- "What a gem!! We stayed for 4 days. Had to readjust our arrival and departure date at last minute due to typhoon Shanshan☹️. They even refunded our last day stay without asking as we had to leave a day earlier due to approaching typhoon.We arrived at midnight by train and the manager met us on site to welcome us and explain everything. Having a washer and dryer in one machine on site saved us! We would do a load of laundry every night and in the morning have clean clothes. Saved a lot of time when we got home as all clothes were clean and we did not have to do multiple loads of laundry. Place was clean, quit yet close to a bus stop and shops. Super clean, right in the very heart of Gion, super short walking distance to all the main attractions and sites, the traditional breakfast provided was a huge plus, we loved it. Slippers are provided and ready when you enter your room in order to keep the floors clean and I like that the toiletries are provided downstairs so you can take what you need, and leave what you don’t. We were trying to get a taxi upon our checkout on one of the busiest days and he was determined to help us even though he was busy helping other guests check in and out. The room is comfortable, was upgraded to a garden view but it’s not really a garden if it’s only a 3 feet deep garden ousdie of the window that facing walls of other buildings, you can never see the sky in that room. We usually call that room with no view. The only problem tho is that if you want late check out will be a charge but there’s no storage for luggages. - "This hotel is a great starting point for the Gion area. Just a five minute walk to the bus stop, or a 10-15 minute walk to the rail station. All the staff were polite and courteous. We arrived early, so we were able to leave our bags there, and when we checked in, they were already in our room. It doesn’t have a pool or gym, but you can expect a quiet location with mostly adult clientele. There were a lot of beverages available without charge (water, tea, and beer). It was a nice mix of modern with traditional touches. Would recommend to couples. Added bonus for us, there were multiple grounded plugs for our American electronics. "

The road the hotel is on is rather busy, which causes some loud noises. There is a fire station nearby. There are several busy bus stops near the hotel making the sidewalk crowded at times. It's a bit of a long walk from the subway stations, 15 to 20 minutes. "
