Our 1 bedroom Hilltop Hideaway on the York River is the perfect place for a Romantic Weekend or a great place to stay for the week and be so close to many FUN THINGS to do. There is Historical Yorktown just 2 minutes away, Colonial Williamsburg and all its glory, Jamestown, Busch Gardens Amusement Park just 13 miles away and Water Country USA Park 11 miles. There is great shopping, with the Williamsburg Pottery factory 18 miles away, several Malls, and my favorite, Walmart. Restaurants, Wine Tasting Tours, Historical Guided Tours, Great Golf Courses, Virginia Beach only an hour away, Seafood and Daffodil Festivals, Concerts on the Yorktown Beach all summer, 4th of July Fireworks on the York River that can be enjoyed from the beach. There is room to park a trailer for whatever you bring. So much to do that a informational booklet will be supplied inside.

AS OF 4/1/2019, New living room furniture. Replaced the sleeper sofa with a new recliner sofa and added a rocker recliner as well. Have a very comfortable memory foam cot for an extra guests, along with the couch.The sleeper sofa needed to go. This furniture is so much more comfy!!
The cabin was renovated in 2010, with vinyl siding, windows, french doors leading out to screened porch, king size bed, stone fireplace, with electric logs, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and blender. The outside is a continual work in progress by us, weather permitting.But the cabin is cozy with a beautiful stone electric fireplace,that can be used year round for ambience.. Exposed log beams in the tall a-frame ceiling. Front porch looking right out to the beautiful sunsets over the York River and even a closer view from the outside deck.Your own beach down below the deck, just a few steps away to enjoy, with a view across the river to Yorktown Beach. ***SWIMMING IN THE RIVER IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!***We also suggest swim shoes, because the York River is a Tidal River!!
There are lots of fishing boats and jet skiers to watch going by and occasionally navy ships to see go thru the bridge. And the most beautiful Virginia sunsets you will ever see right out your front door !!!

You will need to supply all food and beverages for your stay. There is a Food Lion grocery store approx. 2 miles from the cabin. Please bring your own beach towels also.

We were down to introduce our new grandson to his great grandmother, so we spent most of our time visiting with family. But trust me, there are lots of historic sights to take in from this centrally located home. I highly recommend it; our family is hoping to make a longer stay in Yorktown an annual event in the future. You will not be disappointed!"

- "We were very thankful and very pleased to find this house for our family and pooches. This is a very large house in a safe and walkable neighborhood near Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Our family was looking for a spot to stretch out and take it easy while we visited Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. This house did not disappoint. The house is located about 15-20 minutes away from the theme parks, and is in a great neighborhood where you can go for a long walk with your dogs. The backyard is large and fenced so the family and pooches have ample space to hang out and relax. Bedrooms upstairs are spacious (although there's only a master bath and one full bath upstairs, with a half bath downstairs). It is single zone AC, so downstairs tends to be much cooler than upstairs. The downstairs area has a nice size living room and kitchen, as well as dining room and office space. Overall we were very pleased with the house. Some of the interior finishings are a little bit dated, but they do the job and provide a safe and relaxing spot if you're visiting the Williamsburg (or Virginia Beach) areas. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby, so you should be in pretty good shape and have ample amenities. Overall highly recommend and would be glad to stay here again if we're visiting for a few days."

The Neighborhood:
Nestled between Hampton and historic Williamsburg, Greenwood is a commuter's dream only minutes from the major Highway 64. Newport News is home to Joint Base Langley-Eustis, a facility that caters to all military branches. There is plenty of entertainment to choose from in Greenwood and its surrounding neighborhoods. Renters can easily take a day trip to Virginia Beach less than 50 miles away or head to the popular amusement park, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, only seven miles north, for a day of adventure.

There are various outdoor amenities like Newport News Park, a popular hangout for boating and other activities Head south to Huntington Beach, a 60-acre park with tennis courts and a fishing pier. Be sure to stay for sunset to enjoy the scenic views of the James River. For history lovers, enjoy a day at the Mariners’ Museum and Park, where you will learn all about maritime history.

2) Please confirm that you accept the following House Rules and Responsibilities on behalf of yourself and guests. A violation of the House Rules can result in an immediate termination of your reservation without refund.

For the comfort of our guests, residents and members of the Sojourn team, smoking of any kind (marijuana, cigarettes, or vaping) is not permitted anywhere in the interior of our building or within fifty (50) feet of our building, including outdoor spaces. Should our team or neighbors report the odor of smoke we will contact the booking service, terminate your stay, claim any and all damages, including but not limited to a $500 smoking fee, and post the appropriate review.

Parties and events are strictly prohibited. All Sojourn homes are equipped with noise monitoring devices (decibel readers), your privacy is safe however, noise levels exceeding normal levels are grounds for ending your stay and are strictly enforced. In the event we are notified of any excess noise, music, gathering or parties a Sojourn representative will respond and your reservation will be terminated without refund. Please also note that all Sojourn buildings and homes are equipped with some type of exterior camera that records the exterior and common areas to include all entries to the building.

