The 'Northern Exposure' lodge is a unique log cabin with logs hand scribed and shipped from British Columbia. White pine finishes off the interior of the cabin with yellow pine rustic furniture.
The loft has a sitting area to view the beautiful outdoors of the Upper Peninsula. The kitchen comes fully equipped with a sitting bar that is centered to enjoy the living room fireplace and picture windows.
The deck has a BBQ grill and sitting area with fire pit for those beautiful summer and fall day's to enjoy. There is also a fire pit that sits directly in front of the cabin.
The cabin is located in the heart of the Upper Peninsula's #1 summer recreational area. With Autrain River and Lake just walking distance from the cabin. Lake Superior is less then one mile down the road. There are numerous hiking trails in the area.

It was a bit dark in the shower, there were lights in there but maybe the batteries were dead? The only other suggestion we would have is maybe a crockpot. It was chilly at night and crockpot soup sounded great. But literally no real complaints!"

This AuTrain Lake cabin located only 30 minutes from Marquette and minutes from Munising is on the edge of the Hiawatha National Forest offers all seasons of activities. A 12 mile drive you'll be on the doorstep of the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. Our quaint cabin offers both a rustic and modern feel and is just 25 feet from the shore of AuTrain Lake for a breathtaking view. It's also 3.5 miles from the most beautiful beach on Lake Superior where the river empties into the great lakes largest body of water. A short 12 mile drive to Munising, you will be at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. A relaxing scenic 30 mile drive along Superior takes you to Marquette, the largest U.P. city, is full of excitement with it's famous brewpubs, restaurants, historic homes, buildings, and culture, with multiple activities and the most beautiful lake Superior shoreline with it's parks and sandy pristine beaches.

Enjoy the sunrises with coffee inside the cabin, or on the outside decks with wicker furniture, or a beverage by a fire on the water, as the moon rises across the lake. You will love the picturesque lake views of the north, east, and southern skylines. Viewing the Northern Lights is alway possible from our dock that extends 65 feet into the lake. With a water frontage of approximately 100 feet, you may moor your boat on the dock for water fun. If you enjoy nature, the AuTrain Songbird Trail is just a short drive around the lake to AuTrain Campground and features a 2 mile interpretive hiking loop with twenty bird species. The North Country Trail crossing is just south a half mile for hiking adventures close to the cabin.

Let's not forget the areas biggest attraction, canoeing or kayaking down the slow moving and meandering AuTrain River to Lake Superior. This trip takes approximately three to six hours and area rentals are available.

As the Fall colors take center stage when the cool fall air rolls in, guests will enjoy hiking, kayaking, hunting (duck, grouse, deer) and sharing stories by the camp fire.

In winter as the colors give way to the white powdery snow covered ground, guests will enjoy Alger County's Vally Spur, where you can ski, snowshoe, bike, hike and enjoy nature. Snowmobilers are able take advantage of Superior's lake effect snow with it's nationally acclaimed groomed trails accessible right from your front door.

When you're ready to turn in from the days activities, you will find a cozy living area with many amenities. If you're looking to catch up on news or your favorite tv show, a 55 inch smart television provides viewing pleasure for all. The kitchen features a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher.

This cabin has one bedroom in the lower level, with a full size bed and wall mounted Roku 43 inch smart television and gas fire place. The loft features one couch, two full size beds, and two twin beds and a 32 inch smart Roku television. The bathroom has running water, flushable toilet and a full size tub and shower. AuTrain River Cottages are located in a private association that is quiet and beautiful. There is about a 100 yards of river frontage to enjoy and relax next to. Cottages are pet friendly and range from one bedroom to 4 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 8 guests. Each Cottage has all amenities included like WiFi, towels, linens, blankets, pillows and cooking supplies. There is a fire-pit area for guests to enjoy a fire w/a view of the river and wood can be purchased locally. Also included is a gas grill w/propane, and one free standard kayak rental from Da Ya Shak. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. DA Spruce is a bigger one bedroom Log Cabin. The original part of the cabin is nearly 100 years old and was added on to in the 50's. The old logs are still in tact and make for a very authentic feel inside. This place is perfect for a couple, or a small family. The kitchen is fully stocked and has a dining table for 4. There is A/C, WiFi, and a 42" TV with cable. There is a queen in the bedroom and two futons in the living room, with plenty of room to move around. Cabin could easily accommodate 4 adults. New in 2017, a large bathroom was installed with a 36" shower stall and adjoining closet area for guests luggage and gear. 2016 was it's first rental season in 25 years, and since people couldn't have been happier. If you want to step back in time but have modern amenities available, this is your place!

The AuTrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing/kayaking as it winds 12 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful AuTrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore located in Munising is only 15 minutes away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. If you are into fishing, Trout and Salmon are the most commonly fished in Lake Superior.

If you are needing some sort of vet care while you and your pets stay with us we would recommend Bayshore Veterinary Hospital or Marquette Veterinary Clinic both of which are about 30 minutes west of our cabin.

