This time we were assigned the ‘Kingfisher’ room which is nice, but the ‘Sparrow’ was much nicer. The shower in Kingfisher was in need of renovation as the tiles were misaligned and the shower head was not the modern rain style which we experienced in Sparrow. During our stay unfortunately there was a major thunderstorm and all power in the area was out for 4 hours, but each room had a decent battery torch. The hosts Gianni and Isolde are the best, and their dog Lulu is a sweetheart. I am staying an extra night after returning from my next destination when I found that Karkloof Safari Resort had closed three days ago without notifying me. No problem at all to get my room back for a night. Useful tips: Get a deluxe or family room so you have a kitchen to cook. Not many restaurants in town. My unit had a French press for coffee, ZA has a tea culture, so instant coffee is usually the only option. The bed is super comfortable and the pillow selection good. There's a nice down comforter. Kitchen is well equipped, there's even a cork screw for those of us who love South African wine. There are barbecue grille, they are Weber charcoal grills and you just have to supply your own charcoal. For those from outside South Africa, the tap water is very good, no issues at all. The property is safe and in a very nice area of town. "

The space
This is a full one bedroom unit, with bedroom, full bathroom, and open plan living/kitchen space. There is a designated workspace, breakfast nook and private entrance. You will love how spacious, bright and airy the place is, looking out over our pool area.

Guest access
The guest parking is right outside the unit. There is a pool with pool safety net, a jungle gym, and a braai area - all available to you on request.

Other things to note
The guest parking has one spot per unit, but there is additional parking around the front of the house. This parking is also easier to use should you not feel comfortable with reversing out the guest driveway again. We are quite close to the N3 which is very convenient! But it does bring a bit of distant traffic noise which can be heard with the windows open. The majority of our guests don’t even notice but if you are a light sleeper do bear that in mind.

Guest access
Access is controlled by an electric gate. You will be given a remote on arrival, allowing you to come and go at your convenience. Please be aware there are small children on the property, so drive slowly and carefully, and please allow the gate to close before driving off.

1 bedroom separate living room, open plan kitchen/dining room. You have the entire flat to yourself.
This is a comfy and very spacious flat, tastefully decorated, with lots of light. All the rooms open onto the pool deck.
Enjoy the beautiful birdlife in the garden and the adjacent natural forrest. You will have your own private entrance and undercover parking. Free wifi, DSTV (cable tv).

The space
This place is peaceful and quiet. Clean and fresh. Tea, coffee, sugar, rusks will be provided. Check in between 14.00 an 22.00. Check out 10am. Early check in and late check out by arrangement. You'll love this place..

Guest access
You have a private entrance with full use of the pool. The pool is rustic and natural but needing some TLC and upgrading but to do this we have to drain the pool. Since we are experiencing severe drought in most parts of the country, we have to save water and therefore cannot work on the upgrade. The water is always kept clean, fresh and sparkling and guests are welcome to swim in the pool.
There is secure parking for only one guest car. Guest will have to use street parking for the 2nd car if they have 2 cars.

Other things to note
Guest may NOT have parties or braais. Only guests booked in may stay. No visitors allowed unless you check with the host first.
The flat has a shower and a bath tub but guest are requested to only use the shower to help preserve water.
Please note that the flat is attached to the main house, and although not accessible through the house, the host lives upstairs and will give as much privacy as she can but this is a family home. You will however have your own entrance,and the entire flat to yourself.
NOTE: The bed is a Queen size but listed here as USA King size.
Smoking is strictly forbidden on the property.
