The backyard boasts a grilling area for all the fresh fish you will catch during your stay. Harkers Island Beach Access - approx 2 miles from the house, its right when you get off bridge to the island. It is on the sound. There is free limited parking.

Atlantic Beach, NC - This is the coast of NC, where you will pay to park and be on the actual beach. This option is 23 miles away. Plenty of parking.

Ferry to the Cape Lookout Lighthouse - THE BEST and MOST FUN option. This is what we do most weekends. You'll drive down to the end of the island (approx 1 mile), hop on the large passenger ferry boat (my uncle is one of their captains) and go to the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. Which offers a sandy beach sound side to hang out, or walk over to the other side and lay by the actual beach. Also, can climb the lighthouse. For the Ferry Option you would need to book in advance and pay the fee (they offer numerous trips to and from during the day)

- "My family just finished a 10 day getaway at this wonderful property on Harkers Island - we were so sad to leave! The island is situated in a perfect spot - close to many things like the Cape Lookout ferry, the Core Sound waterfowl museum and historic downtown Beaufort which has many restaurants and attractions - while being remote enough to experience the tranquility and splendor of an island getaway. There are grocery stores very close by for essentials whilst for greater selection the supermarkets in Beaufort are the closest and well stocked. Jamy and Marcia are wonderful hosts, very responsive and provided everything we needed to have a great vacation at their property. The cottage is almost brand new construction but feels very homey with lovely seaside decor and furnishings. All the appliances, including air conditioner (important this time of year!) are new and worked great. We loved sitting on the deck watching sunsets and shooting stars and highly recommend this Lighthouse Lookout island getaway!"

Games and puzzles, books to enjoy on the deck. This truly felt like a home away from home, we were all very comfortable. It's just a short drive to downtown Beaufort for shops or dinner very easy to get around. We enjoyed the adorable Fish Hook Grill just down the road. I would also like to note there is a Dollar General just feet from the house that is very well stocked with nearly all you need. I am so happy we found this place Melissa is very responsive and helpful with any questions"

The space
The house is an old fishing cottage with multiple additions put on over the years to house the owners' growing family. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside has recently been renovated into two units, a studio (Ell's Room) and a two bedroom (Papa's Place). Both have been updated with new heating/cooling units, Wifi, new bathrooms, etc. There is a shared patio out front with a dining table for 4 and two Adirondack chairs for guests in Ell's Room and a private space around the side of the house. There are a few outbuildings (an old garage and shed) on the property. It's definitely 'rustic' outside but very comfortable inside and in a great location for getting around the island. We priced it accordingly and it's a great value for the money. Please reach out if anything is not to your liking and we hope you enjoy your stay!
Other things to note
The owners manual for the heating/cooling split, air fryer/toaster oven and washing machine are in the kitchen cabinet closest to the bathroom wall. I keep the temperature set around 70 and set to 'dry' to keep moisture down. Feel free to adjust to your liking but keep it on 'dry' rather than 'cool' if possible. If it's not cool enough feel free to switch to the cool setting during your stay. The washing machine is 'technically' a washer/dryer combo but the dry cycle only really works for very small, light loads. If you use it I would strongly suggest drying your items outside.

There is no recycling on the island (I know, it's terrible) so all trash can go in the black garbage bin outside the door. There is a local dump just off the island where recycling can be dropped off.

This 1945 traditional Harkers Island cottage has heart pine floors throughout; two bedrooms; an office with a water view; a spacious, open concept kitchen, dining, and living area; and a nice bathroom. Located directly across from Cape Pointe Marina, you can put your boat in, fuel up, and be on the water in no time. The driveway area has plenty of room for multiple cars and boat trailers.

