Part of Chimney Corners Resort on Crystal Lake! This apartment is located directly across M22 from the lake. All units at Chimney Corners include shared access to our 300+ feet of private beachfront. Completely remodeled in 2020, this apartment features a living room with a view. Gas fireplace, dinette and a small kitchenette. A queen bed is semi-separated from the living area and a twin-size bunk bed is tucked into the back bedroom. It also features wall-mounted air conditioning. This unit is part of five apartments together that share a deck and parking area. Sorry, no dogs allowed.

The Brown Bear Cabin is PURE NORTHERN MICHIGAN! It has a charming and traditional rustic style, but is also very comfortable. The cabin has been updated with modern amenities including high-speed Wi-Fi and streaming television with Roku. The cabin is part of Twin Birch Resort and it includes use of your own private kayak and rowboat for exploring the lake, which is great for both kayaking and fishing! It also includes use of the resort's dock and community fire pit.

NEIGHBORHOOD:

The property is in a quiet neighborhood of lakefront homes and resorts, with Big Platte Lake on one side of the road and Little Platte Lake on the other side of the road. Boating, kayaking, and fishing are very popular on both lakes. Peterson Beach on Lake Michigan is also only 4.6 miles from the resort!

Outside of the immediate area, the property is close to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Lake Michigan, Crystal Lake, Traverse City, and a lot of cute little beach towns in the area like Beulah, Frankfort, Empire, and Glen Arbor. There are all kinds of hiking trails in the area and outdoor activities of all kinds are very popular. The area truly provides for a great vacation getaway!

Note that the cabin is open year-round and it's warm and cozy in the winter! There are also a lot of activities in the area during the winter. Cross-country and downhill skiing are popular in the area and the cabin is just 16 miles from Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville, which has both downhill and cross-country skiing as well as ice skating. Both cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are available at nearby Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Sleeping Bear Dunes is also great for winter hiking.

Ice fishing is popular in the area as well and Little Platte Lake, Big Platte Lake, and nearby Crystal Lake are all good spots for ice fishing. Snowmobiling is also popular and there are snowmobiling trails nearby in the Thompsonville area. Several communities in the area also have Christmas festivities and winter carnivals and/or parades.

(1) Due to seasonal weather constraints, all outdoor amenities (including the firepit, dock, boats, etc.) are only guaranteed in terms of availability from June 1 through Sept. 30.
(2) Cable-equivalent television stations are provided via Spectrum's streaming app.
(3) Guests are welcome to bring their own motors or rent one for use with the row boats. Crystal Lake Marina in Honor and Beulah rent boat motors. Motors should be 10 Horsepower or less and must be short shaft because Little Platte Lake is VERY shallow.
(4) Fans are provided, but the cabin does NOT have air conditioning.
(5) Peterson Beach on Lake Michigan is only 4.6 miles from the resort!

The owner was above and beyond with any accommodations we needed . The rowboat with motor was small but great for little boat rides in the evening with the family you could fish as well ! Kids loved kayaking it was a nice quiet area not too congested at all . The neighborhood was perfect for morning runs or biking or evening walks not a lot of traffic going up and down the road . This house felt pretty spacious and had a nice fire pit outside to enjoy evening fires and a gas grill for bbqing . Everything looked to be recently done nice flooring showers/tubs vanity and kitchen was nicer than my one at home with newer appliances and fully stocked had about everything you could possibly need even a crockpot! Would 100% stay again and recommend to a family of 5-6 to stay here ."

- "This property is phenomenal. Not sure if it was recently renovated, but the interior is set up perfectly and is super comfortable. The separate guest cabin is actually a really nice feature. Probably not the best set up for a young family, but it’s perfect for 3 or 4 adults. The only thing that would’ve made this better is if there was one more room. But that’s not a knock against the property at all. The walkout beach is super nice. If Ironman Michigan 70.3 comes back this is probably top of our list. "

Inside Crystal Lake Ridge, you will be greeted by vaulted ceilings, bright windows, and an easy-flowing open floor plan. The living room is comfortable and cozy with a wood-burning stove, big screen smart tv, stereo, DVD/VHS player, and local cable channels. The dining room features ample seating and walks out to one of two ground-level decks.

The kitchen comes equipped with almost every cooking utensil or appliance imaginable! There are plenty of pots, pans, crocks, and serving dishes, plus the outdoor charcoal grill and smoker making it ideal for guests that like to stay in and cook. Guests will also enjoy the large desk with a monitor, two printers, and plenty of office supplies available for their use in the library.

The large primary bedroom features a full-size dresser, wall-mounted tv, queen bed, huge walk-in closet, and a spacious ensuite bathroom. Bedroom number two also has a large closet and is adjacent to the common-use three-quarter bathroom. - "The condo was nicely furnished and in a pleasant area, close to Crystal Lake and Lake Michigan. This condo had no lake views or lake access. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking. The neighborhood was quiet. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning and/or ceiling fans. This August there were 15 days with temperatures in the 80s, so it was a bit warm in the late afternoons and evenings."

Big Platte Lake, a 2500 acre all-sports lake, is ideal for swimming boating and fishing. Our private, sandy beach is an ideal water-playground for children because of an extensive shallow area, perfect for frolicking, wading, and floating. Use any of our 4 kayaks, 5 canoes or the rowboat that comes with your cottage and go kayaking, canoeing, or fishing for walleye, bass, northern pike and pan fish. Bring your own equipment and go sailing, water-skiing, windsurfing or jet-skiing. We have three moorings for larger boats offshore and plenty of space at the dock for smaller craft (16’ or less.)

