The 'Northern Exposure' lodge is a unique log cabin with logs hand scribed and shipped from British Columbia. White pine finishes off the interior of the cabin with yellow pine rustic furniture.
The loft has a sitting area to view the beautiful outdoors of the Upper Peninsula. The kitchen comes fully equipped with a sitting bar that is centered to enjoy the living room fireplace and picture windows.

It was a bit dark in the shower, there were lights in there but maybe the batteries were dead? The only other suggestion we would have is maybe a crockpot. It was chilly at night and crockpot soup sounded great. But literally no real complaints!"

This is a spacious 800 sq. ft. lower level walk-out apartment. It is located on the shores of magnificent Lake Superior and is only steps from the beach. Beach umbrella and chairs, fire pit and wood, an outdoor bistro table, Weber grill with charcoal are all provided. The apartment has an efficiency kitchen and a private entrance with your personal key.

It features a large flat screen TV, premium channels, pool table, elliptical bike, bathroom w/electric sauna, and a kitchenette. This property is located 15 minutes from Munising and the famous Pictured Rocks where you can enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, and picture taking. Grand Island has hiking trails, sea caves, and waterfalls. Both sites are famous for their brilliant colored sandstone cliffs. Munising Bay has a lovely harbor, restaurants, microbreweries, and free concerts in the park on Tuesday evenings.

The quaint city of Marquette is about 35 minutes away and is home to Northern Michigan University. Its locations in the harbor makes for a very picturesque setting. There you can find several breweries, restaurants, and shops. If golf is your passion, there are three courses nearby: Pictured Rocks Golf Course in Munising, Grey Walls in Marquette, and Sweetgrass in Escanaba.

If fishing is your thing, there are two charter boat companies in Shelter Bay about 2 miles west of the property which offer full and 1/2
day excursions. There is also a public boat launch less that a mile east of the apartment, so you're almost certain to come home with dinner.

- "This property is absolutely gorgeous and has everything you need for an extended stay. The shower/sauna is unbelievable and worth the stay by itself. Being right at the lake is wonderful too and we spent a while on the tiny beach at both day and night. We were nervous about the owners being upstairs, but we barely heard them at all. Julie and Bob are wonderful hosts and it's easy to strike up a friendly conversation with them. The place is conveniently located near Marquette and Munising with no shortage of things to do. The “Au Train Lake House” is located 15 minutes west of Munising and the Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore. For you snowmobiler/ATV folks we are only a few minute ride to the trails. We own 3 other properties within a couple miles from this lake house and maintain a 5 star rating on all of them. This is a very spacious home that is newly renovated , central A/C, all new furnishings, linens and an amazing custom kitchen with granite counter tops. You will find everything you need to cook or prepare mostly anything. Also, you will find a drip coffee maker with filters provided, as well as a Keurig (BYOB pods)

Stay at the Autrain Lake house and you could wake up early and watch the sun rise over Lake Au Train on the east facing front patio or sit on the back deck in the evening and watch it set over our private Paulson Lake. Our lake home seep sleeps seven (including adults, children & infants) & sits on a unique “dual lakefront” lot with no neighbors. The setting is one you would never grow tired of!

Autrain Lake is great for watersports and fishing. With a public boat launch on the south end of the lake, bring your own Rec/fishing boat to our 30ft dock (in from mid-June until early September). Spend some time in or out on the water, paddling around in one of our 4-10 ft kayaks or 2-SUPs we have on site available to rent. (Life jackets and paddles included) They are $75 per unit for the length of your stay (payable on site if you wish.) If you pre-pay them in advance with your reservation they are only $50 per unit for the entire duration of your stay. Recap your day near the campfire watching the sunset over Paulson Lake unwinding from hiking and waterfall touring. Campfires in designated pit area only. Our cottage is located in the village of Au Train where life's a beach! Whether its summer, fall or winter, nature is always inviting with its seasonal changes. It truly is an "out of city experience" for all seasons. There is nothing like a walk on the beach, a swim in crystal clear water, kayaking/canoeing and fishing til your heart's content, snowmobiling directly from cottage to trail, or just touring the area looking at the beautiful fall colors. Beautiful Lake Superior is the world's largest freshwater lake and it's just a hop, skip, and jump across the road! It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Upper Peninsula.

Our Cottage IS THE ONLY COTTAGE IN THE VILLAGE WITH A VIEW OF LAKE SUPERIOR!

