At the bay:
Private southern facing sandy beach on West Grand traverse Bay with views of Power Island and distant views of Traverse City lights. Watch the sunrise over Old Mission Peninsula from the waters edge. Charcoal and lighter fluid are ready at the deck to BBQ on the grill. Firewood is stacked at the beach to enjoy a camp fire in the evening.
During the peak summer season, paddle along Cherry Cove on one of the kayaks or stand up paddle boards. Sit out on the beach deck or at the end of the dock or around the fire pit at night.

Main house:
Large family room centers around the natural gas fireplace with a smart TV and internet service (no cable). Linens are provided with washer and dryer. Main bedroom has a King bed and private sun room over looking a crystal clear stream. 2nd bedroom has 2 Queen beds. The kitchen / dinning area is equipped with all essentials.

Quiet peaceful cottage community. The road is nice for a walk or bike ride. The beach is across Lee Point Road . The property is 15 min to Traverse City and 5 min to Suttons Bay.

This guest house is at the center of our 30 acre Gentlemen's ranch, one mile south of Suttons Bay and 1/2 mile from the Bay. The address for our location is 1624 South West Bayshore Drive (which is M-22), Suttons Bay While there is not a water view unless you are on top one of our hills, the setting is an idyllic location with panoramic valley and hill views. This house has a warm natural all wood interior with beautiful artwork, yet all the modern amenities such as wifi and satellite TV with multiple movie channels.
The grounds are professionally landscaped and maintained by the Landscape Architect owner.
There is a large open area that includes a wrap-around leather couch and a loft with two beds along with a separate bedroom with a queen-size bed with an exceptional quality mattress. It is important to note that the only access to the loft is a straight up and down ladder. Because of this if you have kids younger than five or adults older than 40 or so (depending how spry you feel) the loft is probably not for you.
There is plenty of room to park any toys (campers, boats, trailers) right on the property. The owners have a 26 foot motorboat and other water toys, so arrangements could be made for their use. If there is a need to stall your horses, or if you want to ride a horse or two, those arrangements can be made as well.
On the property is a large barn, a small barn (both for horses) along with indoor and outdoor riding arenas. Attached to the indoor riding arena is a viewing area with a pool table, bathroom and laundry.
At night, there is a firepit area to warm up on the cold Northern Michigan nights and we are far enough away from any city so that the panoramic star views are incredible.
We are only 1/2 mile away from the Suttons Bay to Traverse City trail and you could ride bikes/horses snowshoe/hike/cross-country ski in any direction from here and see wonderful water vistas and orchard/hill/valley views.
We are 30 minutes away from the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and the Homestead Resort that has skiing with hills that border on Lake Michigan.

On Belanger Pond is a charming cottage in a storybook-like setting. This property is located north of Suttons Bay and is next to a large pond. It sleeps six people and has 2-bedrooms and 1-bathroom.

There is a bedroom on the main floor, and the upper bedroom is in the loft. The cozy living room is off the kitchen and a large enclosed porch faces south over the pond. Mornings are beautiful on the porch with birdsong and a cool breeze.

This property is a photographer's dream. It is a magical spot with gorgeous landscaping and a serene setting. Enjoy a fire in the provided fire pit. There is a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking on a splendid summer evening.

This is a rustic cabin, original to the heart of Suttons bay, within one block of the marina, sand beach and public park/playground area .
The cabin is mid-century craftsman style with an open living room and kitchen floor plan - hardwood floors, knotty pine walls, and log beamed vaulted ceilings. It has 2 Bedrooms; one with a queen bed and the second has a full size bed. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is one full bath with tub shower combo. There is a flat screen TV in the living room with cable and WIFI included. Linens and paper products are also included. There are screens on several of the windows as well as window air conditioning. The outdoor deck includes a small charcoal grill, patio furniture and umbrella; a perfect place to relax with a glass of local wine from one of the many nearby wineries.

