Snowmobiles: a person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground.

- "This is our second stay at this cottage and we absolutely love it. The cottage is beautiful and it comes with a lot of amenities. The owner is very nice and understanding. My only feedback is related to the bathroom upstairs, it could really use some work and updates." - "We have stayed at rhis location multiple times and always enjoy our visit. Bring your bike if you can or try one of the host's bikes (bring your helmet) since there are plenty of places to ride vs drive. Host is great - very responsive. This year we tried 2 new places for day trips - Rockport Recreation area off Rt 23 is a large state park with 2 entrances and different "attractions" at ea section of the park. North section we walked a loop that takes you on the shore of lake Huron, saw a little boat wrexk in the lagoon, and thru a section of virgin pine. Then drove to the south entrance to trek up the quarry slag piles, and bike to the sinkhole "old sink" (note that this is best w a bike suited for terrain and is an athletic vs leisure ride - we brought our own gear). Another find is Besser Museum with local history, art, natural history ourdoor displays and a really cool planetarium. Definitely plan to do a planetarium show on your visit. Lots to do around this cottege. We love it here!"

- "We had a great week on Long Lake. Chet and Lauren have done a lot of work on their property, and it shows. The cabins were very quaint, comfortable and clean, especially the beds. I like that we brought all our own linens and bedding, I feel that is more efficient for both owner and guest. The lake, the use of the resort's aluminum rowboats (we attached our own motor), grills, firepit and outdoor furniture made it a fun, relaxing week and we all agreed we would definitely like to return to Presque Isle Resort."

- "Communication with Mitch was very timely from the moment we found his home and had a few questions before reserving last year-the week of our arrival. The view-awesome. We knew there was a lot of lake frontage but it didn’t sink in until our arrival. We all took one last view before heading home as we didn’t want to forget what we enjoyed for 7 days. The home is very spacious we had 10 adults and one child and it never felt crowded. The sectional in the living room allowed all of us to be together in the evening. The kitchen and eating area offer views of the lake as well. There’s plenty of dishes and cookware too. We enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle boat. Love that the water is shallow and sandy by the house. We all were able to float on our floats while catching some sun. The home also had corn hole and other games to use during our stay. We also enjoyed the outdoor speakers. We rented the pontoon one day which gave us an opportunity to explore Grand Lake. The home is well supplied cleaning items, toilet paper, paper towel, dish liquid and even laundry soap. Our whole group would love to stay here again."

Interior was clean and all the necessities needed to make it a comfortable stay were provided. Update: We stopped renting our home out during the pandemic, and had to do extensive repairs after being hit by a terrible hail storm in 2023. However, we are happy to say that we are back on the market and hope you enjoy your stay in Presque Isle, MI.

Our vacation home is located in a quiet area of Northeastern Michigan in the Presque Isle Harbor Association. The close proximity to refreshing Lake Huron, historic Presque Isle lighthouses and beautiful Michigan State Parks make this home a true getaway. The home is nicely decorated, has a furnace but no air conditioning, and plenty of parking.

This salt-box style house has three bedrooms, one is on the main floor, the other two are upstairs. Two bedrooms have queen beds and one a full-size bed. There is a newly remodeled kitchen, dining area and living room with sofa and loveseat. There is a nice deck off the back of the house with outdoor seating, wood fireplace, two bathrooms and a laundry room. We also added a propane grill on the deck in 2018.

The Presque Isle Harbor, Grand Lake and Long Lake marinas and boat launches allow access to a wide variety of water related activities. The home is also about 30 minutes from Alpena or Rogers City, which provides access to all modern amenities, shopping, museums, historic sites and state parks. This side of the state has dedicated light free zones at night and is fantastic for star gazing and exploring natural state parks.

The home is also an hour and a half from Mackinac Island, is very close to the Presque Isle Wooden Boat Show in the summer and other exciting northern Michigan activities. There is no TV or cellular service available at this home. However, we have recently added Starlink wifi. A ten minute walk or five minute drive to the marina might give you access to cell service, or you can go to the general store or restaurant during the summer season.

The home features hair dryers, some board games, puzzles and most kitchen accessories (like a coffee pot). The views are fairly secluded; and you're likely to see small wildlife like birds, squirrels and rabbits, and occasionally deer and other animals. More about the house:
The home does not have AC but the house is a split level so the bedrooms stay cooler as they are on the lower level. All of the bedrooms have ceiling fans. There are 3 bedrooms in total. The main bedroom has a memory foam queen bed. The second bedroom has a full size bed and the third bedroom has a twin bed. There is WIFI available in the house which you should use as cell reception is poor this far north. Once you log into the WIFI you should not have any issues making calls. There's a TV in the living room and and in each bedroom. They are Roku Smart TV's so you are able to log into your own streaming services of choice. We do not have cable or dish but we do have a Blueray player and movies to watch. Old fashioned movie night!

