- "We found this little cabin and wanted to go down in that area to fish at Lake Wapello. We picked a poor time to go down because the heat was in the 90's. So we spent a lot of time in the cabin. Were fascinated by a squirrel in the nest with head hanging out most of the time and a hummngbird buzzing around and we sighted his nest. TV came in good. U.S. Cellular phone service worked well down there. Surrounded by nature. My husband and I spent quality time down there together. Would have fished in the little pond there but to hot. A lot of nice restaurants in the area. Must go to Cantril Dutchmans Market and eat at Southfork restaurant in Bloomfield and CJ's. Family restaurant in Ottumwa. Lots to do in the area. The only withdrawel for me was I have a walker and a slope to get down to cabin but I did it. Yeah for me! Will go back again!"

The nature-themed apartment complements the landscaping and numerous songbirds it is surrounded by in the summertime. Outside is an outdoor sitting area, with a locally made bistro table and two chairs.

W.J. and Belle Steckel built the carriage house, in addition to their house, in 1910. It included living quarters for the groundskeeper/chauffeur. The apartment has been kept up-to-date by later owners.

Bloomfield is a unique small town, surrounded by farms. There are old-fashioned stores, a coffee/flower shop, stately Carnegie library, and hiking/fishing/hunting opportunities in the area.

Situated on just over 11 acres in Historic Van Buren County this 3 bedroom 2 bath renovated home has just what the doctor ordered. Located just a 10th of a mile on Hwy 15 between Memphis Mo. and Milton Ia offers a private 3+ acre pond stocked with Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, Walleye, Catfish and in the spring Rainbow Trout. In the last 3 years we have added 1400 Crappie, 600 Bass, 1500 Bluegill, 300 Catfish and 300 Rainbow Trout. We also added two pellet fish feeders that go off twice a day to maximize fish size. If fishing isn't for you take in the views from the sand beach or even possibly shoot a game of pool on a brand new Brunswick pool table, abundant parking to accommodate any types of vehicle's and larger groups.

This property is not an upscale venue. It is an old house in an old neighborhood. Decor can be described as ecclectic. The bed was comfortable and so was the temperature in the house. We would reserve the property again if we are in the area vs one of the motels in town. We wete able to prepare breakfast each of the 4 days we were there. The restaurants were closed for breakfast."

The Red Fern Hotel is a completely renovated two-bedroom apartment by high school sweethearts Bryce and Brielle with a goal to beautify Ottumwa.

This space is fitted for a party of one to four, with 1 queen-sized bed, 1 twin-size bed, and 1 futon (additional sheets/pillows included). It also has a kitchen which includes a stove, oven, full-size fridge, dishware, pots and pans, and dishwasher. The bathroom has a full bath/shower and washer/dryer. Be sure to make use of the back deck to hang out with friends during good weather! This space is air-conditioned and heated, both of which the guest have full control of.

Off-road parking is available directly behind the garage doors. Please leave the half circle drive free. This house apartment has 2 sets of two stairs, so this space is not handicap accessible as stairs must be taken to access the apartment.

- "We traveled to Iowa for the Tulip Festival in Pella. This house is absolutely charming! It's an older home with so much character. The house is filled with antiques and paintings that belonged to the family. The house has absolutely everything you need... they thought of everything! There were even snacks/candy in many of the rooms and drinks in the fridge. It was also immaculately clean. It was the perfect size and needs for myself, my daughter, and my mom. The home is located on a quiet , safe street that is close to many restaurants and stores. The only negative thing was that the sink makes a gurgling sound quite often. It was not bothersome...we got used to it and affectionately named it "gargoyle". It is definitely not a reason not to stay here. I would recommend this house to anyone and would stay here again and again."

Traveling here for a short-term job assignment, this is the perfect house for you. We require 4 to 7-night minimum stay and you can stay as long as 4 to 5 months and longer on approval.

Vintage Farmhouse smack in the middle of the city. Easy commute to Ottumwa Regional Health (3 miles) and 20 miles from Bloomfield, IA (HWY 63), Albia, IA and Fairfield, IA (HWY 34). There are several rural hospitals within 30 miles and several large companies like John Deere.

The house has 4 bedrooms, but only 3 are up for rent. 1 large bedroom with a king-size bed, 1 for a teen or an adult with a antique full bed and 1 is set up for an adult and/or child (Bunk Bed with Twin over Full Bed, the top bunk is only for a child, (no adults in the top bunk!). All Bedrooms are on the upper level, along with the full bath. The basement is set up with a Twin Bed and its own seating area with 2 Loveseats and a TV. There is a half bath on the main level. You will have the entire house to yourself, but 1 bedroom in this 4-bed house will be locked off and unavailable.

The house is fully furnished with vintage antiques, Oak furniture and a Leather Sectional and has all the amenities needed for your stay. The dining room table seats 6. Washer & Dryer are in the basement (basement is dry, usable and not creepy!) along with 2 Loveseats, a TV and a twin bed. The kitchen is brand spanking new, with white cabinets, new appliances, new countertops and an island you can eat at.

All utilities and lawn service are included in the rent.

Bring yourself, bring your family (up to 4 guests Max) or split the cost with another traveling nurse or associate; there is plenty of room in this 1900 sq ft home (2700 if you count the basement). Dogs are considered on an individual basis (no cats considered, sorry I am allergic and I live in the house 6 months out of the year) and NO SMOKING at all on the premises (inside or outside).

To reserve our place, you must pay for a 1 week's stay up front. Once you know your travel dates, please let me know and I will block off the remainder of your trip on the calendar. Then you can pay on a monthly basis once you arrive.

This is a separated entrance off the end of an office setting, neighborhood is churches, apartment buildings and downtown area. Downtown shopping is 2 blocks away, Bridge View event center is about a 10-15 minute walk from this unit. Mall shopping is 5-10 minute drive. John Deere facility is about 5 minute drive, hospital is about 5 minute drive. Many restaurants within walking distance. High School is a 2 minute walk. If you need something else just ask.

Unplug & recharge at this secluded retreat overlooking a private lake. Nestled among the majestic hickories, our approx. 500 sq ft cozy cabin is perfect for a couple's romantic getaway or a family weekend! In winter, snuggle up in front of the woodstove. In summer, relax on the porch or hammock or relax around the campfire, all with a beautiful view of the 11 acre lake. Also available for your use are 2 kayaks & a canoe.

Spend your time soaking in nature, or fishing on the lake. We have great fishing here! Our cabin is located on a fully operational organic farm, so you may hear cows mooing or occasionally see farm equipment.

Because our cabin is in the woods, and we have invaded the bugs natural habitat; it is very likely that you may see some during your stay! We do spray for bugs quarterly to help keep them out.

We do not recommend swimming in the lake. There are some big snapping turtles in it. SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK.

AS OF AUGUST 12, 2023: WE ARE NO LONGER PET FRIENDLY. We will not be accepting new reservations with pets at Hickory Lake Getaway.
