- "Quiet place to stay ." - "The building seemed new put together with low grade materials. Most all the exterior room windows were double/triple paned a the gas clearly wasn’t intact. You couldn’t see out the windows. Not that there is anything to see. The furniture all seemed to be what could be picked up at a thrift store. Mismatched damaged pieces. Even though the bed seemed to have clean sheets and pillow cases and was made, the mattress had dips in it on both sides; was not flat. The microwave and refrigerator looked to be from the 70s , with rust along the bottom of the fridge door. They worked tho! We were tired and accepted the cheapest option for the area-Proving you get what you pay for. I believe the carpet was new as was the paint on the walls. Bathroom was clean."

Four huge picture windows throughout the house allow for natural light and amazing views in every direction. The huge kitchen is fully equipped for any large holiday celebration, or simply to brew your favorite individual Keurig K-cup. The master suite is not only beautiful, but also includes a very comfortable king bed, and a peaceful sitting room connected by French doors. A hideaway bed with a double-sized mattress is available in this sitting room. The master bathroom has a large tub/shower and a handicap accessible jetted tub/shower for our guests with disabilities. There is also a chair lift available for those who need help accessing the lofted part of the house.

The loft is another large space for viewing miles of nature's beauty, to gather as a family, or to stream your favorite entertainment. For those who love to read or play games, the stately library features numerous books, games, and puzzles as well as a game table and comfortable seating. Both the loft and library have queen-sized hideaway beds. The bedroom on this upper floor has a sturdy queen/double lofted bed with easy access by wooden steps. Besides the master bedroom, there is a bedroom on the main floor with a twin daybed and twin trundle. This room also has a full-sized washer and dryer. Serenity Heights can sleep 14 guests in beds. We suggest sleeping only12 adults for your maximum comfort.

Outside of the house, there is plenty of room to run, walk, and play. If relaxing is more your speed, we've got that covered as well. There are many outdoor spaces for guest to experience retreat from the stress of life, especially in spring, summer, and fall. The front covered porch is one of the favorite places for guests. The bed swing makes a comfortable seat or bed for viewing the scenery. The small metal table and chairs is also available for an outdoor eating nook. The large back covered porch with extensive outdoor seating and gas grill connects to an expansive uncovered deck with an outdoor table and chairs. A second story deck providing another table and chairs is accessible from the library. Finally, the large gravel fire pit with eight high-quality Adirondack chairs provides an amazing setting year-round to make memories around a cozy campfire. This 3 bedroom, 1 bath centrally located house is the perfect place for your family to stay while visiting Chariton and the surrounding area! Much more convenient and comfortable than a motel, you will have a living room, fully equipped kitchen, as well as laundry facilities in the (unfinished) basement. Weldon Farm Cabin is a 3 bedrooms, 2 bath house––3 bedrooms with queen size beds –– master with private bath. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen with island and dining area, seating for 6. This is a beautiful lake front home on Sun Valley Lake in Ellston, IA. We have arguably one of the best views on the entire lake and a brand new large deck to enjoy it from.

I have a small log cabin located in the rolling hills of northern Missouri. It’s a nice quiet place for a weekend getaway. Most days you can watch wildlife travel across the open area on the front lawn. The cabin has a loft with a queen bed and full bed. Access to the loft is by ladder type stairs. Not far from a couple small towns for groceries. Several lakes within 30 miles if fishing or kayaking is desired. A few walking trails on the property and lots of scenic gravel roads to just drive around and explore. I have added an extra space in the basement it’s basically set up as it’s very own apt with everything the upstairs has kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom so if 2 couples would like to get away together the extra space can also be rented for an extra cost. It’s been brought to my attention that some where this states not suitable for children (not sure why) children are welcome. That being said I do not have a playground area set up yet but there are plenty of outdoor activities for them such as nature walks and exploring.

2 bedroom 2 bathroom waterfront home sleeps 8. Located just 1 hour and 15 minutes south of Des Moines in Ellston, IA. Full kitchen with breakfast bar has everything you need for a nice stay. Screened in porch to relax and large outdoor patio gives enough space for your family get away. Jump out on the lily pad, take a spin in one of the kayaks, or hop on the stand up paddle board. Enjoy the firepit with provided wood overlooking the lake after spending the day in the water and experience the dark sky full of stars that will take your breath away. We rent our home only when we cannot personally be there as our kids baseball and softball schedules keep us away a certain number of weekends during the summer. This is an older home, far from brand new, but lots of outdoor & deck area to enjoy a quick getaway to the lake without having to travel far. Very quiet in rural southern Iowa surrounded by farmland.

And being so remote, there was not a lot of choices for restaurants. The beach was a little bit out of the way and not much of a beach. A lake front house on a 500 acre private lake with a dock on the property, 80 feet of shoreline, swimming in the cove under mature trees. Kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boat, and a swim pad are available for guest use. Separate fire pit area as well as deck and covered patio with a grill for outdoor enjoyment. Fishing is NOT allowed unless the guests are members of the association. Fines will be applied to renters who aren't members who fish at the lake. Only boats registered to the association members are allowed on the water.