STAY IN THE HEART OF THE VILLAGE at HALF MOON CABIN! 2 Bedroom 1 Bath open floor plan overlooking the Village of Suttons Bay; walking distance to the beach (1 block), restaurants, shopping and recreation (tennis and bike trails). Amenities include WiFi and cable tv. Two bedrooms: one with Queen bed, one with twin beds. One bath with tub/shower combination. Updated fully equipped kitchen. Half Moon cabin has access to the coin laundry area in the building also. This unit is next door to The Loft #2227882 which is in the same building and next door to Cabin in the Village #2227776, take them all to accommodate a large group. This apartment has sleeping for 4 but we will allow up to 6 guests in here upon approval. Guests will need to bring an airbed to accommodate the 5th and 6th guests. Walk out your door and down the steps and you are on the sidewalks of downtown Suttons Bay, excellent shopping and restaurants just steps away. Movie theater and ice cream right there too! Guests love to walk down to the Suttons Bay Marina and rent kayaks or bikes. Tart trail (paved bike trail over 30 miles worth) is right there for you. Gorgeous sand beach with playground and all pet friendly.

This fully furnished newly remodeled cottage with large windows for your unobstructed greater than 180 degree panoramic water views. For even better views we recently installed all glass railings on the deck. Other recent upgrades include new deck furniture and full house air conditioning. You are only 50 feet from the water (10 steps down). Every room has a view of the water. The kitchen is open to the living room which allows exceptional views as well.

The cottage is immaculate. Located on peaceful Stony Point just 3 miles to the village of Suttons Bay, the WCC offers the tranquility of Leelanau County while being close to all the best activities. Inside the house, you'll appreciate quality furnishings, hardwood floors throughout, all new appliances, charming architectural details, two fully updated bathrooms, and two spacious and comfortable bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen plus bunks). Enjoy meals and together time in the open living/kitchen/dining area that centers the home, with multiple seating areas for dining, relaxing, and your favorite games. Provided for your comfort are white noise machines, room darkening blinds, all bedroom linens, bath and beach towels, a smart TV, Sonos speaker, and well appointed kitchen.

Location wise, the Watercolor Cottage is truly unique and offers something for everyone. Step out the front door and walk 3 minutes to the right (East) to find the Vic Steimel Waterfront Park, ideal for rock hunting and a cup of coffee as you catch the sunrise. It's also the perfect spot for morning, smooth water SUP rides. In the opposite direction out the front door, another easy 3 minute walk to the public sandy shore of Suttons Bay for an afternoon or evening swim. The Caribbean blue water and sunsets do not disappoint! We're happy to share a garage full of water floats, sand toys, kayaks and life preservers as well.

When you're ready to get out and explore, some of Leelanau County's best vineyards are within a 15 minute drive, not to mention 7 minutes to Hop Lot, 20 mins to Farm Club, and 25 mins into Traverse City. The nearby Village of Suttons Bay is a vibrant, creative community offering convenient and quality groceries at Hansen Foods, unique local shops, restaurants, bayside parks, a theater, bike and boat rental, trailheads, and much more. We'll be happy to provide recommendations to the best of what Leelanau County has to offer if you desire them.

The WCC is on a peaceful side road, with large yard space and mature trees perfect for hammock lounging. One hammock provided, bring more if you wish! The rear patio offers a large dining table, Weber grill, and outdoor lounge area. Facing west and with beautiful sunset views is the fire pit. Cornhole boards, croquet set, and other yard games can be found in the garage.

We love our neighbors at The Watercolor Cottage, and the serenity that everyone who comes here experiences. Travel Advisory: Local Road Construction
Please note that there is ongoing road construction on Grandview Parkway between Division Street and Cherry Bend Road, which may result in slightly longer travel times to and from downtown Traverse City from your location. This construction does not affect access to the home directly and will not impact your stay at the property. We recommend allowing a few extra minutes for travel during your visit, or seeking an alternative route in Google Maps.

Other Things to Note:
**Please note that during the colder months the cottage is heated through a large vent located in the living room floor. The vent can get extremely hot to the touch and should not be walked on barefoot to avoid the risk of injury.**

For insurance and liability reasons, guests are strictly not permitted to tie any watercraft to the dock under any circumstances.

