- "We were there with my 14 year old son, who is developmentally disabled and his 13 year old sister. They both had an amazing time fishing and kayaking from the dock. One night, my son took the kayak clear across the lake and Tad took the time to go find him and bring him back. The cabin is comfortable, but there is no stove. However, there is a gas and charcoal grill which we used to cook chicken and the fish my son caught. Easily, the best trip to Michigan. Thank you again to Tad and his wife."

Lake has a no-wake rule from 7:30 pm until 11:30 am, allowing for tranquil mornings and evenings, and still plenty of time for all the fun during the day.

Waters and Heart Lake are just 15 minutes to Gaylord with plenty of restaurants and shopping. The cottage is close to I-75 and just an hour to Mackinac or Traverse City.

For winter, the cottage is just 100 yards from trail 7, one of the main snowmobile trails that connect with hundreds of miles of additional trails. Park your sleds in the detached garage. Nearby Treetops has downhill skiing and the cottage is close to the Otsego Ski Club. With some of the best snowfall in Michigan, Otsego County is in the heart of all of the winter activities including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding.

The house includes a two-car garage -- so you can leave your recreational toys if you rent more than a week or a month allowing you to travel back and forth downstate. Snowmobiles will be allowed in the detached garage only

The house includes a large master bedroom with a king bed and large private bath, the second bedroom has a double bed off of the living area. The third bedroom is a loft with a queen bed and three twin beds. The fourth bedroom is above the garage with a sitting area and TV and a full bath. This is separated from the 5th bedroom by sliding barn doors. There is a third bath off the living area near bedroom two. The living/dining area is open with a vaulted ceiling and windows that look out on the lake. Total the house sleeps up to 12 - 10 adults max.

Belle's Rest is a cozy cabin in the heart of Northern Michigan. It is nestled in a neighborhood of cabins by Otsego Lake. Despite the vintage decor, the cabin offers modern conveniences and a great kitchen! You will find Belle's Rest to be a great home-base for your time Up North. Guests will have access to Otsego Lake, and all the Northern Michigan favorites are within 45 minutes to 1.5 hours away!

The space
Belle's Rest is my newly redecorated personal home! This is my 5th summer renting my house. I worked hard over the 2020 lockdown to redecorate everything so I could rent it while I was working in Alaska. I am the lodge manager for my friend's fishing lodges in Kenai, AK. I will be gone mid-May through the first week of September. I have been super excited about how my cabin has turned out, and I would love to share it with others while I am away!

My house is located on the west side of Otsego Lake - you will have lake access, as well as some great nearby options for experiencing the lake. You can see one of the channels to Otsego Lake at the end of the road, as you pull into the driveway. If you walk on the road behind the house, the actual lake is 1.5 blocks away. There is a little entry at that point, which would be great for dropping in a kayak or canoe or doing a little swimming. The neighborhood association is not interested in sharing their lake access lot with Airbnb guests; however, I will provide a pass to Otsego Lake County Park (1/4 mile down the road - very walkable) so you have access to the lake during your stay. It's a beautiful park and campground with a boat launch, picnic pavilions, and a swimming and beach area. The best beach on the lake will be Otsego Lake State Park. It is catty corner across the lake from my house, and it's about a 5 mile drive. It's a beautiful beach! Unfortunately I do not yet have water toys for folks to use, but you can check into Action Outdoor Rentals to rent some! They meet you at the County Park.

My remodel is still in progress. I still need to build the wall between the main room and the master bedroom (see pictures for the current set up), replace the flooring, and replace the temporary countertops with permanent counters (I painted and sealed them, but it is a temporary fix). In 2020, I purchased a brand new fridge and gas stove. In April 2021, I installed a new water heater and a brand new washer/dryer combo. I updated the water filter and pressure tank in 2024! There is a system flush mid-day (after a specific quantity of water has been used). It’s best to not use the water while it’s running. If water pools in a bath, it’s still slightly discolored, but it’s much better than it was previously. I will continue to provide purified water in a water cooler, if you prefer to use that; however, rest assured the water is drinkable and usable for cooking/cleaning.

