The houses, built with modern lines, but with the use of local stone both outside and inside, are designed to take advantage of the great location.

Located in the lovely, peaceful, patrimonial area of Baia do Canto our adega is ideal for relaxing and enjoying the sounds of the ocean, the birds and nature in all her glory! As you look across the channel to the beautiful Sao Jorge you may even see dolphins and the occasional whale spouting. Enjoy your coffee or meal on the balcony or the veranda and watch the local tuna or lobster boats as they go about their age old fishing tradition. You can even buy a fish in the village if you meet the incoming boat and bring it back to grill at the outdoor furno/grilling area in the lower courtyard. Our adega was restored using traditional materials and style and your comfort is assured with the many amenities provided. We are artists and the house has many pieces of our work including the owner/artist's use of drift wood and old wine barrels in some of the furniture and furnishings and other touches found through out the adega. There is swimming, diving, fishing, hiking, bakeries and restaurants with some within walking distance if you prefer. We have an organic vegetable garden and fig trees available for your use when in season. If you prefer one bed we will put the twin beds together making a king size for your comfort. There is also a veranda off the bedroom where a cozy and romantic evening meal while listening to the waves reminds you that Pico truly is paradise!

Vinagreiro Houses is built from a renovated old house barn in the Azores. The house has a scenic sea view from its terrace and is a 35-minute drive from Pico Mountain.

The Pico Island property has a private entrance, living room with a sofa and satellite TV, private bathroom, equipped kitchen, terrace and patio. The house enjoys a nice view of the garden.

Guests of the Vinegar are welcome to prepare their meals in the fully-equipped kitchen unit. It features a microwave, oven, stove, refrigerator, toaster, electric kettle and cutlery. Local restaurants are available within 1.2 mi, serving traditional Portuguese meals as well as regional dishes

The comfortable sun terrace offers a scenic view of the surrounding area and the sea. The green area is ideal for hiking and sightseeing while enjoying the tranquil ambiance.

The nearby Pico Mountain is an inactive volcanic site which is the highest point in Portugal. The Casa do Vinagreiro’s reception has a small shop which sells regional products, for guests wishing to try the local delicacies. The Lajes Village is an 8-minute drive away.

We (me and my girlfriend) are residing in a village of Santa Luzia on Pico island in the Azores, 1700 km west from Lisbon.

This BNB (Bed No Breakfast) is conveniently located just a couple steps from the main road Estrada Regional in Santa Luzia (Pico). The room is roughly 4 x 9 meters in size.

The space
LOCATION: We (me and my girlfriend) are located in a village of Santa Luzia (Fetais area) on Pico island in the Azores archipelago, 1700 km west from Lisbon. Conveniently located right on the main road called Estrada Regional in Santa Luzia (Pico).

The Huge Room (R1) is roughly 4 x 9 meters in size and has got a futon and two single beds, one of which consists of two stacked mattresses placed directly on the floor, which can be seen in the photos. The two mattresses can be placed together for couples who like to sleep together. It also has a work table and a dining table with chairs.

About 200 meters from us there is a little local village grocery shop and two cafes within walking distance. Madalena is 9 km and São Roque is 7 km from here. The PIX airport is 4 km and the beach is 2 km. Views of neighbouring islands and the Pico volcano are abound.

Remark about heating and air conditioning: The Huge Room (R1) does not have any heating or a/c and electric radiator is ineffective heating such a large room. Therefore it is recommended to book The Huge Room (R1) only during summer months (May/June through October). During winter months of the year the temperature in the room (R1) fluctuates between +12C and +15C and humidity can be high during wet and rainy weather. We can provide an electric radiator for an additional €10 per day, but The Huge Room (R1) lacks the door in order to isolate it and our house is unheated as well. Thus from October through May it is best to book it (R1) just for overnight sleeping and book the "Room with TV" (R2) instead (our separate listing), which is much more sunny and can be heated with an electric radiator.

In addition to the Huge Room (R1) guests can also access the following shared spaces: kitchen (without food or snacks), full bathroom, corridor, the Wifi sitting room, the outdoor terrace and the outdoor backyard.

During your stay
During your stay please ring the front door bell to receive help even if you are inside of the house.

Other things to note
DOOR ENTRY: We do not have a guest key for the house, since we are always at home, so we will open the door for you. Ring the door bell button if the door is locked.

AIRPORT PICK UP: is possible for one person who is unable to get a rental car. My truck is a commercial two-seater with an open box, so I can't pick up more than one person . Your suitcase(s) will have to be placed in the open loader box of the truck. Pick up charge: €5.