Dock Update (August 2025):
The giant willow tree in the front yard was struck by lightning and fell on the dock a a few weeks ago. The entire tree had to be removed due a comprised root system. It was an incredibly complex removal given the proximity to the lake, house and septic system. To make it safe for everyone, we have to update this area. There is now a wonderful view and a platform with seating where the walk out to the dock was located. We also added a ladder directly to the water for easy lake access The dock only went one or two sections out in the water so the guests aren’t really having a different experience, except for of course, a better view.

If you’re looking for something more on the rustic side but with the amenities you need, this is the place. Very peaceful and quiet and a perfect place to relax. While there wasn’t a beach, the access to the bay was easy to navigate. A short 25 min drive to downtown TC, or a 2.3 mile walk into downtown Suttons Bay, made this location really great for us. Our only wishes had been a bit more parking and a place for our boat, but this was definitely the best place to unplug and unwind."

Vacation in Leeelanau county. This fun two bedroom rental sleeps five comfortably and has a full kitchen, dining room. and living room. If you are old enough to remember the first Star Wars or a fan of L.O.T.R. you'll love this decor. the unit has a seperate entrance and living space from a down to earth owner who will respect yoiur privacy and expects you to have some fun while on vacation.

Minutes away from the Village of Suttons Bay, public beaches, Hop Lot and other great local eateries and shops. Enjoy Northern Michigan's clear starry nights and beautiful sunsets on a large deck with table, umbrella, chairs and small fire place or sit around a mostly hidden fire pit near the woods. Firewood is provided.

Twin over full size bunk, queen bed and a pullout couch could sleep more people but there is only 1 bathroom. Coffee nook only seats 4 as does the kitchen table. Dining room table seats 8.

There is no air conditioning but opening the front and back doors and/or windows almost always allows a nice breeze.

Surrounded by 15 acres of vacant land makes it easier to enjoy yourselves.

Coffee grounds and a brewer are provided. If you are a coffee connoiseur, bring your own grounds, beans or K cups. Paper goods are provided (Paper plates, bowls plastic silverware & cups.) Towels, washcloths, hand towels and soap are provided

I am a pet owner and I understand that they cause wear and tear on a place. I am also a pet lover so I will allow 2 pets for $30 per night. YOU will still be responsible for any damage to the house. I.E. torn screen door, etc.

New stove, dishwasher, microwave & coffee maker, washer and dryer, refrigerator New 12' slider, carpet & a fresh coat of paint.

Queen pull out couch adds to the number of guests that can sleep comfortably but only 1 bathroom really needs to be considered.

I was a Lord of the Rings fan way before the movies came out & I have always tried to keep the decor fun. A number of puzzles, the suit of armor and exact costume for Darth Vader can be gently enjoyed. I found out that Gandolf's staff is no match for Anduril, Aragorn's sword. Sting and the light sabers of Luke and Anakin can't be appreciated without holding them in your hands.

The small refrigerator in the coffee nook is ideal for cold beverages. The electric fireplace can be on for ambiance or set to heat. 65" TV is nice but most guests don't come to Leelanau county to watch TV. I subscribe to Direct TV, Peacock and Prime.

- "The kitchen was big, new and well stocked with everything you need. Nice deck area with table and chairs and a firepit. Plenty of table room to eat and Darth Vader not really eat much. Owner was very generous with letting people use the memorabilia and we definitely tried to respect that so they will be nice for others in the future. The owner was also very accommodating and let us come a little early since no one was staying there the night before. There is no air conditioning, but the breeze kept it cool enough most of the time. There were a few problems we had while we were there. One was fairly minor, the kitchen sink was not draining very fast. The owner said he would look into it after we left. The second was a little more serious. We had a problem with the bed the first night that made it unusable. The owner fixed the problem while we were out of the house and refunded a part of the amount we paid. He was very apologetic as well. The description says there is a hot tub, but the hot tub on the deck doesn't work. The owner said they use it to cool off in the summer. It wasn't a big deal as we were only 2 miles from the Sutton's Bay beach which was more interesting to us anyway. Overall we really like staying in the place and would definitely consider staying again."

