A new, front load, washer and dryer are located in laundry room on main floor.

There is a covered porch on the front of the house, with 3 adirondack chairs and a coffee table, for relaxing or bird watching in the woods, surrounding the house. Also on the extended deck, are 6 comfortable chairs with cushions and tables, around an outdoor gas fire pit. Additionally, a regular fire pit is located in the backyard, with PLENTY of firewood provided.

Our retreat is located on 120 acres of beautiful wooded land in Leelanau county. To arrive you drive on a well maintained two track through a lovely woods. When you step out of your car, you truly understand the notion of 'getting away.'

House is a 1200 sq ft timber frame,mortice and tenon frame, with stress skin panels. Custom made cabinets. House is a simple yet elegant design.

The kitchen is nicely equipped, with a nice collection of cook books. Also a nice collection of reading books. A good place for quiet contemplation.

We are located 9 miles to Empire Beach, and 18 miles from Traverse City.

The property is located within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, close to hiking trails and beaches. Empire beach, only two miles from the property, was named one of the top 21 beaches in the world. The Village of Empire is just a couple of miles up M-22 and includes restaurants, coffee and shopping. Enjoy open views by sitting on the front porch or by the campfire (firewood included) and all that Leelanau County has to offer— dune bluffs, rivers for kayaking, and amazing views of Lake Michigan.

The house features one master bedroom (queen) and an open loft upstairs with three beds (2 twin and 1 full size). There is a full size kitchen (cookware included), living room, and one full bathroom. Vacation at the beach in this two bedroom, two bathroom 1900 sq. ft. house / cottage that partially overlooks Lake Michigan and South Bar Lake. Walk the tree lined sidewalk 600 ft to the Lake Michigan shore and play on the sand beach. Lake Michigan water level fluctuates every year. Visit Empire Michigan webcam for current lake conditions. There is extensive playground equipment at the beach. The Village of Empire which is seven miles south of Glen Arbor is home to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park Visitor Center. The Sleeping Bear Heritage Bike Trail winds through the woods and is paved from Empire to the 'Dune Climb' and continues into Glen Arbor. The trail has been extended north along M-22 to Bohemian Road.

Stonegable is a modern farmhouse nestled among pines and 150 acres of walking trails located just outside of Empire Village (2 miles) right in the middle of Leelanau farm country. You'll find yourself surrounded by cherry and apple orchards, hops farms and fields of sweet smelling hay. Fresh eggs can be purchased just down the driveway.
Stonegable has a new generator (2023) for storms. Runs everything but stove and microwave ( grill on site) . So you will have water, lights, hot water heater for showers, refrigerator. and heat in the event of a storm that results in a loss of power. Very few rental properties in Empire or northern Michigan have a generator back up plan which can save a vacation.

The home sports a gallery of original oil paintings of the property by a local artist which are all available for purchase. It’s a perfect property for a couples retreat , artists, writers, photographers,conservationists, bird watchers, nature lovers,and astronomers.

A Northern Getaway is a new house, decorated in a fresh decor! This house is well equipped and features a full kitchen and a dining table that seats four and a relaxing living room. The house is best suited for 4 adults or 2 adults with 2 children 15 or older as the house has no extra space to play or watch TV.

The beach is in walking distance (about a mile+) and the park headquarters are also nearby. The house has a deck with patio seating and a view into the nearby meadow.
Empire is in the center of it all- visit wineries, go kayaking, hiking or biking, enjoy the many beaches, go shopping in the many quaint villages nearby or take road trips through Leelanau County, Old Mission Peninsula or south of Empire (Frankfort, Point Betsie).
The house is accessed by stairs from the parking spot, there is a staircase in the house as well. Trailers of any kind can not be accommodated at the property.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.