More about the area:
At the end of the street you'll find Lake Esau Park. There are swings for the kids to play on or you can just relax on the bench and look out at the lake. If you want a more of a swimming and lounging beach, take a quick drive to Presque Isle Harbor Beach just a few minutes up the road. Across from the beach is an ice cream shop that also checks out bicycles for free and rents out kayaks. A little further up from the beach are the two Presque Isle light houses where you can visit the old keeper's house, walk down by the beach, or climb to the top for some amazing views.

This is a quaint one bedroom log cabin nestled on the edge of hardwoods. It sits on a knoll overlooking Grand Lake with its own campfire (wood available for purchase at nearby locations). A dock provides access to the lake for boating. Kayaks and a paddle board are available to use. Swimming is available at nearby beaches, hiking trails are close, and the Presque Isle Lighthouse and Harbor are just a few miles away to have an evening pier walk. Monthly discount available.

You will enter the property off Whiskey Point Rd and follow a beautiful meandering driveway through hardwoods. The cabin shares space with our primary residence on the property. The cabin is located on top of the knoll, with the house 75 yards further down the hill. Pine trees and a fountain are located between the cabin and our house, creating for a quiet private setting. Parking is located next to the cabin across the driveway and has a sidewalk to access it. The private dock, to be used for boating purposes only, is located 100 yards away from the cabin. This is the only cabin on the property.

Our main residence is on this property, so we will be available if you have any questions, but otherwise, you will have your space all to yourself. The door will be unlocked, so you can self check-in when you arrive.

This location is a quaint area with many nearby activities. As far as restaurants, there is the Fireside Inn a half mile down the road that serves breakfast and dinner. It's nice to walk there in the evening to enjoy a lakeside meal. There is the Hideaway Bar and Grill 7 miles away; the town of Alpena is 15 miles south and the town of Rogers City is about 20 miles north. There is also the small town of Presque Isle 3 miles away that has a park, tennis court, basketball court, library, small grocery store, and a place to order pizza. On the north end of Grand Lake, there is the wonderful modern restaurant "Woody's" overlooking Grand Lake. About 6 miles away is the Presque Isle Harbor with two historic Lighthouses, an ice cream shop, charter boats to reserve for big lake fishing (recommendations available), and a harbor with a pier to walk out on. It's nice for an evening stroll to walk along the harbor docks to see the boats from all over the Midwest. As far as nearby activities, there are hiking trails for bird watching and observing rare wild flowers in the area. We will have a binder in the cabin with areas of interest for you to check out. We will also be available to help you navigate the area and answer questions on what is available to do. There is the NOAA center in Alpena on the Thunder Bay River that has a great display of boating history of the Great Lakes as well as a glass bottom boat cruise that you can take out on Lake Huron to view shipwrecks. There are also great biking trails, both in Alpena as well as Rogers City. There's lighthouses, beaches, and waterfalls to explore in the surrounding area as well. If you want to take in a day at Mackinac Island while you're here, the ferry dock is just over an hour away and offers a wonderful day excursion.

- "Peaceful and Quiet" - "Location is wonderful on Presque Isle - as the owner states, there are several options for food in the area, and plenty to do outdoors - lighthouses, trails, bicycle trails, boating. The secluded and shady location of the cabin makes it nice for just staying in and reading or relaxing. The cabin is generously stocked with dozens of books and several board games. If you are planning on or hoping to watch tv, there is no antenna and no cable, so no channels come in. Internet is described as being available but did not work at all during our stay. Cellphone reception is decent. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and cooking items, as well as several little things like coffee filters, paper plates, salt, sugar, etc. The bathroom also had a medium sized basket full of trial size soap, shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste. Be aware that the bathroom is quite small, as this is a cabin, so if you are a larger person or perhaps have some mobility issues, this may not be the best situation for you. There is a stand up shower; no bathtub. The air quality and cleanliness of the cabin is wonderful: 100% perfect. There is no air conditioning, but there are several windows with screens throughout the cabin that make for an excellent cross breeze. The fire pit is a lot of fun. There is a house just about 1/4 mile down the road that sells a large size bundle of firewood for $5. Overall, a great place to stay in Northern Michigan that is a great value and close to attractions."