The rest of the cabin is newly redecorated (in 2020). I made many of my decorations - including the curtains, shower curtain, tablecloth, pot holders, some wall hangings, etc. Definitely enjoy them, but please treat them kindly! I would love to enjoy them when I return. :)

I do not have air conditioning. It is well insulated, so most of the summer it stays pretty cool. Opening windows to get a cross breeze going helps a great deal, and the bedrooms and main room will all have fans. I usually keep the overhead light off in the master bedroom and use the light switch to turn the fan on/off, but you are welcome to do whatever makes the most sense for you! The main room can get warm if you are doing a lot of cooking and baking due to the gas stove. Outside of that, things stay decently cool.

I have a bistro set, a gas grill, and a fire pit available for your use. I will provide camp chairs, roasting sticks, and enough firewood for 1-2 fires. Thanks to our ice storm this year, I have an extra wood pile available for your use! Should you need more, you can purchase additional wood around town. Many people sell wood on the side of the road, or you can grab it from the store. The white cupboard in the kitchen is a pantry for your food during your stay, and I have a cute vintage am/fm radio with a bluetooth speaker for you to use.

Guest access
You will have access to my entire house, minus a couple of dressers, a chest, and a small storage closet in the bathroom. I will be using these items to store some of my belongings. There will be one dresser and a closet in each bedroom for guest use, along with the desk in the 2nd bedroom. The garage is the only thing entirely off limits. It is command central station for my housecleaners and the lawn care worker. They will be using it to clean both my house and my A-frame cabin rental next door (Hephzibah's Haven, also listed on Airbnb). They may need to access the garage occasionally while you are there, but only for limited periods of time. The garage is separate from the house and set back a little bit, so it should not bother you too much. The lawn will be mowed weekly; I will do my best to give you a timeframe on what to expect. Also, you are welcome to use the wine glasses and bowls/small appliances in the bottom of the green hutch. I kindly ask you to refrain from using the decorative dishes on the top.

Other things to note
If you plan to bring a pet that is used to sleeping on beds and/or furniture, please bring a sheet or blanket for them to lay on. This will greatly help out my cleaners as they clean between guests.

I have had to replace the bedroom door two times in the past 3 years, as it has been broken during the summer - once from a dog and once from a human. Please do not leave pets shut in the room if they have a tendency to destroy doors. I will have my cleaners check it after every stay this summer and will submit a claim through the Resolution Center if it is found to be broken.

Cottage 3 is apart of Heart Lake Resort. Heart Lake Resort is a lake resort with six other small cottages and one lake home on the property. The grounds are shared with the other cottages/lake home. This includes the bonfire pit, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and beach access. Firewood is provided at the shared bonfire pit.

The hosts live in the walkout basement of The Big House with separate access to their space. The hosts ask that guests be mindful of their noise level. No parties allowed.

Regardless of which season and level of adventure you are seeking, you will find Hephzibah's Haven to be a great home-base for your time Up North. Guests will have access to Otsego Lake, and all of the Northern Michigan favorites are within 45 minutes to 1.5 hours away!

The space
Hephzibah's Haven is very near and dear to my heart. It is the first house I purchased, and I lived there for a little over 3 years (yes, I slept in the loft every night!). I absolutely loved my time in the cabin, and I am excited to share my place with guests! I bought the cabin next door, so I am not too far away.

The cabin is on the west side of Otsego Lake. While it is not on the lake, you can see the lake at the end of the road. There is "unofficial" lake access at the end of the block, and official lake access a couple of blocks away. You can keep your boat in the lake at the lake access site. Depending on the boat traffic, there may be a space available at the dock. At minimum, you can anchor it in the water nearby. Otsego County Park is only a 1/4 mile away; there is a path through the woods at the end of the neighborhood, if you want to walk. It's a beautiful park! Also, Otsego Lake State Park is about 5 miles away, kitty corner from where my house is located on the lake. It is also a beautiful park!