Full bathroom with bath/shower combo, master with Queen size bed , extra bedding, towels, wash clothes, hand towels. Our cozy suite sleeps 4 but is most comfortable with 2 adults, OR 2 adults with child or pet.
This suite is a separate space in a shared house, guests are separate from adjacent unit and do not share or interact within the house, although there is a common wall which could allow voices or other noise to pass thru. **This suite is private but Not sound proof-the house manager lives in other unit. Situated in beautiful Leelanau County, this newly remodeled 27’ Jayco camper has all the amenities (A/C, heat, OnDemand hot water, gas cooktop, oven, shower/tub, gas grill) plus a beautiful view of the bay. This camper is a quaint little space (no bump-outs). A bit rustic and more like ‘glamping’ with all the amenities. It is not a quiet campground setting. There is traffic. The view of the bay and location are what make it desirable.

Travelers love this suite's charm so many guests are repeats.
From here you can easily visit over 30 wineries, and a top-ranked beer garden. A National Park is up M-22. Across the street is the bike trail & a picnic shelter with BBQs, tables, restrooms - if you kayak or rent a party boat it can be launched there. Our village is only 15 minutes from Traverse City and 7 miles from historic Fishtown.

Parallel park in front on the grass, allowing space for 3 cars. Enter under the white arch and open the pink leaded-glass door on your right. Please text me so I know you've arrived. Find the stairs to the left just past the table. Your reserved circus-themed bath is on your left at the bottom of the stairs - it will be lightly maintained during your stay. Your guestroom is upstairs on the left and your key will be in the door. Please routinely close your bath and guest room doors to maintain privacy.

During your stay
I am usually onsite in my attached studio where I reside. I am not intrusive. My formal education in fine art (U-M) and my interest in current events has led me to creating conceptual assemblages and collages which make radical, sometimes bizarre, statements of our times.

Other things to note
Wine tasting is a casual fun affair. Try to be patient with farm trucks since being on the wine trails brings traffic ... your private area of the inn faces the back, sheltered from much street activity and is usually quieter. Your first morning I assemble breakfast trays to jump start their stay with a pretty fruit arrangement, a fresh pastry, possibly eggs and a garnishment. Trays are ready in the dining room by 8:30. Please send a text if you wish to be included and if you have a food restriction. After the first morning you are on your own for breakfasts since you can easily walk to very appealing restaurants from the inn; I have learned that guests on vacation enjoy that experience.

There are over 50 wine and spirits tasting rooms on this peninsula (you can walk to several). A pleasant bayfront park with a small boat launch is right across my intersection and boat rentals will deliver there. A clean, sandy swimming beach is a couple blocks away, down the bike trail. Everything in the village is within a mile, including Hop Lot Beer Garden and a premier family-owned grocery with a great deli, locally grown produce, and Jen's premier wine area.

The Harbor House is direct waterfront overlooking beautiful Suttons Bay. All guest rooms are located on the second level and are accessed by stairs. The Beach Room has a private bath and an outside door with walk out access to a second level balcony (shared with other renters). There are several guest common areas both inside and outside the Suttons Bay Harbor House as well as a large TV in your room for your private use.

A continental breakfast of juice, coffee and pastries is provided daily from 8:00-10:00 am.

The second level has a common area with couches, TV area, view of the bay, refrigerator, microwave, game table, board games and a book shelf with reading materials.

The outside common area amenities for guests include use of the tiki hut, dock and three different sitting areas. Children’s beach toys, 2 kayaks and an outdoor grill are also available.

Guest access to the Beach Room is by using the front door entrance via one flight of stairs. The front door entrance is also used to exit and walk around the house to get to the common areas outside on or near the water.

During your stay
The owners live in the first floor of the house and are available for questions. They would be happy to offer information on the local area.

This place was fantastic!! It has a beautiful view of the water, beach/swimming onsite, super clean, the ability to quickly ( less than 5 min) walk to restaurants/ shops, small details inside of the place that make you feel welcome, comfy beds/ linens, responsive host, near a grocery store, close to wineries and orchards, and the ability to sleep our family comfortability. This place literally does have it all.
The host lives on the bottom floor which we were uncertain about at first, but ended up being a positive for fast communication and local tips. They were accessible but still respected privacy.
Our family had a tremendous time and will definitely be back.

