Swiftwater which sleeps 6 is a perfect place to stay whether you are hiking on the one-mile Lake Ridge Trail to explore for birds or Bald Eagle, boating on the 5,000-acre Falls of Rough Lake, or going to the beautiful lodge to dine, or attending one of their many events. The A-frame log cabin is surrounded by oak and pine trees that give lots of privacy to enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature. The cabin has 2 bedrooms with queen beds in each room and a sleeper sofa in the living room. One of the bedrooms has a jetted jacuzzi tub plus a large walk-in shower and the other has a full tub/bath shower. The kitchen and living room are an open concept with a stone fireplace to enjoy on those cool nights and a large screen TV above. The kitchen is equipped with all the amenities you will need to enjoy your stay and we provide a few trash bags, paper towels, dishwashing soap, and sample coffee for your arrival. A full-size washer and dryer is available with detergent if needed. A gas grill is located outside for barbecuing with grilling utensils inside the kitchen. The basement still has a bar area that is unfinished, but there is a great game room for entertaining in the evening or on rainy days! Nick’s Boat Dock does rent pontoons, which is an option for those without a boat, or you could head less than two miles down the road to the north fork campground beach to enjoy a couple days of just swimming.

Full Disclosure: There are security cameras located on the perimeter of the house for monitoring the property, since this property is in a relatively rural area. These cameras are only reviewed when there has been an issue with the property or a specific group. There are also 146 steps to get down to the water.

- "We had a group of 11 friends and family scattered across the country who were seeking a somewhat centralized location to gather and enjoy some low key time together. This property fit the bill perfectly! From the earliest planning stages (a full year beforehand) to while we were actually onsite, Brandon was in regular communication with us to address any and all concerns or questions that we had (and things did get complicated with date and guest count changes). So absolutely first rate in that regard. The property itself is beautiful and extremely functional- it should meet the needs of any group ranging in size from 6 to 12 people (more if you don't mind using pull out sofa-beds, etc.). Slight ding on the cleanliness at check-in due to some things the cleaning service had missed, but I am confident these were an isolated occurrence. Overall, a wonderful VRBO experience!"

The property offers approximately 2000 sf of living space, and will sleep 8-10 comfortably. The main level features an open concept kitchen/ living room with propane fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with all the essentials, many spices, condiments, filtered water at both the refrigerator and at the sink. There is an additional refrigerator on the lower level. In the main floor you'll also find a bedroom with king size bed, full bathroom with laundry facilities. The loft area features 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds and a huge Big Joe for lounging.
Lower level features a separate master bedroom with king size bed (with additional folding cot in closet), a full bathroom large open area with additional couch, recliner and T.V. (dvds only) a pub table and stools, another refrigerator and full size pool table. The lower level has walkout to fire pit area in the backyard and a dirt path that leads down to the lake.
Since we value our lake time, there is currently no WIFI or cable here at the Nest, but we do have kayaks (2) with life vests, fishing poles (2) and plenty of pool noodles to use during your stay. Spend your rainy days or evenings playing a board game with your kids or watch one of several movies available. The Nest is the perfect place to reconnect with family and friends, enjoy quality time together and make memories that with last a lifetime. We love our time at Rough River and hope you will as well.
Rent a pontoon for the day at Nick's Boat Dock or head over to Rough River State Park to enjoy the beach, tennis or a hike on their nature trail. Great place for families and friends to come together.

During the colder months, lake levels may drop, presenting a unique opportunity to hike and explore the fascinating lake bottom. ***As of 5/13/23, we want our guests to be aware that this year’s lake levels will be five feet lower due to dam repairs. Rest assured, swimming and fishing remain enjoyable, and launching a boat from the state park ramp will still be available. We are also working on relocating our docks further up the shore to enhance access to the water during this time. We can't wait to welcome you to our slice of paradise!8

Two of the bathrooms are shower tubs and the 3rd bath is a newly tiled shower. This home has adequate patio furniture and deck space to help your family relax and enjoy the scenery.

I do think that in the ad for the property it could be made clearer that there is no access to the lake. Our host Mitch was very communicative and answered all my questions promptly and detailed. He gave us more tips of what to do than what we had time for! There’s not much in terms of going out to eat in the area, but we like to grill and cook, so we didn’t have any problems. Dave’s pizza is not far, and their pizza is great, and the staff fantastic."

There are two, two person kayaks that can be carried to the waters edge. We are a mile away from Rough Rivers Sandy Beach hang out spot. Our boat launch is very convenient and located 2 tenths of a mile from this home. We also have 2 other cabins in the area that will accommodate a need for large groups who want to be close. The two cabins are Creekside Retreat and A Frame of Mind. We are also a side by side and golf cart friendly community if you would like to take evening rides around the neighborhood. Feel free to bring one along.

This is half of a duplex with an open floor plan, a primary bedroom, a bedroom loft, a full bathroom with shower and a fully outfitted kitchen. Just step out from the family room to enjoy your morning coffee with a beautiful sunrise, evening drinks, or even dinner on the private HUGE deck overlooking the beautiful lake. A 5-8 minutes drive gets you to the Rough River Dam State Park and all their amenities.

In addition to the dedicated oversized deck with furniture, dining table, ceiling fans and a gas grill, the outdoors offers a fire pit and additional lookout deck that is shared with the other unit in the duplex. There's plenty of parking for several cars and even a towed boat in the semi-circular gravel drive. The community around the lake offers several fantastic restaurants, boat rentals, kayak rentals, festivals and activities.

There is no direct lake access, but there are plenty of options for lake activities close by. I'm happy to make recommendations for your visit.

From this cozy, casual home, we could see pretty sunrises, even more colorful sunsets, and people fishing from boats on the lake. There is no access to the lake, however, as the home is on a small but steep cliff. But the state park is only a short drive away. We enjoyed the rockers and other well-made sturdy furniture on the deck. We took walks down the quiet rural street. The unit was well stocked and had everything we needed. Plenty of hot water for showers. Wi-fi was good. My daughter had no problem streaming movies."

A-Frame of Mind is a spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bath home that was completely remodeled spring of 2021. We are located in a scenic lakeside community on fabulous Rough River Lake. We are 300 yards away from a community boat launch with parking at top of hill should you decide to bring your boat or kayak. No need to climb hills with coolers and so on. The boat launch is close and convenient. The home offers large kitchen with island and all the amenities. You’ll have wireless internet connection. We have a TV in the family room and one upstairs with a play station. We have a large dining room table with plenty of room for the whole family. The home offers covered porches front and back as well as a large deck equipped with a gas grill and ample seating. We have a fire pit in the back yard stocked with dry firewood for roasting marshmallows or just simply enjoying conversation around a fire. We have two full bathrooms both with walk in showers. The home does have a washer and dryer. A Frame of Mind is centrally located in the heart of Rough River Lake. We are 10 miles from Rough River State Park which offers dining, boat rental, a beach, Friday night concerts, and many more activities as well as a small airport. We are 15 minutes from Lafayette Golf course. It is located 20 minutes outside of Leitchfield and 45 minutes to Bowling Green and about an hour to Mammoth Cave. You can access the lake at the boat launch area for fishing and swimming as well. We are a golf cart, side by side, 4 wheeler friendly community. Bring yours along and enjoy some sight seeing around our large lakeside community.There is also typically nightly deer viewing from the front and back porches. We also have 2 other homes within 1 mile of this location in the same neighborhood that sleeps 8 and 6. All 3 homes have plenty of parking which is a rarity among lake homes. Plenty of room for multiple trucks with boats in tow.
