Summer Snow is a privately owned cluster of cottages, support buildings, pleasure boats, sailboats and golf carts. It is not a commercial resort even though it can sleep from 24 to 45 guests depending on how many couples. It has held private events from 10 to over 250 people. We are located on the shores of the beautiful Bras d'or Lakes on Cape Breton Island, situated on 78 acres of pristine land with mountains, large green fairways, a large event center, commercial kitchen and an event hall that seats 75 to 100. We have a large 40 foot suspended wharf where you can fish or swim. Our indoor pool is heated to 80 degrees Fahrenheit 26.4 Celsius all summer and fall. Our Yacht is part of the rental and includes a four hour day sail with 25 people. Sail to the right you have hundreds of miles of Lakes, turn left and you have open Ocean. ALL PICTURES WERE TAKEN ON THE PROPERTY.

*- The Yellow Cottage was totally redone in 2004 and again in 2016.It has abeautiful view ofthe Bra D'or Lakes and Kelly's Mountain. Gazing out theliving room window one would think they were looking at abackdrop for aNational Geographic's movie.Itis open year round, has hot air heat and central air. It has three bedrooms a hot tub in the deck and a beautiful garden with lots of flowers. The plants are from gardens all around the world

*- The Red Cottage was built in 2008 and looks very pretty sitting on a tranquil hillside over looking the lake. The cottage has a wonderful digital sound system, stone walls, and is very private. It has a large deck, fire pit, electric stove, two bedrooms and a pull out coach. Full three piece bathroom and lots of closet space. It is not uncommon to look out the window in the morning and see deer feeding in the field.

*- The Blue Cottage was built in 2010 and is abeautiful cottage, located on a wooded hillside with a large green field in front. It overlooks the lake and is known for its great tranquility and view. The location is ideal for those in need of a quite place to restor curl up with a good book. The cottage has a deck, stone walls,electric stove, two bedrooms and a large coach, full three piece bathroom and lots of closet space.

*- The Beige Cottage was the first cottage we built after renovating the Yellow cottage. It is a little gem located on a cliff over looking the lake. The cottage has a large deck, stone walls, hot tub, and a propane stove and fireplace. It has two bedrooms and a pull out coach, full three piece bathroom and lots of closet space. It has a great fire pit and many nighs are spent watching the fire and roasting marshmallows

*- The Brown Cottage was built in 2013 and is a new design for us. It is a small guest cottage with a loft.It can sleep 4 and has a wonderful view of the water and the wharf. It is on a cliff tucked in the woods and is very private.

*- Our Yacth is also called Summer Snow. It is 38 feet long has two bedrooms and a 4 piece bath. It can day sail with 25 peopleand sleeps six. It has twin diesel engines and can cruse at 22 knots. It is included in the package and comes with a captain.

*- The Bunk House is in the shape of a boot and sleeps 8 adults but the record is 13 kids and a dog. The record is held by the Muggah family. The Boot was built by Mike Dolmont in 2004. Mike is a skilled carpenter and lives in New Harris year round.

*- Our Event Center Seats 100 for Concerts or 50 to 75 for Meals depending on the seating arrangement. It has a heated inground indoor Pool and a Commercial Kitchen.

*- Our Gardens contain Van Gogh's Irises taken from the grounds of the clinic of St. Paul de Mausole in St.Remy de Province, France, where Van Gogh spent the last year of his life and where he painted one of his most famous paintings, “The Irises” The bulbs were in a wheelbarrow that the gardener was thinning out and which were going to be discarded so Ester "the original owner of the property" was given some.

Primroses from Blenheim Place: These are located all over the property they have been separated and spread. Blenheim was Winston Churchill’s estate north of London. Ester found them along the driveway.

Heather Bush near the rhododendron in the side garden by the yellow cottage came from Edinburgh Castle in Scotland. Ester found them in the field and replanted them at Summer Snow.

*- Summer Snow is the perfect spot for dogs. As one visitor said it is a Spa for dogs, They can run and swim at their leisure.

- "This is a great property for multi generational multi family get together. We use every square inch of this property and it’s big! The owner Donnie and his family were very receptive and helpful to any issues or questions we had. It is well stocked in the main kitchen and in the individual cabins. A dryer on site would’ve been nice to dry out bath and pool towels as it was very humid and no great place to hang them outside but a minor point. Our highlights were the bonfires, pool, boat cruise and the older kids and adults went swimming in the lake and did some paddle boarding. The location was far enough away from everything to feel isolated and cosy but close enough to go in to do some golfing, see the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and do a little shopping. I would highly recommend this property for a large family group if you can get a booking!"

