The cottage and hot tub are sanitized between each use according to the BC Centre for Disease Control. All linens and towels are washed on the sanitized cycle.

Due to the nature of the terrain, the property is only suited for adults. No pets or smoking on the property please. We provide scent free shower products.

This is an intimate cottage on the ocean. You can fish for salmon and halibut, kayak among seals, mountain bike as far as you like, surf , go whale watching or enjoy a quiet evening in the hot tub or in front of the indoor fireplace.

We have a 1.2 acre south facing property on Sooke Basin, a protected bay off of the Pacific. It's salt water but you'd think that it was a lake. Calm as a mill pond most days. You'll wake to the sounds of ducks, geese, swans, eagles and snorting seals.

We're located in Saseenos which is in a microclimate known to have the sunniest and mildest winters in Canada.

The cottage is set on an oceanfront corner of our property, with the main house set further back and on the other side of a fence. Although this is a shared property, you'll have lots of privacy.

The cottage is suitable for a maximum of 2 adults. The bedroom has a queen bed. The main room consists of a kitchen, dining and living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook, except food. Coffee and tea are provided. There is a dishwasher. The bathroom has a soaker tub and a separate shower. Linens and towels are provided. There is a new private hot tub on the cottage deck on the ocean side. We have a large 220 foot dock and a smaller deck that you are welcome to utilize. There is a rocky beach when it's low tide. The kayaks and lifejackets are available to use. Lots of charters available nearby if you'd like to go whale watching or fishing.

If you like to stay busy, there's lots to do. The Galloping Goose Trail is at the end of our street and is perfect for a morning run, bike ride or hike. The town of Sooke has fabulous restaurants and the nearby beaches are breathtaking.

You'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere but we're 5 minutes from the town of Sooke where you'll find grocery and liquor stores, Shopper's Drug Mart, banks, Tim Horton's and a variety of other stores/restaurants. Costco and other favorite stores are about 20 minutes away. We're 25 minutes to downtown Victoria.

This is truly paradise. The cabin can be used year round. This specific area of Sooke is known to have milder winters and the summers are often warm and sunny.

The cell service is a little hit and miss but there is WIFI for you to link to. There is parking for multiple vehicles or trailer. We do allow smoking outdoors but have strict rules. There is no cable TV but there is a streaming device and movies.

During the hotter months campfires are not allowed. A propane fire pit is provided but unfortunately the propane is not. We do provide a tank but it would be up to the guest to have it exchanged for a full one at our local corner store.

A wagon load of wood is provided for the indoor fireplace. We have large bins of firewood in the shed for $20. E-transfer is preferred for payment, the email address is located on the fridge. Please send a quick message and we will respond with the lock box code.

We are pet friendly but ask that you respect our rules. There is an extra fee of $30/pet, ***please add this fee when booking. All pets have to be kept in close proximity (not free to roam) or on leash when outside. We ask that you use the shovel provided to flick into the bushes. We really dislike having to handle left behind bagged dog poop.

Like new cabin situated on 2.3 acres at the head of Whalebone Cove in the beautiful Copper Bluff area of Quadra Island. The cabin sits on a mossy bluff above our home, overlooking Discovery Passage and the mountains beyond Campbell River. Looking westward it's hard to find a nicer sunset on Quadra Island. If the large front windows don't get you close enough, then just sit out on the deck and enjoy the show. The property has 240 feet of waterfront and a private dock. Tie up your boat, launch your kayak or just bring your fishing rod and enjoy the day. Our dock is equipped with power and fresh water. Take in the ever changing variety of marine life on the water including whales, dolphins, otters, seals and birds. Every day there is an interesting array of marine traffic including cruise ships from May to September.
You will love the surrounding moss covered bluffs and steep cliffs that make this area unique. We are close to some of the best hiking and biking trails on Quadra and a 15 minute drive to the Village Bay Lakes.
We are comfortably separated from Quadra's busier areas and still close enough to slip in for a beer at the pub or to shop for your next meal with a quick 12 minute drive to Heriot Bay.
Whalebone Cove Cabin is ideal for a most peaceful getaway. It has everything you need and then some. A fully stocked kitchen including the basic spices, coffee & tea, a very comfortable queen sized bed, a walk in shower, handmade natural soap, and a washer and dryer. We also provide a barbeque on the deck in case you have the urge to grill. And just to make sure you stay connected with the world, we have not forgotten a large screen TV and included the internet.
We are a 4 season cabin. You can enjoy the great outdoors during the warmer months or cozy up by the fireplace during the cooler months. Quadra Island is a great place to be at any time of the year.

