- "First, we have nothing but good things to say about Daisy, the owner, though we never met her. Her communication was prompt, and she was responsive to our needs, including sending someone to help carry our luggage up the stairs. The toaster didn’t work, we needed more towels and an ironing board and iron. All arrived the next day. Our texts were always responded to quickly. The living room and main bedroom are quite large, with a comfortable couch and queen bed. The kitchen has good appliances, but is on the small side. Since we were there during COVID, and had to prepare all of our meals, that was a drawback. Also, we could have used a couple of more dinner plates and a few more water glasses. However, we didn’t ask about them, so we can’t complain. I’m sure Daisy would have accommodated us quickly. The location is excellent. You can be in Berkeley or Walnut Creek in 10 minutes. Overall, it was a positive experience, and we would recommend Knickerbocker for those wanting a comfortable and fairly priced place to stay in Orinda."

I needn't have worried with Tom and Brigitte's home. The minute we walked in the door, we let out a huge sigh of relief. The home seemed to wrap us up in a warm hug after a long day of travel. We felt safe and more importantly, I knew my child was safe in this home. While there are many many stairs, we took climbing them in stride. Our legs are now toner and our cardio much-improved. The home had everything we needed and when it was sadly time to leave, our toddler told us he didn't want to. He wanted to "stay in the house with the big bathtub". The house is close enough to restaurants, UC Berkeley, and attractions that we didn't feel out of the way but it was still wonderful to get up and have breakfast under the pergola at the edge of the cliff to take in the fabulous view."

This cozy one-bedroom is fully furnished and equipped to make you feel at home. The living-room has a couch, an office corner, a dining table and opens to an outdoors patio where you can dine and work. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric stove and full-size oven, small oven, microwave, refrigerator, washer-dryer, and plenty of cookware and tableware. The TV is Roku.

Street parking is available at no charge. The outside patio and garden are cleaned on Friday mornings by our gardeners. There is no charge for utilities fr short term stays. Long term stays may require a share of the basic utilities, but internet and gardening are always free.

As for transportation, the apartment is a 4-minute drive from Orinda city center, with its restaurants, shops, cinema, library, BART station and wonderful community infrastructures. We are only a 10 minute-drive from the lively Lafayette city center, while the Berkeley campus is 20 minutes away. The BART station in Orinda offers direct connections to Berkeley, to San Francisco, for world class dining, shopping and cultural attractions, and to the international airport.

- "The location was perfect. Not to far off the freeway but far enough to feel safe and secluded. The neighborhood is beautiful, quiet. This is an older property. While beautiful and serene it could use some updates. You will have a walk to your vehicle and parking is on a narrow street which is not stated in the listing. The only heat is portable heaters which take a while to warm the space but eventually it gets the job done. Water pressure was a plus and the unit has a nice amount of space. The owners were very friendly, attentive, but also allow for personal space. This was my first VRBO rental and I quickly learned that if the unit doesn't advertise a designated parking space or heating then the landlord isn't required to provide those amenities. A hard lesson to learn after you commit to a 30day rental."

Inside, you'll have nearly 6,000 sq ft of space, with six bedrooms spread over three stories, and gorgeous views. There are also 5 bathrooms: three full baths plus two half baths. In addition, you'll find a ping-pong and pool table, wet bar, an enormous family room with working vintage pinball machine, a 30-foot tree growing inside the house, two fireplaces (one gas and one wood-burning), a massive custom kitchen with a double oven and professional range with warming lights, and three bidets over five bathrooms. Master bath includes a double shower with solar-powered remote-controlled skylight and jacuzzi tub!

Guests will have full access to the property with the exception of the garage and a few locked storage areas.

Once verified, and prior to check-in, guests will be asked to sign a Rental Agreement that includes:
- Agreeing to our rental terms and conditions.
- Providing a valid government-issued ID and a matching credit card before check-in.
- Paying a non-refundable $60 damage waiver. The damage waiver provides coverage for accidental damage during your stay, as long as it is reported prior to your check-out. This is collected either at the time of payment through the booking platform or afterward, depending on which platform you use to book.

The damage waiver covers accidental damage that may occur during your stay. To ensure coverage, all damage must be reported promptly while you’re still at the property. We understand there is normal wear and tear at houses but should anything accidentally break or get stained during your stay please just let us know. Thank you!
