The Old Fashioned Suite is a quaint cottage on the shores of Lake Michigan. The main room is an old log cabin. We remodeled this comfortable space into the main living area with a wood-burning fireplace, bathroom, and laundry accommodations.
Added to the front of the cabin are a new kitchen, counter for cooking/eating, and dining area. Above the living area is a roomy loft with bunk beds. Facing the lake, at the back of the cabin, is a bright and sunny sitting room with a pull-out sofa and a master bedroom with a queen-size bed.
A spacious deck faces the lake and provides a porch swing and umbrella-topped table and chairs for open-air dining. Adirondack chairs surround a large fire pit near the shoreline. Sunrises and moon showers can often be seen.
It is fun to see the large ships and sailboats as you enjoy the sight and sounds of the waves. The nearby ship canal and the Land Trust have many hiking trails and there are several sandy beaches that are accessible by foot, bike, or car. The property is located in a secluded setting far off the main road making it a wonderful quiet escape to enjoy campfires, swimming, and outside activities.
- "The house location was great we have bomb fires almost every night. The breeze coming from the lake was very nice and cool. The house could use a deep clean and the back screen did not stay on the door so we could leave the door opened. We would stay there again everything was nice. The loft bedroom could use a different type of bed. The cute baby bed was only good for our luggage, A twin or even a full bed would be better." - "Great set up & use of space. Loved the spiral staircase to loft. Comfortable beds. Enjoyed the games on hand. Could hear the waves lapping the shore. Sunrises we’re beautiful. Took several trips to lighthouses & canal up the way."

- "Home was right on the lake. Interior was well-appointed and well-equipped. We are cyclists and the lightly traveled road was a nice place to start a ride. The owner was very helpful with suggestions about where to go and where to eat." - "We had a wonderful week at Killasonna Lodge! The home is just beautifully constructed and the layout is perfect for our 3 generation family, giving my mom her own space on the main level. The kitchen is the best stocked of any rental we’ve ever stayed at, from utensils to spices and condiments! The fire pit by the water is fabulous as well, although the view from the porch is also excellent. We love the location, our family prefers the quiet side and proximity to Cave Point. We were a little surprised to find no television, but ended up not missing it at all! The cabin was very clean and the owners are easy to reach and give a lot of information and helpful hints about the area."

The cottage doesn't look like much from the OUTSIDE. Please take a close look at the pictures on the inside. My mother and father built this Log Cabin in 1950 on the 'Quiet Side' of Door County near the borderline of the Whitefish Dunes State Park. As you look out the windows you will see beautiful Lake Michigan along with white birch trees, an assortment of evergreen trees, the sand dunes. The beautiful Sand Beach begins at your door. The sand on the beach is so clean that it 'squeaks' when you walk on it. You will absolutely love our beach! Relax and build sandcastles with your kids. The water is very clean and the drop off is very gradual - ideal for kids of any age.
The furniture in the log cabin has been updated and is very comfortable. The bathroom is very small BUT there is a "dressing room" adjacent with plenty of counter space and an additional sink and mirror. In September 2018 all the mattresses were replaced with new ones.

- "This little rustic cabin takes you back to a simpler time. It is well appointed with everything you need for a relaxing stay on the beach. My husband and I took our two dogs with us for a last-minute early fall long weekend in Door County. This cabin was perfect! The weather was unseasonably warm and sunny so we were able to say one last goodbye to summer on the beach. Fred is very responsive and friendly. He checked in on us via email a couple of times to be sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again. "