- "We loved our stay here. It was a great location for touring all the area attractions. Close to beautiful Lake Superior which we really enjoyed. We got to use the fire pit and watched a family of Sand Hill Cranes. They did not have wifi which was only mildly inconvenient. We were a family of 6 that comfortably slept us all. The loft bedroom was perfect for our 16yr old grandson. If you plan on spending time outside you may want to take your own yard games for there were none there. Overall we felt safe, comfortable and relaxed. Highly recommend."

Get that camping feeling without the annoyance of bugs and animals creeping in on you. Fish Camp is a small, rustic cabin located right on beautiful Lake Superior in Shelter Bay and is one step up from camping. The lake front has a small rocky cliff, that can be dangerous for small children. Sleeps 4 comfortably, with one queen, one double, and one twin bed. The bedding is provided. Kitchen comes with a small refrigerator, a sink (no hot, running or potable water), and a hot plate to cook with (no stove/oven). Relax on the porch and grill out on the charcoal grill while watching the waves crash against the rocks or get rid of built-up stress by sitting in the sauna. Pets are welcome for an additional fee, but please do NOT leave your pet alone in the cabin. NOTE-There is a compost toilet just outside the cabin.

This cabin is centered between Eben Cave (a beautiful ice cave that takes some hiking to get to) and Valley Spur (great groomed cross-country ski trails) and Pictured Rock (where we went snow-shoeing). This Cabin is nestled on the southeast shore of AuTrain Lake with a shared dock overlooking the lake. It is a short drive to the Beach on Lake Superior and the AuTrain River. This is a great location for spending time on the lake, or as a home base for all of the local attractions this area has to offer. Within 20 minutes you are in Munising where you can do the Pictured Rocks cruise, Shipwreck Tour or Kayak tour and many more.

The cabin is exactly what you would expect if you are looking to stay in an original UP cabin on the lake. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking meals for up to 6 guests. As you walk past, you'll enter the main living area with a TV with WiFi and Roku for streaming. There are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Huron has a view of Lake Superior & is just a 30 second walk from the lake where you have access to free kayaks & canoes. Another lake is located across the street. You can see the sunrise & sunset over two lakes without even driving! We are 30 minutes from Pictured Rocks and Marquette, with the infamous black rocks! We also have charter fishing service on site where you can catch lake trout. This is a great place for sighting eagles, Northern lights, meteor showers, moonrises, & rock hunting.

The space
You have a view of Lake Superior from the cabin, though it is not directly on the water. The property contains 300' of Lake Superior shoreline and you do have lake access.

#5 Doe is a two bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin located just across the street from the sandy beach of AuTrain Lake, within Northwoods Resort.  The first bedroom has a queen bed and 2 queen beds are in the other room. There is a full kitchen, renovated bathroom, cable TV, wireless resort internet, an outiside table, bonfire, and charcoal grill.  Full beach access. The Resort is located just 2 miles in from Lake Superior and 11 miles to the west of Munising and the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.  Marquette is only 30 minutes to the west!  Adventure awaits!

The entire cabin is yours! The beach area, across the street, is shared between the resort guests. There is also a coin-operated washer and dryer.

Our cabin is set on the beautiful AuTrain river, just minutes from Lake Superior. It is fully equipped to make your stay relaxing and fun! A full kitchen which includes a stove, fridge, and a BBQ grill to cook what you would like. There is a queen size bed, and a natural gas fireplace, and full bathroom.

We also have a deck to enjoy the wildlife from. Hummingbirds, Blue Heron, geese, ducks, eagles, river otters and more have all been spotted from the front porch.

The space
This house was built from logs sourced directly from the land it currently sits on. We wanted to build a cozy guest cottage next door to share our little slice of paradise with others! The house is fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay. We also have two kayaks, a canoe, life jackets and fishing poles. Bring a toothbrush and some groceries and get ready for vacation!

We are 15 minutes from Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore and a few blocks away from a beautiful sandy beach!

For winter we have snowmobile trails just a few blocks away. Valley Spur Ski trail is 10 minutes away, Marquette Mountain downhill ski/snow board is about 30 minutes away. Also in Munising, Pictured Rocks has a beautiful ski trail too. There is also a convenience store just down the road. So please book your stay today, we’d love to have ya.

We are between Marquette (25 miles) and Munising (18 miles ) , and 6 miles west of AuTrain's gorgeous Beach and the AuTrain river, where canoeing / kayaking is extremely popular. Our quiet Hiawatha Log Home is clean and neat, with plenty of parking. The view is stunning of Lake Superior and AuTrain Island. Be sure to wake early for the sunrise. This property is not on Lake Superior. A quiet road and a narrow strip of county property separate the land and water. 1 pet permitted, $90 per stay.

The space
True log cabin living in this Hiawatha Log Home overlooking big beautiful Lake Superior. Located on a one mile, low traffic road just off M28. Well kept road conditions all winter long. Enjoy breathtaking sunrises on a covered porch while sipping your morning coffee. There is a grocery store 6 miles east and Deer Lake rest area and swim access are just 1/2 mile west. There is no access to Lake Superior from this property.
