The access to the beach is also very well considered as only hotel guests with a key card can exit through some gates to reach the beach. For a young family, this made a lot of sense. In terms of facilities, there's a nice small gym 24/7 free for use and for the more avid gym goers and more substantial gym with powerlifting equipment etc for 10 euros a day. The spa itself was really nice and is only 20 euros for 3 hours which I clufes access to a private pool, sauna, steam room, ice bucket and jacuzzi. This is free for anyone who books a massage too. Outside of this, there is a separate indoor heated pool which is free for all guests to use and very well sized. The breakfast buffet was great for us as vegetarians and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Dinner was also good however ony a few nights, perhaps a more substantial vegetarian main dish would have been great. Aside from this, we enjoyed our meals in the hotel. "

- "Spectacular last minute family trip to the southern coast of Portugal! Needed to escape the hustle and bustle of Seville for some R&R and Pine Cliffs Hotel was perfect for us! The grounds are spectacular, beautifully groomed with direct beach access. The restaurant directly on the beach served up high quality ceviche and drinks and there were ample beach chairs with shade available for our use. The 1 bedroom suite we reserved was spacious and clean though did show some signs of wear but was still clean with comfortable linens and towels. The breakfast bullet provided plenty of options to choose from with plenty of fresh fruit, pastries and the typical fare of higher end buffets (espresso drinks, juice options/smoothies, omelette station, etc). We would definitely stay again next time we visit southern Portugal!"

The beach was a bit of a walk through the hotel grounds, but there is a train shuttle which our son loved! Overall very happy and would visit again. Only small negatives, the cleaning staff for the apartment (we had a two bed golf suite which was perfect in size, location and decor) varied in effort! Some days it was cleaned spotlessly and others it seemed it had just had a quick clean. The restaurants on site are not the cheapest but good quality. - "Stunning property located in a 220 hectare nature park on the beautiful Vincentine Coast of the Algarve. You have miles of hiking and mountainabike trails just steps from your room. The grounds are truly beautiful, staff is amazing and the food is very good, as are the recommendations for restaurants or activities in the area. They really aim to show you the best of local scenery and produce of the Algarve. Do keep in mind the hotel is very secluded, getting there or to any of the stunning beaches or restaurants in the area often involves a 15-25 minute drive on dirt roads full of potholes, so be prepared for an adventure! We loved our stay at Praia do Canal, where else could you find such an enormous garden in your backyard to play. A big thank you to Bruno, Melisa and the rest of the amazing staff for making us feel at home. We hope to come back."

What pulls down the score from a 5 is the fact that the design of the complex is confusing and the fact that the apartments are quite a walk away from the main building where the restaurant and pool is. The property is beautiful, modern, unique concept, great furniture, partial sea views from the terrace, fully stocked kitchen ( cuttlery, glasses, cups, pots and pans although we have not eaten in the apartment). The two rooms are connected thru a short outdoor hallway which offers privacy between the master/living room and the second room. The restaurant views are stunning. Cleaning staff were wonderful, always on time and did a great job. You need a car as Lagos is 12 min away. Unfortunately some things didn’t go smoothly hence the rating. The A/C in the main living area hasn’t worked. The room temp hovered around 25 until it fully died, leaking on the floor. Staff have offered to move us to a new room ( lower floor though) that had the same broken A/C. As the A/C was still working in the bedrooms we decided to not move.They brought a noisy portable A/C for living room with towels spread on the floor to contain the leak. The water was lukewarm until the last day when it was raised to a comfortable temperature. The breakfast was good quality, decent assortment but every day the same. After 7 days it got repetitive. The beds were not as comfortable as we were expecting from a resort of such caliber. There is construction at the property although they try to contain it. The windows are great at protecting the units from the construction noise. All in all was not the experience we were hoping for."