Stop scrolling, you have found THE one. Often described as one of Door County’s best-kept secrets, this charming cabin sits on a private peninsula which means 360-degree views of the water, privacy, and an East AND West facing dock so you can enjoy a cocktail at sunset and coffee with the sunrise.
Located on a rare Door County inland lake, offering that “getting away from it all” up north feeling while being just 15-30 minutes from towns like Bailey’s Harbor, Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, and Sister Bay. Enjoy your own oasis while being close to the restaurants and shops of the famous (and busier aka more crowded) Door County towns.
As you approach the cabin, you’ll drive until the road ends because we’re the last stop. Enter the gate and you’ll find a completely private oasis and entire peninsula to enjoy your time away and notice water views no matter which direction you look. It’s truly something you have to experience to appreciate how special this place is. Along the circular driveway sits 3 separate structures: the cabin, the garage with 2nd story loft, and the “doghouse” which is what we call our clubhouse for kids.
As you enter the cabin you’ll notice a newly renovated bathroom to your left with a new washer and dryer to use during your stay. Next, the kitchen has all new appliances as well and has everything you’d ever want or need to cook and host your group while at the cabin. Notice that water view out the kitchen window before continuing on to the living room with vaulted ceilings, wood beams, a pullout couch should you need an additional sleeping area, and a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace that is the star of the show... Water views to your left and right make you feel like you’re directly on the water.
Continuing on to the first-floor master bedroom with a queen bed and ensuite bathroom - this room was thoughtfully designed by the previous owner who was a sailor and his love of boats inspired the use of space here. Steps from the water, you’ll again see nothing but lake out the windows and notice two hammock tree swings hangout out over the water from the tree and make a note to enjoy a book or cocktail at sunset in that spot later.
Up the stairs, you’ll find a third newly renovated bathroom with concrete vanity, white tiled shower, and stone floor (and of course, another water view out the window)! Two more bedrooms finish out the 2nd floor each with king beds, smart TVs, and you guessed it - yet another water view for each. The east-facing bedroom also has a twin pullout bed for kids and there is a pack-n-play should you need it during your stay as well.
Moving back outdoors, the expansive deck stretches across the waterfront offering a few spots to hang out and enjoy the view including a gazebo, outdoor fireplace, and concrete patio. Kayaks, canoes, and the option to rent a pontoon offers a variety of ways to enjoy the water!
Onto the next structure, “The loft”, is a 2nd-floor area great for hosting privacy for one of the families in your group with a queen bed, 3-level twin bunk bed, dining/game table, couch, coffee maker, frig, and microwave.
The final structure, our kid's favorite - “The Doghouse” is a cute clubhouse for kids offering its own lakeside deck, two twin beds, a couch, tv, and chairs, and a sound system to communicate back to the main cabin. Books, games, and a lake view make this sweet spot another private oasis to enjoy during your stay.
Saving the best for last is the entertainment area in the middle of the peninsula offering a 15 ft farm table under twinkly lights for dinners al fresco and game nights and s’mores by the firepit.
Head down your own hiking trail to the tip of the peninsula and you’ll find a large wooden swing that fits 8 people, a special family heirloom of where the owners got engaged, and the perfect spot to take in the views of the lake, surrounded by water and nature. Sometimes, we won’t see our kids for hours because they’re off exploring the peninsula, building forts, or fishing.
Did we mention we’re dog friendly? We wouldn’t leave our buddy home from a trip to the lake and don’t expect you to either. $150/dog - just let us know you’ll be bringing your pets with you so we can add the fee to your booking.
Our cabin is less than 2 miles from famous local attractions like Cave Point, Whitefish Dunes State Park, and Lake Michigan, you’ll be able to enjoy all that inland lake life has to offer (swimming, boating, and fishing) while being steps away from some of the most popular spots with visitors.
With a stay at Door County Cabin Collective, you’ll discover you’ve found your home away from home, and speaking from experience, you’ll be planning your next trip to the cabin before the first one is even over. Jeremy and Caitlyn Jeffery
Door County Cabin Collective
- "My husband, son (4.5 years old), and I had a wonderful vacation at The Point. We loved having a dock for morning coffee and a dock for a sunset campfire (in the solo stove). It really does feel like you are in a boat when you sit in the living room, due to the water views on each side. The water is crystal clear - we loved to watch the fish and other lake life. The beds were comfortable. Two of the bedrooms in the main cabin face (and are very, very close to) the lake, so one can open the windows to hear the lake at night, if one would like. It can probably be heard from the other bedrooms as well, but I didn't try those out. The property was clean and well maintained. Jeremy was pleasant and great with communication. He responded to texts so quickly that I briefly suspected chatbot (which I happen to have been dealing with frequently as of late), but he is a real person with the ability to text at superhuman speed. We hope to return to The Point and also to visit the other DC Cabin Collective cabins. It was almost, but not quite, warm enough to swim during our visit, so we plan to aim for a slightly warmer time of year for our next visit to The Point. There is one thing to note if someone in your group can't easily bathe in an overhead shower: there is neither a bathtub nor (I am pretty sure) a shower wand, so plan accordingly. I was so dazzled by the property that I didn't key into this until it was time to bathe our 4.5 YO. This wouldn't have had any impact on our decision to vacation at The Point, but I probably would have pulled the baby tub out of storage and brought it along had I noticed this earlier. Just mentioning it here in hopes of helping others who can't easily bathe in an overhead shower. I'm sure that if I had asked Jeremy for help he would have made a tub appear or worked some other magic, but we just powered through with the overhead shower and cut our son's bathing schedule from 1x/day to 1x/week - it is vacation, after all. Also note that it is very possible that one of the shower heads was convertible into a shower wand and I was just too mechanically inept to figure it out. Anyway, do not hesitate to book The Point through the Door County Cabin Collective website (or another website of your choice, although I ran the numbers for all options and determined that, as one would expect, the Door County Cabin Collective website provides the best pricing)."

