There are numerous nearby services including a full-service grocery (which is about 10 minutes from the property). For nature enthusiasts, the Eastern Shore National Wildlife Refuge and the Fisherman Island National Wildlife Refuge are minutes away. Day-trippers' choices include Chincoteague Island, NASA Wallops Flight Facility [you may get lucky during your stay and witness a launch!!], or catch the seasonal Ferry to unique, historic Tangier Island. It is also only two blocks to the beach and two blocks to the historic downtown – truly the best location!

The first floor living room has an open living room - dining room floor plan, a wall mounted smart TV, and plenty of seating in both the dining and living area. The kitchen is the perfect size for a family to enjoy meals at home, with plenty of storage space. First floor also has a half bath and laundry area. Upstairs, the master bedroom offers a california king bed and a wall mounted TV. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has a queen bed. The upstairs bathroom is a jack and jill full bath.
One of the best features of this home is the outdoor living spaces.The porch has two deep porch chairs and overlooks the historic Cape Charles school and the park. . The backyard includes a brick patio, seating areas, string lights and overlooks the park. The backyard shed has all the beach gear needed for your stay, yard games and more. The shed also has a flip down smart TV to enjoy your favorite entertainment.

Just added for 2023 - we have large 7x3 1/2 foot private outdoor shower with Hot and Cold water, a spraying wand and plenty of room to wash off your kids.

The location of Parkside is central to everything in Cape Charles. Once you arrive you can park your car and walk or golf cart everywhere during your stay.

We have an EZ GO golf cart that is available for an additional fee. Cost is $60/day or $300/week. The golf cart is only available to guests staying at Parkside North. Please let us know when you book that you would like to rent the cart with your stay.

A sanitized and clean home will greet you when you arrive. The linens will be fresh, beds will be made up, and bath towels are included. Our heating and cooling systems were just installed in March 2022. We provide all guests with starter paper products, cleaning supplies and laundry supplies. This is an older home with quirks and charm so please be aware of this before booking. Here is our completely honest disclaimer so you know exactly what you are getting!
• The sleeping loft with twin beds is accessed by a small, narrow staircase without a lot of headroom. Please use caution with it and know that it is not ideal for young children or those with difficulty climbing stairs. It is a super cool space but quirky! A lot of the time we have couples stay (which this house is perfect for) who don’t use the loft. For a small family like ours, our young kids LOVE getting to camp out up in the loft.
• We are five blocks from the beach, so the space is best experienced either anticipating a short drive to the beach, or by planning on renting bikes or a golf cart which makes exploring historic Cape Charles super fun!
• It’s a tiny house and the only one of its kind in Cape Charles … but … it is a TINY house. We love the little kitchen; however, it is not ideal for cooking a big meal. The shower is small as is the bathroom sink. We enjoy the space with our family of five, but definitely have to squeeze in!
• It’s also a historic tiny house. Being at the beach the floors sometimes get a little dusty and, in the fall, leaves blow up on the patio. Occasionally, there will be bugs inside – again – it’s an older house at the beach and please expect some of these things as part of the charm!
• The back sliding glass door is secured with a pole that slides in the bottom of the door. Just including this because we had one person complain (loudly) about this.
• Finally – know that our cleaning fee is less than what our cleaner actually charges. Please be aware of this if you book – especially in the off season when you have the chance to book for killer rates as we like to allow as many people as possible to get to enjoy Summer Camp! We have the best cleaner on the Shore working with us, however it is hard to find reliable people in this somewhat remote location. Hopefully that’s why you’re pumped to stay in Cape Charles anyway …

We recommend a max of 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 (possibly 4) children, depending on their ages. Our family of 5 stays comfortably!

We've put a lot of thought and care into making our space comfortable and inviting for our guests. The first floor has an open living room-dining room floor plan. The living area has a large flat screen TV on a swivel mount so that it can be adjusted towards the living or dining areas for the best viewing experience. We have a completely remodeled kitchen with beautiful quartz countertops, LVP flooring, plenty of cabinet and pantry space, as well as stainless steel appliances. There is a half bath located next to the dining area and a laundry closet next to the staircase. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms (one king, one queen) with a Jack and Jill bathroom. Each bedroom has a wall-mounted smart TV, dresser, and memory foam mattress. Need to get some work done during your stay? Under our king bed, you will find a collapsible desk that easily folds and unfolds in one minute. The home is also equipped with high-speed wi-fi. Our heating and cooling systems were upgraded in March 2022 with mini splits. Step into our refreshed backyard with a paved patio, complete with a table and seating for dining al fresco when you choose to eat "at home." The shed even has a fold down TV for when you can't miss an important game, but want to enjoy being outside. In the shed you'll also find our favorite Tommy Bahama backpack beach chairs and sand toys for the kids!

Parking is on the street. If you are pulling a boat, it is best not to park your boat trailer on the street. Please contact the Cape Charles Harbor Master for information on how to store your boat safely at the Cape Charles Harbor.

When both sides of the duplex are rented together, there is a gate that can be opened to allow for a larger, shared outdoor space. Due to this property being a duplex, we ask guests on both sides to be considerate and respectful of their neighbor(s) when it comes to noise, especially during quiet hours.

This is the perfect home base for you and your family to explore all that the Eastern Shore of Virginia has to offer. This home is also a great place for fishing and duck hunting trips, close to several boat launches.

