Catch the sunrise to start your day and the sunset late in the evening from multiple furnished decks overlooking Big Platte Lake - dazzling water views from the living room, dining room, and kitchen.

Our private waterfront is bathed by crystal clear water. It is an ideal water-playground for children because of an extensive shallow area (300 feet); perfect for frolicking, wading, Frisbee, and floating, with deeper water farther out for swimming, kayaking, jet-skiing, water-skiing, fishing, and canoeing. A Soft, mint-leaf lawn for volleyball or other barefoot adventures waits at the shoreline, and a flower-garden with a dizzying assortment of fragrant lilies separates the cottage from the guest house.

Our 500-foot driveway is lined with magnificent birch, maple and oak trees, lending a feeling of quiet seclusion to the property. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore can be reached in less than five minutes by foot - we are just outside the edge of the park

Some of the most beautiful beaches on Lake Michigan are just a five minute drive (ten minute bike ride) from the house. Alternatively, you could board our canoe or kayaks on our private waterfront, wind your way down the Platte River, and emerge two glorious hours later in the splendor of Lake Michigan.

Both the cottage and guest house were custom built in the mid-1990’s. The design concept was to allow light reflecting off of the lake to fill the structures with natural light. Open floor plans, skylights and huge windows make artificial lighting completely unnecessary during daylight hours. On clear, moon-lit nights, the glitter from Platte Lake throws an ethereal blue light throughout the cottage. The cottage living room, dining area, and kitchen are one open area, making it possible for big families to spread out while still inhabiting the same space. The guest house interior is also one open space with a sleeping area, a sitting area, and a TV-nook.

Relax at our family cottage near the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The cottage is located on Little Platte Lake, ideal for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing. Winter activities include ice fishing, snow showing, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing. We are located on a private bay, directly across from The Medenbrook Nature Preserve where you have unobstructed views of the tree line.

The cottage is located on a private road in a quiet community, but close enough to all that northwestern Michigan has to offer. Explore the beaches and hiking trails of the National Lakeshore, or take a trip up to Traverse City for shopping, restaurants, art, and music. The charming towns of Beulah, Empire, Frankfort, and Glen Arbor are within 10-20 minutes of the cottage.

If you enjoy fishing and boating, the Little Platte Lake boat launch is a few minutes out the drive on Saffron Road. You can also launch at nearby Platte Point to access Lake Michigan. Launch one of our two kayaks, directly from our 100 feet of private shore line.

With 2 beds and a queen sleeper sofa, there are a variety of sleeping options. If you like to cook, a gas range and charcoal barbecue are available for your use. You can also try your open fire cooking skills over a bonfire near the lake. The kitchen is well equipped, however we don’t have a microwave at this time.

If you want to unplug during your time away, we keep a variety of board games and books in the cupboards. The spacious yard is great for outdoor games.

Please note that we strive to use environmentally friendly cleaning products and encourage our guests to do the same in order to preserve our lakeside habitat.

Enjoy swimming from the beach or soak in the sun on the dock. The water in front of the property is shallow and perfect for the kids, or those who want to "ease their way in". A picnic table is available just off the deck for outdoor meals, and there are lots of games and movies for evening or rainy weather fun. TV, DVD player, wifi, and bluetooth speaker available for electronic entertainment.

Cottage Pisces is located on Platte Lake with 2 bedrooms and one bath with room for 6. One minute walk to private resort beach. Close to kayaking, shopping, restaurants and minutes from Lake Michigan and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake-shore. 30 minutes from Traverse City, 18 minutes from Crystal Mountain, 15 minutes from Frankfort. So much to do and see for the whole family! Close to everything, but far from ordinary.

Just a bit up the road is the trading post (walking distance) where you can find some snacks but also make arrangements for tubing or kayaking down the Platte River. The cottage is about 20 min from Frankfort, which has a lovely downtown and views of Lake Michigan and the lighthouse. Betsie Point is a similar distance and also had a beautiful light house. If you have little ones, there is an Alpaca farm not more than 20 minutes as well as Glen Frostic’s studio, which is worth a visit. We highly recommend cottage Pisces and are hopeful to return again soon!"