This 2 bedroom cabin has a well equipped kitchen and private deck with patio furniture, propane BBQ and outdoor shower. Both bedrooms feature comfortable queen size beds with soft sheets and duvets and black out blinds. The custom bathroom features a bathtub/ shower combination. There is a comfortable three seat couch and bar area for working or eating. The cabin is small so is better suited for two or three guests if the weather is inclement. The outdoor hot tub is the perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate after an adventurous day exploring the local attractions. For those unexpected power outages, 60 Steps has a backup power source to make your stay more comfortable. Not suitable for young children. No pets permitted, owner lives on site. If you wish to entertain friends or family during your stay this cabin is not suitable as it is intended for a maximum of four guests.

Our cottage can be your home away from home with top end appliances, quartz countertops and full amenities. There are 2 bedrooms and a loft with a pullout couch. You can comfortably sleep 6 people. The master suite has a luxurious king size bed. The great room has lots of space to relax and has a mounted flat screen smart TV. Our guests have thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the large back deck, enjoying a moment of peace on the comfy garden swing, The loft is a versatile space to relax, sleep and also hosts is a second big screen TV. Our cottage is also fully equipped with all the amenities such as built in air-conditioning, laundry, and glassed in shower. The cottage backs onto the Grotto for the Tigh Na Mara Resort.

Our cottage is approximately an 8 minute walk from Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park entrance. The park has endless beaches that are great for young children with long stretches of sand and numerous trails to hike on. There is a large children’s play area at Rathtrevor Beach and they often run activities during the summer season. For the adults in the group we have two spas within walking distance. Tranquil Day Spa is a part of the Oceanside Village Resort and next door to our resort is the Grotto Spa at Tigh Na Mara. We have included links below for your convenience of booking any spa treatments while you are staying.

There are many sites near this cottage that make this area the most desirable place in the center island to stay. The complex has a great bistro restaurant as well as a hair salon, and spa. Amenities include an indoor heated pool and hot tub right at the resort for your own use. There are also gym facilities in the same building as the pool and hot tub.

We are a pet friendly cottage since we have dogs in our lives as well. We simply ask that you take care of tiding up after you pet and do have supplies here for that purpose.

Serendipity is located on beautiful Galiano Island...It is situated on Whaler Bay, and is nestled amongst the forest and wildlife...It is a well kept 50's pan-abode log cabin, on the water with a beautiful view...Deer, racoons, otters and eagles regularily frolick through-out the property.

Quiet, serene, and comfortable, this little beauty sleeps two in the main cabin, but also has a guest cabin which sleeps two as well.....( this is an additional 50 pr. night, but can be negotiated for long term rentals).

It is walking distance from the main ferry terminal as well as the local shops and the Madrona which is a world class spa.

Because the water is collected from rain water and has been treated, there is bottled water provided for drinking. The tap water is used for dishes and showers.
Please limit your showers to a min. in the summer as Galiano is one of the driest gulf islands and water must be brought in by truck to the its not a problem in the winter, because of the rain.

There is no garbage pickup on the island so please take your garbage back with you. There is a compost to use for food scraps to help condense the waste.

Serendipity is a wonderful quaint and peaceful cabin that I know, you will enjoy and feel relaxed by the time you check out.

Our charming cottage is set amongst other cottages in the forest alongside the Koksilah River. The surroundings are beautiful and serene.
The cottage sleeps six and on the main floor offers a bedroom (queen), bathroom (heated floor, refurbished 80 year old claw foot tub and shower. Kitchen (gas range, full size fridge), dining and living area (wood burning stove). The upstairs loft is open and airy with views of the forest and the river. It is accessed by ladder stairs that may be tricky for younger children. It features 2 queen sized beds and a family area.
At the back of the cottage, through French doors off of the kitchen and dining area there are two decks overlooking the forest and the river. There you will find a Weber barbecue, fire table and outdoor furniture that you can enjoy as you sit back and take in the view, the soothing sounds of the river, and quite simply… nature.
The cottage is a retreat to return to after a day of antiquing, enjoying the water hole at the river, swimming in nearby Shawnigan Lake or touring wineries, local markets… perhaps a lavender farm. The Kinsol Trestle is about a 20 minute walk and if you prefer a longer hike, you can continue on for miles in the woods along well-groomed paths.
Although the cottage is tucked away, it is close to abundant shopping including:
Cobble Hill, approximately 15 minutes away, offers groceries and amazing fresh roasted coffee.
- Cowichan Bay, approximately 20 minutes away, is on the ocean and offers restaurants, bakeries, shops… even ocean kayaking.
Duncan is approximately a 30 minute drive north. On Saturdays in the spring, summer and fall, there is an amazing farmers market.

