- "Our stay at Trout Lily Cabin was wonderful! My husband and I wanted to go Up North for a little get-away to see the leaves change, and to adventure around the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. On our way in on Friday night we stopped at a fabulous Mexican restaurant near the cabin called Roadhouse Mexican Bar and Grill. Yum! -A bit of a foodie place, with a lovely outdoor bar area. We ate inside at the bar though because the place was full. Seems very popular! The cabin and property was even more beautiful than we expected. After our Saturday out hiking, beaching, and “scenic viewing,” we came home to the warm hot tub which was ready to go! Looking out from the hot tub a beautiful forest spralls out before your eyes. Inside, you see this same view from all of the main living spaces: the dining room, kitchen, and living room. After our soak, we walked across the lawn, through a short wooded trail, and down to the river with a couple of cocktails. There is a lovely deck and dock on the river with quality outdoor couches and chairs. Golden sun rays illuminated the sandy bottom of the shallow river, maybe 4 feet at the deepest here. The scenery was beautiful, and very private with a complete wooded area across the river as well. We talked about bringing our kayaks up the next time we come. It would be very easy to put them in the river here and kayak down to Lake Michigan. On our way back to the cottage we sat on the front porch for a while to enjoy this space before going out to dinner at The Manitou in between Beaulah and Frankfort. The food was fabulous, and wait staff were friendly and efficient. We chose to sit outside by the firepit, but you could easily make reservations and sit in the fancier dining rooms. There is also a fire pit outside the cabin and a wood burning stove inside, both very easy to use. And ample wood ready to use inside and outdoors. The TV works well and the living room furniture is quality and comfortable to lay around and read, talk and laugh! Our trip was a much needed getaway! Thank you to the owners for thinking of every little detail! Especially the clean and well appointed and updated kitchen area. So easy to cook and visit with people at the same time."

Our Beautiful Condo is located in the Historical Benzie County Courthouse in the quaint Village of Beulah. Every window has incredible views of Crystal Lake, Beulah's Public Beach, and the Village Park, and they are all just steps away!
The condo is perfect for families of all ages, and its single floor is great for those who can’t handle steps.

The Hillside Hideaway at Crystal Lake is a luxurious northern Michigan cabin on top of Eden Hill, just outside of the cute little town of Beulah. The cabin is on a very private, serene, and beautiful lot surrounded by trees. This cabin has an incredible large deck with a seasonal view of Crystal Lake through the trees. The huge private deck also has outdoor dining furniture, a gas grill, a propane fire table, and a lovely private year-round spa / hot tub right on the deck!

NEIGHBORHOOD:

Another great feature of the cabin is Crystal Lake and the cabin's proximity to both it and the nearby public beach on Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake is a beautiful, clear, clean, and deep lake with lovely hills around it. The lake is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful lakes in Michigan. It is very family-friendly and is a popular location for swimming, fishing, and boating.

The cottage is also located just a short drive from downtown Beulah. Beulah is a cute little northern Michigan town located on the east end of Crystal Lake. The town was founded name in 1880 by Reverent Charles E. Bailey and its name is actually Biblical in nature. It has a cute little main street (Benzie Blvd.) which has a nice collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, a post office, and a couple of bars. We would particularly recommend Ursa Major Bistro and L'Chayim Delicatessen in terms of places to eat in downtown Beulah. One of the neat surprises in Beulah is that there is a wonderful interactive children's science museum called COGnition in the downtown area.

Outside of Beulah, the cabin is just a 10-minute drive from Frankfort, Frankfort Public Beach, and Lake Michigan to the west. To the north, the start of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is just a 10-minute drive north from the cabin. For additional dining, shopping, and entertainment options, downtown Traverse City is just a 45-minute drive from the cabin.

GUEST ACCESS:

A portion of the basement is locked off for storage of the property owner's personal item. There is also a detached garage on the property that is not available for guest usage. Apart from this, guests have full access to the entire house and everything on the property.

THE SPACE:

In addition to the outdoor deck, there is also a very nice fire ring / fire pit on the property with Adirondack chairs around it, which works great for having bonfires and s'mores!

Inside this vacation home, the cabin is beautifully decorated with Western wood-themed design and artwork throughout the cabin. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and sleeps 8 adults comfortably. The cabin has both a large living room downstairs (featuring a beautiful wood fireplace, which is available for guests to use) as well as an upstairs family room that features a large flat screen television. The cottage has both cable television as well as Wi-Fi. The cabin has a complete kitchen with an electric range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, sink, island, and lots of counter space and cabinets. The kitchen is stocked with a good supply of cooking and dining utensils. There is a nice dining area with a dining table and chairs just off of the cottage. The cabin also has a lovely den / reading room at the front of the cabin with an additional television. The cottage also has its own clothes washer and dryer.