Hephzibah's Haven feels like you are truly "Up North," but you are only 5 minutes away from modern conveniences! Gaylord has Walmart, Meijer, Kohl's TJ Maxx, Panera Bread, and 5 Guys (among other things....and many amazing local options!). Between the cabin and it's location, you will be able to do just about anything you wish to do! Gaylord is a golf mecca and also has ski resorts, cross-country ski and snowshoe trails, snowmobiling trails, and a multitude of lakes! Drive time to local attractions is as follows:

There is a well-stocked library, games, a deck and bistro set, a fire pit (including chairs and everything needed for a bonfire), a TV and DVD player, and wifi. I also enjoy cooking and baking, so I believe in having a well-stocked kitchen. You should find everything you need to make a feast. If you don't have something you need, let me know! This cabin will sleep six people comfortably. The downstairs bedroom is the main bedroom. It has a small closet and dresser, along with a double bed. There is a large jacuzzi tub in the bedroom, as well. It is currently not available for "regular" use. Feel free to use it to wash kiddos or anything else you might need. It simply takes too long to fill and does not have the capacity to keep up with the hot water demand. I'm hoping to fix this, but for now is only available for smaller uses.

The other four sleeping spots are in the loft (or the sleeping hatch, as my sister calls it!). There is a beautiful Queen bed and two twin air mattresses that are made up like normal beds (including foam pads). This is the warmest place to sleep in the winter! The ladder is steep, but very sturdy! There is a nightlight plugged in at night, which helps tremendously if you need to climb down during the night. In 3 years of sleeping up there, I have never fallen. I would not recommend changing or storing clothes up there, as it can be difficult to carry things up the ladder and the windows are a bit revealing. I typically stored everything in the downstairs bedroom, and slept upstairs. The loft can also be a great place for kids to play during the day, which can free up the main room. I have provided a backpack (in the closet downstairs) to aid with taking things up and down the loft ladder.

The cabin is perfectly cozy with all of the "UP North" vibes during every season of the year. There is no AC during the summer, but there are very few days when you will feel like you need it. Typically, opening the windows and using the ceiling fan will suffice. During the winter, there is radiant floor heating (a furnace) that acts as the main source of general heat (when you are away or at night). When you are home, the gas stove heats the room beautifully - and quickly - with a single switch. Keep in mind, this is a cabin in the woods; there are occasionally insects, spiders, etc. that make appearances.

There is a washer and dryer available. You are welcome to use it! Due to the hard water, I would recommend not washing whites. Everything else is fine to wash. Laundry soap and dryer sheets are available.

Cabin amenities include: Coffee pot, toaster, microwave, blender, small crockpot, washer/dryer, hair dyer, iron, small ironing board, library, games, coloring books, towels, beach towels, DVD player, DVDs, wifi, TV with Roku stick (Netflix, SlingTV - including ESPN, Amazon Prime, and other free channels), a fire pit, camping chairs, roasting sticks, a stack of wood (if you need additional, you will need to purchase), bistro table on the back deck, a picnic basket, a hammock, alarm clocks with radio and auxiliary cords, shampoo/conditioner, soap, a backpack to carry things up and down the ladder, clothesline, and a binder with useful information and tips.

Guest access
The cabin sits on a lot with road access on either end. You will typically drive in and park on the front side of the house, but the back road will allow easy access to the shed, the fire pit, and a walk to the lake. There is a back deck with a bistro set. Guests can use the shed if they would like. The garbage cans are housed there, along with the wood and campfire equipment. However, there should be plenty of extra room if they would like to store items inside. There is also access to the lake available.

Other things to note
The water at the cabin is very hard. It is perfectly fine for washing dishes, showering, etc. There is a filter in the shower, which helps a lot. You are welcome to drink the water if you desire to do so (I have guests who do!). I personally do not like the taste of the water, so I have provided purified water for your convenience. Keep in mind the water does color things at times (like the toilet). It is clean! It just stains easily with the water.

I have had skunks walk through my property over the past few summers. I have never once been sprayed! Most of the time, I just turned on the back deck light and did a quick scan before heading out back at night. As long as you stay calm and don't threaten them, you should be fine. I also won't be throwing out my veggies in the woods anymore, so that should help!

Contained fire-pits are located outside for night time bon fires. Firewood is not provided. Smart TV has Amazon Fire Stick to log into your accounts (no satellite cable). Wi-Fi included.

