Beautiful Rocky Mountain Retreat is located 20 minutes west of Flagstaff, towards Williams and the Grand Canyon, at 7500 ft elevation and is surrounded by 3 secluded acres of tall Ponderosa Pines. This immaculate cabin is beautifully decorated and fully furnished with all the modern amenities. There are amazing views of forest from every window! There are 2 bathrooms, one king-size bedroom, two queen-size bedrooms, and a fourth bedroom with a bunk bed with a full-size on the bottom and twin on top. There is also a pull-out queen sofa-bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern appliances you could need and full sets of serving and cooking utensils for entertaining. The game room has a pool table, a large TV, and a sectional full of recliners. Free wireless internet is available (hopefully for fun not work :-). There is also a full-size washer and dryer. Hair dryers, curling irons and basic toiletries are included. There are plenty of cozy pillows and blankets . You can curl up in front of the stone fireplace and watch the wildlife outside. Outside the Cabin: If you love seclusion and views of hundreds of pine trees, this is the cabin for you! The large wraparound deck is great for outdoor family meals. Then relax with some marshmallows around the campfire or watch the swaying trees or bright stars as you lay in the hammock. Or enjoy the propane fire pit watching the stars from the back deck. A propane Weber grill is also located on the back deck. Children will love the tree house with slide and hammock, swing sets, and horseshoes. There is a huge selection of board games, videos and DVDs as well as 4 TVs. Nearby hiking and off-roading trails abound. The Grand Canyon Deer Farm/Petting Zoo and Oak Hill Snowplay area (in winter), and Bearizona are only minutes away. There are several small lakes nearby, as well as the Lava Cave and breath-taking Sycamore Canyon hiking/rock climbing area. The area around our cabin is abundant with elk.

The Area: Rocky Mountain Retreat offers a true sense of being away from it all, yet the town of and Flagstaff with over 200 restaurants, great night life and shopping is only 20 mins away. The historic Route 66 town of Williams is only 10 mins away, where you can catch the Grand Canyon Railway or Polar Express (in winter). The Grand Canyon is a 60 min drive, and fantastic Oak Creek Canyon/ Sedona is about 45 mins. There are two downhill ski resorts 30 and 45 mins away and a cross country ski trail just a couple minutes away. Snowbowl resort is at 11,500 ft elevation and offers 32 trails of great skiing/snowboarding; in the summer you can take the skyride to the top for panoramic views that include the Grand Canyon, and fantastic hiking. Your 1b, 1ba Cottage comes with a dual-heated, King bed and a pellet stove with a backup gas heater. The Cottage sits on 10 acres+, unlike 1-2 acre or less, packed areas like Kachina Village, Mountain Aire, Baderville, Doney Park, or Sherwood Forest, which are tightly packed neighborhoods. These “city neighborhood styled areas” are NOT desirable; mixed communities with nice houses and junk properties intermingled and virtually no land or easy forest/wildland access.

At The Cottage, you will not be in a suburban or semi-rural neighborhood. You’ll be staying far from local cities. This is a free-standing, remote, deep-in-the forest place with a gorgeous view of the famous Spring Valley and mountain views of Mt. Sitgreaves. No Pit Bulls or Rottweilers, however. Over 500 canine guests so far.

As remote as this may be, you'll be safe and secure as we are here on property to assist in any unusual or emergency situation. We have never had such an occurrence. However, we do have clear and efficient plans for any unexpected emergency. We have many motion sensor night lights.

Walk freely on our 10 acre property plus its 30 acre add’l fenced forest land or just head out onto walking/ski trails to Spring Valley Tank where elk, antelope and deer get their water. Continue your hike on 1000s upon 1000s of acres on the Sitgreaves mountain range or Spring Valley Knoll.

Fishing at local lakes most Spring, Summer and Fall. Many lakes are nearby in Williams including Cataract, Kaibab, Dogtown and White Horse lakes.

Grand Canyon a little over an hour due North. Bearizona drive-thru wildlife park about 13 miles West. Sedona and its Red Rock majesty about an hour SE. Meteor Crater and Painted Desert about 45 mins East. Out of Africa wildlife park and indoor shooting range about 1:15 SE. Verde Valley Railroad in Clarkdale, next to Cottonwood. SnowBowl winter ski resort and its Summer Fun activities nearby in Flagstaff.