This bright, comfy, well-appointed 2BR, 1BA home comfortably sleeps 6 people. There are 2 Queen beds in one BR and 1 Queen in the other. All beds come equipped with a remote-controlled tilting mechanism so you can sleep comfortably. Prepare meals for the family in the fully equipped kitchen. Eat dinner inside in front of the massive picture windows overlooking the sound and Brown Island, or dine outside on the huge screened-in porch and watch the hundreds of birds fly by daily on their regular flight path. Play a board game, read a book, play the piano, have a delicious cocktail on the porch swing, walk to the end of the island and explore the trails at the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum, go swimming, go fishing (did we mention fishing?)—whatever you do, relax and enjoy yourself!

You'll be just around the corner from all the local hotspots. Billy's the local grocery store is just a walk or quick golf cart ride away (bring your golf cart with you). Be sure to get some of their fresh cut meats and hot breakfast sausage (our FAVORITE). Also, nearby is the Fish Hook Grill, Seaside Restaurant, and the Shark Island Eats food truck at the end of the island (Some places are only open seasonal). During your stay, be sure to schedule a day and take the ferry to Cape Lookout Lighthouse, see the Shackelford Banks Wild Horses, check out Sand Dollar Island, tour the Island and Small Waterfront of Beaufort, listen to the waves crash on Atlantic Beach, and take a tour of the famous Core Sound Waterfowl Museum. Lastly Don't forget to check out Chadwick Brothers Rentals to take a quick kayak around island and catch the magnificent sunsets. You can always relax at the Harkers Island Beach Access that is located right when get off the bridge onto the Island.

Cash’s Cottage is the perfect home away from home vacation rental for couples, families, or a group of hunters. The location is ideal for water activities such as kayaking or a quick boat ride to explore Cape Lookout National Seashore. Located only minutes away is the Island Express Ferry Service, local marinas to launch your boat, Billy’s Grocery/General Store, Fish Hook Grill, and Seaside Store/Restaurant. This home has quick access to Cedar Island, Beaufort, Morehead City, and Atlantic Beach.
The space
This peaceful home has plenty of parking that is perfect for boats and a huge fenced in back yard that can be accessed either through a double or single side gate. It’s accommodated with 3-bedrooms, 2-bathrooms, 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, 2 twin beds, a queen sized pullout couch, laundry room, kitchen, dining, and living room. Lounge chairs are located on the front porch and back deck, along with a gas grill. Water hoses available in front and back of the house for either washing your boat, beach equipment, or anything else you may need it for.

Cash’s Cottage is located in an area that is known for great fishing throughout spring, summer, and fall months, and eminent duck hunting in the winter months. Along with fishing and hunting, the Carteret County community has many festivals year round and tournaments that attract visitors from all over.
Guest access
The guests will have full access to the entire house, porch, deck, and front/back yard.

Again, the BOAT LIFT IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR GUEST USE. Guests who use the boat lift will incur a $1000 FEE and a lifetime ban from the property.

For security purposes, this property is equipped with a Ring Doorbell camera at the front and a second camera on the back balcony facing the sound. Both are video-only—no audio recording.

Spectrum Rental Properties will provide sheets and bath towels. Beach towels and equipment is not provided. If you would like information on beach equipment rentals, we are more than happy to provide you with a list. Properties will be provided with a starter kit in each full bathroom and kitchen. Each kitchen starter kit will contain a small bottle of dish soap, two dishwasher pods, sponge, and two fragrance free laundry pods. The kitchen will also have one extra trash bag
Each bathroom starter kit will contain a travel size shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, makeup wipe, and body bar.

- "This is the second time we have stayed here, the first time we were on the bottom level and both times have been amazing. Love the porch view of the ocean and fishing is a short drive. Might be the last time I stay before I move down here myself but this is an amazing spot!" - "Although the area and property were perfect for the stay, due to a Tropical Storm approaching I ended my stay two days early and with good reason as the island was flooded Sunday. When I contacted the PM Saturday they would not offer to refund my two last night stays as there wasn't a mandatory evac. ordered. Again, nothing at all wrong with the property but to not refund us after needing to leave a potentially dangerous situation is a bit over the top."