Welcome to Sandbar Shores on Big Platte Lake. This micro-resort is comprised of three cottages with direct beachfront access and enjoyment of Big Platte Lake. Big Platte Lake is nestled in the heart of the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and is shallow, warm and sandy.

The Roadhouse Cottage is steps away from the lake and offers lovely views. This two bedroom cottage is furnished with a twin/full bunk, a master bedroom consisting of a queen bed and a living room with a large sectional sofa. This cottage can accommodate five people. There is a fully functional kitchen and one bathroom.

Each cottage is outfitted with a/c, heat, WiFi, Roku televisions, gas grills, linens, towels, pillows, and personal fire pits. The sandy beach lakefront is a shared area between all of the cottages so we request that visitors are limited and courtesy be given to the other quests while enjoying the amenities.

There is working laundry facilities on the premises that is located in the basement of the Main House. Guests from all three cottages have access to the laundry facilities. There are also 2 mooring buoys.

Whether you're looking to explore the dunes, waterways, hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, tour the wineries of M-22, or just admire the northern Michigan sunsets and scenery our cottages will not disappoint.

There are all kinds of hiking trails in the area and outdoor activities of all kinds are very popular. The area truly provides for a great vacation getaway!

We are between countless northwest Michigan attractions like the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, Lake Michigan, Frankfort, Traverse City, Leland (fish town), Crystal Mountain Golf and Ski, Cherry Bowl Drive In Theater, Platte River, Betsie River, etc.

While staying here, you will find that you have all of your basic needs met and more. As you walk in, you are met with room to put all of your coats, shoes, and bags. This will also be the area you will find your washing and drying machine so you can conveniently wash those items that you use while exploring the beautiful nature of our area. You will then walk into your full kitchen and living spaces. We provide you with all of the kitchen utensils to cook, eat, drink and be merry. There is a small dining table with chairs (extra chairs are in the master closet) that serves as both a place to eat and work. The living room is perfect for lounging on the queen size sofa bed, either taking in the sunlight from the windows or watching your favorite streaming service on our smart TV (Spectrum cable channels available too). The spacious master room has a king size bed and walk in closet. Bedroom two has a double and twin sized bed with a large closet.

- "This property is phenomenal. Not sure if it was recently renovated, but the interior is set up perfectly and is super comfortable. The separate guest cabin is actually a really nice feature. Probably not the best set up for a young family, but it’s perfect for 3 or 4 adults. The only thing that would’ve made this better is if there was one more room. But that’s not a knock against the property at all. The walkout beach is super nice. If Ironman Michigan 70.3 comes back this is probably top of our list. "

Crystal View Lakeside is a newly remodeled apartment just steps to beautiful Crystal lake. The provides an open floor plan which sleeps up to 6 guests. The home includes a foyer, living room, dining area, kitchen, large bedroom and a full bathroom. The café deck and the gazebo patio offer outdoor space to unwind after a day at the beach or BBQ on the grill.

The vaulted kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, a large refrigerator with icemaker, a glass pantry, island, dishwasher and garbage disposal. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishware, glasses, pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster and kitchen linens. The dining area seats 4 at a trestle table. The living room has seating for six which includes a queen sofa sleeper, a 55-inch TV with cable and a closet. The bathroom includes a bathtub with upgraded shower fixtures and a marble top vanity.

Crystal Lake Ridge is a year-round 30-day extended stay rental above beautiful Crystal Lake in the Village of Benzonia. Adorned with an artistic and eclectic collection of both local treasures and those from afar, Crystal Lake Ridge is best suited for adults and older kids. The property boasts amenities such as one-level living, an attached garage, lower-raising beds, and a chef's kitchen. There are also fabulous community perks like tennis courts, an outdoor pool with lounge chairs and shaded seating, and a quiet no-through traffic residential neighborhood!!

Inside Crystal Lake Ridge, you will be greeted by vaulted ceilings, bright windows, and an easy-flowing open floor plan. The living room is comfortable and cozy with a wood-burning stove, big screen smart tv, stereo, DVD/VHS player, and local cable channels. The dining room features ample seating and walks out to one of two ground-level decks.