Enjoy the unique deck while gazing out onto the beautiful blue hues of Lake Superior and listening to the waves crashing against the shoreline. Imagine this moment! The cottage is set back in a private area off the road and adjoins the owner's property. Plenty of trees for a privacy buffer. The cottage is the only rental on the property, which makes for a private vacation experience. The cottage grounds has plenty of space for boats, snowmobile trailers, etc. The cottage is located on the DNR trail so there are snowmobiles or ATV's on the trail, especially on the weekends. The cottage has all foam insulation which deadens the sound, however, if you are looking for someplace out in the country where there is absolutely no noise, then this is not the place for you. We live next door and the noise doesn't bother us. It is all in the view and the location close to the Lake Superior beach and the the Au Train River that is important to us.

In the winter, snowmobiling is directly out the front door. No need to trailer the machines. Ample parking for snowmobile trailers. Snowshoe or cross country ski down DNR trail #418 which runs adjacent to the property or across the sand dunes to experience Lake Superior's wild winter waves. Ice Climbing is also popular along the Pictured Rocks shoreline. We even have an Ice Fest weekend in February. About 20 miles away is a small community which hosts their famous 'Outhouse Races' the third week in February! Huge crowds come to watch home-made outhouses race down the streets of Trenary on a thick sheet of snow and ice.

Kayak/canoe launch on the Au Train River across the street with fishing pier and handicap boat launch within 200 ft. Kayak down the famous Au Train River or out into the fresh clear water of Lake Superior. Great winds for kite surfers too! Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a short 12 miles away which features the famous Pictured Rocks Boat Tours, Shipwreck Boat Tours, and hiking along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

The UPSCALE cottage was just built in 2014 which features tongue and groove knotty pine vaulted ceiling in the living room/dining room and knotty pine hardwood flooring. Master BR features a hickory queen size platform bed with 6 drawers for storage and a closet. Second BR features one twin bunk bed and one full size bunk bed both made of solid pine and sturdy enough for adult use. Three drawers under twin bunk for storage. Bathroom consists of full sized washer & dryer and tub/shower combo. We even supply laundry detergent. Kitchen showcases new stainless steel range and a 6' counter for serving/eating meals. Some say the counter tops resemble birch trees. Plenty of cabinet space with Lake Superior rock drawer pulls on the cabinets. Refrig and built in microwave & dishwasher. Small appliances included too...slow cooker, Keurig, coffee pots, etc. Table seats 4-6 and counter seats 2-4. Bright beachy theme displaying Lake Superior photos. Large gas grill is available with propane included. We even provide wood for the fire pit!
Our landscaping is a work in progress as we have to work in between our guests schedules. Our guests have commented, "We feel like we were the first ones here." I take much pride in keeping the cottage very clean for our guests enjoyment and comfort. All you need to bring is your food, clothing, and a desire to have a great vacation.

A 12 mile drive you'll be on the doorstep of the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. Our quaint cabin offers both a rustic and modern feel and is just 25 feet from the shore of AuTrain Lake for a breathtaking view. It's also 3.5 miles from the most beautiful beach on Lake Superior where the river empties into the great lakes largest body of water. A short 12 mile drive to Munising, you will be at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. A relaxing scenic 30 mile drive along Superior takes you to Marquette, the largest U.P. city, is full of excitement with it's famous brewpubs, restaurants, historic homes, buildings, and culture, with multiple activities and the most beautiful lake Superior shoreline with it's parks and sandy pristine beaches.

Enjoy the sunrises with coffee inside the cabin, or on the outside decks with wicker furniture, or a beverage by a fire on the water, as the moon rises across the lake. You will love the picturesque lake views of the north, east, and southern skylines. Viewing the Northern Lights is alway possible from our dock that extends 65 feet into the lake. With a water frontage of approximately 100 feet, you may moor your boat on the dock for water fun. Summer months invite guests to multiple water adventures, whether you enjoy swimming, kayaking, fishing, or motor sports, this cabin is for you. If you enjoy nature, the AuTrain Songbird Trail is just a short drive around the lake to AuTrain Campground and features a 2 mile interpretive hiking loop with twenty bird species. The North Country Trail crossing is just south a half mile for hiking adventures close to the cabin.

Let's not forget the areas biggest attraction, canoeing or kayaking down the slow moving and meandering AuTrain River to Lake Superior. This trip takes approximately three to six hours and area rentals are available.

As the Fall colors take center stage when the cool fall air rolls in, guests will enjoy hiking, kayaking, hunting (duck, grouse, deer) and sharing stories by the camp fire.