The master bedroom (with a queen-size bed) and one of the bathrooms are located on the main floor. The second bedroom (with a king-size bed) and the second full bathroom are located on the second floor. In the large basement, there is a queen-size bed and a twin-on-full bunk bed. The washer and dryer are also in the basement along with a half-bathroom. Note that the half-bathroom in the basement does not have a door to it. It is in a private corner of the basement (not visible from the main living area in the basement) for a bit of privacy. Please also note that the downstairs beds work great for adults or teenagers, but, being in the basement, might be a little scary for young children.

The cabin is also pet-friendly, air-conditioned, and has an open design with a beautiful wood fireplace on the main floor. This is truly an exceptional vacation rental property in a fantastic location!

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

1) DRIVEWAY: The cabin is along a long driveway that runs from Eden Hill Road up to the top of Eden Hill. The driveway serves 4 houses on Eden Hill and is quite steep, narrow, and curvy. PLEASE DRIVE VERY SLOWLY ON THE DRIVEWAY AND BE VERY CAREFUL ON THE DRIVEWAY! There are a few other properties that use the same driveway and neighbors may be walking on the driveway (which does not have much shoulder space). To avoid issues, PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION ON THE DRIVEWAY AND BEWARE OF NEIGHBORS WALKING ON THE DRIVEWAY! Also, we have the driveway privately plowed, salted, and sanded in the winter, but it occasionally can still be difficult to get up the driveway in the wintertime. As such, we do suggest that guests utilize vehicles with snow tires and/or 4-wheel-drive when coming to the cabin in the winter.

2) LOWER LEVEL: We originally listed this property as a 3-bedroom house, but, as shown in the early reviews, some guests did not feel that the downstairs "bedroom" qualified as a bedroom and rated us quite poor in terms of "Accuracy". Thus, we changed the listing to only being a 2-bedroom property. The "downstairs bedroom" is now listed as a third living room with 3 beds in it.

3) PET POLICY: Up to 3 dogs are permitted at the property. If bringing 1 to 3 dogs, please make certain that they are included on the reservation and that the pet fee is appropriately paid. More than 3 dogs is strictly prohibited and any pets other than dogs are also strictly prohibited.

4) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Please note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Please make certain that the correct number of guests is specified on the reservation so that the pricing is correct.

5) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. We will not know until the day before arrival whether or not the property will be available for early check-in or not. You can check with our local property manager the day before arrival or on your arrival day to see if the property will be available for early check-in or not.

6) LATE CHECK-OUT: We maintain a very strict and structured cleaning schedule. As such, late check-outs are strictly prohibited.

This house has a dock/hoist and 50' of private frontage on Crystal. The cottage has been in our family since the 1950's. A private bedroom on the first floor and a second story that sleeps up to 8. A full kitchen, laundry, plus a garage and 1&1/2 baths. We completed a 80% face-lift to the house in 2013. Just outside of town and within walking distance of everything in Beulah. Kayaks and bikes on premises, nearby park and tennis court. There is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the marvelous sunsets.

Whispering Pines Cottage overlooks our two acre "Mirror Pond", a deep, spring fed, icy-cold body of water home to our native brook trout (The State "Fish" of Michigan), with a large stand of tall White Pine as a backdrop behind the pond. Our cozy cottage has two bedrooms with queen-sized beds, dressers and closets, a bathroom with shower, living room - with gas fireplace, Wi-Fi, Int4rnet, TV and a large couch for laid-back evenings after a busy day exploring Benzie and Leelanau Counties, a fully equipped kitchen with adjacent dining area which has a "slider" to our deck, overlooking "Mirror Pond", gas grill, and patio furniture. A new deck has been created by the pond with a fire pit and grill. The cottage also has a washer and dryer for your convenience. The closely mowed grass surrounding the cottage and pond provide ample area to stretch your legs and enjoy the property. The bird feeders attract numerous species of birds from the forested area around the cottage who also "kick-out" enough bird seed for the "resident ducks" who come to the grassy areas surrounding the feeders for the treat left for them by their "cousins". Pond visitors include various species of ducks, Blue Herons, and occasional Egret's, and resident deer. Whispering Pines Cottage is at the hub of Our Northwestern Michigan vacation paradise. Going West on Honor Hwy (US-31) within fifteen minutes you'll quickly arrive on the shore of Lake Michigan in the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. Going East within ten minutes you'll arrive at Interlochen National Music Camp with its summer student performances as well as international "headliners" contracted by the Interlochen Music Camp to perform during the summer with monies raised from performances going toward student scholarships and operation of the school. Going North up Benzie Hwy 669 will quickly get you into the Sleeping Bear National Park's northern reaches as well as the "Winery Vineyards" of Leelanau County.

