- "Kevim has done a great job renovating the Dune Climb Inn since he purchased it in April. Very comfortable bed and beautiful surroundings. You are on a bike path that can take you to the Glen Haven Beach and Dune Climb Park as well as other area attractions. It has a fire pit and outdoor furniture. Only negative was the shower. It was small and has yellow stains. It also forms a puddle at the bottom as it runs." - "It was adorable! It also smelled very clean when we entered our room."

Also on the extended deck, are 6 comfortable chairs with cushions and tables, around an outdoor gas fire pit. Additionally, a regular fire pit is located in the backyard, with PLENTY of firewood provided.

Our retreat is located on 120 acres of beautiful wooded land in Leelanau county. To arrive you drive on a well maintained two track through a lovely woods. When you step out of your car, you truly understand the notion of 'getting away.'

House is a 1200 sq ft timber frame,mortice and tenon frame, with stress skin panels. Custom made cabinets. House is a simple yet elegant design.

The kitchen is nicely equipped, with a nice collection of cook books. Also a nice collection of reading books. A good place for quiet contemplation.

We are located 9 miles to Empire Beach, and 18 miles from Traverse City.

This region is renowned for its natural beauty, the spectacular sand beaches of Lake Michigan, the vineyards and cherry orchards of Leelanau County. The closest golf course is four miles away. Empire beach, only two miles from the property, was named one of the top 21 beaches in the world. The Village of Empire is just a couple of miles up M-22 and includes restaurants, coffee and shopping. Enjoy open views by sitting on the front porch or by the campfire (firewood included) and all that Leelanau County has to offer— dune bluffs, rivers for kayaking, and amazing views of Lake Michigan.

The house features one master bedroom (queen) and an open loft upstairs with three beds (2 twin and 1 full size). There is a full size kitchen (cookware included), living room, and one full bathroom. Vacation at the beach in this two bedroom, two bathroom 1900 sq. ft. house / cottage that partially overlooks Lake Michigan and South Bar Lake. Walk the tree lined sidewalk 600 ft to the Lake Michigan shore and play on the sand beach. Lake Michigan water level fluctuates every year. Visit Empire Michigan webcam for current lake conditions. There is extensive playground equipment at the beach. The Village of Empire which is seven miles south of Glen Arbor is home to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park Visitor Center. The Sleeping Bear Heritage Bike Trail winds through the woods and is paved from Empire to the 'Dune Climb' and continues into Glen Arbor. The trail has been extended north along M-22 to Bohemian Road.

Within walking distance of one block to the east are the Post Office, Bank, Friendly's Tavern, the Bicycle and Surf Shop and Tiffany's Ice Cream Parlor. Two blocks to the east is the Public Library. Stonegable is a modern farmhouse nestled among pines and 150 acres of walking trails located just outside of Empire Village (2 miles) right in the middle of Leelanau farm country. You'll find yourself surrounded by cherry and apple orchards, hops farms and fields of sweet smelling hay. Fresh eggs can be purchased just down the driveway.
Stonegable has a new generator (2023) for storms. Runs everything but stove and microwave ( grill on site) . So you will have water, lights, hot water heater for showers, refrigerator. and heat in the event of a storm that results in a loss of power. Very few rental properties in Empire or northern Michigan have a generator back up plan which can save a vacation.

The home sports a gallery of original oil paintings of the property by a local artist which are all available for purchase. It’s a perfect property for a couples retreat , artists, writers, photographers,conservationists, bird watchers, nature lovers,and astronomers.

It was an easy drive to the other quaint towns (Glen Arbor, Leland, Arcadia) and other attractions. Stonegable was very comfortable and clean with an abundance of amenities. A Northern Getaway is a new house, decorated in a fresh decor! This house is well equipped and features a full kitchen and a dining table that seats four and a relaxing living room. An entry hall, half bath and laundry facilities round out the first floor level. Upstairs are two bedrooms with attached bathrooms each. The house is best suited for 4 adults or 2 adults with 2 children 15 or older as the house has no extra space to play or watch TV.
Bed linens, bath and kitchen towels will be provided.
Dish soap, dishwasher tabs, garbage bags and hand soap will be at the cottage. Please bring any toiletries to last you through your stay.

Empire offers a great Lake Michigan beach with picnic tables and fire pits and another beach on South Bar Lake. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore invites you to explore the many trails and beaches and the new bicycle trail from Empire to Good Harbor Beach (E-Bikes are available for rent nearby). The beach is in walking distance (about a mile+) and the park headquarters are also nearby. The house has a deck with patio seating and a view into the nearby meadow.
Empire is in the center of it all- visit wineries, go kayaking, hiking or biking, enjoy the many beaches, go shopping in the many quaint villages nearby or take road trips through Leelanau County, Old Mission Peninsula or south of Empire (Frankfort, Point Betsie).
The house is accessed by stairs from the parking spot, there is a staircase in the house as well. Trailers of any kind can not be accommodated at the property.

