The deck you see in the photos is a large shared area accessed from the upstairs hall. It has gorgeous views and makes a perfect place to sit and have a glass of wine in the early evenings. There is a shaded patio area underneath it on the ground floor for when the weather is too warm to sit in the sun.

The kitchen is fully equipped and you can store food and prepare dinner right here when you don’t feel like sampling our excellent restaurants and wine bistros in Old Town. There is a small dining table at the window that faces Arizona’s fabulous red rocks that you will view over the walled backyard. When the sun goes down you will enjoy our starry nights since there are no streetlights here. The trees in the backyard become a wonderful twinkling light show for your delight.
If you wish to sample our Verde Valley, you will be delighted to find that you are less than 30 minutes away from Sedona, Jerome, 3 State Parks, 2 National Monuments, 2 bird sanctuaries and much more. Did we mention that this is wine country? There are more than 25 wine tasting rooms and several fully operational vineyards here. Clarkdale is a quiet little town, but there is a great deal happening all around it. For example, there is a community college with a vineyard and a maze of hiking trails at the college at the end of our street.

We had to change the original dates we reserved, quick and easy. While we were there, we made a phone call and they were able to come over and help us, ultimately we sorted it out on our own but was appreciative of the accessibility! We also enjoyed the outside patio. Beds are comfortable. The place is very clean. Jon was available to answer questions. We are located midway between Old Town Cottonwood and Jerome (just 4 miles from both). Clarkdale is an historic mining town that once housed the smelter for the Jerome mines. Sedona is an easy 25 minute drive, and Prescott just an hour away.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets).

The kitchens are fully equipped with everything you need for dining and cooking.

THE SPACE

The Clarkdale Lodge is an historic building that was built in 1914 and originally used as a boarding house for unmarried employees of the local copper smelter. It was subsequently converted into apartments which we are now modernizing to a high standard while preserving historic details where possible. All apartments are tastefully furnished and have HDTV's in both sitting and bedrooms. High speed Internet access is provided throughout via WiFi, and kitchens are fully equipped and ready to use.
The deck you see in the photos is a large shared area accessed from the upstairs hall. It has gorgeous views and makes a perfect place to sit and have a glass of wine in the early evenings. There is a shaded patio area underneath it on the ground floor for when the weather is too warm to sit in the sun.

GUEST ACCESS

In addition to the apartment you are staying in, all guests have access to a public sitting area upstairs stocked with books and games, and a second story view deck overlooking the Verde Valley.

The popular historic mining town of Jerome is seven miles up the mountain, while the spectacular red rocks of Sedona are less than thirty minutes away. Many guests book the casita as a home base to explore the local award-winning wineries and wine tasting rooms that are part of the Verde Valley Wine Trail.

Some important things of note:
The fireplace is non-functional and decorative only.
No smoking or vaping is allowed anywhere inside the casita or on the property.
It is not a walkable community, you will need a car to visit local attractions and restaurants.
There is direct access to the river from the casita on a rustic trail.
The casita is not safe or suitable for children under 12 as there is a steep, rocky drop off in the guest courtyard.
The casita is located within the same walled enclosure as the main house which is occupied full-time by the owner and two dogs. We also have a neighbor on the other side of the casita. We are very respectful of the privacy of our guests. The casita has two sets of shades, blackout as well as semi-transparent, on each window.
The guest area of the courtyard has been landscaped with plants and bamboo fencing to give a sense of privacy and views of the surrounding land are unimpeded by buildings.
As the guest house shares a courtyard with the main house the two resident dogs (Arya, the German Shepherd, and Otis, the Toy Fox Terrier) may hang out with you if you are outside. They are very friendly and love people!

Recently renovated apartment in an historic building. The Lodge was a rooming house for unmarried mine employees when it was built in 1916. We've modernized the apartments while retaining the historic details like the original sash windows and five panel doors. Located right on the park just off Main St. in historic Clarkdale, we are also perched on the edge of a bluff overlooking Bitter Creek with views to the north of Sedona's red rocks, and to the south, Jerome and Mingus Mountain.

This house is comprised of a large 12 x 30 studio room with a True North and Southern light divide.
Ideal for painting, sketching, modeling, and still lifes. The other half is a cozy cool retreat with a wood-burning stove, a secluded bedroom, and a compact yet remarkably practical kitchen.

The still open land in the front gives a nice panoramic feel with views of Mingus Mountian, Jerome, and Clarkdale.
From the back, an elevated flagstone patio assists in comfortably seeing the classic redrock horizon enjoyed at sunset in the Verde Valey.

The Home has a full bath with a Jacuzzi tub and a half bath as well. There are 4 smart TVs throughout all 1080 or higher. The kitchen is reasonably well-equipped and includes 4 styles of coffee makers.
I am looking for someone to stay for one to 3 months.

The area is cool and has a different feel than staying in the typical suburb. Quiet with little traffic. See, Centerville, the name of the community was a segregated area for Hispanics 100 years ago. Legend is Centerville is the exact center geographically of the state of Arizona.

Today Centerville is a quiet, tranquil setting, overlooked in the development craze. Historically safe with little or no crime and good neighbors from all backgrounds and walks of life. There are these funky art houses scattered throughout the neighborhood of mostly trailers and old adobe houses.

- "I was excited to stay here. It allowed the cat and the price was right. Communication with the honor was good and the house seemed as represented. However, the owner was there when I arrived which I found surprising. I only ended up staying here a month instead of three. The number one reason my stay was not satisfactory was because of the owner letting me know about a week or two after I had been staying there that he wanted to get the house ready to sell. This involved him making renovations while I wasn’t there and also showing the house. When I said I did want to stay under those conditions he agreed and refunded me the remaining amount. Overall everything ended amicably, but I would clarify with the owner what his intentions are before staying."

Penumbra is a short two-minute drive to the charming boutiques and restaurants of Old Town Cottonwood. The popular historic mining town of Jerome is seven miles up the mountain, while the spectacular red rocks of Sedona are less than thirty minutes away. Many guests book Penumbra as a home base to explore the local award-winning wineries and wine tasting rooms that are part of the Verde Valley Wine Trail. We are also surrounded by many beautiful local hiking trails and are right above the river which can be accessed via our rustic hiking trail.

Penumbra has an on-site gravel parking lot with free parking. A car is recommended to explore the area.

No smoking, vaping, drugs or weapons are allowed anywhere on the property, inside or outside.
Due to our cleaning schedule, we cannot accommodate early checkins or late checkouts. Failure to depart by the stated checkout time without prior arrangement will result in a $150 charge.

No drugs, weapons, fighting, parties, vaping, smoking (including cannabis), burning incense or use of essential oils, open flames, loud noises, illegal activities, or disruptive actions are allowed anywhere on the property. Any deliberate disruption, illegal activity, abusive behavior or tampering with provided services, spaces, property or items on the property can be cause for cancellation of your reservation with no refund and/or fees to be assessed. If we receive a complaint regarding a violation of any of these rules from a Penumbra guest or from anyone else, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation immediately without refund. If you have a complaint about any aspect of the amenities, cleanliness, or overall condition, please reach out to us within the first 2 hours of check-in. Upon notifying us of your complaint, you authorize us to enter the property and remedy the problem to the standards you require or we may cancel your reservation. No refunds will be given for unreported issues.

If staying with a service animal we require the following:
1. Owners must keep all dogs on leash at all times when outside the suite.
2. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture or beds.
3. Dogs are not allowed to be left alone in the suite at any time.
4. Owners must clean up after their dogs.

We do not allow any Airbnb third-party experiences or services at the property.