Fireworks are illegal in Virginia. If you are found to be engaged in setting off fireworks we are required by the city to immediately terminate your stay. 3) This home is pet friendly only by request, and must be appoved in writing. The Pet fee is $75 per pet, per week.

4) We are happy to provide both a Pack and Play and/or high chair. These must be reserved in advance and a $25 rental fee will be charged.

5) There may be times where the home needs unexpected, or scheduled preventative maintenance. While we do our best not to interrupt your stay with us, sometimes this cannot be avoided thus Sojourn reserves the right to gain access to the properties at any time, after providing our guests with 24 hour written notice.

6) Please note that neither Sojourn nor the property owner shall be held liable for any loss, theft, damage, or injury to the vehicle or any personal property therein, nor for any injury to the driver, passengers, or any other person, arising out of or in connection with the use of the parking space. The negatives: You are assaulted with the smell of stale smoke and attempts to cover it up with numerous air fresheners when you step into the condominium. The combination of scents was not good. The condominium lacks small touches that make it feel like home - lamps, pictures on the wall, toilet paper dispensers, a working screen door to the outdoor patio. Most upsetting, however, was the lack of bedding. When crawling into bed, I noticed that the bed did not have a flat sheet. Simply the comforter. I decided to wash the comforter before sleeping under it, only to discover the washing machine was broken. My sister lived close by and was able to provide us with necessary bedding; however, had it not been for her, we would have been without bedding. Not cool. The condominium needs some work ... new carpet - the carpet is worn and wrinkled; paint in some of the rooms; a working washing machine; a working patio screen door; lamps; toilet paper holders; and small touches that make you feel like you're renting a home, rather than staying in a hotel."

Nestled between Hampton and historic Williamsburg, Greenwood is a commuter's dream only minutes from the major Highway 64. Newport News is home to Joint Base Langley-Eustis, a facility that caters to all military branches. There is plenty of entertainment to choose from in Greenwood and its surrounding neighborhoods. Renters can easily take a day trip to Virginia Beach less than 50 miles away or head to the popular amusement park, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, only seven miles north, for a day of adventure.

There are various outdoor amenities like Newport News Park, a popular hangout for boating and other activities Head south to Huntington Beach, a 60-acre park with tennis courts and a fishing pier. 2) Please confirm that you accept the following House Rules and Responsibilities on behalf of yourself and guests. A violation of the House Rules can result in an immediate termination of your reservation without refund.

For the comfort of our guests, residents and members of the Sojourn team, smoking of any kind (marijuana, cigarettes, or vaping) is not permitted anywhere in the interior of our building or within fifty (50) feet of our building, including outdoor spaces. Should our team or neighbors report the odor of smoke we will contact the booking service, terminate your stay, claim any and all damages and post the appropriate review.

Parties and events are strictly prohibited. All Sojourn homes are equipped with noise monitoring devices (decibel readers), your privacy is safe however, noise levels exceeding normal levels are grounds for ending your stay and are strictly enforced. In the event we are notified of any excess noise, music, gathering or parties a Sojourn representative will respond and your reservation will be terminated without refund. Please also note that all Sojourn buildings and homes are equipped with some type of exterior camera that records the exterior and common areas to include all entries to the building.

What NOT to Flush Down the Toilet or put down drains or in the garbage disposal - If found that these cause plumbing issues Sojourn can and will charge the guest.

Fireworks are illegal in Virginia. If you are found to be engaged in setting off fireworks we are required by the city to immediately terminate your stay. Also If you are found responsible for having started a wildfire or dune fire with fireworks, you may be liable for all suppression and reclamation costs or even face imprisonment and fines.

3) This home is pet friendly only by request, and must be appoved in writing. The Pet fee is $75 per pet, per week.

4) We are happy to provide both a Pack and Play and/or high chair. These must be reserved in advance and a $25 rental fee will be charged.

5) There may be times where the home needs unexpected, or scheduled preventative maintenance. While we do our best not to interrupt your stay with us, sometimes this cannot be avoided thus Sojourn reserves the right to gain access to the properties at any time, after providing our guests with 24 hour written notice.

- "We only slept and drank coffee because we were with family but it was cozy, comfy and very nice 😊" - "This property has some serious structural damage, the walls were cracked in almost every room. The screen door to the yard had a ton of dead bugs. The bathroom showers were so disgusting that I had to go out and purchase bath mats to feel somewhat comfortable. Ita shame we have to pay in full for these places in advance only to be disappointed. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. The neighborhood isnt the greatest, but it was quiet. Very disappointed!!!"

Home has brand new kitchen appliances (dishwasher) and washer and dryers are included in the monthly rent. The garden is cut weekly and the cleaning company comes bi weekly. There is an alarm system in place with a camera at the front and back doors. Keyless entry to get into home and wireless thermostat to keep the temp in the home comfortable.

There are flat screen TVs in all bedrooms and a 55 inch tv with surround sound in the living room, Neighborhood is quiet and everything is within walking distance from our cozzy home to rent in Denbigh, Newport News, VA,.

The few times I contacted the owner were for a grill, the old one was rusted and it was out of gas. They were prompt to help me.
