Nestled in a quiet community at the mouth of the canyon to Taos Ski Valley (15min), the Cactus Studio is perfectly located for those interested in exploring all the area has to offer, from enchanting mountain scenery to the world-renowned culture, food, and art of Taos (20min) or Arroyo Seco (5min). 4-wheel-drive is recommended to access the property via dirt road. Snow tires are additionally recommended in winter.

The property has a keypad lock that allows you to come and go without having to worry about keys. Each guest is provided a unique code during their stay for enhanced security. Please note that the front door access is shared between this studio and two others. Guests from all three studios have front door access, but only you have access to your private studio.

The interior embodies the Southwest. Saltia tiling, traditional viga beams, and locally inspired art are warm and inviting. High-speed internet, a streaming/casting compatible TV (Hulu, Netflix, Max, Disney+ subscriptions all included), keyless smart locks, espresso machine, kitchenette, private bathroom, and free parking are included. A glass sliding door connects the balcony to the studio and includes a screen door for airflow on cool summer nights. From road 150 headed towards the canyon turn (sharply) left onto road 230. Follow 230 until you see the 'Hacienda del Valdez' sign on your right. This is a dirt road and 4-wheel drive is required. Follow the road up the hill. The condo building is on your right (the 3-tiered building). Park in front of or to the right of the building and follow the middle red staircase to Unit 10. Your studio is one of the three located inside.

Cell service is poor at the property. Please save your door code and WiFi information offline before arriving to ensure smooth check-in. Also please note that there is no AC. You may experience ongoing repairs on the outdoor staircase of the unit. These are conducted by the HOA - please use caution on the stairs.

This house features a comfy king-sized bed in the upstairs bedroom, as well as a full-sized Murphy bed in the downstairs living room. We keep the cupboards stocked with some food, condiments and coffee to make you stay home-like. We welcome well behaved pets.

One thing to note, the spiral staircase to the upstairs is a bit steep and spiral. A couple guests with disabilities have suggested that I note this here as a caution to those who find steep spiral staircases challenging. The vast majority of our guests have no issue with the staircase and enjoy the charm.

You come up a beautiful winding road heading north towards Arroyo Seco, passing humble abodes and million dollar properties and an old spanish cemetery decorated with lights and flowers. It is straight out of the painting of northern New Mexico. As you turn down the entrance, the view is stunning and the humble driveway hides charming Adobe with a huge empty field for a clear view of the Taos Mountains. The house is super cute with large bedrooms and a nice den that the kids loved. The kitchen is well equipped and the laundry room and storage are a big help for spring break. Our hosts where consistently checking in during the snow storm and could not have been more accommodating. I would totally recommend this house!"

This is an exquisite setting on a family ranch formerly run with cattle and bison. Our family has been here for over 300 years, farming, ranching and tending the land. This is not your typical setting. Its bucolic, fresh, open and....green!

The casita is a one bedroom, one bath with a balcony to enjoy the valley and mountain views while sipping your tea in the morning. We sit on about 20 acres and a private driveway, but the "jewel of Taos County- Arroyo Seco" is just a 10 minute walk down the road with 2 restaurants, and Taos Cow Ice Cream (voted in the top 10 in the nation!). There is also a grocery store, bar and a local dive to enjoy famous New Mexican chili!

If you prefer to walk in the opposite direction, you can walk up to trails that offer the best of wild and natural in Taos County. Walk along the creek to the craggy cliffs, or up to the waterfalls that veil the caves behind them. Or sit among the cottonwoods and enjoy a spectacular sunset!

We pride ourselves in a pet-free and smoke-free setting. Please note that we have cigarette smoke detectors that are checked after every stay. If there is an indication that there was smoking or pets in the guesthouse we will add a $450 cleaning fee so rest assured you will be in a smoke free setting! Finally, the entrance is up one flight of stairs so if you have trouble with stairs, this might not be your best housing option.

However, as in many small towns, parking is less than adequate and the sidewalks roll up early - no lingering late over dinner with friends.Overall, we had a good first experience, and may well return in the future, with better knowledge of what to expect (like the surprising number of unpaved narrow gravel roads, some of which were more than a little scary to navigate in a rental car). We enjoyed the adventure and would definitely recommend the property/area to friends. Thanks for the hospitality!"

