We had a great time chatting with Jim and learing about the history of the Birch Lodge. Even got to meet Jack thier dog. Cute little gift shop with something for everyone. We will definitely be booking a summer trip back to the Birch Lodge. "

If you have nostalgia for rustic living in the woods and the smell of a wood stove, this cabin is an absolute nostalgia-filled joy to stay in. It's a great place to relive those youthful memories, even though it's not the same cabin I stayed in as a kid. Great place to play board games, cook over an open flame, sit outside and star gaze, enjoy the bird song of being in the woods, and unplug for a weekend. Beautiful 2-bedroom cabin. With an excellent location. Great for snowmobilers and SXS's. Close to Whitefish Bay and Tahquamenon Falls. There are numerous local attractions. Cabin is fully equipped. Ample parking for trucks and trailers. Cabin is equipped with Wi-Fi. Outside deck with a propane grill. Also picnic table and firepit.

There were also plenty of hiking trails and scenic stops along Lakeshore Drive through Whitefish Bay. The property itself was private and peaceful, offering a quiet retreat after our adventures. This is not your ordinary vacation rental. If you need to be on the phone or the computer, this is not the place for you. We do provide a TV for watching movies. Twenty miles north of the Mackinaw Bridge, we are in the middle of the Hiawatha National Forest on a small inland lake. Yet we are close enough to freeway and local attractions, to return to civilization whenever the mood strikes.

The lake is a shallow lake good for kayaking,(3 kayaks are included as is a rowboat), canoeing, and fishing. We are surrounded by forest and wildlife. It is not uncommon to see wolves, bears, and on a rare occasion moose.
The lake has 3 pair of nesting loons, that fill the air with the pristine sound of nature. Great spot for birding. If you love birds you will be in paradise. Eagles, hummingbirds, pileated woodpeckers, kingfishers, warblers, more types of water fowl than I can list here.

North Country Trail traverses the area and is excellent for hiking. ATV trails are also near by. If you enjoy biking cross country, you will love it here.

Lake Michigan Beach off US-2 is about 20 minutes away, if you want to enjoy swimming on a beautiful sandy shoreline. Tacquamenon Falls are about a hour north, as is Whitefish Point. The ferry to Mackinaw Island is a half an hour south. Sault Ste. Marie and the Soo Locks, are 45 min. northeast.

This is the place to really escape. Easy access on good roads. Very few houses on this thousand acre lake, as 75% of the shoreline is owned by the national forest.

Our house is a two bedroom home that sleeps six inside the house along with two full bathrooms. Along with a rustic bunkhouse that will sleep an addition four people (electric only).

ORV/Snowmobile trail is located at the end of the driveway so head on out to the north to Paradise and Tahquamenon Falls, east to Strongs, Brimley, Sault St. Marie, South to Trout Lake, Brevort, Rexton and West to Newberry, Seney.

We have wild life that love to come and walk right up to to our back deck and front porch and just check things out.

Local attractions include Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point, Sault St Marie, Newberry, Oswald's Bear Ranch, Trout Lake.

- "This place was the perfect little spot for a family weekend getaway. We actually loved that the water was shallow, as it was fun for the kids. The view is gorgeous! The cottage had everything we needed to cook meals, have a small bonfire, etc. the owner was also very responsive to our questions and concerns. The two air conditioners provided were enough to keep the place cool. Kitchen was nicely stocked, we cooked most of our meals. The coffee pot is a mini, but there is a keurig type machine as well. Appreciated the clean fridge (not full of other renters leftovers or a dozen half empty condiment bottles.) Mosquitoes were heavy during our stay, make sure to bring bug spray! We had one small hiccup during our stay (bathtub was missed during cleaning prior to our arrival,) i reached out to the owner about it and received a quick response and the issue was resolved asap. My only recommendation would be to add some room darkening curtains, at least in the bedrooms. Nice cottage and plenty of room to spread out and relax with the fam."