Cabin is on the smaller side, only approx. 400 square feet. 2 adults and 2-3 kids OR 4 adults is MAX occupancy. There are 2 double beds and a small couch that does not pull out to a bed.

Very Important: Corey Cove is a family friendly resort. There are 9 cabins and several owners live in their cabins full-time. There are quiet hours and it is expected to be respectful of others. This is a place to come enjoy yourself and have a peaceful vacation. This is not the location to plan a wild bachelor party or anything of that nature. Guests who choose to not follow posted rules will be asked to leave without refund.

Other Notes: There is NO washer or dryer in the cabin. There is a laundry mat a short drive away in town. Additionally, towels, sheets, and blankets are NOT provided. Please bring your own blankets for the beds and any towels you will need. Clean sheets and pillow cases will be on the beds. No dogs - sorry no exceptions.

Also - if booking in early part of year and planning to bring a boat - message to confirm docks will be in water by time of your stay. There is a State park, County park and public launch all within a short drive to put your boat in and out of water. We usually try to have the docks in the water around Memorial Day and they come out of the water shortly after Labor Day.

AREA: the property is less than 8 miles to downtown Gaylord and 5 miles to the closest gas station. Gaylord has a wide range of restaurants and shops. Gaylord's historic Alpine Village is home to independently-owned shops for a truly one-of-a-kind dining and shopping experience.

AC: summer is fairly mild in Northern Michigan. Like many homes in the region, there is no air conditioning in the unit. That said, we do provide portable/standing fans, and we encourage guests to open the windows to help with air circulation when necessary.

WASHER/DRYER: due to septic tank limitation, only a single load is allowed per stay

* The retreat is in a quiet and secluded community area, so no parties, no events, nor loud noises (Quiet Hours: 11 pm to 9 am).

* The property is located in a wooded area, so you may see and hear bugs, furry critters of all sizes (including but not limited to deer, squirrels, and rodents), and reptiles. Our property has regularly scheduled pest control, however, we cannot guarantee that any such critters will not be visible in and around the property. Please try to keep the doors closed, do not leave food outside to prevent entry of unwanted critters. Also do not feed any wildlife as they are wild animals. No refunds will be provided if a local critter visits the property.

We have a seasonal inground pool in the subdivision as well as a boat launch to access the lake (smaller boats or pontoons). The lake has a sand bar with multiple islands, a very unique place.

Awesome area with tons of stuff to do within the subdivision. Fishing, walking, ATV trails inside the sub or ride from the house to main trails

Lots of room for parking in the driveway and the grass to the west of the driveway. Golf carts, SXS, dirt bikes, four wheelers must obey 25mph in the Subdivision on the roads.

2 Kayaks on site to use. Lots of outdoor games and indoor games to use. Community pool, parks, and multiple inland lakes. No access to the garage or basement, and a few locked closets. Pool, Private Dock, patio set, and outdoor games are seasonal (generally open Memorial Day to Labor Day).

The "Sunshine Cabin" enjoys ample natural sun year around from its lofty position up in the trees. The large picture window overlooking Big Lake provides a birds eye view (partial view) of both the canopy and lake.
This 81’ deep lake has an island and home to many types of fish that's why we brought fishing/recreational kayaks for our guests. The boat launch access is just 1.6 miles from the sunshine cabin. The cabin is secluded on 1.45 acres of trees.
The place has 18 stairs to the 2nd floor.

OUTSIDE YARD: We offer a spacious deck with Private outdoor Hot Tub which is usable all year 'round with patio dining set including Propane BBQ grill with two tanks. Amenities provided with this cabin and in this area are over the top.

Snowmobile DNR trail # 4 accessible from the cabin by sled, no need to trailer sleds to trailhead! Plenty of trailer parking, please ask!
Although our property is professionally plowed, we do STRONGLY recommend that you have a 4 wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle to access this property in winter months.

SKI CROSS COUNTRY AND SNOWSHOE: In Gaylord you'll find the gently sloping terrain, heavily wooded forests and deep annual snowfall ideal for Nordic skiing. It is also not uncommon to see plentiful wildlife out on the trail. Ski Hills nearby for the Winter Enthusiasts! All kinds of Cross-Country Ski Trails nearby.

