The private balcony overlooking the lake was a nice amenity as was the hot tub which was clean and well maintained. Easy walk to a nice hiking trail, shop for necessities and bar/restaurant. It is a SHARED house, split into 4. You very much notice the other people staying. We did have 2 big issues, that did get a tiny bit of attention but did not get resolved. The first night we were there, it was 80 degrees in the house (in winter), and the thermostat was set at 60. We could not control the heat at all and ended up sleeping with windows open. Property management said they were sending someone out, not sure if that happened as we were gone for several hours in the morning. When we got back though, the heat was just not working at all. We never got it to turn back on the whole time. Luckily, there was a gas fireplace that we turned on that heated that area of the house. We had booked this place because my kids really wanted a hot tub. The hot tub is on the other side of the property and was shared - would have been nice to know that. We did not know that the hot tub had some issues, and was out of commission entirely. Management apologized, but really we would not have stayed here had I known that. They did offer a partial refund, but as soon as we checked out the communication stopped and I have not heard from them now, 2 days later."

The cabin can sleep four comfortably. The one bedroom accommodates two with the full bed. Also full size futon, and twin sleeper sofa. The loft is spacious, and can be staged for our guests with one king mattress or two twin mattresses. A total of up to four guests are welcome. Shadowland River Lodge is located approx. 12 miles South East of downtown Traverse City. It is nestled on 33 acres of private land with 650 feet of frontage along the Boardman River. The original log home structure was built in 1929 and in later years added on to including a kitchen, dining area, full bathroom, walk-in closet, utility room, and a riverside main bedroom.

Shadowland River Lodge currently sleeps up to 6 guests with a queen bed in the one “ conventional “ bedroom with direct river views. (red bedspread) A set of “twin” size bunk beds are in the main room (red checkered) of the cabin structure along with a “double” size futon. (Cream w/ multi-color stripes)

Our 11 yo son caught both a small catfish and pike off the dock, which were firsts for him, so he was elated. The area was quiet and peaceful, and the owners were communicating and attentive.