Folks often ask how close walking trails are. Start at The Cottage’s door and virtually head out! Take a 2 mile RT flat walk to Spring Valley Tank, a very popular watering hole for all thirsty wildlife around here on the Spring Valley X-Country Ski Trail. Take a hike or dirt bicycle ride to Shulz Pass and see its gorgeous high mountain meadows about 1 mile past Spring Valley Tank. Or for near 360 degree views of most of Northern Arizona’s highest peaks plus a glimpse of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, take a 4 mile hike due East to Lone Tree Lookout, about 1/2 mile past Spring Valley Knoll. And if you dare and you’re in high altitude climbing condition, try mountain hiking to the peak of Mt. Sitgreaves due West of here. No fire roads. No trails unless you stumble upon an elk trail.

NO SMOKING OUTSIDE OR OFF THESE TWO VERY SPECIFIC AREAS. NO SMOKING ON TRAILS NOR ANYWHERE IN SURROUNDING NATIONAL FOREST. Fires in the forest are a major concern here no matter what official bans may be in place or not. Official bans may include a ban on outdoor smoking and allow smoking in your vehicle only.

Horseback riding is usually available year ‘round, limited by weather and ground conditions (mud/snow). Smooth sole riding/cowboy boots mandatory (we rent boots @ $5 per ride). Other mandatory wear: long sleeve shirt, long pants (no shorts), jeans preferred (no leggings, comfy pants, or jogging outfits), ski clothing OK in Winter, waterproof clothing/rain gear during Summer monsoons (June 20 - Sept 20), well-lined or heated gloves in Winter, thick or heated socks in Winter, sunglasses recommended in Summer and if snow cover is >50%, and long Johns or layers in Winter. We saddle. Free but mandatory acquainting where you groom, pick hooves, do ground work and ride in small areas to start. Then, we will rate your comfort, confidence and control and set riding limits accordingly: on our roads only, in the 3 acre fenced pasture, our 30 acre fenced property, or ride off property. All off property rides require a guide.

Hosted target shooting may be available at additional cost that varies depending on weapons chosen and cost of their ammunition. Ask for quotation, scheduling and availability. Strictly supervised. Our cabin was built with our own hands, every log was laid and chinked with love. It sits on a 10 acre parcel, and the national forest is our backyard. Big windows to see the beautiful ponderosa pine forest, with elk and deer passing by. Spacious living area, with a fully equipped kitchen. You cannot see our neighbors, for they are all acres away. If you want a glamorous campsite, then our place is for you. Lots of trails for hiking, biking. skiing and your OHV's. We also have central cooling and heating for your convenience and Starlink WIFI! Nearest amenities are 10 miles away. We are south of the Grand Canyon, in Parks, Az. Relax after a long hike in our large Jacuzzi!

Flagstaff is just 25-30 minutes away and is a great place to experience one of the many unique restaurants/shops. Or you might wish to visit Arizona Snowbowl for some downhill skiing (located right outside of Flagstaff). The cabin is also a fun 25 minutes drive to Williams, AZ and 65 miles from the Grand Canyon. Take a scenic train ride from Williams to Grand Canyon. You will enjoy this historic ride!

The home is equipped with a whole house ventilation system, which keeps the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This ensures a comfortable stay year-round, no matter the season.
Our home does not have central heat. It is heated via the large fireplace in the living room and multiple space heaters spread throughout the sleeping areas.

The two bedrooms in the home are quite large, very private, quiet and relaxing. Each bedroom is like a private suite with large couches, private decks, large screen TVs, lots of books, and beautiful views.

The master bedroom has a brand new king size, memory foam mattress, comfortable seating areas, built-in bookshelves, a 65" ultra HD TV, and an expansive deck with beautiful views of the surrounding forest. The master bedroom has a full en suite bathroom.

In the second bedroom you'll experience a top quality queen mattress. There is a very large and comfortable seating area in the second bedroom with a 60" 4K TV and excellent sound system. The guest bathroom includes a powerful jetted tub with mood lighting and heater. The second bedroom also includes a private deck and a separate salon (i.e. dressing/make-up room).

For extra guests, a queen air-mattress is available and a futon is available as well. A pack and play and play pen are available for our youngest guests.