We have access to Little Platte Lake, a scenic 805-acre lake with quiet, natural beauty, eagles, loons, beaver and great fishing for bass and pan fish. The lakes are connected by the Dead Stream and Platte River, which offer excellent canoeing/kayaking and fishing.

Our resort is in a wooded area, adjacent to the awesome Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with its world-famous 'Dune Climb' and Pierce-Stocking Scenic Drive. The white sand beaches of Lake Michigan, where you can swim, walk the shoreline or hunt Petoskey stones, are just 10 minutes away. We are open year-round for summer vacations, fall hunting and fishing, winter skiing and snowmobiling and morel mushroom hunting in the spring.

The area boasts many quaint lakeside towns with wineries, shopping, arts & antiquing, dining, etc. The area offers arts and music at Interlochen Arts Academy, winery tours, golfing, casinos and sightseeing. You can take the family to a drive-in movie theater for family oriented movies at the Cherry Bowl. Tour the lighthouse at Point Betsie. The nearby village of Honor features restaurants, a grocery store, bank, post office, gas station, and video rentals. the Trading Post, which has a deli, pizza & ice cream, as well as bait & tackle, is a short walk from our cottages.

We are only 15 miles from Empire (antiques, beaches, hiking trails) 15 miles to Frankfort (charter fishing, glider rides, shops and restaurants, and 4th of July fireworks) 20 miles to Glen Arbor (galleries, cute shops, restaurants) 15 miles to Crystal Mountain Resort (golf, Michigan Legacy Art Park, #1-rated ski resort in the Midwest) 18 miles to Interlochen (concerts, theater, exhibits, arts camp, arts academy) 25 miles to Traverse City (airport, more restaurants, casinos and shopping at outlet and other malls and of course the National Cherry Festival) 30 miles to Arcadia Bluffs (#1-rated Golf Course in Michigan according to Golf Magazine). This is s charming and classic 33-foot 1993 Airstream situated on our semi-retired organic farm. We’re surrounded by the 70,000 acre Sleeping Bear Dunes. There’s plenty of skiing, canoeing, hiking and fishing, peace and quiet. We're on the boarder of Benzie and Leelanau Counties
It's best for two adults or can accommodate a couple kids on the pull-out conversion couch.
It does have an awning for shade and fans, but no AC. We are a no smoking, no pets accommodation.

The space
The space is a vintage Airstream. It has a functioning toilet, shower, gas range and refrigerator/freezer. It's well stocked with pots and pans for cooking and basic lawn furniture under the awning. There's a firepit with a grate for outdoor cooking as well. Please note, despite all the creature comforts, this is camping. Don't forget to pack your sense of adventure.

Guest access
You need to park in the meadow behind the house. From there you need to walk about just 20 yards to the camper. We provide a wagon for hauling your things. It's level and mostly grass covered.
When you pull out back, just as you enter the meadow you'll see the camper. There is parking on your immediate right with a sign that says "Silver Bullet."

Other things to note
Our buildings are made from recycled materials and native Michigan wood. They are unique and we are happy to provide tours with some advance notice. The solar system power the camper and our houses on the farm.

Beautiful room in friendly household on S. shore of Crystal Lake. Enjoy this beautiful lake & area. Must love dogs (very friendly). The space
There is a master bedroom with a queen bed, work desk, and closet. The second bedroom has a full standalone bed with an additional bunk bed with a full bottom and twin top. This room could sleep 5 however kids under 100lbs are only permitted on the top bunk due to weight restrictions. This room also has a dresser and closet. The closet contains the pack and play and toddler cot with crib bedding.

*Please note that use of bunk beds in general may cause a safety concern so use at your own risk. By booking with us guests agree to assume all responsibility.

Lake Michigan Esch Beach access is located just a few miles away (5 min drive) and can be reached by turning left onto Indian Hill Road from our driveway and continuing directly until you reach Esch Beach Parking. This is public beach access. Pets, alcohol, and fires are allowed but please read the signs upon arrival.

**2024 Shared Property Update*** We are very happy to announce the addition of our first tiny home (The Stargazer) to the property. This unit is located about 500 feet from the main house down a private road in a secluded, wooded area. Please note that the private road and back wooden acres are shared access for guests of both homes. Guests of Hillside Haven may see other guest's vehicles traveling up and down the private road during your stay so please be advised. Furthermore, the fenced in front yard, yard areas next to the driveway, and area next to the garage are reserved for guests of Hillside Haven only.

Be prepared to go slowly down the big hill as the house is nestled right in the middle of the hill. There is a shared entrance that has a split driveway. Our house is the one north or to the right with the large fenced in yard. You'll notice a private road called Carlisle Way just past our yard and driveway. Please avoid driving on this road during your stay as it is reserved for another home. Once parked in the driveway you're welcome to explore (on foot) the back 10 acres which is accessible via Carlisle Way.

Explore 1/3 miles of well kept trails through a portion of our wooded area. The trails start at the end of Carlisle Way and are available to all guests.

The main home has a walkout lower level that we have converted into an apartment. The apartment has a private entrance with push button code off of the deck. The apartment is separated from the main house by a heavy duty locked door to ensure your privacy. It is quiet and peaceful. The property has room for all your toys and an area to charge your ebikes, if needed.
