The house and the adjoining rooms are high-quality and designed with great attention to detail. There were only six of us in the house and so our 4 kids had each an own bedroom with a 1,40m queensize bed and were very happy. The large table in the kitchen, the large pool house, the living room with pool table and the sufficiently spacious bedrooms offer plenty of space and opportunities to deal also with larger groups. The garden and the pool are well maintained, the unheated pool has completely warmed up sufficiently by the sun. The fact that we were able to use the 9-seater van right away was perfect for us, we were picked up at the airport and brought back there. The service and helpfulness was excellent and exactly as described in previous comments. Since the house is located on the north side, there were quite a few moments when the clouds covered the sun differently than on the south side. Some of us found this particularly helpful, but everyone has to decide for themselves. Anyway because of the wind on the island a few little warmer clothes can be useful. The Refúgio Guest House is set in a peaceful and amazing scenery over the São Vicente valley. It's located at a 6500 square meters property with two houses on it (Quinta O Refúgio and Refúgio Guest House).
Our privileged location makes it easy to access anywhere in Madeira Island by car. Just in 45 minutes drive from the airport, 30 minutes drive from Funchal or in a 10 minutes walk to the Village center where you can find some, an ATM machines, Banks, Pharmacy, Coffee shops, petrol station and bus station. At a 18 minute walk you will face the great North seashore where you can find nice bakeries, a small supermarket and several restaurants and take-a-way where you can appreciate a good meal at a very good price.

The House
The Refúgio Guest House is a spacious and comfortable house with a homey and rustic aura. This house is perfectly set up for unforgettable holidays for families and friends that are looking for a retreat in the middle of nature!
The house is a two-storey level house with 5 bedrooms with queen size beds and 3 bathrooms. At the first floor you find 1 suite + 4 bedrooms, a shared bathroom, the kitchen, the dining area and a fireplace in the hall. Downstairs there is another suite with double bed and a bathroom, the living room with fireplace.
On the outside you will find beautiful gardens and terraces and also a stream that runs besides the house which gives you a peaceful and relaxing ambience. On the front door terrace there are hammocks, a swing and sofas to enjoy the silence and the view. For more sunny days we recommend our barbecue and wood hoven at the entrance terrace. You can maybe try to make your own pizza recipies.

The kitchen is fully equipped, with all the mod-cons. The living room is set on the ground level and it's a big salon organized into 2 separated areas: one is around a 2nd fireplace and the other is placed on a lower level around the big tv.

In addition, we built a swimming pool at the top of the house so you can enjoy sunbathing with a fantastic view of the ocean, this one being a private swimming pool, garage for 2 cars in the building.

We enjoyed the flair of the house, the pool and the garage. Just because of the price category of this location it is important to us to tell about some potential for improvements. The first thing is probably not easy to solve but many dogs from neighbours bell regularly during hours, late in the night and/or early in the morning. I mention this because it was really a problem for all of us. Other points are not so bad, like the table of the terrace too big for the terrace. It means that half of the family can’t sit properly. Chairs are half on the terrace and half in the garden. Deck chairs (only 2) at the pool are defect and one of both chairs is not usable (broken leg). All defects communicated at the beginning of our stay (9 days) haven’t been replaced or repaired. To recapitulate we would recommend the Jasmin house after some adjustments and a solution in regard to the neighbourhood’s dogs."