1-2 dogs are welcome but must be approved prior to booking this rental. Pet fees apply and are posted in the House Rules Section.

Late checkout for 1:00, $50 if available and must be set up in advance

Hot tub water is changed out between guests so may not be hot until early evening. Water comes out of tap at 50 degrees and hot tubs heat up 6-10 degrees an hour with hot tub cover on.

Air Conditioner units available May-Mid October only-warm months only. We have 2 Air Conditioning units, one in living room window and one in master bedroom window. We also have fans and ceiling fan in living room

There are 2 pools which you can use:

1st pool usable all year 'round:
Lakes of the North Clubhouse/Indoor pool usage which also has a HOT TUB & LAZY RIVER needs to be set up in advance (Please ask!) and you can go any time during your stay. Please ask! There is a small fee required to access the Clubhouse amenities that is paid on-site to the community and the fee structure is posted in our pictures gallery. The Clubhouse pool is typically open every day except Tuesdays though hours may vary and are subject to change at short notice.

2nd pool: Outdoor association pool which is walking distance from cabin is free and usable from Memorial Weekend to Labor Weekend.

Bring your own Beach Towels for either pool. Towels at the cabin stay at the cabin.

We are intentionally located in nature. While we work extremely hard to ensure nature stays outside, please be prepared for the possibility of nature sneaking inside on occasion especially if doors are propped open. If this should happen during your stay, simply contact us immediately and we will come up with a remedy if it hasn't already been in place. We don’t refund for bugs and critters. Please help us out and do not leave doors propped open as damage could occur if windy as well.

In the summer guests will have access to shared kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, water trampoline, swim platform, and bonfire pit. In the winter, guests can access Trail 7, directly across the road, for snow mobile season. It's the perfect place for your northern Michigan getaway!

Cottage 5 is apart of Heart Lake Resort. Heart Lake Resort is a lake resort with six other small cottages and one lake home on the property. The grounds are shared with the other cottages/lake home. This includes the bonfire pit, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and beach access. Firewood is provided at the shared bonfire pit.

The hosts live in the walkout basement of The Big House with separate access to their space. The hosts ask that guests be mindful of their noise level. No parties allowed.

Nestled in Gaylord's Michaywe resort , our Chalet is the perfect retreat for guests seeking a fantastic vacation experience. With 4 bedrooms, including 3 queen, 1 full and 1 bunk bed, there's plenty of space for everyone to unwind. The Living room has a gas fireplace, the Kitchen has been completely redone, is well stocked w/ a coffee bar. The "Lodge" Family room with tongue & groove paneling to give a true "up north' experience. Outside you find a cedar deck with gas grill and firepit.

The Lodge is a four bedroom chalet style cabin with up north ambience. Three bedroom have queen beds in them and the fourth has a full and two twin beds. We have three updated full bathrooms. Two with tub shower combo and one with shower. It has a brand new fully stocked kitchen with a coffee bar, crockpot, griddle, and air fryer. We have a ice maker and microwave.
The Lodge also offers outside living with a deck and gas grill. You can also have a camp fire at the fire pit. We always leave enough goodies to make s'mores.

Extra parking for cars and trailers is available in the lot off Channel Rd. Take a left out of the association onto Corey Cove and then a quick right onto the dirt road marked Channel Rd. The lot is on the right with two entrances. Please DO NOT park in roped off area, that is the septic field.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire cottage, shared waterfront and (1) boat slip.

Other things to note
Boat Launch at the end of Bluewater Rd, just passed Corey Cove. Best for smaller boats & watercrafts. Recommended larger boats use Public Access launch or State Park launch.

Please adhere by quiet time hours and be mindful of the neighbors during your stay.

Please only flush toilet paper and bodily waste down toilet. We are on a septic system. There is a sign posted by toilet.

Please do your best to help keep the cabin clean and remove shoes while inside the cottage.

