- "This hotel was very clean & safe!! Only 15 minutes from airport. The hot tub was very pretty! After we got through the security gate, this place was like a little village into itself. The staff here are its biggest draw. They are so nice and try so hard to make you comfortable and welcome. The manager saw us struggling with our luggage and came over to assist. At dinner one night, our young server, Einer, worked so hard to look after us. I guess that day, a large group had depleted most of the wine reserve. This happens. He came to our table with a list of about 12 red and 12 white options. Unfortunately, there were only 2 or 3 left for us to pick. We opted for alternatives, which is not a big deal. When our food came, we were blown away. It was delicious. The chef paid special attention to my food intolerances, (gluten and lactose) and delivered a succulent meal. Einer also left a message for the breakfast chef, so that I would be looked after in the morning. Needless to say, they came through with flying colours. Our room was spacious and well appointed. I think this may be an older hotel. There was signs of wear in our room, but nothing unacceptable. For example, the bathroom sink had been washed so many times he finish was worn. There was a crack in the bathroom window. The area around the rooms door lock showed daylight. All in all, we would stay here again. Hopefully when it was better weather got us to enjoy he pool, jaccuzzi and sauna. Btw. The gardens are well maintained also. This is truly an oasis in this place. Well done!"

Having breakfast with waterfall sounds in the background along with the tropical plants is serene. Nelson is a phenomenal host who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience in Costa Rica. That's not coming from an inexperienced traveler. I have been traveling for over 20 years, 5 continents, and over 10 countries with multiple visits to many. This place exceeded all my expectations and I can see how this business is thriving and will only do better in the future. My mobility scooter was damaged by the airline while coming to Costa Rica and it was a big issue, to say the least. My wife and I tried to find tools and such on our own but had no luck. After talking to Nelson about it, he took it upon himself and proceeded to fix it during our breakfast no less. During our breakfast, of the best banana pancakes we have ever had in our lives, he succeeded with the scooter. The scooter was running and he did an amazing job of securing things to make sure it didn't happen again. It was never his problem and he would have been an incredible host without doing so, but he still went out of his way for us. He saved our trip in more ways than one. We will definitely stay again and even if they were full we would visit just to see him, the amazing lobby, and to have breakfast. I would recommend 10 out of 10 to anyone."

My house is perfect for those who want to be on the heart of the city and the action. According to Time Out Magazine, Escalante -where my house is located- is one of the 51 coolest neighborhood in the world. One of the reasons is that in the last years there has been a great development in gastronomy, with many restaurants and bars. As this is part of what makes the area very attractive, I advise those of you looking for a silent spot to try a different location. But if you are looking for having a good time with a walking distance to San José attractions, this is a place for you. This illuminated private room, its window is just next to our garden, so during the morning you can listen to our daily visitors: different birds. The private room includes a closet to keep your belongings and it is located next to the shared bathroom, so it allows you to have more privacy.

But a big part of the program at Unity is based on the principle of do-ocracy. We believe in Burning Man ethos and encourage everyone to share their gifts with others. Not only does the spirit of co-creation act as a binding glue for the community, but also empowers people to step into who they want to be in the world. It’s also a step towards shifting the worldview based on the exchange economy towards one that supports social change in the direction of a gift economy. It could be a yoga class, meditation, workshop, a mini concert after dinner in the garden, a cooking class, guiding the preparation of a meal (a crepe party?), initiating an outdoor adventure, a hike, an art class, a women's / men's circle, a talk about a topic you're passionate about (you could even collaborate and organize a TED talk-style mini “unconference”... ). It can be anything you can think of! Of course this is just an invitation, no obligation, however this could be your chance to overcome your fear of doing something new and dare to reinvent yourself! Over the years we've had many activities and classes about spirituality, yoga, breathwork, Tantra, Taoism, conscious relationships, NonViolent Communication, Qigong, permaculture, all sorts of dance classes, ecstatic dances, recycling workshops, communal arts projects and many other cool knowledge exchange and co-creative workshops.

We are calling in easy-going, conscious, responsible, and clean people. Please know this is a shared house, not a hotel, if you are looking for hotel-style services and a maid making your bed every morning and cleaning after yourself all the time, this is not it. Our maid cleans the common areas twice a week but guests are required to clean after themselves, maintain the space tidy, help empty the compost and so on...

Sharing a kitchen and bathroom is not for everyone. If this is your case, you might best suited to rent one of our studios, especially our 2 studios in front of the garden which are very peaceful and serene:
