Immerse yourself in nature in this tranquil and spacious 2-bedroom suite, nestled on 6 acres of wooded land near Port Crescent State Park and the shores of Lake Huron. This creative escape provides instruments, art supplies, and original artwork by the host. Equipped with A/C, Fireplace, Wi-Fi, and a Bluetooth/vinyl speaker, but no TV, encouraging you to fully unwind. This location is ideal for fishing, hiking, birdwatching, and stargazing. Enhance your experience with access to rent a sauna.

The space
We call our place: Star Forest Stay. The main and guest bedroom doors are pocket doors with privacy glass that do not lock. There are skylights in the main room and bathroom above the shower.
The main bedroom has the shower area inside a private entrance bathroom that can be shared with other guests.

Amenities: You’ll have access to a full kitchen with additional amenities including a full line of spices and herbs, an assortment of oils, a knife set, a popcorn maker, a blender, a small food processor, a coffee grinder, an espresso machine, a vegetable spiralizer, a kitchenaid mixer, a pastry board and baking sheets, a cast iron skillet and a full set of non-stick select pans by calaphon, and a donut maker. We also have a fire pit and 3 burner outdoor BBQ grill with utensils located in the kitchen. There is no dishwasher on site. Please contact us with any questions you may have if you’re not sure how to use.

A/C: We have automated A/C units in the main room and laundry room that can cool the whole place. We also have floor and ceiling fans to circulate the cool air in the space. We have found that the units can cool the space down to about 72 degrees on a 90 degree day.

Water: This place runs on well water and a septic tank. We have recently installed a water softener with Culligan water and it is great for washing dishes/laundry and showering. We will also have a 5 stage filtered water faucet at the kitchen sink.

The Forest: our 6 acre forest bumps right up to Port crescent state park. We have groundskeepers that upkeep the land between guests. Please use the “pack it in, pack it out” method when staying here. That means, no alcohol bottles thrown from the back porch or cigarette butts flicked anywhere within our area.

Guest access
The main floor is accessible with what we have listed. Please do not enter the crawl space. There are also specific drawers in the home that are locked and labeled for housekeepers only.

Other things to note
Important: Before you arrive you will be asked to complete guest verification through third-party provider Truvi. This is done to ensure we are keeping up-to-date with short-term rental regulations as well as providing both our guests and our properties with extra protection. Truvi will contact you via email and/or text to complete the verification. Please do so prior to arriving at the property to enable a quick and easy check-in process.

We use Truvi as part of our guest screening process. Your application must have the primary guest name on the reservation, and your background check must be completed 48 hours of receiving your booking confirmation as per State and City law. Your booking is NOT confirmed until these requirements have been fulfilled. Once the reservation is confirmed, and to check-in, guests must sign a Rental Agreement, stating that they agree:
- to abide by our rental terms and conditions;
- to provide a copy of a valid government-issued ID and matching credit card prior to check-in
- to pay non-refundable damage waiver via Truvi, which will cover you for any accidental damage during your stay

Please note that once you have booked, your booking confirmation will include your Truvi booking validation link. The validation process includes a Security Deposit + ID verification.

We use Truvi to collect a fully refundable deposit (+ non-refundable admin fee) that covers any accidental damage caused during your stay.

Upon pre-approval, you will have two choices:
A $15 admin non refundable admin fee + Refundable damage deposit of $500;
Or
a $35 non-refundable admin fee for a $500 damage waiver.

You may choose either one.

Attention: If using American Express, you will need to make other arrangements with Truvi to use a different credit card to book and pay for this deposit. We will not ask for a deposit through Airbnb as it goes against the guidelines we have set forth with Truvi.

We take our reservations in high regard. If you decide not to work with us to get approved through Superhog and this is a last minute booking, we will not accept refunds beyond what we placed under our listing cancellation policy. This is how we protect our assets and reservations.

Sauna: There is also a wood-fired traveling sauna @pondrsauna that is potentially on site while you are staying here. When on site, it is available to rent. Feel free to reach out before your stay date for a discounted sauna add on with your stay. The owners may also be coming to pick it up if the traveling sauna becomes rented. We will contact you if the sauna gets rented to coordinate an arrival to come by and pick it up.

Hunting: There is no hunting allowed on our acreage. Please be advised that this cabin is not considered a suitable space for dressing the game you hunt. We consider this cabin a retreat space to relax.

The living space is an open concept kitchen, dining and living area.
The cabin can comfortably accommodate twelve guests, with two private bedrooms and a loft.

The space
You will access the cabin through the side porch, where you are welcomed by a large entry area. Your eyes will be immediately drawn to the lake view through the windows on the right. That living space is open and airy; comprising the living room, dining room and kitchen. To the left are two private bedrooms and the main bathroom.

Upstairs is a large open loft with plenty of additional space. There is a nice area with a pull-out couch, chair and TV. There are two defined sleeping areas as well.

The cabin can comfortably accommodate twelve guests. The private bedrooms on the main floor each have a queen bed and the loft has a full pull-out couch, two queen beds and three twin beds.

In the basement is an additional half bath and a space suitable for hanging out. There is a table and chairs so you have another area for people to gather.

The outdoor amenities can't be beat. There is a large covered porch with plenty of seating for you to relax and enjoy the breathtaking view of the lake. A few steps away, and closer to the lake, is a deck with a large dining set. There are two outdoor firepits; one on the beach and one closer to the street which is ideal when the winds off the lake are not conducive to a beach bonfire. We have plenty of firewood to keep your fire going long into the night.

The cabin is perfect, and you may not want to leave the property, but Port Austin is a charming town and worth a visit. It is a short two-mile trek to town where you'll find restaurants, gift shops and parks.

Sunset Cabin is available for 6 night stays, beginning June 2nd 2025 thru August 31st, with CHECK-IN being on MONDAY at 2 pm and CHECK-OUT being on SUNDAY at noon. Sunset Cabin is also available for 2 night minimum stays during the spring and fall months. If you would prefer a longer trip length, please reach out to us and we may be able to accommodate you.

Please respect our maximum number of guests to include only 12 people. Should you exceed our maximum number of 12 guests, the cleaning fee will be doubled.

Guests have access to the entire space, other than a locked owner's closet.

Other things to note
There are two private bedrooms on the main floor. Upstairs are two defined sleeping areas that are part of an open loft; not private bedrooms.

The cabin is shaded by trees and there is a lovely breeze from the lake most of the time, however, there are air conditioning units located throughout the cabin should you need them.

The sandstone leading to the water is VERY slippery when wet. Water shoes are recommended.

Please respect our maximum number of guests to include only 12 people. Should you exceed our maximum number of 12 guests, the cleaning fee will be doubled.

Sunset Cabin is available for 6 night stays, beginning June 16th, 2025 thru August 31st, with CHECK-IN being on MONDAY at 2 pm and CHECK-OUT being on SUNDAY at noon. Our spacious house is located down a quiet road just over a mile from Oak Beach. The house is surrounded by towering oak trees and there’s plenty of wildlife. There’s a lot of extra space to spread out in the house or the spacious yard.

You’ll find yourself within minutes (less than ten miles) of Port Austin, Caseville, Port Crescent State Park, Sleeper State Park, Huron County Nature Center (great hikes), kayak and canoe rentals, and many attractions and restaurants.

The space
The house is located on just under three acres. The garage that sits out front is unavailable during the rental but you’ll enjoy the whole house with a walk out basement to the back yard with a small sand volleyball court.

The garage is not accessible and the utility room in the basement will be locked. You’ll also find a few locked drawers and cabinets.