- "The pictures don’t do this place justice. So peaceful and quiet. The house is much bigger than I thought and they thought of everything!! I felt safe and secure in this house and there were so many things for my kids to do! We probably could’ve spent our entire stay at the house if we wanted. Worth every penny!!" - "This was our first experience with any kind of short term home rental and we’ll never go back (to hotels) again. This place had absolutely everything we needed. It’s even more gorgeous in person than it is online. We pulled up and there were turkeys on the driveway and a deer in the yard and then we saw the view of Lake Michigan. It truly felt like a getaway. After long days adventuring and exploring Door County, we loved coming back to this place and just relaxing. It was very affordable and now we know it’s probably due to being a bit further away from all of Door County’s attractions. We had never been to Door County before. We didn’t mind the drive though. Overall, a great stay!"

It is located on a quiet street, but is just a couple minute drive from downtown Sturgeon Bay. The private beach is very spacious with a nice fire pit area. On the Fourth of July, we were able to clearly see the Sturgeon Bay fireworks from the private beach. The owner was very friendly and always responded promptly. He provided a number of great recommendations for restaurants and sites to see. If you are a fan of prime rib, I strongly recommend going to the Nightingale Inn in Sturgeon Bay.In short, the next time we vacation in Door County, we will look to stay here again."

As the hosts and managers of this home through our company, DoCo Vacations, we take a unique approach to hosting. Our goal is to maintain professional standards while still providing a personal touch. We pride ourselves on delivering a clean and fully furnished rental property and making sure our guests have all the necessary supplies. The cozy linens we provide are professionally laundered by our staff.
We have a small team that helps us take care of all the details at our properties, but we are not a large rental management company that has lost the personal connection with our guests. We strive to provide the best of both worlds: professional service with a personal touch.
Relax with the with our log home in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. It is within walking distance of two beautiful public beaches and two lighthouses. The cabin is surrounded by six and a half acres of quiet solitude and abundant wildlife. This place is just what you need to unwind from your busy life. The stars on a clear night are amazing. The sound of the waves from Lake Michigan (two blocks away) is soothing. And we're pet friendly!
Guest access

Other things to note
The cabin is cleaned by a professional cleaning service prior to each guest stay. You can expect that the floors are swept/mopped/vacuumed, bathrooms cleaned with a minimum of 3 extra rolls of toilet paper, linens are cleaned and beds made, kitchen sink/counters/tables are cleaned, items within arms reach are dusted, fireplace should be swept, and garbage cans should be emptied.
Things that are not routinely cleaned prior to each guest stay include things like ceiling fan blades, ceiling vents, ice cube trays, brita water container (which is meant for use with the coffee maker), as well as items that are more than 6 feet above the wall such as taxidermy. These things are cleaned, but not between each guest stay. Expect that you may see a speck of dust somewhere.
Please note: Bugs exist in the world and can make their way in from time to time. Critters exist in the world and things like mice can make their way in from time to time. We set traps and spray for bugs, but it's not perfect and we do not guarantee the cabin is a fortress against nature. If the possibility of seeing bugs and critters bother you, Sunrise Shores may not be for you. :)
This is a rustic cabin. It's not perfect. And it's not a 5-star resort. We price the cabin lower than other similar rentals in the area, in part because we are aware that the cabin is not a 5-star resort. If you are looking for 5-star accommodations, Sunrise Shores may not be to your level of satisfaction.

