Delightful detached villa on the island of Giglio, in the Castello area. The area is well served: five minutes from the access square to the historic center, where there are food shops, restaurants, taxis, city buses for the connection with the port and Campese beach.

Donna Lidia is one of the largest and most attractive homes available in Giglio Castello. It is a cool, bright, spacious and fully renovated house on the upper two floors, located in a quiet pedestrian street inside this charming medieval village. On the first floor is a double bedroom, lounge with armchairs, TV and sofa bed, a dining area for 8, a large fitted kitchen and bathroom with shower. The second floor has a double/twin bedroom, sitting room with coffee table, comfortable chairs and sofa bed and a bathroom with shower and bidet, accessible from both the bedroom and the sitting room. The property has been restored with great care to conserve its original character and to provide a comfortable holiday home for those who appreciate the special atmosphere of Giglio Castello. Free parking, shops, bars, pizzerie and restaurants are all within a few minutes' walk and the Castello itself provides fascinating, friendly surroundings for children to play safely. - "Tony and Ombretta’s apartment was the perfect place to stay and enjoy the best of this beautiful island. Everything in the apartment was spotless and well maintained, and the place has a great layout as well, with a huge lounge and very large bedrooms. All the rooms are beautifully decorated and the kitchen is fully stocked with all the equipment you might need to make family dinners. There were only 4 of us staying there so we were very comfortable, and it's apparently possible to transform the landing on the second floor to an extra bedroom as well. The apartment itself is situated inside Giglio Castello, the beautiful old own at the top of the island. It’s a great place to stay if you prefer cooler evenings and nights after a day on the beach, as the areas near the sea stay pretty warm even when the sun has gone down. The Castello has a maze of picturesque streets, local food and clothes stores, and plenty of delicious restaurants. We loved going to Da Maria's for seafood, and Il Trione di Meino for lovely appetizers and great pizza. It’s easy to park if you have a car (both paid and unpaid can be found around), but the bus is a great option to get to the different small towns and beaches (Porto, Cannelle, Campese, etc). Tony and Ombretta are the most amazing hosts, really kind and caring, and if you need anything they’re always happy to help. We’d most definitely recommend staying here and we know we’ll be back soon!"

The apartment is located in the heart of the quiet medieval village of Giglio Castello (450 m asl) in which cars can not circulate. The apartment has two bedrooms, a large bathroom and a wide living room with kitchenette. From the living room, up a few steps, you enter the first bedroom where there are two single beds. From this you have access to the master bedroom. Two additional beds are available in the living room where there is a sofa bed. The living room also has access to a small balcony overlooking the quaint alleys of the village. The apartment has been recently renovated and due to its location is cool and comfortable. In winter the house is heatable with a pellet stove.

It's right in Giglio Castello which is pedestrian only - so you can park your car in the free car park just outside town walls, or an affordable slightly closer one which is about 7 euros for 24hrs. We were unsure whether to stay on one of Giglio's coastal towns or Castello, which is a 10 minute drive up top of hill - but this turned out to be the right option. A cool, quiet extremely charming place to go back in the evening after a day at the beach, more relaxing than the crowded touristy towns on the island. The city is ancient and stunning - with winding alleyways, twisting steps up to people's apartments, small restaurants and bars populating the tiny streets - this is amazing authentic experience. The host was communicative and helpful, really friendly and relaxed on arrival. Showed us parking and took us through the apartment. It is spotlessly clean, well furnished with an oven and gas stove. One very large double bed and small singles in the 2nd room. Amazing stylish shower with overhead and shower handle. It has a small balcony looking out on to the streets, right next to a great Pizzeria and round the corner from a charming bar next to a Church courtyard where you can look at the sea view. I'd really recommend this place if you want to get away from resort town feel - if you want to be near the beach 24/7 it obviously wont be ideal for you but it was definitely the nicest town on Giglio and a privilege to stay here!"