We had the good fortune of staying at Harbor House for an intimate family wedding last week. The house itself is stunning, inside and out! We particularly enjoyed the beautiful landscaping (so many flowers!) all around the house along with the amazing views of Suttons Bay from each of the bedrooms and upper deck, as well as the spacious back patio. The sugar sand beach along with the color and clarity of the water rivals anywhere in the Caribbean.
Gathering around the tiki bar on the patio added fun to our week as we mixed different cocktails and caught up with each other. The back patio is so large that we had plenty of space to hold a wedding ceremony under the pergola, enjoy champagne and cake in another seating area, and dine al fresco in a third location…all by the beautiful water. In addition, we loved to hang out at the table on the dock, surrounded by water and taking in the beauty of Suttons Bay. The whole experience was a little slice of heaven!

The space
The apartment is part of a duplex. The front part is an old farm house and the back airbnb apartment was added more recently. The apartment has a private entry and features kitchen/dining/living room, plus one bedroom with queen size bed and one bath. Cottage style furnishings make this home comfortable and cozy for you to enjoy your stay in Northern Michigan.

Guest access
Our lot is long and narrow. The first part of the drive is shared by a neighbor house, and their drive veers right after crossing the creek. Stay straight and access to the apartment is in the back of the house. There is a large back yard for your enjoyment, including an outdoor table and chairs. There is also a turn around driveway in the back and parking is near the cedar tree. The fenced in front yard is reserved for the other side of the duplex. There is a rustic path off the turn around which leads to Leo Creek Preserve and the Leelanau Trail.

Other things to note
Previous airbnb rentals accessed some of the other side of the house so a few comments may apply to spaces not currently available.

The Garthe Guest House is a two story home with the private guest rooms on the second floor. You will enter the home through the porch on the front of the house. There is a shared kitchen, living room and balcony. Guests are responsible for carrying their own luggage up the single flight of stairs.

While we love animals and have pets of our own, out of consideration for all guests, we can not accommodate reservations with pets.

We provide a light breakfast for guests who book rooms from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Each morning between 7a-8a the host will place items on the table and on the top shelf of the refrigerator for all guests to share. The continental style breakfast items may include: yogurt, granola, seasonal fruit, orange juice, hard boiled eggs, pastries or quick breads/muffins, quiche, breakfast casseroles. Not all items will be available every day. We can not accommodate special dietary needs. The kitchen is stocked with K-cups and tea bags, non-dairy powdered creamer, sugar and artificial sweeteners for your hot beverage.

For guests renting the entire upstairs which includes all three private rooms, breakfast will not be provided.

The space
This suite is on 2nd floor of historic guest cottage (built in 1895). Staircase is quite narrow - if you have trouble with stairs, this may not be a good option.

The room has one Queen bed and attached private bath with stall shower. HD smart TV in bedroom and kitchen; Wi-Fi; A/C & heat; ceiling fans and floor fans.

Kitchen has refrigerator, cooktop (no oven), microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, electric water kettle, dining table; sunny south windows with view of lake.

Staircase is narrow, can be difficult for those with knee problems.

Your entry door is the front door on front porch. This door has keypad code for self-check-in. The door is used in daytime by staff for access to 1st floor laundry room. Guests in 1st floor suite have separate entrance.

Our charming free-standing apartment offers a private entrance with convenient parking in front. We are located in the center of Leelanau County's Wine Country; a birding, cycling and hiking, paradise. We are within close proximity to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park and surrounded by miles of pristine Lake Michigan shoreline. There are abundant restaurants of varied ethnicity and quaint shops in the County and even more just 20 miles south in Traverse City.

Guest access
Everything inside the apartment is for your use and convenience. Should you need anything that is not provided, just ask us. Our home is close by and we are usually home. Feel free to stroll the property and enjoy the gardens. The fire pit and wood is also available for your use should weather permit.

This is a non-smoking facility. And no pets please.
Please note: The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, refrigerator with freezer, double sink, dishes, and miscellaneous utensils. There is no stove or conventional oven.
