Once off Highway 400, the drive along Highway 11 and Highway 60 is beautiful — plan a stop at Webers for legendary burgers and milkshakes.

Driving is easiest, but you can also take a bus from Union Station or Toronto Pearson Airport to Huntsville, then use local taxis (guest discount details provided after booking).

Guest Capacity: Licensed for 2 guests max

Steps: 62 gentle steps to the front door — plan to pack light and minimize trips

Driveway: Steep and can be icy; 4-wheel drive and snow tires recommended

Garbage: Please take garbage with you; recycling can stay (blue bag in brown bin at driveway)

Neighbourhood: You’ll see neighbours and dogs; expect normal residential sounds

Dog Policy: Dogs on leash outdoors, off furniture indoors; not allowed at the beach

Wildlife: Deer are common; bears are rare — secure garbage and food

Safety: One exterior camera faces the driveway and is only checked if needed

Tucked away just a short walk from the parking area, the Bunkie offers a peaceful and private retreat surrounded by nature. To make your arrival easy, we provide a wheeled cart to help you transport your belongings from your vehicle to the Bunkie.

During your stay, you’ll enjoy exclusive access to your own private fire pit, a picnic table for outdoor dining, and a refreshing outdoor shower—perfect for embracing the outdoors in comfort and style.

Inside, the Bunkie is powered by a solar-charged BLUETTI AC70 power station, allowing you to conveniently charge your electronic devices and power lights at night, all while staying off-grid.

The driveway to the cottage is off of Keans Point Dr. From Esker turn left onto Keans Point Dr then right at first driveway.

White Birches Cottage resort just minutes from Algonquin Park. On the shore of Oxtongue Lake our cottages are located on the private beach.

Fire pit, Picnic Table, patio, BBQ Grill are provided for each cottages. The rental of the Canoe, Kayak, Paddle Board and safety Jacket is included.

We will be supplying beddings and towels. Full kitchen, cooking tools will be supplied.

New renovation and furniture are happening in the year 2025. Cottage 3 is a waterfront cottage.

Located in Bell Haven Park resort, in the heart of beautiful Kawarthas, 5 min drive from Bobcaygeon. Overlooking lake, steps from beach and playground. Full kitchen, living/dining area, full bathroom. Queen bed in the master bdrm, single over double bunk in the other 2 bdrms, double sofa in the living room. Fire pit, patio, picnic table, BBQ . Up to 2 hours a day free pedal-boat/canoe/kayak rental. Boat, boat slips available for rent. Seasonal outdoor pool (Jul long wknd - Sep long wknd).

One designated parking spot is available near each rental, additional vehicles to be parked on the parking lot in front of the park. ATVs, Dirt Bikes and Rally Jeeps are not allowed inside the park but can be parked on the parking lot outside the park.

Fully equipped kitchen with drip coffee maker (grinded coffee), dishes, utensils, microwave, toaster, pots and pans. Dish soap, paper towesl, dish sponge and dish cloth, sugar, salt are provided. Propane is provided for the BBQ.
Bathroom: hand soap, body wash/shampoo, hair conditioner and toilet paper are provided.

Rental has DVD player and satellite TV.

We have ice, worms, firewood and firestarts for sale. Only local wood can be used to prevent the movement of tree-killing pests.