WiFi is not provided but there is a Verizon tower near by and Verizon cell service is good. TVs are located in the house with DVD players, but cable is not available.

Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed and closet, bedroom 2 has a full size bed, and there is a futon and twin pull out in the living area. The house is on a 2 acre lot with our house next door so the yard space is shared (no fence separating).

Our 2 bedroom house has been fully remodeled. The house features a full kitchen, full bathroom with washer and dryer, and a comfy living room for several to sit around and watch a good movie. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils. Our floors are LVP and pet friendly. Enjoy our gas grill all year round and sit around the fire pit and have your bbq dinner. Our ranchhouse is nestled in the rolling hills of southern Iowa. Here you can embrace nature and see the stars. Our Wildlife, Wildflower, & Wild West themed bedrooms are on one level with comfortable queen size beds. Try out our porch swing or cooking on our woodburning stove. Brinkmeyer Family Ranch-raised beef, honey & 'Fields of Joy' beef tallow soaps & lotions are available to buy. Our quaint ranchhouse is unique and the property is expansive. If you're looking for a cozy place to relax, get some fresh air, or experience a breathtaking sunset, you will find that here. Your dog is welcome, but please - no dogs in the beds, and please clean up after your dog in our houseyard. For your convenience we keep our kitchen stocked with plenty of coffee and teas for you to brew, a sampling of our honey from the ranch, cooking oil, sugar and a variety of spices. The kitchen is fully equipped. We'll have some of our ranch-raised beef in the freezer portion of the refrigerator (for purchase). We have a gas grill on-site or you can cook over the fire outdoors or atop our woodburning stove in the living room. There is cast iron cookware in the kitchen to use for those purposes. Give it a try! We have plenty of towels to use in the bathroom, shampoos, soaps, and a hair-dryer. There's also an iron and ironing board downstairs to use if you need it. Additional bedding and pillows are available for floor mattresses. We hope you'll feel right at home at our ranchhouse.

Guest access
Guests are welcome in our ranchhouse and the houseyard. Safety first: a ranch representative must be contacted to discuss our pastures and timber. We are continually rotating pastures which involves moving cattle from one part of the ranch to another. Please contact the host before exploring outside the houseyard. Thank you.

Other things to note
We are actively involved in ongoing environmental improvements of our ranch along with providing the best care possible for our livestock. These are thoughtful, intentional practices, requiring their own expense budget line, including building five additional erosion control ponds - added to the ten already in place. All 15 ponds help prevent soil erosion and enable us to utilize only the flow of gravity and pure rainwater as our cow herd's only water source. We closely monitor, and continually rotate cow groups from pasture to pasture, so that their feed source made up of grasses, clovers and other legumes remains fresh. This allows at least 3 out of every 4 pastures to rest, recover and regrow for an estimated 75% of the growing season. This rotational grazing system helps keep our soils from eroding and progressively more healthy. We harvest large round bales from our alfalfa fields to use as feed for our cows during winter months. Cover crops are another important environmental practice we have established. Utilizing the unused nutrients in our rich soils after the primary crops are grown with 100% no-till crop production, provides not only the environmental benefit of keeping nutrients on the ranch, it enhances appropriate nutrient balance of our soils, and also provides an efficient feed source for our herd. Our tillable crop ground contains a minimum of 10% grassed waterways and edge-of-field grasses to prevent soil erosion from Iowa's often heavy rainfall events. We strongly support and encourage the utilization of cover crops to rebuild organic matter that has been lost through previous generations, as one additional way that we can be responsible agriculturalists. Our timber and pastures are picturesque, and Decatur County is well known for some of the best trophy white-tail deer in the country. (We can show you several examples from our ranch). Water fowl, and game birds, like turkey, pheasant, quail, along with pollinators have made their homes on our ranch, alongside our cow/calf herd. Our strong environmental practices benefit the wildlife, and enhance the growth of wildflowers, along with clover, alfalfa and other legumes that also support pollinators. All pollinators, including our own honey bee hives, benefit from these practices.

Hidden in the heart of Grand River is our Studio apartment called Palmers Hideaway,. This unit is perfect for 1 or 2 travelers. The large space features high ceilings, a queen bed and a queen sleeper sofa. Just outside the door is a gas grill and a large shared burn pit.

Palmers Lodge features a large open space for up to 6 people to share. There are (2) bunk beds with full under and twin over. A comfy pull out sofa is tin the large area. The large full kitchen with plenty of cooking utensils, pots, pans and dishes accommodates multiple guests at the same time. Just outside the front door is a gas grill and in the back yard is a large burn pit with plenty of seating. The unit features hardy vinyl flooring and with an additional fee we allow dogs. Tall ceilings, and lots of light make this unit feel spacious.