KITCHEN: We do not have proper cooking skills, as well as the grocery supply and food selection on the island can be hit and miss, thus we are unable to serve you breakfast or snacks, which are not included in the room price, but a light use of our kitchen gas stove and refrigerator storage is possible with advance notice. About 200 meters from us there is a little local village grocery shop and two cafes within walking distance.

LAUNDRY & DRYING: We wash your bedding and towels once per week and after every guests stay which is included in the price.

Yet if you need to wash your clothes and extras we do the laundry and drying for you upon your request at the following cost:

LAUNDRY SERVICE: €5 per load (2-3 hours, drying outside, if raining – inside).

CLOTHES DRYER: €1 per every 10 minutes, runs on electricity.

CLEANING FEE: There is no room cleaning fee at this time and we clean everything ourselves. We do not allow any cleaners or other people into your room during your stay here.

WC: Please do NOT deposit solid objects (exception: toilet paper) should be deposited into the toilet. Please leave them in the trash bucket next to the toilet.

SMOKING: While smoking inside of the house is not allowed, we can arrange a designated space for smoking outside.

CHILDREN: We do host families with children, with a special advance arrangement and a small extra charge and we ask your children to be well behaved.

PETS: Generally we do not accept guests with pets since the pets can attack our cats, but exceptions can be made if a disabled person require a guide dog or if you guarantee that your pets are exceptionally well behaved and will not chew our furniture etc. and you will clean up after your pets. Pet fee will be quoted separately. Any damage by pets will have to be compensated. With such conditions we will accept some pets, but a prior agreement, with pet photos provided, must be made prior to your arrival.

DINING: Guests can bring the round plastic foldable table out themselves (or ask for help) to any of the available yards and courtyards (pictured in the photos) for an unforgettable dining experience. While we don't serve breakfast or food, you are welcome to heat up your own and store it in the refrigerator. Please note that cooking oil, groceries and other ingredients are not included in the room price.

SHOES: You can wear your shoes while inside the room as long as they are free of mud or you can wear slippers if you prefer. We may have a spare pair of slippers in case if you need them.

GUESTS: The room is for your use only. Visitors are not allowed unless discussed and agreed in advance.

CAR: I recommend renting a car or a scooter with a local rental company, which is best to do in advance. Since I do not have a passenger car I am unable to pick you up at the ferry terminal or the airport. If you need help finding a better car rental deal, just ask.

GUIDED PROPERTY TOUR: Upon guest's request, during your stay, I can show you around the property if you're interested in different palms and exotic plants that are growing here as well as volcanic caves on the property.

RECYCLING: Please leave all waste and recyclables in the rubbish bin provided in the room. We will sort out, wash and discard all garbage and will recycle and compost the rest, so you don't have to.

EXTRAS: Special requests such as arrange a bonfire or provide a space for a tent in our spacious upper "backyard" (surrounded by woods) or arrange a walk in our garden can be discussed in advance. We will charge a reasonable cash fee to cover our costs.

You couldn't be closer to the water's edge in our self-catering suite at the head of a slipway and old historic port, with amazing views,from sunrise to sunset. Whether your choice is bathing in the warm,fishing, diving or boating, it is all available right at your door.

The entire holiday flat is on the ground floor of the Fisherman´s Retreat Pico - there is a small but fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed and a singel bed. The bathroom has a shower and a toilette.

Besides the sea view, the inland scenery retells the past glory of vast vineyards outlined in black lava stones, classified by UNESCO as a Vineyard Cultural Site, and of the wines and “aguardentes” (local spirits) production, exported by sea to Europe and America.

Pico is the perfect destination for water sports and nature, and is the ideal spot for diving, underwater and sporting fishing, watching and swimming with whales and dolphins, mountain climbing (2 351 m), hiking trails, horse riding, bird watching and wine and cheese tasting, among other possible activities. The area of Lajes do Pico that is South of the Island is where the temperature is warmer. In order to have access to all this, I'm happy to share it with you, located in the village of Lajes do Pico - Vila Baleeira dos Açores, which is 35 minutes from the airport. The House was built in 2016. We rent 1 Bedroom with Private bathroom, porch, garden and parking area. To better explore the island we advise car rental and can park on the property. Once at Pico you can take the opportunity to visit the Islands of São Jorge and Faial, on boat trips lasting 30 minutes, airlines that operate for Pico and practice promotional rates are SATA and tap. We can, upon request, and depending on our availability, support the arrival and departure of the island. We look forward to seeing you!