This cozy home features a downstairs bedroom with a memory foam queen bed and an upstairs dorm bedroom with three twin beds. For additional sleeping options, a sofa bed is located in the den and there is a CordaRoy convertible chair/bed for youngsters in the dorm room. Bathroom with tub is located downstairs and there is an outdoor shower (available in summer months). The home offers a well appointed kitchen, gas grill, full size stacked washer dryer, central heat and air, wireless internet and a TV with Roku for streaming in the den and dorm room areas.

Wake up in the morning and enjoy complimentary coffee (from local company Eastern Shore Coffee Roasters) while you sit on the deck, watching the sun rise and listening to the birds. The tiny-homes were built in the 1930’s. It was a labor of love for my wife and I to restore these gems.

Visitors always say it seems so much bigger on the inside! Two guests will be very comfortable in the space.

LIVING AREA: Offers a couch, table ,chairs, a television (with Roku), and a area for guest storage.

KITCHEN: Features mini oven, plenty of counter space, a sink (no dishwasher), a fridge, coffeemaker. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics to cook a full meal, as well as 2 place settings. Coffee, creamer and sweeteners. A charcoal grill is also provided outside for guest use.

BATHROOM: Has a shower, Towels and all the basic toiletries are provided.

OUTSIDE SPACES: The front porch is a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the sunrise. A fire ring with chairs is provided for fires under the stars.

The self check-in feature means there are no keys to worry about and you don't have to be concerned if you travel plans are delayed.

The tiny-homes were built in the 1930’s. It was a labor of love for my wife and I to restore these gems.

Visitors always say it seems so much bigger on the inside! Two guests will be very comfortable in the space.

LIVING AREA: Offers a couch (Sleeper Sofa) a fold-out table with folding chairs, a television (with Roku), and a area for guest storage.

KITCHEN: Features mini oven, plenty of counter space, a sink (no dishwasher), a fridge, coffeemaker. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics to cook a full meal, as well as 2 place settings. Coffee, creamer and sweeteners. A charcoal grill is also provided outside for guest use.

BATHROOM: Has a shower, Towels and all the basic toiletries are provided.

OUTSIDE SPACES: The front porch is a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the sunrise. A fire ring with chairs is provided for fires under the stars.

The self check-in feature means there are no keys to worry about and you don't have to be concerned if you travel plans are delayed.

The space
In this unique dwelling we further embraced the concept of repurposing materials, giving new life to items that would have otherwise been discarded. The attention to detail and the use of repurposed materials throughout the house added a touch of history and character to the space.

One of the most captivating features of The Barn is the feature wall upstairs. The wall was constructed using old flooring from the 1930s, which instantly transported you back in time. The vintage flooring added a sense of nostalgia and charm to the space, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The various colors and patterns of the repurposed flooring pieces created a visually stunning focal point in the room.

Moving downstairs, the floor was made from remnants of marble kitchen countertops. By repurposing these discarded pieces, we not only reduced waste but also brought a touch of luxury into the tiny house. The smooth and polished surface of the marble floor, adding a unique element to the overall design. Walking on this repurposed marble floor, an unexpected surprise in such a small space.

The kitchen area of the tiny house barn showcased yet another fascinating use of repurposed materials. The kitchen counter was crafted from salvaged wood from an 1850s home. This reclaimed wood not only provided a durable and functional surface for meal preparation but also contributed to the historical charm of the space. The weathered texture and aged patina of the salvaged wood gave the kitchen counter a distinct character and told a story of its own.

Beyond the materials used, the overall design of The Barn was carefully thought out to maximize space and functionality. Clever The open-concept layout created a sense of spaciousness, while large windows allowed natural light to flood the interior, making the space feel even larger.

We also had some difficulty with the sound on the tv in the living area and got locked out of the one in the bedroom. The tiny-homes were built in the 1930’s. It was a labor of love for my wife and I to restore these gems.

Visitors always say it seems so much bigger on the inside! Two guests will be very comfortable in the space.

LIVING AREA: Offers a couch (Sleeper Sofa) a fold-out table with folding chairs, a television (with Roku), and a area for guest storage.

KITCHEN: Features microwave , plenty of counter space, a sink (no dishwasher), a mini fridge, coffeemaker. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics to cook a full meal, as well as 2 place settings. Coffee, creamer and sweeteners. A charcoal grill is also provided outside for guest use.

BATHROOM: Has a shower, Towels and all the basic toiletries are provided.

OUTSIDE SPACES: The front porch is a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the sunrise. A fire ring with chairs is provided for fires under the stars.

The self check-in feature means there are no keys to worry about and you don't have to be concerned if you travel plans are delayed.

The tiny-homes were built in the 1930’s. It was a labor of love for my wife and I to restore these gems.

Visitors always say it seems so much bigger on the inside! Two guests will be very comfortable in the space.

LIVING AREA: Offers a couch (Sleeper Sofa) a fold-out table with folding chairs, a television (with Roku), and a area for guest storage.

KITCHEN: Features a Microwave , plenty of counter space, a sink (no dishwasher), a fridge, coffeemaker. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics to cook a full meal, as well as 2 place settings. Coffee, creamer and sweeteners. A charcoal grill is also provided outside for guest use.

BATHROOM: Has a shower, Towels and all the basic toiletries are provided.

OUTSIDE SPACES: The front porch is a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the sunrise. A fire ring with chairs is provided for fires under the stars.

The self check-in feature means there are no keys to worry about and you don't have to be concerned if you travel plans are delayed.

- HOTEL TAX COLLECTION: In the State of Virginia and in Northampton County, all hotel and vacation rental hosts are required to collect hotel tax. We collect these taxes within the booking transaction.
