Our beautiful cabin, Hickman Hideaway, has everything you need to enjoy your relaxing vacation. Our 2,500+ sq. ft. chalet style vacation rental has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and features hardwood floors, a modern, fully-equipped kitchen with granite counters, microwave, stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and a BBQ on the deck. We have central heating in the winter and evaporative cooling on the main floor for those occasional warm summer afternoons, making Hickman Hideaway a truly year-round getaway. We are located in the heart of the Coconino National Forest, surrounded by tall pines with a view of Lake O’Dell. This is one of the best locations in all of Munds Park!

With three bedrooms we comfortably sleep six. On the lower level you will find the MASTER SUITE with a KING bed, dresser, clothing armoire, comfy chair, and en suite bathroom with shower. Both main floor bedrooms have QUEEN beds with pillow top mattresses, a dresser, chair, and ceiling fan. There is a full size crib in the middle main floor bedroom, with a pack-n-play, high chair and baby gates stored in the closet. Baby monitor and miscellaneous baby items are in the bottom dresser drawer. NOTE: Room in Loft is locked and is not part of the rental.

Both bathrooms have been remodeled. The main floor bathroom has a tub/shower. The lower level master en suite has a shower. With two bathrooms and showers your family won't have to argue over who goes first!

Floor to ceiling windows in the large vaulted ceiling family room look out to pine trees, distant neighbors and a view of the lake. There is a beautiful stone fireplace, two comfortable sofas, a flat screen TV with cable and Roku for your personal sign-in. What a wonderful way to enjoy the beautiful view! We have family-friendly DVDs, books and games for all ages.

The dining area table seats six, with additional seating for two at the eat-at bar. A card table with four chairs is also available.

The loft looks out beyond the pine trees to the lake beyond. In the open loft area is a recliner and lamp for reading or just relaxing. There is also a desk in case you really have to do online schooling or work from the cabin as it is a great place to work from. There is also a table on the other side of the loft for a second work station.

Challenge your friends/family to a game of darts, fooseball, pool, or cards in the recently renovated game room. TV and DVD player are also in the game room. A second stone fireplace is on this level, continuing the cabin feel. This fireplace has an electric insert which is also a space heater.

In the spring, summer or fall relax on the deck with lake views, tall pines, and squirrels running hither and yon! Perhaps you'd rather sneak off with a book, or nap in the hammock under the tall pines, seasonal. The patio table on the deck seats six, and the fire pit seats four.

If you play so hard you need to wash your clothing, we have full size washer and dryer in the laundry room on the main floor, including laundry soap and dryer sheets.

Munds Park is about 2 hours north of Phoenix, 18 minutes south of Flagstaff and 30 minutes from Sedona. You can head north to Snowbowl in about 50 minutes and the Grand Canyon is just 2 hours away for a nice day trip. Munds Park offers activities for all to enjoy - hiking, fishing, ATV riding and more.

Our community of Munds Park/Pinewood has fishing, hiking, off road trails and beautiful mountain scenery. If you sit quietly on our deck, the squirrels will run up and down the trees in front of you, and some evenings you might even catch a glimpse of a deer or elk. In the winter, when there is snow, there are many places to make snow angels, sled, and have your snow ball battles. Snowbowl Ski Resort is less than an hour away.

Winter generally brings snow (but not guaranteed!) that is wonderful for sledding, making snow men, snow angels, or just taking a walking and enjoying the hush of a winter wonderland. After playing in the snow it is great to come into the central heating and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa in front of the fireplace. Snow removal is provided for your check in, with shovels for you to maintain any snow fall under 5 inches. If there is more than 5 additional inches of snow during your stay, we will have the upper parking and a walkway cleared again, if necessary.

Spring is beautiful with the blooming wild flowers and perfect temperatures. It can surprise you with a May snowstorm, and the next day be a wonderful day to sit on the deck. The fire pit is a welcome addition to the cooler nights.

Summer will provide a 20 - 30º temperature drop from the Phoenix area, with fabulous days and nights that cool down even more, just in time for a relaxing drink on the back deck.

Fall brings the changing of the leaves, which seem to happen overnight. It almost sounds like you can hear the colors changing. Sit by the fire pit and watch the stars.

Now for the legal:

* We do not allow parties or large groups as we are in a family neighborhood.
* No smoking in the cabin or on the property. Smoking must be done in your car or on the street. There is always fire danger in the forest.
* Sorry, no pets. We love pets, but we have family and guests who choose to stay at Hickman Hideaway because it is animal dander free. They count on us keeping it that way. We hope you understand.
* We have security cameras. Full disclosure here, we have installed two security cameras on the front of the cabin. One faces the parking and walkway into the house, and has audio and records. The other looks over the parking area and does not record, or have audio. The cameras are turned off once the guest has checked in, and are turned back on the morning of check out. We often see wildlife wander around the area. We have our hopes of seeing an elk, but most likely it will just be the birds and squirrels.
* The upstairs loft room is locked as an owners retreat & not part of the rental. There is also a locked owners closet in the lower level that is not part of the rental.

We are an hour and 30 minutes from Phoenix and 15 minutes south of Flagstaff. There are several bars and restaurants in the park and a convenience store stocked with many supplies.

Property owners were responsive when we needed more propane for the grill and fire pit. Our cat loved the cabin as well. We would recommend to the owners to have a broom and dust pan available for guests to clean up better. Over all, we had a great experience and would recommend."