The studio is located in a quiet, rural community at the base of the canyon to Taos Ski Valley.

4-wheel-drive is recommended to access the property via dirt road. Snow tires are additionally recommended in winter.

The property has a keypad lock that allows you to come and go without having to worry about keys. Each guest is provided a unique code during their stay for enhanced security. Please note that the front door access is shared between this studio and two others. Guests from all three studios have front door access, but only you have access to your private studio.

The interior embodies the Southwest. Saltia tiling, traditional viga beams, a hand-painted mural, and a large wood burning kiva fireplace are warm and inviting. High-speed internet, a streaming/casting compatible TV (Hulu, Netflix, Max, Disney+ subscriptions all included), keyless smart locks, espresso machine, full kitchen, private bathroom, and free parking are included.

A private balcony features outdoor bistro seating, lounge chair, and stunning views of the Rio Hondo River Valley below. The balcony also includes outdoor string lighting and a covered area which provides shade for the summer months. It offers fantastic star gazing on clear nights.

A glass sliding door connects the balcony to the studio and includes a screen door for airflow in the summer. Inside the studio you can dine/work at a bar-level table or relax on a leather living room couch that seats two. The queen size memory foam mattress is topped with down pillows and premium sheets. A closet provides ample storage for skis or fishing equipment. A washer/dryer are included for your convenience as well.

The kitchen area has a full size refrigerator/freezer, oven/stove, all necessary dish-ware, espresso machine, drip coffee maker, cook-ware, toaster, blender, kettle, and microwave. Coffee, cooking oil, and basic spices are supplied. Please note that there is no AC.

From road 150 headed towards the canyon turn (sharply) left onto road 230. Follow 230 until you see the 'Hacienda del Valdez' sign on your right. This is a dirt road and 4-wheel drive is required. Follow the road up the hill. The condo building is on your right (the 3-tiered building). Park in front of or to the right of the building and follow the middle red staircase to Unit 10. Your studio is one of the three located inside.

Cell service is poor at the property. Please save your door code and WiFi information offline before arriving to ensure smooth check-in. Also please note that there is no AC. You may experience ongoing repairs on the outdoor staircase of the unit. These are conducted by the HOA - please use caution on the stairs.

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend at Casa Carmen. The place was so charming and interesting since the owner has many of his pieces of art work in the casa.....very clean with wonderful smells and magical lamps. The hosts were so very gracious and welcoming to us and to our dogs. We loved the art studio, the beautiful yard and the walking trail. They have many little sitting areas and unexpected surprises to discover. The upper decks were perfect for watching the sunset with a glass of wine. This was truly a place of enchantment. We would recommend this place to any couple or girls get away.!!!

You are a few minutes from the charming village of Arroyo Seco offering fine restaurants, shops, location of the famous Taos Cow, and a infamous local tavern!! It is only a 10 minute drive to the historic Taos Plaza and a 20 minute drive to Taos Ski Valley where US Olympic teams train.

Casa Carmen may be best described as the Sunrise and the Sunset House. You are bathed continually with our immense New Mexico sun and artist's light. The 360 degree views are stunning, inspirational, beckoning to mind and spirit. A wonderful feature of the home is the incredible interior and exterior lighting. For the property, a DVD has been produced.
The home was built by the owners of adobe and hand-hewn logs. It is a stunning two story guest house of 1450 square feet.
The second level is designed as a parlor for conversation, sleeping, entertainment area with a table that seats four. There are two fantastic decks: The sunrise deck and the sunset deck. Each are spacious and wonderful for dining, entertaining, conversation, and of course viewing the expanse of Taos Valley and Taos Mountain nearby. You can almost touch the mountains!

The first level consists of wonderful sunroom, a bedroom, the country kitchen, the living room with dining area, and a full bath. The first level has south and east facing portals (covered porches) with comfortable outdoor seating. Also there is a fenced and gated large shaded dog pen for pets when you choose to leave them there.
A new hot tub is yours to enjoy outdoors in sun or starlight. The views are wonderful from its location!