Enjoy your own oasis while being close to the restaurants and shops of the famous (and busier aka more crowded) Door County towns.
As you enter the cabin into the sunroom you’ll immediately know you picked a winner when you gaze upon your first glimpse of Clark Lake. Known for its shallow warm waters, sandy bottom, excellent fishing, watersports, and epic sunsets - you could decide to not even leave the cabin and not run out of things to do. Included with your stay are kayaks, canoes and a paddleboat! Did we mention our cabins are dog-friendly? We wouldn’t leave our buddy home from a trip to the lake, and don’t expect you to, either.
Back inside the cabin, you’ll notice the sunroom offers a cozy seating area, edison record player, large farm table, and all the nostalgic family games to pick from - so you’ll already be looking forward to nights spent here, making memories.
Next, you’ll enter the open-concept kitchen and living room area, sun drenched with natural light from the two-story windows looking out onto the lake. A fully stocked kitchen means you’ll enjoy preparing meals at the cabin with everything you need (and more). You’ll find yet another cozy seating area for that morning coffee or nightcap by the pellet stove fireplace which means you’ll not be short on places to relax and unwind in the cabin.
Moving upstairs you’ll enjoy a private master suite with a king bed, en suite bathroom, and balcony. Outside the master is an open lofted space perfect for movie night with a smart tv, game table, more games and the best 2nd story view of the entire lake. Need somewhere to send the kids after a long day of exploring or enjoying the lake? This is it.
Back to the first floor towards the back of the cabin, you’ll find two more bedrooms one with full over full bunks and another with a queen bed and another smart tv. A 2nd newly renovated bathroom rounds out the first floor of the cabin.
Need more sleeping areas? No problem, both the sunroom and the loft offer pullout couches giving you flexibility to find the perfect sleeping arrangements for your group.
Last, but certainly not least is the intentionally designed outdoor entertainment areas. An expansive deck with seating areas, a grill and another large farm table for your dinners al fresco means you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors! Twinkly lights strung throughout the trees over a firepit and adirondeck chairs for s’mores, storytelling and the perfect spot to take in a sunset.
Located less than 2 miles from famous local attractions like Cave Point, Whitefish Dunes State Park, and Lake Michigan, you’ll be able to enjoy all that inland lake life has to offer (swimming, boating, and fishing) while being steps away from some of the most popular spots with visitors.

Our area is residential and as a result, we encourage “quiet hours” after 10pm to be respectful of those that may be sleeping with windows open. So please be cognizant of that if you are out having a bonfire, etc... if there are no waves sound can really travel!
Upon Checkout, please ensure the house is picked up and any dishes you may have used are cleaned and put away. Any wet towels should be hung up and any dry used towels can be placed on the washer.
Please leave beds "as-is". No need to strip sheets!
And please take any garbage/recycling out and place it in the containers by the garage. If you check out on a Sunday or Monday, we would appreciate if you could place the cans out at the curb for Tuesday morning pickup :)