This adorable 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin is perfect for couples & families who are looking to relax and to just get away. Whether you choose excursions on and around Grand Lake, Lake Huron, or venture further around the Sunrise Coast, you will enjoy the sites & scenery as you get to know Northeast Michigan.

Check in is self-check in, where you will be given an unique access code to the door a few days before your arrival. The code locks and unlocks the side door, and will be yours for your time there.

The kitchen is fully furnished with a propane stove/oven, Mr Coffee programmable coffee maker and a Keurig coffee machine, refrigerator, microwave and toaster, as well as pots/pans. We furnish plenty of options for the Keurig machine, including hot chocolate pods for the kids. Both bedrooms are furnished, both with queen beds, and the living room couch pulls out and can sleep 1 or 2 more people. Bathroom towels, bedding and pillows are all provided.
The living room is furnished with a couch, love seat, and armchair, with a wide screen TV with YouTube TV for your use. High speed internet is provided through Spectrum WiFi.

All of the bedroom windows are new, with double hung windows to enjoy the cool night air. All of the rooms have ceiling fans with speed controls. The kitchen windows are also new. There is a new storm door off the deck with a retractable screen to keep bugs out and lets the cool lake breezes in.

Outdoors you will find an attached deck with propane gas grill and smoker, patio furniture for 6 people to enjoy meals, all with views of Grand Lake. In the evenings you can enjoy the fire pit on the deck. The lower patio is down a flight of stairs to the lake, where you will find kayaks, fire pit, and dock. Spend the day swimming off the dock, and lounge in the sun on the swimming platform. Or use the kayaks to explore Grand Lake, or even go fishing off of them. The dock is available for your boat or your boat rental. There is a boat lift available (for extra charge) with remote control with powered lift if you choose to rent a pontoon boat. (See below) Grand Lake is an excellent fishing lake with plenty of places to go. A public boat launch is only 5 minutes away. Grand Lake is also excellent for water skiing, sailing, or anchoring your boat and spending the day on the boat.

So, start your day with a hot coffee with a view of the sunrise, and end your day with a warm fire and drink by the lake with a view of the wonderful, colorful sunsets, toasting marshmallows with the kids.

There are plenty of nearby roads that are lightly traveled that are perfect for biking or walking. There are plenty of choices for nearby trails through the state parks as well for those hiking enthusiasts.

This is a great breakfast !! (Breakfast is usually 9-10am, but longer on weekends. Dinner is 5 -6:30pm.) You can also drive your boat up to their docks.
> Potage Store, located at the Presque Isle Harbor, a deli sandwich store with ice cream window, sells basic items (milk, butter, beer, pop, etc) as well as T-shirts and trinkets.

Things to bring:
Your own food and drinks, sunscreen, water shoes, beach towels, fishing poles & equipment if you want to fish from the kayaks or the dock; and golf clubs if you plan to golf.
You should also plan on bringing your own toiletries, other than our standard hand soaps, shampoo & conditioner, and body wash. We will have a hair dryer, but you will need to furnish anything more than that.
While we will have standard sizes for life jackets, if you feel more comfortable bringing your own, please do so.

During the fall, we are available through October for those that want to come north and see all the colors.

In the winter, we are available for snowmobilers and those seeking to ice fish

Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillowcases and bath towels.

Parking: Enough room for 4 cars

Pets: Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $75/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept 1 dog, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Just let us know which bed you will be using with them, and we'll make sure it is ready for your sheets when you arrive. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed.

Privacy: There are neighbors

Snowmobiles: a person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails and thousands more miles of public roads and on public lands (where authorized). It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground.

Come to Explore the Lake? We include 2 kayaks and a pedalboat to explore the area. Dodge Marine on the lake also offers boat rentals if interested.

Come for Privacy? The home is located on the end of a secluded canal area with full lake view and direct access. 20' Shoreline Canal Dock and 170' Lake Dock. No neighbors on the west side of home. East side of home nearest home is approximately 200' away.

End your day at the firepit? We have an amazing waterfront firepit for you to enjoy your evenings with stories, and fun!

Yard Games your thing? We include Cornhole Boards and other yard games for afternoon or all day entertainment.

Rainy Day? We have board games inside, 3 smart TV's and plenty of space to spread out.

Good Night Sleep Needed? Included are blackout blinds in bedrooms, and new mattresses and quality pillows. Ceiling Fans in two bedrooms, and plenty of floor fans to move the air!
