- "We enjoyed our two week stay. The owner was easy to get in touch with and quick to respond." - "Awesome house, clean fun time." - "The property is very remote, several miles outside of Gaylord, but for us, that was part of the appeal. The rental offers plenty of room for a large family or group, with 5 beds (3 in the kids rooms), as well as a pull out sofa in the living room and a comfy sectional that could work as a bed in the huge rec room. Our son especially loved this area, with a big tv, video games and comfy seating. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials. And, the fire pit was so nice at night, surrounded by quiet woods. Best of all, the area is an hour or so from Mackinaw City, Traverse City, Petoskey and not much further to Sleeping Bear Dunes. All in all, it was a great up north experience. The host was super quick to respond to any questions we had. We would definately stay again."

Location. Location. Location.
Our Cabin is the perfect location whether you chose to spend a week or a long weekend with friends and family in this updated cabin in the woods.
Camp Louise is tucked away in the quiet, serene forest of Northern Michigan. With a private lake only a ten-minute walk away, ORV trails just around the corner, four different ski resorts within 30 minutes (Schuss Mountain/Shanty creek, Boyne Mountain, Treetop Sylvan, The Otsego Club), and multiple golf courses nearby (one just 6 minutes away), Camp Louise is the absolute ideal location for a perfect vacation.
If outdoor sports aren't your fancy, cheers to you: you're only 30 minutes away from multiple breweries, distillers, and vineyards, and roughly 45 minutes to Traverse City. On top of all that, Camp Louise is only 40 minutes to beautiful Lake Michigan. Come relax and enjoy the sights and serenity that only Northern Michigan can provide!
The property has been renovated with the comfort of guests in mind. Throughout the process, our goal was to make this cabin in the woods feel like a home away from home: where friends could come and relax for a few days or a few weeks. Brand-new, comfortable furniture with plenty of seating allows for everyone to gather around to eat a great meal, play games, or warm up by the outdoor fire ring. The open-concept kitchen and island make it easy to prepare meals while laughing with the group or keeping your eye on the game.
If the weather has you down during your stay, the nearby clubhouse has plenty of things to keep you occupied: An indoor swimming pool and water slide, hot tub, lazy river, game room, and cozy fireplace!
This property gives you all the benefits of being remote and secluded, while still close to plenty of creature comforts. A ten-minute walk to the lake, a six-minute drive to golf, a restaurant/bar run by some of the friendliest people around, and only twenty minutes to a town that has everything you'll need. Come see why staying at Camp Louise is really our favorite place on earth:)
Also, ask us about a potential discounts during non-peak times!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Air Conditioning: There is no air conditioning, there are fans provided.
ATVs: Best to leave those home.
Animals: Yes, there are all kinds of animals that like to roam around in Northern Michigan. While you don't see most of them, you have to be someone who is comfortable in that true outdoorsy environment. Guests have reported seeing and hearing, both a mouse and squirrels at times. We do our absolute best to keep all the critters away and out of the cabin. We do not use Decon within the cabin due to children being part of our family of guests. Fall is the biggest challenge as the little critters, including mice, are looking for a warm place to stay the winter months. We are vigilant about keeping critters at bay, and are always open to suggestions.
Bathroom:
Main floor: Full bath
Upstairs: ½ bath (toilet & sink)
Beach: 50 feet of lakefront with a small sandy area on Hoffman Lake. We also provide beach chairs. The beach area starts off shallow, then progressively drops off about 10-15 feet off the natural shoreline. This is not Disney World. The shoreline natural. There are the standard lakefront bugs, including mosquitos at dusk.

Cell phone coverage: Very spotty. To the best of our knowledge, only Verizon customers seem to get the best connection. AT&T service does not seem to work at all at The Mint.

City staff feed the animals corn, hay and sugar beets, plus vitamins. The herd started with three elk 14 years ago, when a local nature center closed. - "Excellent location. Small, quiet lake with decent fishing. The kids enjoyed the spiral staircase and big deck. The wife enjoyed the awesome lake view. I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet area and fish. Awesome place, we will definitely be staying here again!" - "Exactly what we needed. Close to the wedding festivities." - "The house was as described on line. It was neat, tidy and was great to have everyone together. The view of the lake was nice and don't forget the retractable awning. Checking in and out was easy and the owners were great to work with. They provided local info and worked with us when we called. There is a rowboat but no other water craft. Overall a very nice experience."

- "Nice location for my visit. I’m building a home in Alden Meadows. I was able to meet with my builder and take care of business in Belair. My only complaint, and it’s a small one, the bathroom shower is reversed for the cold and hot water. I was waiting for the shower to heat up for about 10 minutes and it kept running cold. I thought that there might be a problem with the water heater. I turned on the hot water in the sink and it got hot quickly. I then turned the shower from hot to cold and comfortably hot water came out. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and everything worked. The fire pit was wonderful and the charcoal grill was in good shape. We’ll worth the price of the stay."

Why “Cabin 14”?
You might be wondering about the name. Well, it holds a special meaning for us. My husband and I were both college athletes—he played baseball and I played hockey. When we first met and swapped stories about our athletic days, we discovered a fun coincidence: we had both worn the same jersey number—14.
Since then, the number 14 has held a special place in our lives, so when it came time to name our getaway, "Cabin 14" was the perfect choice. It’s more than just a number—it’s a nod to our shared history and a reminder of the things we love.

- "This property was amazing!!! The house had everything we needed and with extra ammenties. Loved the back porch and yard. We would definitely stay here again. The home owners were great too!! We had a dead car battery and they helped us get the car running. Thank you!!!" - "Brand new cabin in the middle of the woods with only one other house visible. You're surrounding by nothing but woods at the time of this writing. The owner's posting pictures don't do the place justice. It's really nice and is furnished as if the owners actually use the place themselves. Everything you might need (olive oil, foil, soap, etc...) is all there already. Super clean and everything works! - you won't regret it!"

A view of a meadow, and the forest beyond, lots of privacy, and tall trees all around. The Barndominium is charming and well-appointed, and the bed was comfortable. - "Really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Did get lost leaving on day one, through my own fault. It didn't really matter as we weren't going anywhere in particular anyway. Everything we needed for 2 was in the cabin. The community kitchen just next door would have supplied anything else that may have been needed and I might have to outfit my garage the same way... full stove etc. Lol. The only issue was spotty internet and the TV would lose internet connection. Didn't bother me at all as I don't care to watch TV but I realize that this could be a problem for other people."