This charming cabin in the middle of Door County blends a modern addition with the original log cabin. Great location! Nestled in the quiet town of Jacksonport and a quick 15-20 min. drive to Egg Harbor, Baileys Harbor, Fish Creek, Ephraim, Sister Bay, Cave Point County Park and state parks! It’s also a short walk or bike ride to picturesque Lake Michigan right down the road. Jacksonport offers a small town grocery store, restaurants and public beach and park.
Please no pets at anytime!
The space
This cozy cabin with fireplace sleeps a maximum of 6 guests, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. Two king beds, one queen. Best suited for 4-adults with 1-2 children.
The main floor has a king bedroom with en suite bath and a queen bedroom with a half bath nearby. Upstairs has another king bedroom, very private with a full bath right outside the bedroom door. There is a single bed in an open loft area, not in a private bedroom so I am not counting this as a 4th bedroom. The main floor has a separate cozy family room with a TV and fireplace. There is also an open concept living room connected to the kitchen area. The kitchen has a separate stove top, built in oven, Bosch dishwasher, full size refrigerator, microwave, Keurig and drip coffee pots, pantry, and everything you could possibly want in a kitchen!
I have a maximum of 6 guests, staying or visiting at all times! Please no pets and I do have cameras on the exterior doors to check that the number of guests you register for is accurate, you will be asked to leave if there are more than 6 guests, including children, no parties or family gatherings are allowed! Honestly it’s not a large cabin and is best suited for two couples so each have a private bedroom with a king bed and each then have their own bathroom. The 3rd bedroom with a queen bed only has a half bath near by. This is a good space for a child or an extra adult. Also, there is no living area in the basement, the basement is for useful supplies like everything you need to build a nice fire in the fire pit.
The cabin is on 4 wooded acres with a picturesque barn in the back. There are hiking trails by creeks and woods right out your door. Recently renovated, this cabin has over 1700 square. ft., WIFI, 3 TV’s, one 65 in. and all the modern conveniences to make your stay super comfortable!
There is a screened in porch to relax and enjoy the outside bug free! The cabin is in the middle of the county, just a 15-20 minute drive to all the villages and to either end of the Door Peninsula. Lake Michigan shore is just down the block, 10 minute walk! There are 4 older bikes to use to just ride to the beach in town, if you want to bike for miles in the state parks you’re better off bringing your own bikes or renting bikes in Peninsula State Park!
Guest access
Guests will be given keys and a door code upon arrival. Doors will be unlocked for your arrival, leave them unlocked when you depart cabin, thanks.
Other things to note
The views out of all the windows are spectacular! Woods all around, old barn out back, a horse farm across the street and a church next door! This is such a relaxing peaceful place! There is a charming loft area with a twin bed, wonderful spot for a single adult or child but not being counted as a 4th bedroom.
2 night minimum during the off season. Peak season, mid June through mid August is a 4 night minimum. Holiday weekends and shoulder season right before and after peak season are only a 3 night minimum.
Note: Erika Skogg is the host of 2 homes in Door County, her own larger family home in Sturgeon Bay where she lives with her husband and 2 children is set up beautifully for larger families. She is also the host of my smaller log cabin where just I live, Christie, her mom.

