The dining room has a large table that seats 10, and has a breakfast bar that seats three, all while providing stunning views of the river.

The house is easy to get to - just off of 22/322 in Dauphin, within a short driving distance of all Central PA attractions (Downtown Harrisburg, Hershey Park, Gettysburg, Lancaster, etc.). Our waterfront home is the perfect vacation getaway. It’s near all the attractions of central Pennsylvania, yet removed from the crowds. We are located just one half mile off Highway 322/22, within a 30-minute drive to Hershey and under an hour to Gettysburg or the Dutch country. Ski Roundtop is just 40 minutes. You enter your own private acre where Mother Nature beckons you through the stunning views of the many windows. Launch from your own private dock to a kayak adventure paddling among the islands with the bald eagles and wild life, or take a day trip floating down the Susquehanna. Soak in the beauty of the natural surroundings from the porch swing on the riverbank or relaxing by the waterfalls on the patio.
Our family has many special memories of get-togethers at the river house, and we enjoy sharing it with others. We have 4 kayaks (including a fishing kayak and a double kayak so an adult can take a small child out), a canoe, several inner tubes, and we provide basic fishing gear. You can wade or swim in the river right behind the house, and in summer the water level is usually pretty low, so kids can wade along the bank and spend hours catching minnows and other critters. Take a lazy inner tube float on a warm summer day.
There is a private dock for your use and a porch swing down by the river, as well as a fire pit on the river bank where you can roast marshmallows and hot dogs.
The property sits along the historic Pennsylvania canal system, and our lane was the original towpath where mules pulled barges along the canal. To get to the house from State Road 322, you drive 1/2 mile down the lane with some paved and some unpaved sections, but easily passable in all seasons. We are close enough to the road that some noise can be heard (approximately 500 feet across a field and through trees to Rt. 322 and the train rail beside it.)
Numerous hiking trails are nearby, including the Appalachian Trail a 10-minute drive away, and there's a nearby rails-to-trails biking/hiking trail with 18 miles of wilderness trail with no roads, yet it is level and easy for children to navigate. With just a ten-minute drive, you can take a three mile walk around Wildwood Lake and visit the nature center there.
The house itself is over 100 years old, and it has random width solid Pennsylvania white oak floors in the kitchen, spacious living/dining area and in the sunroom. The rest of the house has oak flooring, tile, or carpeting (master bedroom only.) We have done two major additions to the original structure. The kitchen is well equipped with a ceramic top stove, refrigerator with ice maker, a KitchenAid dishwasher, microwave, upgraded small electrics (toaster, pancake griddle, blender, waffle maker, coffee grinder, Keurig, regular coffeemaker, etc.), and all the dishes and cooking utensils you might want. Guests often comment on how well-furnished and handy it is, just steps from the spacious dining table that accommodates a large family or group of friends.
What really takes your breath away is the view of the river as you walk into the living room and look through the columned opening through the sunroom to the river. The deck is shaded by towering trees in summer and we have a dining table and a Weber Genesis grill with a side burner on the deck. Down by the river (in all seasons except winter) is a porch swing to sit and watch the river flow, a fire ring, and a few chairs and benches.
The story behind the house is that we bought it as our vacation home in 1993, and it is only a thirty-minute drive from our primary residence. We wanted something near enough that we could use it often. As it turned out, my husband's mother who lived in Alabama was widowed and wanted to live near us. She moved into the river house and lived there for the rest of her life, enjoying watching her visiting grandchildren play on the river bank. When our children grew up and Grandmother passed away, we decided to begin renting this home to travelers.

My husband Dave and I are not absentee landlords. We live in the area, and, in fact, we are often found in the small guest house on the lot next door to the river house. If you need anything, want advice about area attractions or directions, or if something should break down, you will be able to reach us directly without any trouble. We are excited about sharing our home that holds so many memories for us.

ARRANGEMENT OF BEDROOMS

First Floor:

Second bedroom – one queen bed and one (very comfortable!) futon that can make a full-size bed

Attic Bedrooms:
(Since this is a 100-year-old attic converted into bedrooms, the attic steps are a little steeper and more narrow than those you would find in a contemporary home, and the ceiling follows along the roofline. The fifth, smallest bedroom is accessed through the large fourth bedroom. Both attic bedrooms have skylights.)
Fourth Bedroom – one queen bed, one twin bed (It also has a sitting area with a couch, chair, and TV.)
Fifth Bedroom – one full size bed, one twin bed

RESERVATIONS
We mostly book through VRBO because it’s very safe and secure for our guests. During check out, Guests review our attached rental agreement and house rules and agree to them by checking the box and completing the reservation request. Due to insurance regulations, we rent only to those over the age of 25. For smokers, we ask that you smoke outside only and properly dispose of cigarette butts.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Our stated cancellation policy is strict on VRBO because they don't give us the option of stating what we actually do. If you have to cancel, we will do all we can to rent the house to someone else. We stay fully booked in the summer and usually get more requests than we can handle in other seasons as well, so we have mostly been successful in rebooking. No matter when you cancel, even if it is near your arrival date, if we are able to rebook your dates to someone else, we will refund your payment in full!

- "My husband, two adult children and their spouses, along with our two grandchildren, ages 5 and 7, and two chihuahuas…all gathered for a week of family togetherness in this lovely home on the bank of the Susquehanna River. Highlights were the graciousness of the home’s interior, the view from the sunporch and deck, the landscaped property including waterfalls and graceful perennials, the outdoor equipment of fishing poles, kayaks, lawn games, the chair swings dotting the sprawling lawn. The house came fully equipped. No need to bring anything but food. The owners are an active presence living next door, available for any questions/concerns. The family enjoyed a day at nearby Hershey Park, fishing for youngsters at Clark Creek, and tours of local caves. We found a wonderful restaurant in Harrisburg to celebrate our daughter in law’s fortieth birthday. This part of the river is very quiet and peaceful, and offers excellent tubing and kayaking possibilities. Our son found a local gym for his morning workouts. We were very satisfied with this setting and all it had to offer."