The 'Beach House' on Little Glen Lake was built in the early 20's as part of the old 'Oasis Resort', one of the early resorts that used to operate around the lake. Originally a boathouse, It was converted to a cottage sometime in the late 30's. In 1996 we completely gutted the original building and rebuilt it as a private guest cottage. Surrounded by extensive decks and a shaded private outdoor dining area the cottage sits on a very private setting on the north shore of Little Glen Lake with spectacular views of the surrounding hills, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and fabulous sunsets.

The water is crystal clear with a sandy bottom and is excellent for swimming and is especially nice for small children as it is shallow for over 100' out. You have your own private dock, and a dedicated mooring is available should you bring your own boat.

The south facing deck in front of the cottage has both chaise lounges and adirondack chairs and is perfect for reading, getting a tan or enjoying a beverage. A canoe and 2 kayaks are available for your use. After dark enjoy a fire and smores in your own private firepit.

Be aware that there is a stairway which you must negotiate to reach the cottage - not steep, 22 steps with several landings. Not appropriate for wheelchairs or walkers.

The Space:
The Place - This home is 2,700 square feet.
The newly renovated main living area has loads of natural light and a wood burning fireplace, large viewing windows, and a furniture set-up that makes for great socializing and relaxing chill time. The dining area is positioned next to a large window as is the height adjustable work station. The large smart TV makes for great movie viewing.

The main bedroom has a sunrise facing slider and a new luxury king bed. The closet has vintage wallpaper (that is a sure-fire crowd pleaser). The second bedroom has a new luxury queen bed.

2 Full bathrooms on the main level. One with shower and tub, one with walk-in shower.

On the lower level, there is a half bath and two trundle beds. Also on the lower level is a ping pong table and a TV area for gaming, and a game table for 4.
There is a garage available for storing your bike, kayak, paddleboard or any other toys you bring along. There is also paved parking for a boat trailer with easy access.

The deck is set up for viewing the scenery along with outdoor dining for six. An elevated outdoor firepit gives the feeling of being on top of the world. An additional patio offers another chilling and grilling spot. We have a propane grill available for you to use!

Please note this home does not have direct lake access, but it is just steps away from a DNR boat ramp.

Guest Access:
Welcome to northern Michigan, where our wintertime weather can swing from glorious to ferocious in a flash. Each of our properties has snow removal service scheduled to plow with each snowfall amounting to at least 3 inches of snow. If the vehicle you bring is not 4-Wheel or All-Wheel Drive, please be aware of the potential risks accessing the property when snow is present.
This home's driveway is very steep. So please take this into consideration.

The Neighborhood:
Explore Alligator Hill right out the back door, or within a five minute drive, you can climb the famous Dune Climb, visit Glen Haven beach, or hike/bike the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail.
Rent a boat at The Narrows marina on Big Glen or launch your own at the public launch on Little Glen Lake - both are a short walk away.
Glen Arbor and Lake Michigan are 2.5 miles down the road. This property is unique in that is provides a close to nature vibe that flows from a park like setting and a large elevated lot with expansive views of the surrounding area. Its close to everything except your neighbor.

Please Note: All guests staying at this property must be 25 or older unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. This will be verified after booking confirmation.

A damage waiver fee is required by Golden Swan for each stay. For this property, the fee is $69 and provides our guests with accidental damage coverage up to $600. If the amount of damage exceeds this, or if the damage is found to have occurred with malicious intent, Golden Swan retains the right to seek damages beyond that amount.

There is a non-refundable credit card processing fee applied to all reservations.

If the reservation is 14 days or longer there will be a required mid-stay clean. This is also available upon request for a shorter length of stay.

Dogs are allowed with an additional fee, with a maximum of 2 dogs. Please be advised that it is absolutely imperative for all renters to keep their dogs on a leash at all times. While we truly appreciate and value pets, ensuring that our furry friends are leashed or properly secured is of utmost importance to us. Please take your pup with you or kennel them when you leave the home. We cannot have lonely barking dogs left at our property. Please be considerate and clean up after your pet.

Getting Around:
The cottage is located only 1 mile from Sleeping Bear Dunes, a 5-7 minute drive to both Glen Arbor and Empire, and about 30 minutes from Traverse City.

This is a strictly non-smoking property, including all indoor and outdoor areas.

In warm months, we offer an on-site pontoon boat rental! Contact BVR with any questions or interest!
For insurance and liability reasons, guests are strictly not permitted to tie any watercraft to the dock under any circumstances.