Escape to your lakeside retreat where memories are made. Enjoy 360-degree water views of Clark Lake from every window w/ an East & West facing dock for sunrises and sunsets. Step inside to renovated interiors and cozy up by the fireplace or gather around the firepit & outdoor fireplace. 6 separate sleeping quarters including a mini cabin for kids offer privacy for all. Sleeps up to 12, dog-friendly, kayaks, canoes, & pontoon rental. Hurry, this popular cabin books a year in advance!
The space
Stop scrolling, you have found THE one. Often described as one of Door County’s best-kept secrets, this charming cabin sits on a private peninsula which means 360-degree views of the water, privacy, and an East AND West facing dock so you can enjoy a cocktail at sunset and coffee with the sunrise.
Located on a rare Door County inland lake, offering that “getting away from it all” up north feeling while still being close to towns like Bailey’s Harbor, Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, and Sister Bay.
Along the circular driveway sits 3 separate structures: the cabin, the garage with 2nd story loft sleeping area, and the “doghouse” which is what we call our mini sleeping cabin for kids.
As you enter the cabin you’ll notice a newly renovated bathroom to your left with a new washer and dryer to use during your stay. Next, the kitchen has all new appliances as well and has everything you’d ever want or need to cook and host your group while at the cabin. Notice that water view out the kitchen window before continuing on to the living room with vaulted ceilings, wood beams, a pullout couch should you need an additional sleeping options, and a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace that is the star of the show...
Up the stairs, you’ll find a third newly renovated bathroom with a stunning concrete vanity, white tiled shower, and stone floor (and of course, another water view out the window)!
Onto the next structure, “The loft”, is a 2nd-floor area great for hosting privacy for one of the families in your group with a queen bed, 3-level twin bunk beds, dining/game table, couch, coffee maker, mini frig, and microwave.
Head down your own private hiking trail to the tip of the peninsula and you’ll find a large wooden swing that fits 8 people, a special family heirloom of where the owners got engaged, and the perfect spot to take in the views of the lake, surrounded by water and nature. Sometimes, we won’t see our kids for hours because they’re off exploring the peninsula, building forts, or fishing.
Did we mention we’re dog-friendly?
You have access to the nearly 5000 square feet of this home, which includes 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, and a 4-car garage, of which at least 2 spaces are available for guest use. To further showcase the custom nature and environmental sensibility of the home, the floors on the main level and on the upstairs bridge are made from reclaimed barnwood. The drinking water is crystal clean and pure (as ours has been certified) from a depth of more than 800 feet within the Niagara Escarpment; unlike the municipal water requiring purification that you'll usually find elsewhere.
The Lodge is comfortably appointed for your family, close friends or small office getaway. Unlike most other Door Peninsula lodging, Norske-Haagen is intended as a spacious, yet cozy Northwoods respite for gatherings; where family, friends or executives can intermingle or retreat to separate areas for downtime. NO NEED TO FALL OVER EACH OTHER OR CRAM INTO BUNK BEDS. These problems do not exist here. Four of the large bedrooms have King beds; one massive bedroom has a Queen bed and two singles, perfect for young families, or for teens to hang out. The vast basement and recreation area is also a favorite destination for all. Whether playing video or board games, air hockey or darts, kids will be entertained for hours. Meanwhile, moms and dads, aunts, uncles and grandparents, are afforded the opportunity to engage in lively conversations, and sip wine or cocktails while taking in the lake views, in the dining area, at the two bars, on either of the two covered decks, in the wooded firepit area, or through the 35 vertical feet of windows by a crackling fireplace, in the great room overlooking the bay. Norske-Haagen is reserved for those who desire a more refined and elegant Northwoods experience, without all of the intrusions of the tourist areas.
After a full day of touring vineyards/wineries, strolling small towns loaded with shopping and restaurants, golfing, or casting a line in one of the Midwest's most prolific fishing bays, your fortress will await your retreat to comfort and luxury. Or simply enjoy your entire respite at the lodge, whether quiet relaxation or family activities are your goal, as the amenities offer numerous alternatives during your stay to reconnect with those dear to you.
Guest access
The Lodge is located on a quiet street, just prior to the cul-de-sac. There is parking for at least two guest vehicles in the four-car garage, as well as ample parking space on the driveway for additional vehicles. Please be respectful of neighbors at all times.
The property is just 20+ minutes from Sturgeon Bay, with shopping, restaurants and other activities. It is also a quick 30+ minutes from Green Bay and is therefore an excellent premium choice lodging destination for your Green Bay Packer Weekends, for fans, media, or player families!
Due to the record high lake levels in 2020, the majority of nearby lakefront properties, including ours, have removed the direct access stairways to avoid excessive damage. As lake levels begin to recede, we have begun the necessary re-engineering plans to return the stairs to the bluff. Please be aware that this may not be in place for the 2025 season. However, there is lake access a brief walk away via a short access road that you can use to reach the rocky beach, water or ice in the winter. There are better boat launch areas nearby that provide easier boat access.
Since our stairs are heavy duty stainless steel and composite, they require far more engineering than those with lighter weight wood or aluminum. We are still in the process of engineering the supports and cliff-anchoring system, which will be followed by coordinating barge and/or land cranes. While the waters have receded enough and sustained at levels more near the long-term average, engineering and current costs to expedite continue to be an obstacle.
Other things to note
The property is located on Gardner Bluff, which is a limestone and other bedrock cliff of the Niagara Escarpment that yes, arches all the way to Niagara Falls in Ontario and New York state. As such, the property sits on a bluff of approximately 45-50 feet. While this provides SPECTACULAR lake views, it can obviously be dangerous. Please supervise the younger members of your party closely if they are below the maturity level that the perils of the cliff demand. This also goes for your inebriated friends. While we have installed see-through fencing as a partial safety measure, this is only an impediment to anyone motivated to go beyond it. In addition, please be aware that the neighboring properties have no fencing at all. Please keep this in mind when choosing to book a stay at our lodge.