Rental Rules:
1. Each cabin has 2 assigned parking spots. Trailers of any kind and additional cars must park in the overflow lot. (Take a left out of the association onto Corey Cove and then a quick right onto the dirt road marked Channel. Overflow is on the right with two entrances.)
2. Renters may have up to 6 guests between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Additional overnight guests may not exceed the maximum capacity for the unit.
3. Fireworks of any kind are prohibited on the property.
4. The use of weapons or firearms is banned on the property; however, storage and transportation of items are per Michigan Firearms Regulations.
5. All rental cabins are non-smoking. Law enforcement will be notified of the use of illegal drugs.
6. Rental cabins are pet-free, including visiting pets.
7. Cooking grease must be disposed of in the container provided by the owner and located next to the stove/sink.
8. Outdoor cooking is allowed if the owner has provided a grill. The use of personal equipment is prohibited.
9. All trash is to be placed in the blue dumpsters located at the entrance of the resort.


Beach Rules:
1. Fires are only allowed using the shared fire pits on the beach.
2. Chairs located on the beach are for resort guests. Recommended you bring your own.
3. Plastic cups or cans are allowed on the beach – no glass for safety purposes.
4. Please remove all personal items, including beach toys, when leaving the beach area.
5. Diving or jumping from the dock is prohibited for safety reasons. Please walk when using the docks; running is not allowed.
6. Beach access and area are to the left of the main dock only. To protect against erosion, use of the beach in front of the two outlying cabins (9 and 4) is restricted to cabin owners only.
7. Renters assume liability for swimming and use of the docks.
8. Cleaning and disposing of fish waste is prohibited on the property.
9. If a boat slip is available for your cabin rental, only one boat or jet ski is allowed per slip.
10. Swim platform is private and for Cabin 8 use only.

Gaylord, Michigan offers something for everyone, with activities like swimming, boating, golfing in summer, and skiing and snowmobiling in winter. Boyne Mountain is just 30 minutes away, while Traverse City, Mackinaw Island, and Petoskey are all within an hour's drive!

The space
Experience the coziest cottage equipped with modern amenities, including brand new appliances, a fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, outdoor patio, grill, and firepit. With two bedrooms on the main floor and two bedrooms in the walk-out basement, each featuring a queen bed, there's ample space for up to 8 guests. Wake up to the serene beauty of a forest view while enjoying a hot coffee on the patio. Parking is available for up to 4 vehicles, with additional space in front of the 3-car garage for your boat and trailer. Linens are provided, and you'll have access to the washer and dryer. Please note that the main entrance is through the walk-out basement, and the main level of the home is accessed via stairs.

Notably, a new central A/C unit was installed in the spring of 2023.

Lake Arrowhead, a private all-sports lake, awaits you. Enjoy its crystal-clear waters, with a boat launch and a nearby swimming area featuring a raft. Additionally, there's a park with a heated pool (open Memorial Day to Labor Day), a pavilion with a fireplace, and a basketball/pickle ball court. Feel free to bring your fishing gear, jet skis, and small boats for endless enjoyment.

Guest access
Front door has a keypad lock. Code will be given before check-in. Early check-ins and late checkouts may be available upon request.

Other things to note
Wi-Fi and Cell Signal:
While the neighborhood boasts a poor cell signal, providing a true getaway experience, Wi-Fi is available in the cottage and supports Wi-Fi calling. Additionally, free guest Wi-Fi is provided at the pool and lake area.

Firepit:
Unwind in the backyard around the firepit, where 8 chairs will be provided.

Security:
For enhanced safety when the home is unoccupied, a Ring doorbell camera is installed outside.

Things to Do:
1. With over 25 golf courses nearby, golf enthusiasts will have plenty of options to choose from.
2. Ski hills such as Tree Tops, Boyne Mountain, Ostego Club, and Shanty Creek are all within a 30-minute drive.
3. Snowmobile DNR trails are just 10 minutes away from the cabin, and snowmobile parking is available in the garage upon request.
4. Take the opportunity to view majestic elk in the area.
5. Downtown Gaylord, located approximately 6 miles from the cabin, offers convenient access to any essentials you may need.
6. Enjoy some indoor entertainment with a dart board and a badminton net provided. In case of a rainy day, you'll also find a few board games in the pantry.
