In beautiful Port Elgin, Ontario, a 10 minute walk to the shores of Lake Huron and a 10 minute walk from downtown. Our cottage is quite small but functional and a great use of space, perfect for those who like a nice indoor space but appreciate being outside. The cottage is all new inside and equipped with most large and small appliances in the kitchen, 42" TV with digital cable and wifi, and washer and dryer for your use as well as all bed linens.

The space
**Please note- the listing changes based on the season
During the summer months (June-September) our bunkie is open (a separate structure in the backyard) which houses 3 additional beds (1 king and two bunks OR 4 twin size beds depending on the set up) to make sleeping space for 4 additional guests. This space is sleeping room ONLY. There is no heat or ac. If you wish to have use of the bunkie you will need to reserve your booking accordingly. If you book for 3 guests, it will be assumed the usage of the cottage only and you will be not left keys for the bunkie. If you book for 4-7 guests, we will leave keys for the bunkie. Understand that cleaning and changing over an additional space requires more time, and therefore there is an upcharge per guests past 3.
In the winter months we advertise our space as sleeping room for 3 only as the bunkie is not open.
This little haven is a true piece of our hearts. We purchased the then run down property in 2009 as our first home together. Due to the bylaws we weren't able to expand the original footprint more than 4 feet so were left to work with what was there. We lifted the original cottage up with a crane and moved it off to the side of the property where it sat while we dug a hole for the foundation and basement where the master bedroom, ensuite bathroom, washer and dryer and walk in closet now are. Once that was complete we lifted the original structure back up and placed it on the new foundation. The 4 foot allowance made just enough room for the stairs to the basement. We did all the renovations ourselves and lived in the property for 4 years before purchasing something the same (run down and needing some love) in Southampton.. but on a much larger scale. Letting this property go was not ever in the questions so we've kept it and share it with our family and friends and all of you!
Guest access
Normally throughout the winter months we have a long term tenant. In the summer the bunkie is open to tenants who book accordingly- (where there is sleeping room for 4 more guests) but we use it for storage in the winter- and it would not likely be warm enough for guests anyways. Please do not use this area.
Other things to note
We reiterate again that our little slice of heaven is not huge- but it is functional. This is an ideal set up for a single person or a couple with younger children perhaps. The loft space is accessed by way of a ladder and is really only useful when it comes to sleeping, please keep that in mind. We also do allow dogs from time to time with the right communication and agreements with our tenants. This is because we don't often travel without our dogs, Bruce and Floyd. Please keep this in mind when booking. While we clean the place well between guests, it is impossible to get all dog hair. If there are severe pet hair allergies this might not be the place for you.

**We do not "provide" food/condiments/laundry detergent. If those things are here than guests are welcome to use them but this is not included in the pricing.
***Please accurately indicate how many guests will be staying. Beds will only be made for the number indicated on your reservation. The bunkie will not be available unless you reserve as so. Reservations over 3 guests are $10 per person. Please do not write this in your message stating there are more people coming, indicate it accurately when you book

The Maples Cottages in Port Elgin is a family-oriented cottage park located a short walk to The Main Beach in Port Elgin. We have 7 two bedroom cottages and 1 three bedroom cottage. Each cottage has an equipped kitchen, along with a BBQ, picnic table and firepit. Each cottage has wifi, sat. tv and is very clean. There is abundant things to do if you are not a beach person, biking, golf, hiking, shopping. Take a day trip to Tobermory or bike ride to McGregor Prov. park.

Cottage C is in center of cottage park with its own front deck and small rear sitting area.
Other things to note
We do not supply bed linens, towels or bathroom supplies but if you are traveling a distance and can’t bring your own, we will be happy to supply them.

Welcome to Northshore cottages place.
Cabin 3, has two bedrooms with a double bed, two single beds and a pullout couchbed for additional 2 people. It can accept 6 people.
