Le Refuge sleeps a maximum of 5 people and is located near Fontaine de Vaucluse, ca. 1.2 km from the village center and 6 km from Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a picturesque small town renowned for its antique markets, stores and art galleries at the foot of the Luberon mountain range. Views over the countryside are truly spectacular.

This large holiday rental, exquisitely decorated in a Provençal style accentuating the ceiling’s wood beams and stone walls, is situated on the ground floor of the owners' home. It has a separate independent entrance, a terrace accessible from the kitchen/dining room, as well as a private courtyard with a stone-built filtered pool (ca 6x4.5m) operated from June until September. Our more than 200 year old stone house is in a dominant location in the heart of the beautiful listed village of Fontaine de Vaucluse, famous for its freshwater spring.

Come and enjoy this sunny haven of peace, its breathtaking views over the village, river, castle ruins and cliffs and its flowering Provence-style terraces lulled by the river below.

Bathed in sunlight, spacious and just a 2 minute walk from the many restaurants, little shops, sites, riverside park, museums, fishing, kayaking...

Outdoors we have two typical Provencal stone courtyards giving you a choice of sun or shade:

- one sunny open courtyard with table, chairs and flowering plants
- one semi-covered courtyard (25m²) with a large dining table and chairs in the shade, a small table in the sun (ideal for breakfast!), a BBQ, summer kitchen..

The house is approved by Gites de France and is east and west facing. The 80m² interior is bathed in natural light and entirely renovated:

Ground floor: Large fully equipped kitchen/dining room (28m²); double bedroom with en suite bathroom (shower and toilet).

First floor: Large living room with a double sofa bed and a second sofa (25m²); bathroom (shower and toilet); twin bedroom.

Access to the house is by about sixty shallow stone steps (hence the great views and peace and quiet!). No problem for healthy people of all ages and the local supermarket has a delivery service!

We wanted a small village to call home for a month, a place with a selection of good, reasonably-priced places to dine, some shopping, and sights. A house with two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, kitchen and laundry facilities, and if possible, some character. We didn't want a generic modern place. This little stone house was perfect for our 4-week stay. The owner met us when we arrived and showed us the basics for the house; whenever we had any questions, she was just a text message away. Without question the terrace was the best part of the house - the view of the limestone cliffs was amazing and we had some lovely meals sitting out there. We did a ton of sightseeing, using Fontaine de Vaucluse as our base and I must say after facing the traffic out of Marseilles and Aix, I was so happy that we chose a small town. FdV is small - just the one boulangerie - but because it's also a tourist destination, there are more restaurants and shops compared to other small villages. For groceries, it was a short drive to L'Isle sur la Sorgue. We hated to leave!"

Authenticity of the decoration of a true family home, everything has a story. The terrace and lime are the center of life. This 100m2 house is composed of a living room with television, dining room and fully equipped and fitted open kitchen. It has 3 comfortable bedrooms each with television and air conditioning, as well as a bathroom with shower.

Outside, enjoy the swimming pool open from the beginning of May to the end of September, deckchairs and the proximity of the beautiful Sorgue river for your walks.

The house is located very close to a leisure center including a children's park "Nestor Le Castor" as well as the departure of the descents of the Sorgue by canoe-kayak (minimum age 6 years) from the Kayak Vert base.

This proximity causes noise activity during the day (between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.) but allows you to benefit from several advantages: unlimited free access for your children to the "Nestor Le Castor" park, FREE descent of the Sorgue by kayak once a week.

The children's park and the kayak base are open from the end of May to the end of September.

The land is fenced and our dog friends are welcome. The price is €100 per dog per stay, to be paid after the booking.

- "This apartment is lovely, but did have it's shortcomings. For a start we were not met by a person to show us around and give us keys. We had to phone, could not understand the woman, until text to us in English where to find keys and location. No adequate cooling, as weather was quite warm and sleeping was uncomfortable. Toilet facilities were downstairs via a narrow spiral staircase. The six flights of stairs leading to the apartment made it difficult coming and going especially with luggage. The parking was not explained to us beforehand. Very close to town,which was great ."
