My place is a quiet cabin in the woods hidden away just outside of the biggest city in Maine. Peaceful and private. My home is a country getaway with unique charm and has a feeling like no other. Close to downtown Portland, the Portland Jet Port, Freeport, beautiful Maine beaches, apple orchards, a Gorgeous wedding venue a mile away called Caswell Farm and close to trails for hiking or biking, my home has many options nearby. Its the perfect family vacation destination or business trip location. Wedding? It's a great spot for a family of 6 to stay. Looking for a romantic get away weekend? Look no further! Great spot for a honeymoon or anniversary celebration.

My place is set back off the road a bit. It has a good size front yard and a large back yard with ample areas for kids to run around, as well as a firepit. The perennial and annual gardens are kept natural and organic for the sake of all things wild and we love our greenhouse which is also used for wood storage in the winter.
There is a yurt on the property that is rented out as well. It is a separate listing so if you’re into glamping, this is the spot! It could also be an add on to the house if you have a big group. The driveway will be the only shared area so we ask guests to please respect each groups privacy.
Upon entering from the deck, you will find yourself in the hallway of hooks. The laundry room and the downstairs full bathroom are off the hook hallway. The bathroom has a clawfoot bathtub and other unique fixtures. The kitchen is next and its fully stocked with whatever you may need to cook at home. We provide coffee and tea while pantry items, condiments, herbs and spices are readily available. We added a Nespresso machine for those of you into that but at this time will not be providing the pods. Bring your own pods or they can be purchased at Shaws on Auburn st in Portland.
The next stop is the open concept dining room and living room. The dining room table can seat 4 and a highchair and the bar at the end of the kitchen can seat 4. The living room has a wrap around couch and a large screen tv. YouTube TV is provided. Firestick is used for streaming all your favorite apps. The woodstove is located here as well and the coziness is undeniable. If wood stoves are not your thing then no worries. There is a monitor heater that heats the whole house no problem.
Next, there are two doors heading into the downstairs bedroom which has a queen size bed and a super awesome heated mattress pad for those cold winter nights.
Next head up the stairs and enter the master bedroom which has the king size bed as well as the full size bed. High ceilings and a very unique shower are present here and are calling for a visit. The shower has a steam feature which is great for relaxation. There is a smaller tv with a dvd player and plenty of movies to choose from Also a chromecast player to stream with your apps.
My place is a very unique and magical space and I'm happy to help guests at anytime for any reason and to share this home that I am very proud of. Thanks for considering my place and feel free to ask any questions.
FYI I do have two security cameras located outside. One is on the front porch and the other is located on the side of the house pointed towards the driveway.
Lastly, please kindly book for the correct amount of people in your group as I do not allow parties or unauthorized guests. I aim to keep pricing competitive for groups of two so my listing price is set for two guests. After that four more people are allowed for a total of 6 guests with an extra person fee of 25$ per person per night after the initial 2. This fee helps pay for the extra cleaning, laundry and maintenance/utilities that occur with more guests. Lastly experience with a woodstove is preferred otherwise please use the monitor heater in winter.

This is the first level of our home on Highland Lake.

The house has been in my family since 1954. In 1983, the first level was created by my parents for their retirement home. It has been updated since then, but remains very close to what they created.

The second level was completely redone in 2017. Jennifer and Peter continue to live there for the Summers in Maine (mid-June to mid- September), and expect to be there while the guests are there.

The property was and continues to be set up as two separate residences. There is a connecting door, but we keep that locked when the house is occupied by two separate groups (guests and owners).

The first level is a walk-out onto a deck that is 7 feet above the level of the lake.

There is a dock with the water level 5 feet deep at the end.

We face the West, so you will get spectacular sunsets. The lake is 640 acres. It is located 20 minutes from Downtown Portland, and 40 minutes from Freeport, home to LL Bean.

When you enter the property you will notice our love of flowers and nature. You will have an assigned parking spot and private entrance. When entering the apartment you will feel a fun, relaxed, cozy, family friendly ambiance. The apartment has a private entrance through the back side garden and your own deck for a morning coffee or evening drink. The kitchen has everything you need to make delicious family meals and includes full size fridge, stove, dishwasher and microwave. The dining table is large and great not only for meals but you can also use the available games and puzzles for a fun evening at home. There is a washer and dryer inside the apartment. The living room has a tv with Roku and you can stream Netflix, Hulu or Discovery +. Both bedrooms have queen size beds and are tastefully decorated for a relaxing sleep. The bathroom has a large luxurious shower and complimentary toiletries and towels. There is AC during the summer and heating during the cold months. There is this is a no shoe inside home rule but please feel free to bring slippers.

