We rent Room 2 and Room 3; both are upstairs. Our lovely circa 1917 home - slate roof, pocket doors, 10-foot tall ceilings, covered porch - is a Weekend-Only Bed & Breakfast! $100 per night with a two (2) night minimum. We serve outstanding breakfasts! Enjoy eating in our sun-room, on the deck, or by the heated large pool! Jump into our pool! Drive 10 minutes to the Cape Charles historic shopping area and beach!! Or just hang around the house and watch the big TV in the living room.

The space
We rent Room 2 and Room 3, both of which are upstairs. This listing is only for Room 2. There are two (2) full-sized beds. Your bath is private, that is no one else should use it, but it is a few steps down the hallway. Your bath has a claw-footed tub (no shower), toilet, and sink. Yes... this really is a circa 1917 home. You have a closet in the room for your use, as well as an additional roll-away bed (works best for a child).

You have access to the 33K gallon pool, the huge deck, the sunroom, the living room, and the dining room. And, of course, your room! We also allow you to pet our dog.

We live in the house... so, we follow your lead. Want to be left alone? - it is OK. Want to chat by the hour? - Bonnie is the chief speaker. Want to discuss plants? - Caryn will love you! Want to pet our dog? - Fiona will thank the heavens for you!

Quiet, Efficiency Cottage located just 8 miles from downtown Cape Charles, several miles from the Elkington Wedding Venue, and within walking distance to the Northampton County Courthouse and the oldest Records Department in the Country.
Cottage has a kitchenette with a microwave, toaster/toaster oven, Kerig-style coffeemaker and undercounter refrigerator/freezer with automatic icemaker.
Bathroom has a tiled walk-in Shower.
High Speed Wi-Fi is available at no charge to guests.

The guesthouse, a converted tractor shed, sits on its own (mostly) private acre behind the host family residence. It is located in the quiet town of Cheriton, just three miles from the restaurants and beachfront of downtown Cape Charles. Tucked into the edge of the woods and with an unobstructed view of the night sky, "The Shed" offers the kind of quiet found only in the country. Bring bikes, explore our natural wildlife, and taste-test Cheriton’s not one, but two famous taco joints.

The space
The Shed is located in our backyard. You will enter the property through a shared driveway and park in the grass in the backyard. There is ample room for boat parking; and while there is no hose dedicated to the guesthouse, we can stretch our hose to reach your boat if that is helpful.

Guest access
You are welcome to enjoy any and all parts of our yard (about three acres): there are some blackberry patches, a fig tree and some struggling fruit trees that you can help yourself to when they are in season. And please make use of the tiny backyard trail!

Other things to note
The Shed is located on the edge of the woods with no foundation, so you may see bugs here and there inside the building such as rolly pollies and gentle looking little spiders that my kids call 'whispies.'

We have two beach chairs and a backpack cooler with ice packs for guests to use.

Our resident poodle, Johnny, may come say hi at some point- he is very friendly!

The possibilities are endless…The Georgie Wilson room features a queen size bed, a comfortable chair fit for a King or Queen, and a private en suite bathroom with shower. When you pull up to the Bay Haven Inn we have parking available for you. We are located on the corner of Tazewell Avenue and Peach Street, so park in front of the house or on the Peach Street side. You will have access to your own room, which has an en suite bathroom, and you are welcome to use the restroom on the first floor as well.
We offer you access to our “Butler’s Pantry” so you can help yourself to complimentary snacks and beverages. We serve coffee and tea before and during breakfast in the morning. Experience: Innkeepers Jim and Tammy Holloway’s goal is to create a memorable getaway for their guests. Whether you are in town seeking solitude, adventure, or want to take a step back in time and enjoy the history of Cape Charles, Jim and Tammy lo ve meeting new people and appreciate that each of their guests is unique. Our hosts will go above and beyond to create a customizable experience for guests, be attentive to each need or request, and answer any questions about the area. And ifit’s privacy that’s sought after, guests will be pleased to find a number of “nooks” both inside and outside the inn where they can enjoy some alone time.On that note, Tammy will be your personal concierge to set up any reservations or arrangements you may need for dinner, excursions, recreation, etc. Guests will also be able to rest up from travel and relax on the restored wrap-around porch, which features a couch for napping, and a swing for lounging, people-watching, and/or greeting friendly locals and fellow vacationers strolling by. At the Bay Haven Inn of Cape Charles, guests are not only welcomed but encouraged to bask in the warmth of the sun on this serene Chesapeake Bay beach sun or read a book while taking in the glow of a famous breathtaking Eastern Shore sunset.

Breakfast: Guests love our award winning hot breakfasts that we serve every the morning. Our signature sweet potato ham biscuits have one several awards, including winning (URL HIDDEN) breakfast contest, representing the southern region for the Breakfast March Madness Final Four! Featured as one of Virginias's 10 notable breakfasts and most importantly our return guests come back asking for repeats of some of our offerings like the "inn-famous" Ooey Goeey, French toast, not to worry you will understand the name when you take your first bite!

Complimentary Wine & Beer: We happily provide a complimentary, self-serve refreshments (The first glass of wine, beer or iced tea each day of your stay is on us!)


House Rules: We have a couple of simple house rules as to make for an enjoyable stay for all of our guests. Because many guests want to come for a romantic vacation we only allow children over the age of 12.
We can only accommodate 2 guests per room, so we cannot allow any extra guests to share your room; however, we do have four guest rooms total, so if your friends want to come too, give us a call! The more the merrier! We do not allow pets at the Bay Haven Inn of Cape Charles. We have a designated smoking and vaping area outside near the palm tree in our yard. Please no smoking (including e-cigarettes and vape pens) in the house or on the porch. Thank you!

Cancellation: If your travel plans change or you must cancel your reservation, please call us to discuss your cancellation. There are certain times of the year that we have had to turn away many reservation requests and a cancellation places our small business in hardship if we are not able to fill those rooms. Therefore, our cancellation policy below is necessary. Once you have made a reservation (whether over the phone or online), there is a $35 cancellation fee per room regardless of when the cancellation is made. For a full refund (less $35 cancellation fee), two weeks’ notice (30 days for special events and holidays) of cancellation is necessary. Reservations cancelled under the 14 day (30 day for special events or holidays) time-frame will be charged in full. . The Bay Haven Inn does not issue refunds for “no show” guests or those who depart early, cancel less than 72 hours upon arrival, or for special event/holiday reservations. Reservations with a minimum stay requirement that are reduced to fewer nights will be charged the full amount of the required stay.
