- "We loved this little cottage. It was easy to find. Parking was good for cottage #5 (it might be a little tight with larger vehicles at the other cottages). The amenities in the cottage we great. We hope to return again in 2024. " - "Beautiful Gem of the North!" - "Absolutely amazing. No complaints. Everything was clean, worked, easy to understand and beautiful. " - "My family and I had to book The Finch due to a flood in our kitchen. Staying at The Finch was quite perfect. The cottages were clean, stylish and quiet. Laundry machine on site was clutch. Waking up to beautiful sunsets on the water was like a dream. The staff, especially Holly was super responsive and helpful. Although the situation of not being home was terrible, The Finch made up for it :) I would highly recommend and would stay here again in a heartbeat. The Finch is the only place I would rent in North Bay. Hotels don’t even compare. "

Do you love the getaway of a Lake side retreat, but also the conveniences of groceries, LCBO and restaurants without disrupting your vacation with a long drive? Our home combines it all! Our 12 year old True North Log Cabin has full services, nestled between the outskirts of the small town of South River and the peacefulness of Algonquin Park (Round Lake Access Point). Our 4 bedroom home includes a master loft and 3 pull-out couches in 3 separate entertainment areas. Spend your day on the private dock and evenings at the lakeside fire pit. Rainy day? Board games, TV, video games, pool table and wifi have you covered. Feeling the need to explore? Plenty of activities and day trips available in the area. For more details and local amenities, visit https://southrivervacation.ca/
This 2-story cottage with a fully furnished, dry, and newly renovated basement. Basement includes bedroom, new bathroom, laundry room, and games room with pull-out sectional couch and convertible ping pong/pool table. The main floor has 2 bedrooms, an eat-in kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a living room with a pull-out couch. The loft contains a master bedroom with a double jacuzzi and double shower, walk-in dressing room, and an attached den with a futon.
What makes our Forest-Lake cottage (part of the South River waterway) unique is that the opposite shore is nearly entirely crown land, meaning you will not have other cottagers staring back at your, for more peace and quiet. Because the lake has sandbars, motor boats are seldom seen, making it quiet and wake-free for paddling or fishing. The opposite shore, a short paddle away, also has many weedy areas ideal for fish.
We work hard to provide all you need to have the best family vacation ever and have attempted to cover all the bases. We think you will love it because our family loves it! We provide a paddle boat, kayak, SUP and canoe for the enjoyment of the waterfront. Relax in the hammock out back or enjoy a game of bocci ball or ladder toss. Endless board games, books, tv with soundbar, and a small stereo upstairs ensure rainy day entertainment. We are a short walk from the skate park and playground for kids. We are also near frisbee golf and pickleball in the community and provide golf discs and pickleball paddles and balls.
We are a short walk or drive to any amenity you may need on a vacation, including fire wood, groceries, LCBO and Beer store. South River also has many unique expereinces, like The Crystal Caves and Artisan Village or Copperhead Distillery. We strongly encourage you to visit https://www.exploresouthriver.ca/
- "We absolutely loved our time here. The property itself was amazing! Well kept, stunning views and lots to do without having to leave. The host was great, easy to communicate with and seems to have thought of it all. We loved the small touches she added that made the property super charming. The perfect amount of rustic without ever feeling like we were roughing it. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you so much!"

The space
Lake Nosbonsing is truly a stunning lake, perfect for fishing enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful day of relaxation and swimming. On warm days, it's a popular spot for local residents to enjoy fishing, swimming and lake activities, making it a lively and enjoyable place to be.
As the sun sets, there's no better way to unwind than by gathering around a warm campfire, creating wonderful memories with friends and family. The cabin itself is not only clean and cozy but also offers a beautiful view of the lake, providing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets that add to the charm of your stay. It's an idyllic setting for a memorable retreat.

To clarify, the cabin is part of a shared campground, accompanied by 18 other cabins in close proximity. While some public areas are shared among all residents, rest assured that the rental cabin, its yard, fire pit, and dock are exclusively private for you as the individual renter. It’s important to note that the cabin’s location provides partial privacy with neighbouring cabins, and there may be times when you have close-by neighbours.
Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with other guests and their pets while enjoying the communal spaces. The campground offers recreational amenities like a sandy volleyball court and a horseshoe pit in the outdoor common areas, ensuring you have full access to these fun activities during your stay.
Other things to note
In the cabin, I provide sheets, pillows, pillowcases, a bathmat, and a dish towel. However, blankets, bath, and beach towels are not included. I kindly ask guests to bring their own blankets and towels. For added comfort, there are two extra pillows available if needed. Each bed is a double and comes with four standard-sized pillows.

I’m sorry, but this particular cabin has a no-pet policy. I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. However, service animals are always welcome. If you plan to bring a service pet, kindly let me know in advance and provide the necessary service pet documentation. Thank you for your understanding!
Please be aware that the cabin is not wheelchair accessible, as there are stairs leading up to the front door. Once inside, the cabin is all on one floor with no additional steps.
Inside the cabin, there is no Wi-Fi, cable TV, or streaming services available. However, there is a smart HDTV and a DVD player with a small DVD library for guests to enjoy. There is also an HDMI cable if you’d like to bring a laptop or HDMI compatible gaming console.
You can find the fire pit just outside the cabin. If you wish to have a campfire, you can purchase firewood for $20 for one large wheelbarrow load. Pay with cash upon delivery.
Guests staying at the cabin have the option to borrow a pedal boat, canoe or rowboat for complimentary use. To arrange for the use of the pedal boat, please visit me at the blue house at the top of the laneway, as I store it at my personal dock.
There is free parking on the premises for a maximum of 2 vehicles only, and the cabin accommodates a maximum of 4 people only. Please respect these limitations as there isn’t enough space for extra people or vehicles. Exceeding these limitations can strain the septic tank and lead to unpleasant odors. If caught bringing extra people or vehicles without informing me, guests will be subject to extra person/vehicle fees, and those exceeding occupancy limits will be asked to leave immediately.
For your safety, I recommend bringing your own bottled drinking water. The cabin’s water is pumped directly from the lake and is filtered but not suitable for human consumption.

"I will really miss this beautiful piece of Paradise!" "I love the cottage so much. It is so sweet and makes me happy every day!" And there you have it! A guest put into words the special quality of a traditional, time-tested family summer cottage. Imagine exploring the forest along a lengthy private road and hidden trails while only 15 minutes from North Bay and minutes away from major highways 11 and 17. Perhaps it is work or school that brought you to this area! Maybe you reminisced with family and friends who once spent summers at "the lake". Cottagers have arrived without specific plans other than to relax. Retirees appreciate the ease of accessibility both within the cottage and to the lakefront. Longer stays have allowed them to invite a special family member to visit. Trout Lake, a spring-fed lake, is a popular lake for swimming and kayaking (BYOK). A few have tried out the onsite canoe and rowboat. Summer contract workers are pleased to find a home away from home. Municipal bylaws are in place to quash nuisance parties. Mature helpful individuals are always welcome. Landlord is next door! Professionally cleaned.
