- "Overall we would give the place a 5, but there are some things that might be helpful for people to know. 1. The first picture shown is of the water and sand. I assumed that was a view from the house which is incorrect. The house is close to the water, but not steps. More like down the block and across the street. 2. The owners do live in the house during times it is not rented. Their personal belongings are around the house. Not a big deal, but some people might be uncomfortable with this. 3. The little garage behind the house appears to be shared with the neighbors, so we had neighbors in the yard a couple of different days. The neighbors are friendly and stayed out of the way. We met with our kids from all over the midwest and south and the place accommodated us all nicely. We love to cook though and would recommend bringing a large frying pan, but everything else was available!"

- "We thoroughly enjoyed and adored this house and our entire stay! We had our coffee and relaxed in the newer, well kept hot tub every morning and were pleasantly surprised with the wildlife we saw which included turkey, deer, crow, bird, and chipmunk. Each night after a day of exploring we relaxed in the hot tub and cuddled around the fire. The hosts provided everything necessary as well as s’more supplies, wood, starter, etc. The bed was also very comfortable and the house was clean. The only thing I would have liked to see were bug zappers as the mosquitos/midges/gnats got in the house when going out to the hot tub at night. Highly recommend this stay!"

- "This was our 2nd time staying at Phil's property. He is amazing to work with and prides himself on happy visitors. We caught some nice perch, off the dock and out of the kayaks. It's always a pleasant surprise to find locations that allow dogs, and yet are still clean! All of us with furry family members appreciate the decent place to stay with our WHOLE family. The only downfall is the bed, which of course it's a personal preference, but neither of us found it comfortable at all. There are basic seasonings and dishware, which makes cooking or grilling quite convenient. If you are looking for a nice place, off the beaten path, but yet not far from a town we definitely suggest renting one of the red bridge rentals!"

No outside electricity, but close enough to house to run extension cords from internal outlets." - "We had a good stay here and would happily book it again. It was unusually hot while we were there and there is not A/C (which isn’t unusual for the area) so we were hot! The shower is also really tricky/confusing. The U.P. really is a year-round playground. Winter offers skiing at our cute little town ski hill, ice fishing, snowmobiling - and just about any other winter activity you can think of (our favorite is hot drinks by the fire).
Spring and Summer bring glorious weather and swimming, sailing, fishing, boating, biking and again, almost any other favorite summer activity you enjoy (enjoying a cold beverage on the patio - here, here).
Fall is breathtakingly beautiful with the air getting crisp and the leaves changing color and the best leaf peeping around.
Downtown Gladstone is just a few blocks away, with restaurants, grocery and hardware stores, medical and dental offices, bike and kayak rentals and fishing tackle shops close by.
In Summer Gladstone opens a farmers market with a variety of local vendors - (if he's there, you'll get a chance to buy the best sourdough bread ever baked). Visit Northern Sun Winery in Bark River - awesome. Summer concert series in the evenings at Van Cleve Park; mingle with the locals at Friday night fish frys and steak dinners at the American Legion - just too many things to list, and I'm exhausted trying to think of them all.
There's pretty much something for everyone here in the U.P., and we hope you'll let us host your stay.

Other things to note
The U.P. really is a year-round playground.