Located in a grove of Aspens and Evergreens and surrounded by 150 acres of private land, raised flower beds and flagstone paths wander through the trees and expansive yard.

The home is decorated with the paintings of Pat Woodall, the owner, and other prominent Taos artists. A delightful collection of folk art also adorns the home. The grounds and gardens are award winning. Many outdoor delights await you with inviting comfort for your leisure. The outdoor lounging areas also have outdoor fireplace and a brazier for evening fires beneath the star-filled New Mexico night skies. Out here, there exists no light, noise, or visual pollution.

Pat and Carmen are nearby to assist you when called upon. Casita Rio is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath condo located in a 14 unit building tucked into the side of the mountain directly off State Hwy 150. Conveniently situated between Ski Valley and Taos, the location offers the best of both worlds for guests wanting to enjoy the outdoors and explore the town of Taos. The Rio Hondo River runs right along side the condo and is a great spot to fish for trout. It is also located very near several hiking/bike trails, and is only 4 miles from the ski lifts at Taos Ski Valley. You will love the picturesque mountain and river views!!

This cozy 2 bedroom condo has all the comforts of home and sleeps up to 6 people. Each bedroom has a Queen bed with high quality sheets and linens. There is also a Twin rollaway bed (perfect for kids!), and a very comfortable living room couch. The space is perfect for 1 or 2 couples, or small families.

Note: The unit above us has a similar layout and is connected via the downstairs foyer. It is also rentable through AirBNB, if you have a large group and need additional space! It is also available under the title "Charming Mountain Condo in Taos Ski Valley". Another condo unit not connected is rented through Natural Retreats under title "Riverside Retreat 12 at Taos East".

The condo is located just 4 miles from the lifts at Taos Ski Valley. It offers easy access for skiing and snowboarding, but is secluded enough to be away from the crowds and chaos at the top of the mountain. The quaint village of Arroyo Seco is just a few minutes down the mountain, conveniently located to pick up supplies or grab a quick bite to eat.

The kitchen is fully stocked with a Keurig Duo coffee maker, plus everything you need to cook meals at home. If you feel like going out instead of cooking, there are several excellent restaurants located nearby. Local favorites include Medley, Aceq and Sambroso. All are within 10 minutes by car and have delicious food and an upscale atmosphere.

The wood burning fireplace and a selection of puzzles and board games make for relaxing evenings in after a long day of skiing, hiking or sightseeing. For more things to do, head down to the town of Taos, located about 20 minutes away. There you will find lots to explore, including many art galleries, funky shops, live music, bars and lots of dining options. Take in the distinct culture of Taos by wandering through the streets of the historic district, or go back in time by touring Taos Pueblo.

Taos is magical no matter where you stay, but we think you will love it here!!

Sweet Home with Private Hot Tub Close to Taos Ski Valley

Get ready to explore the best of Arroyo Seco, Taos and Taos Ski Valley from this special perch perfect for a small family or two couples. The unique adobe home featuring several hand carved wood doors and other unusual architectural details sleeps 4 adults, or 4 adults and up to younger 2 children. It is situated on a private dirt road just minutes from the shops, galleries, and restaurants of quaint artisan Arroyo Seco.
Newly furnished custom home is comfortable, private and well-appointed. Open floorplan means guests should all be comfortable with one another as the only doors in the house are for entry/exit and on the two bathrooms, or to separate two distinct living areas with bedroom using a set of large wooden doors.
In the front space is a large living space, cafe dining space, desk and chair, loft sleeping space, kitchenette, and bathroom.
Upstairs loft with queen bed is reachable only by a spiral staricase, so plan accordingly as the spiral staircase is not safe for young children.
In the back side of the home is a full kitchen, large dining area, queen sleeping space with privacy curtain, sofa and fireplace, and a full bathroom with tub.
The exterior features a large flagstone patio with sturdy patio furniture, gorgeous hot tub, covered portal and landscaped yard. The entry porch is stone and soaks up the sun in the afternoon so it's a great late day sitting porch, especially in fall and winter.