The cabin was built for a couple’s retreat, with the ability to accommodate 4 guests in a pinch. The futon (which shares the same space as the king) folds into a double bed which works for many families. We do not recommend our cabin for 4 adults staying more than a couple nights. It is truly perfect for two.

Post and beam timbers shelter the cabin's exterior living space from the elements for year-round enjoyment. The private and carefully maintained hot tub welcomes an evening soak. A couple chairs and propane barbeque round out the deck.

The Salal cabin sits approximately 120' from the main home and is buffered by various trees and foliage. It is your own private retreat to enjoy.

Our neighbourhood is made up of large residential properties mostly tucked away in the trees. The Millstream area is unique due to its private rural setting while being only five minutes from town. Proximity to the Pacific Rim National Park (walking distance), and the Wild Pacific Trial trailhead is a fantastic bonus for those who love to explore.

The Pacific Rim is by nature very car dependant. There is no public transit and only one taxi available. We highly recommend you arrive with your own vehicle so you can take advantage of everything the area has to offer.
The trail linking Tofino and Ucluelet is now complete and paved. We are a couple hundred yards from the trail, which now allows for a much more enjoyable experience for those that like to explore by bicycle.

The hot tub is operational year-round and continues to receive proper attention after each departure. We follow provincial guidelines for sanitation and operation of the hot tub.

We do welcome one (1) well mannered pup pre reservation. It is the responsibility of the dog’s owner to keep their four-legged friend’s hair and fur off the linen and out of the hot tub. ** Please message us with the breed(s) and number of dogs prior to booking if you would like to bring more than one pup** Guests are responsible for any damage to the cabins, furnishings (including linens), and property caused by their pets. Calmwater Retreat is nestled on a quiet residential street. The Wild Pacific Trail meanders through the breathtaking old-growth forest that surrounds Calmwater, featuring benches where you can pause to admire Ucluelet's ancient trees and numerous viewpoints to take in the stunning ocean vistas. Just across from Calmwater Retreat lies the entrance to Ucluelet's renowned Lighthouse Loop Trail and Terrace Beach. Directions:
Once you arrive at the Ucluelet/Tofino Junction, turn left and follow Peninsula Road through downtown. Your cabin will be on the left at 1003 Peninsula Road, marked by a large Calmwater Retreat sign. The location may appear slightly off on maps, but it will be clearly labeled and is directly across from Terrace Beach.

- "Lovely accommodation with privacy, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, well located and maintained. When 6 people are staying it would be nice to have an extra comfy seat in the main room and 6 seats at the table (we were able to use the chairs from by the hot tub). There is a lot of light in the main room as curtains don’t cover the windows (not great for those sleeping on the sofa bed). Nice trail two doors down, very convenient for town. Would definitely visit again!"

The space
This is a self-contained cottage. There is a queen-size bed in the sleeping loft, an equipped kitchen, dining area, double fold-out bed in the living area and composting toilet.
There are no bathing facilities, no shower or bath. There is a courtyard with a view of the garden. There is parking. The cottage is close to hiking, beaches, and a 4-star resort.

Guest access
The cottage is all yours for the duration of your stay. Feel free to explore the garden and the rest of the property, be sure to close gates behind you. If you want to see the straw-bale house and workshop, the stained glass and woodwork, just ask and I will be happy to show you around.

If you're looking for waterfront privacy and immersion in nature, this Cortes Island cabin set in 10 acres of forest with stunning sunset views may be what you're looking for. Equipped w/ Wifi, full kitchen, phone. Rustic feel not for everyone.

The space
Reachable by 2 ferries from Campbell River (first to Quadra, then to Cortes), Cortes Island is a small island with a progressive counter-culture vibe.

The cabin is fully equipped with full kitchen, full bath with tub, WiFi, ipod dock (iPhone 4 or earlier connector), tv/dvd. It has a rustic feel in harmony with nature.

Downstairs is an open living room, dining room and kitchen with wood stove and sunset views west out over Gorge Harbour. Upstairs is a large bedroom with 2 queen beds and 1 double bed.

Surrounding the cabin are large wooden decks built into the mossy bluffs. There is a small rocky beach just below the cabin for swimming. If you'd like to explore the harbour by boat, kayaks are available for rent at the Gorge Harbour Marina (about a 5 min drive away).

Note: the Wifi is new as of Aug 2014. Getting internet access to this remote spot is a expensive undertaking and there is limited monthly download capacity so we ask you avoid large downloads and it is not appropriate for very heavy users.