We love the area and always run out of time to do everything. This trip was for music. It was the perfect distance for dinner away from the venue, and a short drive to the venue. There was plenty of space on the rainy day to spread out, play games and have snacks (we always travel with groceries). The property has so much natural beauty with the lake like a mirror, wildflowers and birds. Owners are very nice and provide a well stocked home. Many kitchen appliances and utensils. The cottage has 70' of private frontage on one of Michigan's best lakes in the northwest section of the lower peninsula. Eight miles long. Excellent for fishing, skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and sailing. Great sunsets.

The cottage is located in the Village of Beulah. The public beach, tennis/pickle ball courts and downtown are only a few blocks away.

The cottage has been completely renovated over the last few years. It is about 15' off the water.

The Betsie Valley Trail crosses the back of the lot. It is 22 miles long. One direction heads to Frankfort, which is on Lake Michigan, and the other to Thompsonville. The trail is walking and bike friendly. There are two bikes at the cottage available at no charge. Google "Betsie Valley Trail" and click on "trail tour" for many pictures, including several of Crystal Lake.

Other nearby activities include golfing [several courses], tennis/pickle ball [courts are about 500 feet from the cottage], and canoeing down the Platte River. The cottage is about a 10 minute drive to Lake Michigan. Traverse city is 30 miles away. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is around 30 miles away.

- "We have been visiting Crystal Lake for about 50 years and this is a fantastic property. We have stayed in many rentals around the world, and this is probably the best equipped property we have ever stayed in. Nothing is missing, and the property is top notch in every way, beautifully renovated a few years ago. Everything works, great water pressure, laundry equipment, air conditioning run for 30 minutes to take the humidity out of the house after a rain. For the first time ever at a rental, we did not have to purchase any supplies (aside from food, of course a tenant has to buy their own food!). My favorite features were the solid internet, the wraparound porch with plenty of shaded seating, and the proximity to the Lake. The house is so close to the Lake, even inside due to rain, the Lake can still be enjoyed. Having the patio doors open at night was wonderful with the lapping shoreline providing white noise. For most our 50 years we were on the north side of the Lake on Crystal Drive, and one of the first things we noticed was there is zero car noise here (the traffic noise is ever present on the north side). This house is also walkable to the village of Beulah (shops restaurants and more). Our hosts (a local couple) are lovely people. I cannot say enough nice things about this property and we have reserved for next year."

Crystal Lake offers the Betsy Trail which circumvents this beautiful lake and offers 22 mile ride or hike is an excellent way to scope out the lake and it’s surrounding. Area. The Betsy Trail is right outside your door step. NO SMOKING inside/outside. NOTE: the views from the deck can differ depending on season, pictures from deck are on the listing. My beachfront is right on the lake across the street, one minute walk. Beulah Public Beach .7 mi. NOTE: only rental guests have access to outdoor amenities. This is a unique hotel-style single room with a loft has room for up to seven people. The "Hockey Room" is a themed room that overlooks an outdoor hockey rink in the winter time and play area in the summer time. There are multiple rentals on this property, but they are all spread out in different locations. There are trails to explore on the 20 acre wooded property and you will have shared access to the outdoor hot tub.

There is one main room with a queen bed and a loft space with couches that fold down into queen size beds (Couches will be set up as couches on your arrival. Bedding is provided if you want to use them as beds.). Both rooms have their own Roku TV's with Spectrum cable access. There is a full bathroom with shower. In the kitchen you’ll find the cabinets fully stocked with tableware. Hoping to do some cooking? There’s a food processor, crock pot, hand mixer and more.

The pantry has additional odds and ends, plus more seating for the dining table.

The bathroom has a large vanity and full tub. There’s a washer and dryer asl well.

The bedroom has a queen bed, usb chargers on the nightstand, and plenty of storage. There’s an iron and ironing board in the closet.

The owners live upstairs with their rescue dog. The dog is always tethered or leashed. Please give plenty of space to the dog.
