- "Quite fun and great location" - "The cabin was filthy and needed deep cleaning. In detail: There were cobwebs hanging places that were obviously many years old. The floor had not been cleaned within for 4" of the wall for years. It is an old rustic cabin which was expect. On day two the rental company called us to check in on our stay. I told them this. They said they recently took on the property for renting but had not seen it yet. They offered me a discount on a future rental. I said that was a nothing they should offer some type of discount on this rental. She said she would check on that. They have not contacted me. Ultimately, we left after two of the three nights that we paid for and found a clean hotel to stay in. I am not one to bother leaving negative reviews but others should not repeat our experience."

Location! Minutes from Elk Rapids, the whole group will enjoy this spacious cottage right on Elk Lake, sandy bottom beach, and large yard. Amazing views of the lake from the open floor plan. Overlooking the private space through the wall of oversized sliders. 1000 sq. foot deck with plenty of lounging and dining areas. Four bedrooms and full walkout basement with plenty of toys! We are currently upgrading furniture.

There is an outdoor gas grill as well as a fire pit for late night star gazing, s'mores and family get-togethers. The house is equipped with Geo-thermal heating and air conditioning for comfortable all year round temperatures.

- "Excellent stay!" - "We were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves right on the water of a wonderful lake . Fishing was awesome. Peace and quiet plus. The house was great but no dishwasher, had to put my husband to work. I’d do it all again!" - "My wife, four children (ages 16-22) and I spent a splendid week at the Burke's cottage. We found the Cozy Cottage on Torch Lake exactly as advertised. The cottage sits right down on the lake providing great access for water activities and great views of the lake. The lake has a nice sandy bottom in front of the cottage and it is relatively shallow several yards out. There is a mooring line out front which made it easy to secure the pontoon boat which we rented from a site on the lake. There is a nice deck on the back of the cottage with a gas grill where we enjoyed several meals around the picnic table. We also enjoyed nightly fires around the fire pit in the front yard. This was a great place to enjoy each others company. I strongly recommend the Burke's cottage to those looking for a similar experience."

Welcome to Birch Lake!

Our cottage is tucked away just outside of the beautiful town of Elk Rapids. This home away from home is set on over 110 feet of private shore line on a crystal clear, spring fed, all sports lake. We are on 4 acres of wooded land with protected wetlands along our northern border. We see lots of wildlife including deer, rabbits, ducks, loons, turtles and beaver. Birch Lake is a sandy bottom lake with a gradual slope, making it perfect for swimming. Our cottage provides comfortable sleeping for six. The master bedroom has a queen size bed. The guest rooms have 2 twin beds all freshy made waiting for your arrival. Our kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, utensils, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, stove/oven. Our bathroom has a new shower and has two doors, one connecting to the master bedroom and one for guest rooms to access. Minutes away from downtown elk rapids providing access to the beautiful Grand Traverse Bay through a white sandy beach. Whether its golf, water sports, fishing, shopping, wine tasting or just watching the sun set - J&J's Hideaway is a great escape! Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