Peak summer rentals are Saturday to Saturday only and for a minimum of a week. Other periods the dates are flexible but with a 3 day minimum.

This cabin isn't for everyone so please read the house rules and/or check with us before booking and we'll make sure the place is right for you. I do not recommend the cabin for families with young children as there aren't really railings on the decks and there are steep drop-offs. Please also check the location of Cortes Island before booking, to get there from Vancouver requires 3 ferries and about 8 hours so it is not really suitable for a weekend trip from the city unless you are already on Vancouver Island. And the furniture and the appliances are old and funky as this is a family cabin that has changed little since the 70s; everything works of course but if you're looking for gleaming and new, this isn't the place for you.

Some details / frequently asked questions:

We do not live on the island so support is limited. A neighbor can help with emergencies. We do have a cleaner that comes in between visitors but there is no laundry at the cabin and no time for her to do laundry. As such we request visitors either bring their own linens (sheets, towels, tea towel) or launder any used at the laundromat before they leave. You are also responsible for making sure all your dishes are done and the kitchen is tidy before you go. You must also take all garbage with you or to the dump before you leave. Or if leaving on a Saturday you can leave main garbage can at the road by early Saturday morning.

The driveway up to the cabin is gravel and steep in parts. You don't need a 4WD but if there is snow on the ground you may be better off parking at the bottom of the driveway and walking the 300 m or so up to the cabin.

The cabin is spacious but there are just two big open rooms plus the bathroom. The upstairs is separated by an open stairway so keep in mind that you can't close a door and get full noise separation.

If you've viewed the listing in previous years, we added a septic system and normal toilet in 2019 so the "sawdust toilet" is a thing of the past. But please conserve water, our well is limited. There is no longer a landline phone.

Please advise us if you wish to bring a pet, prior approval is required. Dogs must be leashed outside the cabin as deer live in the area and there have been wolves spotted nearby and cougars spotted on the island as well. There is a small pet fee to give the cleaner extra time to clean.

Hot water on demand, propane stove, heat pump, TV and bluetooth speaker are a few amenities. Sit on the deck with the propane fire, relive the fun day, or plan the next. Snuggle on the queen sized bed. Play a game on the small table. Whatever you chose to do, you will be content before your next day of exploring.

Sorry no pets. Also used for our Grandson’s visits. He has horrid allergies.

The space
Cabin and our home are set back on the property, nestled on an acre almost 80’ from our home on a fairly quiet road. Surrounded with grass, Alder and fir trees. The best of both worlds, sun and shade. You are welcome to move the green chairs anywhere in the yard, but ask that you leave the backyard of the house for us.

The space
The Salal cabin is designed to deliver the comforts and amenities desired on your trip to the Pacific Rim. The private hot tub is only the icing on the cake.

The cabin features hardwood floors throughout the living space, with tile in the kitchen and bathroom. The luxurious bathroom features heated floors and a deep soaker tub for those that like to indulge in a bath. A full second set of towels, along with beach/ hot tub towels are provided.

The kitchen is outfitted to make cooking during your stay a breeze. All cookware and supplies are well kept and ready for your creations.

The Salal cabin is tech friendly - it is within cell service and has Telus wifi so you can stay connected.... but we won't tell anyone if you claim to be out of range;) There is a smartTV mounted above the fireplace offering direct access to Netflix and various apps.

The cabin was built for a couple’s retreat, with the ability to accommodate 4 guests in a pinch. The futon (which shares the same space as the king) folds into a double bed which works for many families. We do not recommend our cabin for 4 adults staying more than a couple nights. It is truly perfect for two.

Post and beam timbers shelter the cabin's exterior living space from the elements for year-round enjoyment. The private and carefully maintained hot tub welcomes an evening soak. A couple chairs and propane barbeque round out the deck.

Guest access
The Salal cabin sits approximately 120' from the main home and is buffered by various trees and foliage. It is your own private retreat to enjoy.

Other things to note
The hot tub is operational year-round and continues to receive proper attention after each departure. We follow provincial guidelines for sanitation and operation of the hot tub.

We do welcome one (1) well mannered pup pre reservation. It is the responsibility of the dog’s owner to keep their four-legged friend’s hair and fur off the linen and out of the hot tub. ** Please message us with the breed(s) and number of dogs prior to booking if you would like to bring more than one pup** Guests are responsible for any damage to the cabins, furnishings (including linens), and property caused by their pets. Please include in your booking note: your pups name, and breed. We do not welcome any other pets at this time.