In winter as the colors give way to the white powdery snow covered ground, guests will enjoy Alger County's Vally Spur, where you can ski, snowshoe, bike, hike and enjoy nature. Snowmobilers are able take advantage of Superior's lake effect snow with it's nationally acclaimed groomed trails accessible right from your front door.

When you're ready to turn in from the days activities, you will find a cozy living area with many amenities. If you're looking to catch up on news or your favorite tv show, a 55 inch smart television provides viewing pleasure for all. The kitchen features a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher.

This cabin has one bedroom in the lower level, with a full size bed and wall mounted Roku 43 inch smart television and gas fire place. The loft features one couch, two full size beds, and two twin beds and a 32 inch smart Roku television. The bathroom has running water, flushable toilet and a full size tub and shower. Updated in 2022, this quaint, cozy cabin is just a one minute walk to Superior. Centrally located between Marquette & Munising (Pictured Rocks) on 2 lakes, you can easily enjoy beauty on site or with a short drive. From the property you can paddle in our free kayaks & canoes, rock hunt, watch eagles, Northern lights, meteor showers, & the sunrise and set over water. We also have a charter fishing service on site to catch lake trout. The nearest restaurant, the Brownstone, is just 5 min away!

You do not have a direct view of the lake from the cabin, but the property contains 300` of Lake Superior shoreline and you are a one minute walk from the lake.

Our resort amenities include a public pavilion, firepit, and shared deck overlooking the lake for Superior views.

Within 15 minutes you are in Munising where you can do the Pictured Rocks cruise, Shipwreck Tour or Kayak tour and many more. Munising is the start of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and there's days worth of activities there and the surrounding area. See over a dozen waterfalls all within 30 minutes from the property.

The kitchen is large and is fully stocked with brand new appliances. You'll find a really spacious fenced back yard setup with a firepit and grill to enjoy the outdoors and relax after a long day of exploring.
Amenities include a washer/dryer, dishwasher as well. All bedding, linens, towels, paper towel and toilet paper is supplied. If this place doesn't have it, we will get it for you. Spend some time relaxing on the Beach or swim in the warm water of the River where it empties into the Lake in the Summer. Fall is exceptional for color and waterfall tours besides the fall festivals celebrated in the area. Winter is great for ice fishing, snowmobiling, skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, enjoy events like UP200 and yes... even an outhouse race!

- "We rented this lovely property for 4 adults 2 nights. This has 2 bedrooms and a room in the basement with a couch, TV and 2 beds (looks like queens). There is a king bedroom, had a private bath with shower. The 2nd bedroom had 2 twin beds, the 2nd bath has a tub/shower. The kitchen is nicely equipped with cooking dishes, new appliances, there are was a nice assortment of spices in the kitchen. WiFi was available at no additonal charge, a small store less than a block away. We were here when it was really hot out and it would have been nice to have a few fans as there is no air conditioning. The 2nd night the house was a bit warm, had there been more wind that would have helped. The back yard is fenced in, there is a nice deck on the back of the house, no patio furnishings. Would stay again."

We got to use the fire pit and watched a family of Sand Hill Cranes. They did not have wifi which was only mildly inconvenient. We were a family of 6 that comfortably slept us all. The loft bedroom was perfect for our 16yr old grandson. If you plan on spending time outside you may want to take your own yard games for there were none there. Overall we felt safe, comfortable and relaxed. Highly recommend."

This cabin is centered between Eben Cave (a beautiful ice cave that takes some hiking to get to) and Valley Spur (great groomed cross-country ski trails) and Pictured Rock (where we went snow-shoeing). We came back to this nice, cozy, warm cabin each night for dinner. It was so nice to sit by the fireplace- so nice and relaxing. The bed was super comfortable too. It was fun to see all the deer out back of the cabin. We would recommend!"

- "The tiny house was a great rental, sitting on isolated wooded land with 3 others just like it. You have your own private deck and fire pit backing up to woods and a stream. Location is down a gravel road back off the main drag in the small town of Au Train; 2 minutes to a great beach on Lake Superior and about 10 minutes from downtown Munising, with tons of outdoor activities all around you. Home is very well done and nicely furnished. Although it could sleep 4 adults, probably best for a couple or maybe a family with 1 or 2 small children as the loft bed is a tight fit. Check in was easy and communication was good with property manager Ashley. WIFi would get a little spotty at time and was cell reception, but that’s too be expected way up north in the woods. Overall, a great experience and a great place to stay, close to everything but quiet and solitary. Would definitely stay again when I head back up that way."
