The 'Northern Exposure' lodge is a unique log cabin with logs hand scribed and shipped from British Columbia. White pine finishes off the interior of the cabin with yellow pine rustic furniture.
The loft has a sitting area to view the beautiful outdoors of the Upper Peninsula. The kitchen comes fully equipped with a sitting bar that is centered to enjoy the living room fireplace and picture windows.
The deck has a BBQ grill and sitting area with fire pit for those beautiful summer and fall day's to enjoy. There is also a fire pit that sits directly in front of the cabin.

It was a bit dark in the shower, there were lights in there but maybe the batteries were dead? The only other suggestion we would have is maybe a crockpot. It was chilly at night and crockpot soup sounded great. But literally no real complaints!"

Our quaint cabin offers both a rustic and modern feel and is just 25 feet from the shore of AuTrain Lake for a breathtaking view. It's also 3.5 miles from the most beautiful beach on Lake Superior where the river empties into the great lakes largest body of water. A short 12 mile drive to Munising, you will be at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. A relaxing scenic 30 mile drive along Superior takes you to Marquette, the largest U.P. city, is full of excitement with it's famous brewpubs, restaurants, historic homes, buildings, and culture, with multiple activities and the most beautiful lake Superior shoreline with it's parks and sandy pristine beaches.

If you enjoy nature, the AuTrain Songbird Trail is just a short drive around the lake to AuTrain Campground and features a 2 mile interpretive hiking loop with twenty bird species. The North Country Trail crossing is just south a half mile for hiking adventures close to the cabin.

Let's not forget the areas biggest attraction, canoeing or kayaking down the slow moving and meandering AuTrain River to Lake Superior. This trip takes approximately three to six hours and area rentals are available.

As the Fall colors take center stage when the cool fall air rolls in, guests will enjoy hiking, kayaking, hunting (duck, grouse, deer) and sharing stories by the camp fire.

In winter as the colors give way to the white powdery snow covered ground, guests will enjoy Alger County's Vally Spur, where you can ski, snowshoe, bike, hike and enjoy nature. Snowmobilers are able take advantage of Superior's lake effect snow with it's nationally acclaimed groomed trails accessible right from your front door.

When you're ready to turn in from the days activities, you will find a cozy living area with many amenities. If you're looking to catch up on news or your favorite tv show, a 55 inch smart television provides viewing pleasure for all. The kitchen features a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher.

This cabin has one bedroom in the lower level, with a full size bed and wall mounted Roku 43 inch smart television and gas fire place. The loft features one couch, two full size beds, and two twin beds and a 32 inch smart Roku television. The bathroom has running water, flushable toilet and a full size tub and shower. Cottages are pet friendly and range from one bedroom to 4 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 8 guests. There is a fire-pit area for guests to enjoy a fire w/a view of the river and wood can be purchased locally. Also included is a gas grill w/propane, and one free standard kayak rental from Da Ya Shak. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. DA Spruce is a bigger one bedroom Log Cabin. The original part of the cabin is nearly 100 years old and was added on to in the 50's. The old logs are still in tact and make for a very authentic feel inside. This place is perfect for a couple, or a small family. The kitchen is fully stocked and has a dining table for 4. There is A/C, WiFi, and a 42" TV with cable. There is a queen in the bedroom and two futons in the living room, with plenty of room to move around. Cabin could easily accommodate 4 adults. New in 2017, a large bathroom was installed with a 36" shower stall and adjoining closet area for guests luggage and gear. 2016 was it's first rental season in 25 years, and since people couldn't have been happier. If you want to step back in time but have modern amenities available, this is your place!

The AuTrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing/kayaking as it winds 12 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful AuTrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore located in Munising is only 15 minutes away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. If you are into fishing, Trout and Salmon are the most commonly fished in Lake Superior.

If you are needing to do some laundry while you stay with us the closest one is located in Munising MI it is about 25 minutes away from our cabin.
Mill Street Laundry is a prominent option at 408 Mill St, Munising MI

If you are needing some sort of vet care while you and your pets stay with us we would recommend Bayshore Veterinary Hospital or Marquette Veterinary Clinic both of which are about 30 minutes west of our cabin.

- "We loved our stay here. It was a great location for touring all the area attractions. Close to beautiful Lake Superior which we really enjoyed. We got to use the fire pit and watched a family of Sand Hill Cranes. They did not have wifi which was only mildly inconvenient. We were a family of 6 that comfortably slept us all. The loft bedroom was perfect for our 16yr old grandson. If you plan on spending time outside you may want to take your own yard games for there were none there. Overall we felt safe, comfortable and relaxed. Highly recommend."

Get that camping feeling without the annoyance of bugs and animals creeping in on you. Fish Camp is a small, rustic cabin located right on beautiful Lake Superior in Shelter Bay and is one step up from camping. The lake front has a small rocky cliff, that can be dangerous for small children. Sleeps 4 comfortably, with one queen, one double, and one twin bed. The bedding is provided. Kitchen comes with a small refrigerator, a sink (no hot, running or potable water), and a hot plate to cook with (no stove/oven). Relax on the porch and grill out on the charcoal grill while watching the waves crash against the rocks or get rid of built-up stress by sitting in the sauna. Pets are welcome for an additional fee, but please do NOT leave your pet alone in the cabin. NOTE-There is a compost toilet just outside the cabin.
**NO HOT WATER or Cable** We do provide Wi-Fi at the cabin now!

***Misuse of the compost toilet will result in a $100 fine. If you are unsure on how to use the toilet please call us.***

**PETS! Airbnb may only charge you for the 1st pet, you will be requested to send an additional $50 plus tax ($53) per pet. Our pet policy is $50/pet plus tax plus an additional one time cleaning charge of $30. If Airbnb does not collect this amount you are still responsible. We're respecting your pet, so please respect our pet policy. Clean up after your pet, please do not allow pets on furniture. Please keep kenneled if left alone. If your pet barks when you are gone, please do not leave it alone.

Great restaurant just up M28, and we cooked at the Camp over open fire. Great caretaker brought more sauna wood. Clean, linens provided, easy to heat and cozy."

- "We took a winter weekend get-away. This cabin is centered between Eben Cave (a beautiful ice cave that takes some hiking to get to) and Valley Spur (great groomed cross-country ski trails) and Pictured Rock (where we went snow-shoeing). We came back to this nice, cozy, warm cabin each night for dinner. It was so nice to sit by the fireplace- so nice and relaxing. The bed was super comfortable too. It was fun to see all the deer out back of the cabin. We would recommend!"

This completely modeled cabin (as of June 2025) is directly across the street from access to the Au Train river and less than a mile from Lake Superior and Autrain beach. Multiple snowmobile trails close by as well (and room to park a trailer). Can sleep up to 4 with a pull out sleeper sofa and full kitchen.
