This house is really suitable for 3 families. Bed configuration not suitable for lots of singles.

The cleaning fee Is a compulsory as the house is always checked and thoroughly cleaned prior for every guests arrival. All surfaces are cleaned and disinfected and extra special cleaning in light of the recent covid 19 virus prior to all guests arriving.

PLEASE NOTE : Bedding supplied but you need to bring your own linen (sheets, pillowcases and towels.) Linen can be supplied as an extra cost. Also as are all the houses in Castlepoint tank water is the main source of all water please be aware especially in summer to conserve water. We use it for drinking but you may wish to bring your own drinking water

Walker's retreat is a great private bach sitting on the beach, this bach is off the grid but still has all the comforts of home with solar power and battery bank, the golf course and Whakataki pub are 15 minutes drive away. Have breakfast in the sun on the front deck over the sea and evening drinks to catch the last of the sun in the evening on the grass area out back.

On chilly evenings the house is very cosy with under floor heating.

India House is a rustic, charming (original 1866) 3 bedroom stand-alone cottage, located in the grounds of the Ica Station Homestead at Whareama, close to the beach resort of Riversdale. Situated at the end of a ‘no exit’ road, simply enjoy the peace and quiet of an early settler cottage, steeped in history, in the beautiful countryside setting of Ica Station. Originally built in 1866, today ‘India House’ offers our visitors comfortable, clean, rustic accommodation and a location with interesting early NZ rural character. The cottage is quaint and still enjoys many of its original features. It has 3 small twin bedrooms (with the option for Bedroom 1 to be a King size), a living room, small dining kitchen and inside bathroom with flushing toilet and an outside flushing toilet. With uninterrupted views over a small lake and beautiful countryside, here you can relax, read a book, have a glass of wine and listen to the birds in the peaceful and extremely private setting of this cottage. All our guests have use of a swimming pool and spa pool at the main Homestead during their stay! With Riversdale and Otahome Beaches only 15 mins drive away and Castlepoint Beach 35 mins in the opposite direction, this bach is an ideal base for surfers, fishermen, golfers, couples or groups of friends to explore the East Coast of the Wairarapa!. There's plenty to see and do in the area. Nearby Riversdale and Castlepoint offer superb Golf Courses, a local store for food and basic groceries, Tennis Courts, Swimming, Fishing, Surfing, Walking, Diving and Boating. Or Otahome, where you often have the beach to yourselves. Close by is the village of Tinui that has the oldest ANZAC Memorial Cross you can walk up to (Nov - Apr annually).

The frogs sang for us (relaxing). The pool and spa a treat. Beaches near by for the girls boogie boards. We stayed 10 nights and did not get bored. Do note no Wifi in the cottage so not a place for a work getaway (phew!) and kids need to be more creative - but very doable!! :-) You can access WIFI on property and bring DVDs. Hosts were fabulous. You just cannot get a better spot to be able to put your feet up and watch the sea roll in.
Go for a walk up the beach, throw a rod into the surf, or swim in the sea or the lagoon which is great for the kids just in front of the house.
Paua and crayfish just in front of the house.
It's only 10 minutes to Castlepoint or the Whakataki Hotel where you can get a great meal or takeaways and a drink.
While you are there you should always walk the lighthouse or for the brave do the castle rock walk.
You can go fishing off the rocks at Castlepoint where the kahawai and gurnard hang out.

Ica Station 'Whare' (an original historic Shepherds' Quarters) offers our visitors comfortable, clean, rustic accommodation in a location with interesting early NZ rural character. Situated at the end of a 'no exit' road, simply enjoy the peace and quiet of an early settler 'Whare', in the beautiful country side setting of Ica Station Homestead and grounds.

The unit has a queen bedroom, a living/dining area, kitchenette and inside shower room with flushing toilet. With views over the garden, here you can relax, read a book, have a glass of wine and listen to the birds in the peaceful setting of the unit. Next door is the main homestead with B and B accommodation where ALL our guests have shared use of the swimming pool and spa pool during their stay.

With Riversdale and Otahome Beaches only 15 minutes drive away and the Castlepoint Beach 35 minutes in the opposite direction, this bach is an ideal base for couples to explore the East Coast of the Wairarapa!

There's plenty to see and do in the area. Nearby Riversdale and Castlepoint offer superb Golf Courses, Tennis Courts, Swimming, Fishing, Surfing, Walking, Diving and Boating, plus local store. Or Otahome, where you often have the beach to yourselves. Close by is the village of Tinui that has a Cafe and Bar, Craft Shop and Living Historic Village as well as the oldest Anzac Memorial Cross which now has a public access walkway up to it from the Cemetery (Nov - Apr annually).

Check-in is available from 1.30pm and check-out by 10.30am.