The kitchen comes equipped with almost every cooking utensil or appliance imaginable! There are plenty of pots, pans, crocks, and serving dishes, plus the outdoor charcoal grill and smoker making it ideal for guests that like to stay in and cook. Guests will also enjoy the large desk with a monitor, two printers, and plenty of office supplies available for their use in the library.

The large primary bedroom features a full-size dresser, wall-mounted tv, queen bed, huge walk-in closet, and a spacious ensuite bathroom. Bedroom number two also has a large closet and is adjacent to the common-use three-quarter bathroom. This property features self-check-in. Check-in is permitted between 4:00 pm -10:00 pm. Guest are responsible for having their check-in instruction before arrival. CHECK OUT INSTRUCTIONS:
•November-April: Set the heat/thermostat to 55 degrees and close the blinds.
•May-October: Shut off everything and close the blinds.
•Strip beds (not mattress pads) and pile all sheets and towels on the floor near the washer. Start a load of towels in the washer. (If applicable.)
•If you used more than 2 shower towels, hand towels, or washcloths per person we ask that you wash, dry, and put the excess away before checking out. (If applicable.)
•Dispose of all food. No food or beverages are to be left inside the property.
•Put all trash in the garbage bin. Trash instructions are noted in your Guest Guide Link. Please take the trash to the road if your stay falls on or within 48 hours of trash day.

- "The condo was nicely furnished and in a pleasant area, close to Crystal Lake and Lake Michigan. This condo had no lake views or lake access. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking. The neighborhood was quiet. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning and/or ceiling fans. This August there were 15 days with temperatures in the 80s, so it was a bit warm in the late afternoons and evenings."

We have three rental cottages, each with it’s own VRBO page, so please check the calendars for each unit for availability. We also have two family cottages on the property.

Big Platte Lake, a 2500 acre all-sports lake, is ideal for swimming boating and fishing. Our private, sandy beach is an ideal water-playground for children because of an extensive shallow area, perfect for frolicking, wading, and floating. In the deeper water farther out there is a raft for swimming. Use any of our 4 kayaks, 5 canoes or the rowboat that comes with your cottage and go kayaking, canoeing, or fishing for walleye, bass, northern pike and pan fish. Bring your own equipment and go sailing, water-skiing, windsurfing or jet-skiing. We have three moorings for larger boats offshore and plenty of space at the dock for smaller craft (16’ or less.)

Our resort is in a wooded area, adjacent to the awesome Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with its world-famous 'Dune Climb' and Pierce-Stocking Scenic Drive. The white sand beaches of Lake Michigan, where you can swim, walk the shoreline or hunt Petoskey stones, are just 10 minutes away. We are open year-round for summer vacations, fall hunting and fishing, winter skiing and snowmobiling and morel mushroom hunting in the spring.

The area boasts many quaint lakeside towns with wineries, shopping, arts & antiquing, dining, etc. The area offers arts and music at Interlochen Arts Academy, winery tours, golfing, casinos and sightseeing. You can take the family to a drive-in movie theater for family oriented movies at the Cherry Bowl. Tour the lighthouse at Point Betsie. The nearby village of Honor features restaurants, a grocery store, bank, post office, gas station, and video rentals. the Trading Post, which has a deli, pizza & ice cream, as well as bait & tackle, is a short walk from our cottages.

We are only 15 miles from Empire (antiques, beaches, hiking trails) 15 miles to Frankfort (charter fishing, glider rides, shops and restaurants, and 4th of July fireworks) 20 miles to Glen Arbor (galleries, cute shops, restaurants) 15 miles to Crystal Mountain Resort (golf, Michigan Legacy Art Park, #1-rated ski resort in the Midwest) 18 miles to Interlochen (concerts, theater, exhibits, arts camp, arts academy) 25 miles to Traverse City (airport, more restaurants, casinos and shopping at outlet and other malls and of course the National Cherry Festival) 30 miles to Arcadia Bluffs (#1-rated Golf Course in Michigan according to Golf Magazine).