Located at the start of the Cabot Trail, these spacious apartments and cottages are within 3 km of Bras d’Or Lake. Free Wi-Fi and beautiful on-site walking trails are available. A patio, fireplace and hardwood floors are provided with each apartment or cottage at Hunter’s Mountain Chalets. Satellite TV and a kitchen or kitchenette are included. This 16' diameter geodesic dome sits on a treehouse platform in our apple orchard. It has a double bed and a swing chair inside. Half the roof is a skylight, so the star gazing is wonderful. The Apple Dome is connected to the Luna Dome by stairs. From the deck you can see Church Pond, the Atlantic Ocean, mountains & the stars at night! There's no electricity or source of heat, but solar lights are provided. The bathroom/shower is a short walk away in Whiff's Lodge; there is also an outhouse a few steps from the dome.

Located on the shores of Bras d’Or Lake on Cape Breton Island, this resort offers a waterfront boardwalk. The rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi. - "My stay at the yurt was not the best. We had to arrive before 8:30 which is hard when you are travelling from one place to another, I will say they did accommodate us in being a little late. On the website it says that there is a hot tub available to people who stay there, but when we got there it was an extra charge which nobody had told us. The trail out to the ‘ferry’ is definitely not kept up. I also was lead to believe these ‘yurts’ were in the woods further with more space between them, when really they are very close to one another. When I had went to the bathroom there was no soap to wash your hands with after. When you are paying a lot of money for this, I would expect it to be a little cleaner and more organized with the basic essentials you need to wash your hands. I was very disappointed with this place as the pictures are very different than the actual place. Hopefully you read my review and update a couple things for the next people who are paying this much to stay. Thank you."

Glenghorm Beach Resort is located on the Cabot Trail in Ingonish. It features a private white sand beach. WiFi is available in public areas of the property. - "Yurt was adorable. View wasn’t great and the hot tub, which I cancelled stays on the deck, takes up a lot of the deck and interfered with the view. Views from other yurts were much better. There are common areas for cooking but nowhere to wash dishes except for the staff kitchen. I would definitely stay again but would choose a different yurt and get better instructions regarding how to open and close the roof portal. I messed it up when opening and was unable to close it. I couldn’t find any staff to help since everyone had left for the evening. I would plan to use the restaurant instead of trying to cook."

The dome looked like it hadn't been wiped down on the inside in a long time not something you would want to see during normal times but shouldn't be the case for public safety during covid. I feel like there is a complete lack of care or safety."

It also contains cookware such as pots and pans for induction burner, plates, bowls, mugs, drinkware, utensils and a grill/griddle for the BBQ. The elegant bathroom has a stand-up tile shower, hairdryer, luxury microfiber towels and eco-friendly bathroom essentials that you will love! Next is the main attraction... the bedroom! A very cozy, yet chic touch, with a comfortable queen size bed, luxury bedding with chunky throw blanket, lots of fluffy pillows and homemade knitted slippers! Beside your bed is a tv wall with a Smart TV with Amazon Prime included as well as a cozy love seat to sit next to the electric fireplace and during those colder evenings. The heat pump provides added heat and air conditioning to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Upstairs in the loft will be another comfortable queen bed where you can lay and watch the stars through your overhead skylight window.

The Yurt or 'Ger' is a Mongolian structure, comparable to a First Nations Tipi. Used by nomadic peoples, it was originally made of felt and furs. After being westernized by folks from Oregon and British Columbia, the Yurt has been transformed.

Hand painted from ceiling to floor, our Mongolian Yurts are 16.5-19 feet in diameter with their own deck. The cozy, insulated interior features a double bed and a twin bed, one electrical outlet and a skylight. Bathrooms/shower available a short distance away. Japanese cedar soaking tubs are available for an additional charge next to the yurts, some with an unbeatable view of the Atlantic Ocean, Bird Islands and our freshwater pond.

This 16' diameter Mongolian Yurt sits up high on a private deck and has an amazing view over the Atlantic Ocean and Church pond. There is a double bed & a bunk bed, table and chairs inside. On clear nights you can open the canvas roof and see stars through the skylight. There's no electricity but battery operated lights are provided. The wood stove will keep you cozy in cold months. Showers and washrooms are located about 25 meters away in the Whiff's Lodge. You can also bring your furry friend for an additional $15 a night.