The home's kitchen is outfitted with plenty of dishware, silverware, pots & pans, a large oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Typically there is plenty of coffee and tea in the pantry and condiments in the refrigerator for your use. A highchair is available in the kitchen as well.

There are large decks with incredible views looking out towards the Kaibab National Forest. If you enjoy nature, there are marked hiking trails directly behind the home with several benches placed for watching the wildlife.

Additional amenities include Starlink WiFi, a DVD player with DVD library, over 100 recorded movies, many shelves of books (including children's), puzzles, and a propane gas grill. - "Very beautiful home, quiet location and responsive owners" - "We had a very nice stay! The property was in a pretty area removed from high traffic but close enough to Williams and Grand Canyon. One odd thing about it… no window coverings in the back including the bathroom. Didn’t really like the lack of privacy there but overall a great stay! Very Well stocked" - "The cabin was as advertised. The bedrooms were quite large. The property was quite large also. The kitchen had all of the amenities we needed for several days of staying here. One day we were snowed in but we were fine. The kids could play in the snow and then come inside to warm up with some Netflix. The owner had a guy plow the driveway but it snowed another several inches. We managed to shovel ourselves out and put on very necessary snow chains. A few neighbors came by to help us out too. Overall, we had a great time!"

This beautiful cabin that we refer to as"The Ponderosa," is located on the edge of theKaibabforest, which provides our guests with a stunning view.

It has a full kitchen, 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms include 1 king & 2 queen beds. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, pots & pans. On the north & east sides of this relaxing retreat is the forest, along with a picnic table, BBQ grill & fire ring with patio chairs.

We call it 'The Ponderosa' because it's surrounded by tall Ponderosa pines. Given that Arizona has the largest spread of this particular, highly desired tree in the U.S we thought this title would be very appropriate. Looking east on a quiet evening, especially during a full moon, the Elk come in so close you can hear them pull the grass up. You may also hear the coyotes howling at night, in the far distance gathering up their pack.

We provide a TV & DVD player. Nature provides much more than we possibly could.

The Fireplace is decorative only.

Please note that there are five beautiful cabins on site that are different sizes. All are unique and beautiful. This provides the perfect opportunity to bring families and friends together for reunions or other events.

This is a No-Smoking property.

Pets are considered, however we asked that you keep "4 on the floor" as we say in our house. Pets are not allowed on furniture or bedding. Also, please pick up after them outside. We usually allow one small to medium size dog. No vicious breeds. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. There is a $50 pet fee per dog.

The Parks Chalet is cute as a button. Located 17 miles west of Flagstaff near the historic railroad and on the way to the Grand Canyon this is a perfect home base to explore all that Northern Arizona has to offer. Only about a mile south of I-40 at exit 178 (Parks). This architect designed cabin is built in a very private setting, surrounded by Ponderosa Pine trees. It can be awkward renting STVR next to full time neighbors, Parks Chalet Borders the Kaibab National Forest with no neighbors next to you so you will have total privacy. Bring your ATV toys for your off road fun .

The kitchen and living room feature granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances with a beautiful electric fireplace. The sofa sleeper provides a very nice experience with the TV , electric fireplace, French doors, window views of the beautiful nature outside. The upstairs bedroom balcony has a small deck with a breath taking view. The outdoor paver patio features a gas fire pit, and barbecue grill with dining area. The back of the property has rocky cliffs great for exploring, hiking and at the top you can see San Francisco peaks. Animal lovers check out Bearizona and the deer farm located near by.

In the winter make sure you have SUV, Front wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle incase it snows.

Make yourself at home in this in this1850 square foot 2 story cabin in the pines. Watch for deer, elk, squirrels and blue-jays, as you enjoy your morning coffee on the main or master bedroom deck. Cuddle up in front of two gas burning woodstoves (one in master bedroom and one in first floor sitting area). Split floor plan has two bedrooms a sitting area (complete with TV, & DVD player) bathroom and laundry room, on the first floor. Upstairs is a large family room with entertainment system, dining area, kitchen, master bedroom, master bath, wrap around decks with excellent views. Find a fully stocked linen closet and kitchen with all the cooking utensils you will need. Plates, glasses, mugs and silverware are all provided.