The Cottage on Clarks Creek welcomes you. Jyoti and Michael’s newly built, secluded abode is nestled in the woods just steps away from an immaculate watershed creek. The lodge consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath with not only a shower but separate jacuzzi tub, plus another ½ bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with all the appliances.

On the property, for your use, is a creekside, fully screened in, (not kid friendly) meditation room that is suspended right above the flowing water. The perfect spot to relax, have a meal or morning coffee. Mountain water flows through the creek making it pristine for fishing, rock stacking or floating. The Appalachian trail and Fly Fishing areas are around 1 mile from the property.

Between your getaway and the creek lives two fireplaces, one large stone fireplace with built-in seating, and the other is a smaller creekside fireplace.

Jyoti and Michael created a quiet, zen space intended for a romantic and relaxing getaway, we live next to the cottage. We will respect your privacy. If you are looking to party this is not the place for you.

Our cabin sits along the Little Juniata Creek - a hidden gem in Central PA. It's perfect for trout fishing (with a PA License) or exploring with little ones. We are situated on 8 wooded acres at the bottom of a dirt road secluding you from the modern world. But, fear not, Wifi is available for those that want to stay plugged in. We have a hand built fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows and ghost stories. There is a picnic table under the pavilion for outdoor dining.

The cabin itself is fully equipped for home cooked meals (we also provide a grill). Basic necessities are also provided to get you started. For groceries, there are several options within a 15 minute drive. There is a TV with cable and a game cube for the kids, just in case it rains. Their is NO CELL SERVICE in or around the cabin. If you can’t make calls over WiFi with your phone, you’ll need to walk up the road a bit until you get a cell signal.

If you're looking for things to do off the property, the Susquehanna and Juniata Rivers are both within 15 min. The Susquehanna provides excellent fishing while the Juniata is great for tubing, kayaking or canoeing. Nearby outfitters can set you up with a variety of adventures. The capitol of Harrisburg is less than 30 minutes away. So, if you're looking for more diverse dining options, there are lots of choices. There's shopping, a science center and museum. In addition, City Island is home to the Harrisburg Senators (Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals). Hollywood Casino/Racetrack is 35 minutes away. Hershey Park is only 40 min. Last, but not least, Penn State is just over an hour - we're perfect for game weekend!

Please be aware that even though we're secluded, you're in the middle of a sportsman's paradise. There is a gun range a short distance away, so there could be shooting. If you are interested, we can direct you to the range or there are numerous state gamelands for hunting, depending on what season it is. We've had deer, fox, ducks, heron and bear on our property. We've even started to see Eagles flying over the creek lately.

We are located approximately .7 mile down an unpaved, dirt road. It may seem a bit daunting at first, but we have yet to find a vehicle that could not make it down and up that road. Drive slowly and you'll be fine!

You can store your equipment safely in the covered garage under the house, and you can comfortably put in or exit right under the deck. 3 Kayaks are available onhand for your use along with all necessary equipment. Also available are river tubes which you can use for an unforgettable summer sunset river float. The shallow beach is great for for kids to wade in (under adult supervision of course), explore fishing or just discover the tiny water wildlife. A firepit is available for a cozy gathering by the water’s edge.

Fish the Susquehanna for bass and catfish, or at the nearby stonycreek fish for trout. A jon boat can be backed up to water edge.
Within minutes drive you can bike the Harrisburg greenbelt or hike the Appalachian trail, visit Fort Hunter park or try archery and shooting ranges.
Hershey park, and many other attractions are within a short driving distance.

The house is even nicer than in the pictures with lots of small perks. It is spacious and well suited for kids to safely play inside and out. After our day trips to nearby parks and Lake Tobias, we enjoyed the hot tub, making s'mores in the firepit, playing frisbee and taking walks up and down the gravel road. The location is so peaceful and quiet. We saw deer on the property a few times. The owner was gracious and prompt in responding to our questions. She went the extra mile to provide a vacuum cleaner for us, and quickly got the propane tank refilled. We hope to return and highly recommend!"

Suite 101 is a 400 sq ft studio located on the front side of the 1st floor. It includes a queen bed, a sofa, full bath, built-in desk with a chair, fully stocked kitchenette with a small table and two chairs, and stacked washer/dryer.

All bed/bath linens, soaps, coffee, tea, kitchen basics, and paper products provided.

Pets are welcome with a $45 pet fee. Please add all pets to reservation when booking.

- "Clean, organized, perfect size with plenty of space! Close to lots of parks and restaurants!" - "Very nice apartment with a great front porch. New and very modern appliances. Bed was comfortable. It was a cold night outside, but the heat cranked! Easy lock system on the house's front door and apartment. Plenty of parking room behind the house. The only reason for a 4-star location was some road noise. It wasn't a problem most of the time, but at 6am/7am it was a little loud in the morning. Only a 15 min drive down to Duncannon to access the Appalachian Trail."

2 Beds-Halifax PA, near Lake Tobias. This space is great for visitors to the area. Perfect for fishermen coming to fish the Susquehanna, with lots of parking! Discounted rates are available for workers staying for a few months.
This room has been completely updated from new flooring to comfy new beds, new cabinets and updated furniture.
Along rt147 which is a busy road and there will be traffic noise as well as a train that runs a few times each day. It’s only outside of the rooms that you really notice.
