They put a sign in the lobby the day the pool was being worked on to apologize for the awful toxic smell. No advanced warning whatsoever. Thankfully Franck the front desk attendant was able to move us to a better room farther away from the pool. He was the bright spot at this place and the only reason I give it 4 stars. Entering through the gardens you are overwhelmed with the beauty and color of many flowering plants, greenery and roses. The small patio sitting areas are charming and intimate. The owner was welcoming and also the chef. Breakfast was good and our 2 dinners del8cious and in a charming atmosphere. The public areas and rooms have very Provence decor and much detail. Our room was large and had a very beautiful covered porch. The bathroom was also large. My only complaint, which applies to most European bathrooms in old buildings, is there is no counter space for toiletries or towel racks. Despite this we enjoyed our stay and recommend Les Roses highly."