Paula, the owner, is quick to respond to texts. Highlights include multiple windows overlooking the lake, nice towels, plenty of pillows and blankets and a comfortable bed. There is also plenty of hot water. The property is nicely landscaped with a balcony, deck, outdoor fire place,and a private dock. There are hardwood floors throughout and high ceilings. There is a no shoe inside the home rule but feel free to bring slippers. The apartment has AC in the summer and heating during the cold months. This is a historical home with some modern amenities such as a large walk in shower but it still has a lot of its original charm. There is fast WiFi, Netflix and Hulu available. There is a washer and dryer available in the basement but it might not be suitable for those with mobility issues, please be aware. The laundry is open from 7 am to 9 pm.

- "While the crowds amass in Ogunquit, pass it by and visit Yarmouth! It is small town USA and Jackie’s apartment C made our visit absolutely perfect! A spacious kitchen was a welcome respite from days of travel and restaurant food, where we could prepare our meals with every available convenience. We had a full dining room for eating and planning our days, and then a comfy living room for night time tv. She offers two popular streaming services but I would have liked to login to our other streaming services, I simply watched on my tablet. The one bedroom holds a queen bed with an on suite toilet and shower. My only comment is that the water closet is quite small but the shower is spacious with a modern detachable shower head. This home was spotless! I have stayed in many rentals, hotels, etc. since the pandemic and it seems cleanliness has really lapsed so I was overjoyed at the attention to this detail. Having a washer and dryer was a big plus for us as well. The location is great! We walked to stores, parks and events downtown and drove to other places to visit because if is centrally located on the Maine coast. It was wonderful to see kids riding their bikes all over town - it is obviously a safe space. A very good experience all the way round. Thank you to our host!"

Glamping in the Treeyurt is pretty magical. Relax and unwind to the sound of owls at night and the crackle of the wood stove. Fully insulated and heated this yurt supplies year round comfort for guests. Located on the back of the property, the Treeyurt is a glamping spot with electricity, a kitchenette with a coffee maker toaster oven cook top mini fridge and plenty of pots and pans and cooking utensils and silverware and plates bowls and mugs. There is a queen bed and a day bed fully supplied with comfy bedding pillows sheets and blankets. The outhouse has a dry flush toilet and there is an outdoor sink and outdoor shower with running water in the warmer months typically May 15 through October 15. Please BYOT. Bring your own towel. We do supply water in the colder months as well. The fire pit and outdoor area are framed by timed string lights and We sell campfire wood for $5 per bundle and hope to supply for the whole season but check in to make sure we have enough for your stay. Gathering of downed sticks and branches is welcomed but please do not cut trees or branches down. The white bags of wood are for inside use only and are used for heating during the colder months. The wood stove and monitor heater work nicely in combination to keep the yurt cozy and warm during the winter. For summer time the Velcro windows open as well as the dome and a floor fan is provided. The driveway is the only shared part of the property so even though the main house is about 200 feet from the yurt, it feels private. The yurt path is located on the right side of the driveway and winds back to the yurt through the woods.

Please note this driveway is shared with Titan at Town Landing (the large home attached to the other side of the property’s garage). The whole parking area can fit 6 cars, so we allow 4 spots for guests of the Titan.

Guests will have access to all described rooms and amenities. The washer and dryer located outside of the bathroom are available for guest use.

Each bedroom as well as the main living area have their own portable AC unit.

You’ll receive a code for the smart lock for secure and easy entrance into the home. 2 dog maximum, $150 pet fee applied to reservation.

DOG GUIDELINES:

- We have wonderful neighbors and the last thing we want to do is disturb them. If we are alerted of excessive barking we will need to ask guests to remove the dog from the property for the remainder of the stay. Please do not book this property if your dog is known to bark excessively.

- By booking, you accept responsibility for any damage/extra cleaning your dog causes during the stay.

- No dogs left home alone, no exceptions.

- We have an additional TopHost Vacation Rentals Guest Agreement separate from the booking platform. By booking this home, you agree to this process. The Guest Agreement is a legal document from our law firm that details the rules and policies for staying here.

- After you book, you’ll receive a message with a link to the Rental Agreement. Please read it carefully and sign it to complete your booking. Signing this agreement is required for your stay in our home.

- Unexpected things can happen, so WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND getting travel insurance in case you need to cancel your booking.
